OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fedupofrainydays · 26/09/2014 14:29

I find the CMPI stuff interesting. Ds1 had a lot lf those symptoms including the not lying flat, sick, inconsolable crying, tongue tie etc. I cut out dairy in my diet and he also had colief (medicine to help break down lactose). He's fine with dairy now though.

Think I might revert to soy milk again too, just in case.

Suprised the do tongue tie ops in your hospital yellow. They don't here - refer you to a clinic. With ds1 that was going to take 3 weeks so we went private to get his snipped. I don't understand why they wait so long here. Just overheard in another cubicle a conversation about tongue tie and 'do you have appointment for it' why don't they just do it here, it takes 2 seconds!!

Anyway, I think we can go home. I've had a series of meltdowns. Just so so tired I can't hold it together any more. But agreed I can go home and come back for further SPR tests if I'm worried. His test this morning was below the phototherapy line.

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 14:38

fedup - I wonder that about tongue tie too. They were talk

ing about it at the La Leche League meeting I went to - some people waiting 3 or 4 weeks of having a really bad time with breastfeeding before someone 'spotted' it. Surely it's a 2 second job to look for it on ALL babies as part of the other checks they do? Then if it's a problem, snip it before they leave hospital? If the big thing is that everyone must breastfeed, then surely that's one of the ways to stop people giving up, and loads less resource hungry than sending out midwives and health visitors on extended trips to houses.

YellowWellies · 26/09/2014 14:58

Fed up am so glad he's under the treatment line! Smile

We only got her tongue tie done today because there was a cancellation. We'd have had to wait 7-10 days.

I think her struggle with feeding is partly tongue tie, partly jaundice and partly being prem. Am just keeping expressing to get my milk in and to be able to syringe it into her.

Goats having had my catheter out this morning I did find myself wishing I'd have had a catheter during pregnant nights! Not having to worry about going for a wee would have been ace. I can actually highly recommend a CS - utterly different to what I expected and was a very calm and moving experience.

cabster · 26/09/2014 15:20

Good luck buggerlugs and tak1ng!

MW this morning and baby is back to back - better pump up the Swiss ball and get swivelling. Good news is that despite the (completely unexplained) excess fluid, baby is starting to engage so no worries about cord prolapse or going breech! Currently 3/5 palpable.

Just packing DD's overnight bag for her eventual trip to Grandma's, she's got new pyjamas for the occasion and Grandma is hiding a new dolly with a pushchair as a "present" from her new brother. 2+ time mums, are your kids getting a present from new DC and if so, what?

Kirstipops · 26/09/2014 15:36

My friend bought the Anna from Frozen doll for her daughter as a present from her newborn son, she thought she'd have to wait til Christmas for it so she thinks that her new little brother is the bees knees and apparently gave him lots of appreciative kisses and hugs, so cute!

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 15:52

My older nephew got a tennis racket from his new baby brother. I think it's attention more than anything though - when I went round to see the baby, I realised that I wasn't very interested in him, and instead checked my SIL was alright, then went and played tennis with the older one.

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 26/09/2014 15:55

goats that quilt sounds very similar to what I'm doing, although I suppose the amount of work depends quite a bit on the size of squares. I'm doing a cot-size, which is 45" x 60", and am trying to piece together 130 squares (and going slightly mad doing so). I don't have the time or the ability to concentrate for 10 hours in one day, but I've probably spent that long on it altogether so far. Guess I'm very slow!

yellow I sort of missed my catheter when it was removed post-cs. It's strangely liberating not to have to think about weeing! Great that they're dealing with your dd's tongue tie so quickly.

The stuff about cmpi is very interesting. My eczema cleared up after dairy was cut from my diet as a toddler (and I was a colicky baby for the first three months). Dd at age 5 barely consumes any dairy (except ice cream, and even then she struggles to finish a scoop) and she was a terrible sleeper. I will be keeping an eye out this time for some of those other markers, but I don't fancy cutting dairy out of my diet (ok, I would trade cheese for an end to sleep deprivation, no question, but I hope it doesn't come to that).

MundayCakes85 · 26/09/2014 15:56

Good luck today bug and tak1ng
Today I went to the garden centre for lunch with my mum- apparently this is where all the old people in Bournemouth go in the colder weather!!
2 days until EDD- having curry tonight, a long walk tomorrow and will attempt to DTD if possible.
Think everyone is getting to the fed up stage now, not long to go though.

binkybunny · 26/09/2014 16:14

Just had a lovely afternoon shopping in Stirling for nursing/ baby bits. might have overdone it a bit though as started having some very strong bh contractions and cold sweats while coming back up the motorway which made driving interesting !

Going out for dinner with friends tonight but really don't want to leave the sofa I've just landed on now.

Hope all's ok with the babies having various different issues.

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 16:20

Munday - I'm having 'bring it on' reflexology tomorrow morning. Somehow I doubt it'll do anything, bump still so high, child not engaged. Still, it's worth the money to have feet massaged for 90 minutes. Think I'll move my other booking to next Wednesday.

Boyfriend is avoiding the sex thing I think. I'm VERY unappealing at the moment, moaning and crying etc... and also just so knackered. I'm a bit scared to shag in case some other major part of my lady-bits falls off. It's all so tender! Not sure my stomach muscles can take it either. Boo.

YellowWellies · 26/09/2014 16:22

Goats get glucose tabs and lucozade to give you energy in labour perhaps?

