Just been given ok to go home, woohoo! Just need meds and docs note for work. And now to my sofa for the next 4 months...

bagofsnakes · 03/10/2014 15:10

Viperama line up those box sets! Can I recommend An Honorable Woman, if you didn't see it when it was on telly. You can buy it an episode at a time on Amazon. You said that you're originally from abroad - right? I wonder if there is a favourable time difference so that you could skype people while on the sofa. Catching up with people would be a nice distraction.

kkllww · 03/10/2014 15:38

Ah, that's so sweet that your daughter wants you to 'open' the bump so she can play with it, Bang!
Thanks for those book suggestions Snakes - I'll buy them for when we start telling him.
Great news that you're allowed home Viper - now you can put your feet up and watch Hannibal - amazing series if you don't mind a lot of gore ;-)!

JacktheLab · 03/10/2014 15:44

Good news viper Grin

Memphisbelly · 03/10/2014 18:26

Viper hope you are now home and settled. Be nice if we could hibernate over the winter until the babies are ready to come out. i would take that option.

So sick of people saying im small....the baby is all in my back so im constantly breathless but as im 'small' (I dont actually think I am now at all) they think ugh how can she be bresthless now!

I have been craving a chilli for around a week and finally made one today it was amazing, I even scraped the plate empty. There is some more in the pan and dh offered to get it for me but I didnt want to make more rice!

Did the big food shop tonight and luckily dh appeared on last bit as I just couldn't pull the full trolley around the corners...I think I am going to have to relent and do a monthly internet shop of all the bottles and tins. I enjoy my slow stroll around sainsburys though. I bought loads of juices and squash as now I am drinking loads! (And a box of pop tarts which I have hidden Blush)

Bangonthedoor · 03/10/2014 18:41

Speaking of food shopping...has anyone ever checked out approved food online? Ive placed my first order with them and waiting for it to arrive. They sell cupboard bits that are nearing or passed their best before date. It tells you the dates on stuff so you can pick and choose. They've got a multi pack of the sun maid raisin boxes at the moment for 30p each! I also got 24 oats o simple cereal bars for 50p - not each but for all 24! Definitely worth a look Smile

Memphisbelly · 03/10/2014 18:59

Wow we go through loads of cereal bars and stuff like that as dh has loads for work will check it out

Bangonthedoor · 03/10/2014 19:14

Not to mention all the chocolate and sweets for cheap! Grin

freneticfox · 03/10/2014 21:07

Rough day over here! Came home from work at lunchtime with a stinking headache and been sleeping on and off all afternoon/eve so far.

I have a strange question about heartburn/indigestion - I've never really had it so not sure what to expect. After every meal I've had today, I'm getting a feeling of 'fullness' in my upper abdomen followed by a wave of nausea and the sensation of things almost coming up... then it eases off. It doesn't feel like the morning sickness I've been dealing with, but I was expecting more of a 'burn' feeling for heartburn if that makes sense.

Either way, I am NOT a fan!

Frenetic, when we rented in our last place we weren't allowed to paint even one wall in the nursery. I got a big canvas from a craft store quite cheap and covered it in wallpaper and painted another one with circles to match the nursery rug. I'm not artistic at all, it they made a huge difference to the room.

Viper, glad to hear you're going home. I've been on the couch 3wks so far and it's tough, I hope you're able to pass your time well.

We had a rough night last night. A huge storm passed over and woke us up. I have the. DSs in with me, so 4yo blocking his ears and wriggling and kneeing my back for a few hours as he was scared. I was quite cross this morning. After school run took a 4hr nap, had breakfast then threw it up. So I will add Beans on toast to the list of things I won't touch again, bleurgh. Have very little appetite and no clue what I want to eat. Managed a peach earlier, but it's now almost 4 and need to eat something but don't feel hungry as such.

This weekend we are getting the DSs upstairs again, I need more sleep and to be less grumpy the mornings and we can't have them plus a newborn in our room in a queen sized bed next year!!

Ventured outside just now for fresh air, it's lovely, the humidity is gone thanks to the storm and it's the most pleasant it's been for months.

On the nursery front, DH is painting as I can't. I wanted mint but the paint is looking more a green/yellow. It will do. I bought a grey rug and have a chair being recovered in grey, bright yellow floor lamp and have my tutu's from when I was small that I will hang from an ornate frame. I have a vintage oak dresser that needs a little repair but I'm not sure we are up for it, I don't want to ruin it. I've been picking up prints and such off etsy as I see them. But I've out a spending ban on myself until I get through the next couple of mths. Losing 40% pay being on disability and I still need to replace a bouncer chair and a stroller. Thankfully we still have cot and change table from before.

Memphisbelly · 03/10/2014 21:52

Oh no frenetic hope tomorrow is a better day. Sounds like heartburn. I remember it as being like bile sort or taste and warth in my throat like I am going to vom but I don't. Thrn later when it got worse it was an intense heat in my chest/throat.

