Gone 22 weeks now, feeling lots more wriggling especially when I get in bed. Getting more sleep on a night now though Smile

jenmcspen · 06/10/2014 12:21

Urgh, fainted again today, and just when I thought the dizziness was over! Thankfully no damage to bump, just knocked my head, arm and pride! And frankly is nothing compared to what some of you guys are coping with.

Day of enforced rest to ensue... although as my dad and oh are decorating the nursery and there is a lot of banging going on, it may not b a quiet one!!! Grin

sandulacek · 06/10/2014 12:49

Take it easy Frenetic & jen

Yay grinning. We're just waiting for our scan, fingers crossed all is fine.

Really weird having knickers and bra on after 2 weeks! Blush

babysquidge123 · 06/10/2014 13:02

Hi everyone! We are back from our 2 week hols and I've been catching up on everyone's posts - looks like you've had ups Smile and downs Sad

Not much has changed here but I've had a lot of pressure right where the bump sits. But we have a scan in the morning so fingers crossed everything will be fine :D

It was good to get away but I would not recommend a 22 hour flight when pregnant... very uncomfy!! Glad to be home with feet up!

jenmcspen · 06/10/2014 16:08

Nursery to be is now in the middle of being painted a vibrant aqua colour Grin bit brighter than I'd originally planned but oh loves it and the theory is it'll grow up with baby to be a funky kids room so no redecorating for ages.
MIL will hate it as she thinks that if u don't know the gender you should stick to cream! Thing is we are being given white furniture second hand for free so I'm not sure how cream would look.
Anyone else decorating at the mo, or have any existing nursery pics they'd like to share? Would love to see and maybe steal some inspiration! Hehe! Also, any advice on things that are essential to go in there? So far the only advice I've had is to get a blackout blind and a dimmer switch! Smile

blankfornames · 06/10/2014 16:09

Hola all,
After a bumpy day yday (fell in street & closed the door on my own hand!) we've had an exceptional day today! Scan couldn't have gone better. Bean was it's usual very active self and measurements are bang on 20+4, that's what I am today! Such a massive relief! Can sit back & relax now!

Burmama, would you believe, I work in Dublin, don't live there anymore though! Was up there today for my scan! Small feckin' world!

donkir · 06/10/2014 16:38

Not having a nursery this time but this was ds nursery 12yrs ago.

Viperama · 06/10/2014 16:43

Burmama I've always said I'd marry a man with a small head...luck has it mines got a pretty large globe on him, doh

Minichuch · 06/10/2014 17:20

We've just started clearing the nursery to be today - oh my god I cannot believe how much crap we have accumulated over the years!!

The paint scheme I like and have convinced dh on is light grey and white with a splash of colour - the jury is still out on the splash of colour thou...

Memphisbelly · 06/10/2014 18:53

I married a man with a pea head....sadly ds took after me and his head is already the same size as his dads at 4yo....he wears age 9-11 years hats and at newborn had age 3-6 month hats and at a year wore age 3yo hats! His cycle helmet that should have lasted until 5 hasn't fit him for over a year!

Lovely to hear about todays scans!

Frenetic we are having a 3d scan, but from 25 weeks it really will look like your baby, we still have one pic framed. dh said it ruined it a bit as he felt lile he had met him already. Im curious is he will look like ds.

Im so fed up still I am so desperate for the baby to kick up instead of down it hurts so much, he kicked up last night and I got all happy but then it started down below again, he clearly kicked up to flip himself back round.

Bought some cute baby stuff in Boots today and also a few packs of nappies in Aldi as myself and my friends really rate them.

I think I may get the cot down from loft soon to put up, my thinking is I can then put baby stuff in it rather than on the floor

Bangonthedoor · 06/10/2014 19:53

So seeing as everyone else is prepping for baby, I have a question, do you think it would be ok if I washed all the baby clothes/blankets/towels etc and put them away in the chest of drawers? Do you think I would have to wash them again before February if i did that?

donkir · 06/10/2014 19:57

I washed everything at the weekend and will put it in wardrobe until feb. I don't intend on washing it all again.

JacktheLab · 06/10/2014 20:20

They should be fine Bang, I'd wash them with non-bio though as its a bit kinder on little one's skin...

I'm finally sitting down hurrah, although there might be a small person at the stair gate....

LittleMissSunshine33 · 06/10/2014 21:10

Grinning my scan said the same thing big head and stomach lay off the sugar and I have to go for a diabetes check.

I keep have hard palpitations! Is not a nice sensation! Anyone else had these??

