Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrsb87 · 25/09/2014 17:23

Good luck bugs, I've been a bit like that but the midwife said my waters hadn't gone so I assumed just lots of discharge, lovely!
kirsti I'm with you on being SO uncomfortable. I feel like I've been kicked in the froo and my lower back is killing me. Starting to be a bit of moody moo Angry

I've had more discharge in the last few weeks anyway so I'm a bit concerned that if I was to only have the "dribbly" type of water breakage I won't be able to tell the difference?? Lugs how did the hospital decide it was just discharge?

Kirsti the smell of amniotic fluid is incredibly distinctive (sweet, high and slightly earthy - not unpleasant) you'll never have smelt anything like it before.

I have a maddening itch from the diamorphine they numb your back with. It wears off in 12 hours so all in all I'm feeling very lucky.

Lillemor has now had four feeds - utter piglet! She's determined to bring my milk in. Fingers crossed it keeps jaundice at bay. Her blood sugars and temperature maintenance are fine so far too. Fingers crossed.

Missus2ndwife · 25/09/2014 18:11

Yay Yellow!! Big congrats to you on the safe arrival of Lillemor.

Thanks Fedup for your birth story. I'm feeling a little spooked this week and your story makes me feel like I can do this

Binky we bought out cot from Kiddicare. It's whitened was on sale for £199 to £100 I think. Husband put it together in no time and says it's seems pretty sturdy. We bought a separate mattress from John Lewis for £140 as I'm a firm believer in a good mattress and good sleep regardless of age

Congrats Yellow! Hope your little one keeps feeding well.
Thanks for the birth story Fed up.
Good luck Lugs.
Another day flown by on maternity leave... Don't know how I ever fitted work in Smile

Shirehobbit · 25/09/2014 18:30

I can't say I noticed a distinctive smell from my waters when they went with DS, but even though they didn't go in cinematic floods, the trickles felt distinguishable from discharge - they were really warm, for a start.
You're in the right place to find out, either way lugs - hope all is ok.

fedupofrainydays · 25/09/2014 18:38

bugs my waters did not smell at all. I was told they were sweet smelling but mine just didn't smell of anything! Mine were pinky and yellowy in colour though. Not clear.
Good luck!

cabster · 25/09/2014 19:22

Congratulations porcito and yellow! So pleased you got peaceful CSs and your little girls are doing well.

Thanks for the story fedup, the more I read the more empowered I feel.

missus Thanks for the advice! I'll be using foil disposable trays and doing things like cottage pie, macaroni cheese, lasagne and maybe a curry or casserole.

DH, despite knowing I'm going to a neighbour's in an hour and he's doing solo bath time and bedtime, has just started feeding DD love hearts. Good luck with that sunshine!

LondonJen · 25/09/2014 20:13

Thanks for sharing Fedup Smile

Sounds like a plan Sazzle. Hope your poor little mite feels better.

ohthegoats · 25/09/2014 20:24

I made a quilted blanket thing today - not really for a cot, but the sort of thing you put on the sofa before you put down pukey/leaky baby. Feel all crafty.. it was the only way to zone out all the builders noise.

I've definitely had the 'more discharge' thing going on this last week - but nothing of note. If I had to put money on myself in a spreadsheet, I'd go for 7th October.

Kirstipops · 25/09/2014 20:57

Goats I'm saying 6th October for me, race you Grin.
You made a blanket in a day?? Impressive! My friend was saying how her aunt made a "blankie" out of baby clothes that had been grown out of, what a nice idea :)

Hope you get to go home, lugs - as I've said before, my waters went without labour starting and I was able to stay at home until it started properly (though there was a time limit before I needed to go on IV antibiotics)

fedupofrainydays · 25/09/2014 21:11

Glad my story has helped people feel more positive about their upcoming births!

Sadly, we are back in hospital :( more tests over night. I'm so anxious for my poor little boy. Just want him to be well and healthy

Missus2ndwife · 25/09/2014 21:34

Oh Fedup - I hope he's ok. Fingers crossed and thinking of you xx

Shirehobbit · 25/09/2014 21:45

You must be exhausted, Fedup - I hope they find the answers they're looking for and you're both home soon x

STIGZ · 25/09/2014 22:17

Thinking of you & your little darling fed up .,, you must be worried sick but he's in the best place xx

My bed used to be my most favourite place in the world but Right now i dread going to it as im so bloody uncomfy, my sides are aching from lying on them .... This too will passGrin

mum2kiss · 25/09/2014 22:23

Fedup thanks for sharing your birth story :) sorry your boy needs more hospital care but you are in the best place. Hope he is home for good very soon.

I've been in bed since 8pm...feel like I'm coming down with something :( perhaps it explains my overly emotional state this morning?! I really don't want a cold or flu right now though!

ohthegoats · 25/09/2014 22:31

Me too mum2. Woke up throaty, then snotty arrived throughout the day. Boyf came home from work in same state. I've been in bed since 9, but despite taking paracetamol to knock me out, baby going nuts and BH being quite annoying.

YellowWellies · 25/09/2014 22:41

Fed up looks like Lilly might have jaundice too, and a tongue tie. Which hopefully will be snipped tomorrow.

She's determined to copy her big brother!

BadgerInBury · 25/09/2014 22:52

My chap and I watched Don't Drop The Baby tonight on BBC3. Goodness me. I particularly liked the scenes where the two guys who are about to become fathers sat in the cinema, faced contorted with disgust as the screams of an unseen woman giving birth rang out around them. I also felt inspired by the very relevant scene where Silly Fringe Boy touched a snake and the one where Mr Doorman was shown how grim placentas are and nearly threw up on the floor. I definitely feel great about childbirth now.

(do not watch this show)

fedupofrainydays · 25/09/2014 22:57

Thanks ladies. I am knackered. From worry and lack of sleep combined. They have done some blood tests to see if any underlying issues. Awaiting those results now.

I'm Debating top up formula feeding now to see if that helps. Thought we were getting there with the bf but now I'm not so sure and will do anything for him to be well.

DH had to just drive over with stuff so we can both stay. He had to bundle ds1 in the car to get here at 9.30. Poor little chap. Fortunately he went back to sleep.

It's so hot in here too. I'm in my 4th bed on the special care unit. Only two more I've not yet been in.
