MrsBadCrumble74 · 19/09/2014 17:09

Hope all you ladies are ok. I had a scan today to check on my low lying placenta and it has moved out of the way - so much so that I can deliver naturally if that's how it plays out. Woohoo to my placenta. Wine I was also given a sweep today - forgot how ouch that was and I'm 1cm dilated and cervix is thinning and stretchy. The midwife even touched the babies head Shock. So I'm guessing things might stir over the weekend...... I must admit to being a teeny weeny bit excited about meeting my little man soon. Grin Mind you given last time with dd1 I may be eating my words and still heavily pregnant this time next week lol.

gunwalloe · 19/09/2014 17:10

Are you having a vbac sazzle ?

Anyone planning a physiological 3rd stage? Went to our antenatal class at the hosp today and when I asked about it the MW basically gave me all the worst case scenarios for retained placenta including surgical scrapping out! The student MW said she has only ever seen 1 in 3 years. Seems likely the MW there don't have the experience and just want to use the injection. They said they would discuss it during labour but I am not likely to be making rational decisions then am I??? Would just prefer to give it a chance to come naturally first. Anyone got experience with this?

sazzle any scar pain should be checked out ESP if tender. I would call triage if it continues or gets any worse.

goats palpitations and tachycardia are as you said quite common, but also as frau said occasionally can indicate problems sometimes minor such as low hb. I suffer from this and my hr was 135bpm when I was admitted a few times ECG showed svt but all settled down and is something I just have to put up with! I would mention it to mw/dr if it continues as they may want to do further tests to check it out.

Hospital bag snacks I must start hoarding some! Granola bars/flapjacks are good as are sugary sweets/ glucose tabs and isotonic drinks we will be burning a lot of calories during labour so keeping energy up and well hydrated is key.

crumble glad placenta is out if the way! Fingers crossed sweep for something.

Hope yellow is getting on ok also excited

I am feeling so sick and have bad heartburn. House is a mess but felt too awful to tackle it today.

FlipFantasia · 19/09/2014 17:39

Kitty I'm planning a physiological 3rd stage - this is standard with my midwife practice along with delayed cord clamping (am in the US). I'll have the jab if it looks like I need it. With my last birth (vbac) on the NHS I had a managed one despite not wanting one on my birth preferences - tbh I was on a total high and had DD on my chest and didn't give a hoot how my placenta came out! It was fascinating to see it though - this amazing temporary organ that nourished the baby you gave birth to!

ExcitedCJ · 19/09/2014 18:08

Hi all. My DS arrived by CS around 12:30 today. 36 + 4 days weighing 8lbs 6oz. No ill effects of the GD, blood sugars all good with both of us. Looks like I can eat cake again!!! :)
CS was amazing, the team that carried it out where superb & the epidural has woren off already, so I can feel my feet again.
DS is currently having a BF & is taking to it like a duck to water.
I am delighted & sooooo in love. :)

Thanks buggerlugs and flip for your replies.

mum2kiss · 19/09/2014 18:54

Congratulations cj !! I'm convinced we'll be the first due date month thread to have no babies actually born in the due date month lol!

Finished up today! A few days working from home next week tying up loose ends and then I'm done...feel proud that I managed to make it to 37 weeks although I'm shattered!

Missus2ndwife · 19/09/2014 18:58

Huge congrats CJ!! Well done you xx
