Good luck tak1ng!

And congratulations, porcito on your safe arrival!

goats you made a quilt in a day Shock how? I am putting together the top of a patchwork quilt for the baby, but I'd be doing extremely well if I get the whole thing finished by the end of next week.

Should really go and get on with it, particularly as the dr said this morning that they won't let me go overdue waiting for my vbac. I have an appt on Mon with a consultant, so will ask him what that actually means - whether they attempt induction, or simply book me in for a cs. Anyway, no November baby for me and I probably need to start upping the quantity of chilli powder in any curries I make from now on!

Kirstipops · 26/09/2014 09:49

Ooh good luck with your cs Taking!!
I had to ask DH last night if it was him who was farting, I wasn't sure if all my downward pressure was making me let em go unknowingly haha!
Stigz how awful and tragic :(
I went through a phase of "loose" bowel movements but they seem to be more um, fully formed again these days facepalm, very thorough evacuations tho Blush.
DH has decided his lurgy is now symptomatic of norovirusHmm, the boy is worse for Dr Google than any pregnant person!

binkybunny · 26/09/2014 09:55

Good luck Tak1ng how exciting you're meeting your little one today!

Goats DH had me in stitches the other night in his sleep he kept lifting up and letting one off then with a big smile and sigh roll over. Thankfully I'd resigned myself to not sleeping so I wasn't feeling too murderous!

My sleep patterns feel like they are getting ready for night feeds, I sleep for about an hour when I first go to bed, then I'm awake until around 2am, get another hour or two then I'm awake til DH goes to work at 6am after which I'll fall asleep again for anywhere between an hour and three. I'm making the most of enjoying some good reading and have got through all my old Chalet School books, Ben Foyle book, War of the Worlds, The Great Gatsby and just started on Northanger Abbey. I should really be doing reading off my uni book list but I'm planning that for night time feeds!

YellowWellies · 26/09/2014 09:56

I actually did have the classic loose bowel clear out the night before my waters went BTW. Soooo....... Smile

Stigz that's so sad Sad we lost a young friend in July its very hard. Be gentle with yourself.

Am typing this with the wee Miss crooked in one arm. She's so light! And I'd forgotten how lush newborn squeaks and snuffles are. She passed her hearing test this morn, also (touch wood, so far) is keeping jaundice at bay. Her blood sugars keep lurking round 2.6 - the threshold at which the docs worry so I'm happy for her to have FF top ups until her tongue tie is cut as FF is more carb dense. Fingers crossed we can move to EBF over the weekend once she's out of the woods.

She has tongue tie and a double crown - but not a sacral dimple or cleft chin, and a possible faint stork mark so that's enough midline indicators to suggest CMPI so I'll be going dairy free when home. Boo! But I'd rather avoid than face full on CMPI hell!

binkybunny · 26/09/2014 09:58

goats I was told cocodamol is fine but your baby can get dependent on it and be born with withdrawal symptoms so I have avoided it apart from once or twice when I literally couldn't move with back pain. I have been advised to get some for early labour though as paracetamol doesn't really touch the pain, I'm going to check with my mw first though.

gunwalloe · 26/09/2014 10:05

Apologys as ive only skim read so will probably have missed lots of news.
Congrats to all the new mummys so many babys coming thick and fast! Sorry some of you are having a tough time. I got home last nt baby is fab and breast feeding well one of my nipples is a state my own fault though for not latching properly ive send hubby out for cream.
My CS wasn't straight forward so not sure if I should do my story what happened was solely due to my body and the 3 cs and something I didn't know about my last CS so don't worry anyone due a CS. All the other ladies that had there sections were all up and bouncing around the day after making me look like a wimp.

OP posts:
ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 10:10

There's cocodamol in the house, but the last time I took it I fell asleep at the pharmacy counter in Boots. Maybe I'll save it for tonight if I don't manage to get some sleep on the sofa today.