Memphisbelly · 03/10/2014 21:56

My friend has just had a baby and is having a really rough time baby is up literally every hour and not feeding well feel really sorry for her and scared for myself Confused

jenmcspen · 03/10/2014 22:06

Not posted for a while as have been feeling a bit sorry for myself this week and have also been super busy. Sorry to hear that the glow is still elusive for quite a few of us! Wishing everyone a relaxing weekind (I get one off a month and it is this weekend so looking forward to a rest!)

blankfornames · 04/10/2014 04:07

Is anybody else having a nightmare with insomnia this pregnancy? At least it's preparing me for when the baby actually does arrive! The sleepless nights won't take a beat out of me then!!
I'm so tired though but guaranteed not to fall back asleep and it's only 4o' clock Sad

tiredvommachine · 04/10/2014 04:49

Blank, that sucks! Yes I get where you're coming from. I wake up so early but can't get back to sleep and is rubbish. I'm at work tonight until 7 am and I know I will fall asleep when I get in but will probably wake about 11 ish and not be able to get back to sleep, which is no good when I'm back in at 9 pm for another night shift. Rubbish! X

JacktheLab · 04/10/2014 08:09

Morning all,

Operation tidy the house has started in ernest!!! Honestly, I'm not usually this boring!!!

My heartburn really is a burning sensation in the top of my chest, rather than feeling sick. But as the baby moves upwards, all your internal organs are getting pushed upwards too and compressed inside the rib cage, so it's very likely that you would feel sick as its harder to digest your food I guess - thats my understanding anyway!

I also get insomnia at about half two to three am each morning, sometimes I can get back to sleep quite quickly and sometimes I might as well get up for an hour and do some housework! My dh works away one night a week and on that night I do just turn on the ipad and catch up with everyone, might as well!

So, on with the tidying! Need somehow to fit a double bed, two bed side cabinets and a double matress into the back of the car and we have to bring DS as we don't have anyone to look after him, so could be an interesting drive this morning!!!

donkir · 04/10/2014 08:11

Blank that's rubbish that your not sleeping. I'm up and down with good nights and bad nights. I'm sure it's all good prep for baby.
Ds is away at his dad's this weekend and oh has managed to get a Saturday off. Probably his last weekend day until baby arrives so we're off to Norwich baby shopping. I'm hoping to come back with everything Grin think oh might put his foot down.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

jenmcspen · 04/10/2014 08:41

Happy shopping donkir! OH and I had a nursery advice appt at john lewis and bought a few bits as they were on price match and really cheap (baby monitor is 60 in boots, 21 in jl, plus I get discount Grin )
Nursery has been re plastered so is a painting weekend for me

Memphisbelly · 04/10/2014 08:54

Blank I take hours to get to sleep but am usually ok once I get there there. Hours of itching, restless legs anf mindnumbing boredom!

Hope you all have a great day shopping and sorting houses....is this nesting already? Grin My plan for the weekend is to finally do the blind for baby room! But I have work first which means I have to put a bra on and my boobs will want to be ripped off for next 6 hours as they will itch that much....its official, I am so desperate to enjoy pregnancy and it has took me so long to actually fall pregnant but I hate it. I feel guilty for saying it but I really do.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 04/10/2014 09:02

Sounds like people are nesting!!Grin

We are living at MILs as we are having our kitchen done and a garage conversion ... Very strange at MIL I want to be at home! But I'm off to look at paint, tiles and wallpaper I LOVE decorating ... designing more than doing!

BanglesSpangles · 04/10/2014 09:03

Morning all
Lovely wedding yesterday, although late night, complemented by half a glass of champagne for the toasts has left me with something akin to a hangover- how is that even possible?

Must go out for a birthday present today, and need to do some tidying up so i can place my new bargain of the century armchair- £300 reduced to £75! Have been looking for one for the front room for ages, and its the perfect colour, but Ive never bought anything quite so impulsive in my life!

Minichuch · 04/10/2014 16:56

Well what a productive day - my awesome parents have been and ordered our travel system for junior Grin think they are as excited about it as us lol

Bangonthedoor · 04/10/2014 16:57

Hi everyone, just checking in!

I wish I was nesting...I can't be bothered to do anything!!

I'm being pretty boring with nursery this time round. Our box room is white - which I'm leaving and just doing a bear/browny theme. Still got some nice bits but not going all out! It's lovely if you do though, with DD I made her room lovely bright colours with a jungle theme with wall stickers etc but I found it a bit of a pain when I wanted to change her room when she went into a big bed. At least if it's white, I can kind of do anything to it....that's my theory anyway!

As for sleeping, if I've got the opportunity I'm still sleeping amazingly. But DD still cries a lot some nights and DP is an awful sleeping partner! He's the one that keeps me awake most of the time. He went out last night so had the night on the sofa, DD slept through so I slept from 11pm-6am! Was lovely!

Bangonthedoor · 04/10/2014 16:57

That's great minichurch! How exciting!!

donkir · 04/10/2014 18:23

Well I've had a productive day, pram, car seat, crib, change mat and electric breast pump purchased. Eek!Grin