BanglesSpangles · 06/10/2014 21:14

Oh, dimmer switch- good plan, jen.

The 'babys room' is full of boxes of flat pack furniture and random toot- you guys are getting so much more organised than me! New bathroom's coming next week too, so thats going to have to take precedence, and is going to mean a lot of tile removal and plumber orgsnisation...gah- too much going on at the moment!

Just finished packing for a couple of days away with work, and have somewhat rashly agreed to do another friends wedding cake in november- just hope i'll still be up to bending over to roll out icing by then! Sensing i may need to slow things down before i go mental!

BanglesSpangles · 06/10/2014 21:23

Littlemiss, i used to get palpitations if i drank gin- massive massive disappointment to me, but i feel your pain!

Grinningcat · 06/10/2014 21:23

I get heart palpitations anyway so they are fairly normal for me.

Baby's room is still a tip. We are sorting out the front drive first (well DH and FIL). As of last month we have a dropped kerb and last weekend I finally finished the flower bed I started before I got pregnant! Then they are laying the drive over next few weekends. Mind you perhaps I should get started on the room while they are beavering away on the drive Grin.

blankfornames · 06/10/2014 21:39

Littlemiss, I have been getting heart palps, very unnerving but doc said it's totally normal during pregnancy. It's due to extra blood being pumped around the body.

Memphisbelly · 06/10/2014 21:48

Littlemiss agree it is very normal as your blood has increased by something like half again but worth mentionong at your next mw appointment.

Heartburn has hit tonight, I have been in agony resulting in dh going on a mercy mission, he got gaviscon which is aniseed tasting blugh its awful but it settled it a bit so tomorrow I will get more supplies then make a docs appointment to get something else for long term.

I have so much in the house I need to do, i have lost all of my drive to do stuff, worktops are full of various bits of crap, i have mw on weds followed by visiting a supplier for out xmas ribbons stock and seeing my heavily pg friend so thats my cleaning day gone

Memphisbelly · 06/10/2014 21:50

Oh and before baby arrives I want to repaint the walls in pur bedroom to clean it up and also the livingroom and staircase as its a grey and looks dirty so need something more cleanable

LittleMissSunshine33 · 06/10/2014 21:55

Thanks ladies at least it's not too much to worry about it.

Memphis heartburn is horrible I got it bad for a week but not so bad since have rennies now at any little sign I munch!! Gaviscon is disgusting!!!

11 more Mondays til Christmas! Smile

Ticktick · 06/10/2014 22:01

Evening all!

Successful scan day for us :) Baby is healthy and on track for 21wks, so lush to see much more detail this time. We decided to find out gender and its a boy just as we suspected (....and hoped!). So happy, grinning from ear to ear. Another boy for the spreadsheet!

Loving all this nursery, talk wish I could join in but we are keeping a bed in our box room for visitors for time being... In case we need help in the early days! Can't wait to plan nursery when baby is 6mnths :)

JacktheLab · 06/10/2014 22:18

I'll join in the heartburn gang!!

Ticktick, we've managed to squeeze a single bed into the nursery and the cot bed, it's a very tight squeeze but hopefully will be useful!!

HerRoyalNotness · 07/10/2014 03:07

This is my starting point for nursery, photo on right is the wardrobe (love US houses for this alone!). Keeping the dresser but it needs some work, gingh chair is nursery chair from the DSs and have sold it I think (lady just gone into labour tonight) bit sad about that, but I can't keep it all Sad. I have another chair I'm having recovered just now In a grey velvet for the new baby. Dr appt went well today, still at least another 2 weeks off work. At end of the month they'll give me steroid shots as a just in case precaution. At my scan last week she is measuring 21w+3d (at 19w+6d). Both my DSs have pumpkin heads (thanks DH and FIL) and this little girl looks on track to be robust which is great news, my problems are not affecting her.

Also found out, despite dire mat laws in US, our neighbour works for a company here that gives 16w paid leave, plus the 6/8 wks disability. The most generous I've heard of here! Wonder if it's too late to change jobs Grin

JacktheLab · 07/10/2014 06:48

Looks fab Royal, the advantage of most US houses as far as I can see is that the rooms are bigger too!

When DH and I first went to the US we took a bus tour. The guide was brilliant and told us alot about the US and Canada and one of the things that I was most surprised about was the lack of holidays and maternity provision there!

With DS I got to know a few american girls and they invariably had to either stop working or go back to work incredibly quickly :(

Hope everyone has a good day!