This baby is still going mad. Moving ALL THE TIME - big sweepy movements rather than small kicks and tickles. Do they do that to help get themselves into the right position, or to move down or something?

frau - my quilt is only little - 1m by 1m ish because that was the size of the backing material I had. I started using this fabric for a hand patchwork quilt in 3d block pattern, but I know it's going to sit unfinished for probably the next 3 years, so I chopped the rest up yesterday and used the sewing machine to do a straight forward square quilt. Did diagonal machine stitch quilting lines on it and just wrapped the backing over the edge to finish it. Probably took me about 10 hours (with a lot of faffing/chatting to builders/reading the internet in between).

YellowWellies · 26/09/2014 10:20

Binky I was given cocodamol after my waters went to help me sleep thru contractions so I was rested for my 10am CS.

Gun I'm only just up and about after mine yesterday. Big mission is to put on clean pants!

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 10:29

Cocodamol it is at bedtime tonight then. Yay.

gunwalloe · 26/09/2014 10:32

How are you feeling yellow? Hubby had the pleasure of putting my knickers on yesterday :)
They've removed your catheter quickly! I was stuck with myn for ages only had my drain and catheter out a few hours before they let me go.
Did any of the csec ladies end up with a drain?

binkybunny · 26/09/2014 10:42

Ok adding a pack to my hospital bag final bits and pieces shopping list!

mum2kiss · 26/09/2014 10:49

Yellow I've just Googled those markers for CMPI. I so wish I'd known about them last time around! My daughter had a stork mark across her nose at birth, I'm pretty sure she had a double crown but he hair was so long and thick I can't quite remember! I think I recall the sacral dimple too! She made a clicking noise when breast feeding which I was told was just her being too lazy to latch properly! My milk supply was never great and I'm start to wonder if that was down to a possible tongue tie (hence the clicking!). She had what the doc said was colic and basically screamed every evening and clearly had tummy issues because her knees would always shoot up to her chest and she appeared to be in pain.

She self weaned at 5.5mths as soon as I started her on solids and reflux and eczema immediately cleared up! That was when I discovered that if I gave her dairy she would puke.

I will be keeping an eye out for all these markers this time around!!

Missus2ndwife · 26/09/2014 10:52

Yellow what is CMPI?? And why should I know about it?
*panics at being FTM

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 10:55

Interesting read. My boyfriend is dairy intolerant, so is his dad. Fair chance that small will be too. Also both nephews had colic problems and were on gaviscon very young. They both have double crowns. I need to do some more reading....

I however have some wheat issues, so let's hope that doesn't pass on too.

binkybunny · 26/09/2014 10:57

I've developed a lactose intolerance during pregnancy, it's such a Pita, hoping it goes away along with my meat aversion after birth!

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 11:06

I've got rid of my wheat problems - I've been eating so much bread! I can already feel it starting to ramp up again though as I get nearer the end. My rashes have started coming back. I must cut it out actually.. one more brioche Suisse from the amazing farmer's market tomorrow.

It's good to know though that if this baby is colicky, then my first thing to try will be cutting out dairy (for me if I'm breast feeding I mean). Easy to do in my house!!

STIGZ · 26/09/2014 11:06

Strange... My dd has double crown, stork mark & eczema .,, was told she had reflux and was put on baby gaviscon?? She was always crying & never slept ... Doesnt really eat much dairy now at four, thanks yellow i will be keeping this in mind.

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 11:27

Can you get away with goats milk/cheese or sheep milk/cheese with it?

Boyfriend can get away with small amounts of sheep cheese, and even less goats cheese. But some cheese. Milk, spread for bread etc he does soy.. which I can't stand.