STIGZ · 26/09/2014 16:44

mrsb thats bloomin shocking they havnt even got your first pay correct... I would be livid and as you say, you have plenty of other things to worry about without idiots mucking up your pay! Angry

YellowWellies · 26/09/2014 16:44

Oh and Cabster J got a £7 toy plane from L, with propellers that turn and everything. He's delighted.

L just managed to BF for an hour, both sides and popped off with a fat milky belch. She's now snoozing skin to skin. Think having the TT snipped has really helped. Fingers crossed that wasn't just a one off.

cabster · 26/09/2014 16:50

Munday hello Bournemouth person! All my inlaws and extended family are down there, would love to move down but the omens are not in our favour :(

No DTD for me as I very tastefully have thrush! Pregnancy is just so glamorous.

Still, every cloud... Found a still-sealed tube of Conceive Plus in my bedside drawer the other day and it's already up to a few quid on eBay. Let someone else DTD for a change!

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 16:50

Reflexology cancelled because she's a doula, and a client has just gone in to labour. FFS. AAAAAAAGH... I've been looking forward to that all week. Now I'll just have decorating the bathroom to 'look forward to'.

mrsb87 · 26/09/2014 17:15

stigz I'm not impressed. Not to mention they have now stopped doing paper wage slips (which is lovely for the trees) but that means its all online, I know my password etc for it all but its still telling me the password is wrong!! So I've now emailed two separate people at head office this morning and heard nothing from either of them. With it being Friday I bet they all buggered off early. Gotta love head office staff Hmm

I found out today an old work mate of mine took her own life on Monday...really not sure how it's making me feel to be honest. Can't get it out of my head. I worked with her sister too and I just can't imagine how she is feeling, they lost their Dad, Gran, Grandad and younger cousin all in the past couple of years.

Oh oh hang on just head back from one email. 50% success rate isn't too bad I guess.

MundayCakes85 · 26/09/2014 17:33

Bloody HR eh Mrsb hope they get it sorted for you sharpish on Monday morning. I'd be very Angry indeed.
Cabster it's definitely a lot nicer down here to where I grew up. DH is from the Midlands so his family are quite a way away Wink Looking forward to walks on the beach with baby soon

Lily31 · 26/09/2014 17:34

Anyone else feel like they just want to nap? Went for lunch with a friend and had a nap when I got home. Feel like I need another nap now... Lazy bones Smile

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 17:46

I need to nap, I just can't. Either can't sleep for random unknown reason, or loads of people around making builder type noise.

fatpony · 26/09/2014 17:47

Very interesting about the milk intolerance stuff - something to watch out for. At our nct breastfeeding class last night the teacher told us that at one central London hospital the waiting list for a tongue tie snip was 6 weeks so many people went private. Astonishing!

Finished work today (apart from two days end of next week including one day of board meeting, joy) but feel strangely flat and a bit tears. Reality striking home? Going to go and have a bath and wait for DH to get home with curry, then strictly come dancing to try and cheer myself up.

PunkyBubba · 26/09/2014 17:48

So sorry to those who have lost friends/colleagues. :(

Congrats to those with new babies, and hoping they are all happily home soon!

Cabster, I was thinking about you today as unfortunately my baby isn't behaving as well as yours! I had another scan for excess fluid (also still unexplained) and it had increased and baby still transverse, so have been admitted to the hospital as it is too risky if my waters break at home due to the cord prolapse possibility.. So looks like I might be here for a week and a half when they have provisionally booked me in for a c-section. Totally opposite to previous birth with DS, who was a lovely straightforward hypnobirth in a midwife led unit with no complications at all. Just goes to show what everyone says, you can hope for a certain type of birth, but if baby has other ideas there is very little you can do about it!

pusscous · 26/09/2014 17:54

Congratulations to yellow and porcito. The cs sections sounded a really positive experience, have been half tempted to request one, I have s really lovely OB who is accomodating.

Fed up your birth story was s really good read thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear that you are still back and forth to the hospital , I hope your ds symptoms improve once and for all.

Mrsb I was mad on your behalf about the pay inaccuracy hope you get it resolved as you don't need to tge stress and hassle

Munday hello from a poole person. Was that Haskins by any chancd? I could while away a few hours in there and hobby craft. Wish I was there even for wet and cold! Temperature is going back up to over 30 in a few days.

Trying to online shop for the last few things, is really hard when sites won't delver to my location unless I use the usa variant but then I'm blocked from using a UK card. Expat life can be hard esp when waiting for payday but international payroll varies each month. Have seen lots of Christmas decorations on John lewis and next, and disappointed as most are not available for international shipping; live xmas and decorations.

Kirstipops · 26/09/2014 18:05

Ooft I hope they can bring it forward Punky, a week and a half's wait in hospital? :-O

pusscous · 26/09/2014 18:07

Also meant to day in my epic post good luck to taking and buggerlugs. Buggerlugs and I share edd I believe, 37 weeks Monday. Have been working towards that as a goal, thinking I wouldn't get much further. Have been wondering ever since when it will happen. Million pound question!

PunkyBubba · 26/09/2014 18:25

Thanks Kirsti, unfortunately I don't think they will bring it forward. Am now off on the hunt for food, as dinner wasn't enough food for a 'normal' person, let alone a heavily pregnant woman! I think being here is going to cost me a fortune in food and drinks. Hoping costa coffee is still open downstairs :)