Pregnantagain7 · 26/09/2014 12:14

goats totally agree with what binky said re cocodamol. You can take it but should be taken if things are really bad not as a regular thing as she rightly said the baby can become dependant but once in a blue moon is fine.
I was prescribed it last time for crippling spd and was amazing just to get a couple hours of relief when things were really bad. This time when I had a really bad uti the midwife gave me some and suggested having some at home in case I had anymore problems and as someone else said it's very good for early labour.

stigz so sorry to hear your awful news what a shock and his poor family Flowers

Pregnantagain7 · 26/09/2014 12:17

gun totally mis-read your post wondered why on earth your husband was wearing your knickers thought that you had made a very quick recovery!! Wink Blush

YellowWellies · 26/09/2014 12:47

CMPI is an intolerance and difficulty digesting the protein in cows milk which affects between 33 and 40% of babies. Some CMPI folk (approx 40%) can have problems with soy too as the protein is a similar size and shape; about 10% can tolerate sheep and goat proteins. Sadly Jonas had issues with both - though can handle trace soy now.

In a newborn alongside the physical midline defects I mentioned before, other symptoms include breast refusal (if dairy is in your diet), colic, reflux, eczema, loose nappies, vomiting, silent reflux, blood in spit-up and / or poo and being inconsolable especially when laid flat after a feed. Few babies will have all of these traits. A classic CMPI trait is only being able to sleep upright i.e. on you and dreadful sleep patterns. Its also known as delayed milk allergy as it may only be symptomatic after 4-6 weeks. I'm pretty sure that its no coincidence so many Mums give up BF at this point and that it is because the undiagnosed symptoms of CMPI kick in and very much mimic baby not getting enough or wanting Mum's milk. After a few nights of being screamed at all night lots of folk see FF as the only answer.

I'm cutting dairy out as soon as we are home as she has enough physical indicators to suggest it'll come along in 4-6 weeks. Sadly the hospitals attempt at a dairy free menu wouldn't sustain BF.

Boo her billirubin levels are borderline for jaundice so looks like it'll be photo therapy this afternoon. She is determined to copy her brother Sad

Missus2ndwife · 26/09/2014 13:11

Thank you Yellow!! That is very helpful to know

YellowWellies · 26/09/2014 13:49

Nurse has just wheeled her away for her tongue tie snip Sad

ohthegoats · 26/09/2014 14:11

I'm having such a bad 24 hours in the 'wish I wasn't pregnant anymore' department. I've just eaten 'lunch' - a tiny bit of left over pasta with one floret of broccoli from last night (although only left overs from boyfriend's dinner, because I can't really eat past 5pm), and now I can't breath properly. The minute there is something in my stomach I'm incredibly uncomfortable. In about an hour the heartburn will start, and the drugs aren't even touching it anymore.

And people wondered why I was living on jelly and icelollies... they are the only things that give me some sugar/calories, but don't actually fill my stomach properly, or give me heartburn. I'm going back to the jelly.. even though I'm so hungry it's nowhere near enough.

I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to actually 'do' labour on no calories, not being able to breath properly, raging heartburn and no sleep in 48 hours due to the above things. I actually found myself day dreaming about a C-section under general anaesthetic this morning... then I'd be 'asleep' for the first time in ages, would have a catheter so wouldn't have to worry about needing the loo the whole goddamn time, and would wake up NOT FUCKING PREGNANT ANYMORE. Notice no interest at all in the big positive thing that I'd get out of being not pregnant, just the loss of the negative things. Sounds like a blissful hour or two - wonder how much it costs to go private?

mrsb87 · 26/09/2014 14:25

Aww yellow it must be heartbreaking seeing that, but I guess when she returns bf will (hopefully) be a lot easier?
First proper month of mat leave and work have cocked up my money already. I should have had 3 weeks normal pay+2 wks holiday pay, it worked out to be a 5 week month for us and I have been pain nowhere near what I should have been. We were banking on 1 more month of decent money to sort a few last minute things out but I don't even think I've been pain what I'll get on my first months maternity pay. To top it off its Friday so I can guarantee I wont hear anything from head office til next week. Just what I need to be worrying about with my due date on Monday!
