sazzlehopes · 22/09/2014 12:23

captain welcome back. Congrats on your little one, and thanks for sharing a great birth story and for also reminding me that just because my first birth didn't go quite to plan, doesn't mean the second won't!

goats love he link.....hilarious photos!

yellow off to read the latent phase link....I'm hoping I'm in one. I lost more plug yesterday when I was convinced I couldn't have any left! And all the twinges, stabby pains and aches makes me think surely it'll start any minute now??!!

magichandles · 22/09/2014 12:58

MrsCaptain Congratulations, I'm so glad you had such a positive experience this time!

I'm definitely still all over the shop emotionally at the moment. Scan this morning (35 + 4) and baby weighs estimated 6lbs 12oz, which is on the high side, but still within range. What is worrying me is that she's jumped from the 50th to the 88th percentile in the 4 weeks since my last scan - GD clearly not completely under control.

So I'm pretty on edge right now, will see what the MWs and hopefully a consultant say tomorrow.

kittyvet · 22/09/2014 13:16

Congratulations mrsc!
Got my mama tens hire from www.tens.co.uk and it arrived as promised at 37 weeks. Only cost about £20. Haven't tried it out yet! Bit scared of the sensations- remember when I had electrical stimulation for physiotherapy and it felt weird! Not sure it will be the thing for me but decided to hire one just in case I love it!

gunwalloe · 22/09/2014 13:53

Bloods done, midwife said puking perfectly normal the pills I have to take tonight and in the morn should prevent it happening tomorrow. I met the other women who's in with me tomorrow morning she was excited rather than petrified wish I was that way inclined.

gunwalloe · 22/09/2014 13:56

captain it's nice to know others feel the same. I had my pre op on Friday but it was to early to take bloods so had to go up this morning just to do that.

Kirstipops · 22/09/2014 14:17

My friend had her baby! The so-called false labour pains at midnight as a result of the second prostin gel were the real deal, she managed by on codeine (which she'd got to ease the "false" labour pains!) and gas and air. A little boy 7lbs 4 (not the big bruiser her growth scans had her believing!) born just before lunch. She and hubbie were so sure they were having another girl so have no boys names chosen, so chuffed for her Grin

ohthegoats · 22/09/2014 14:39

My cousin had her baby this morning too - c-section (planned apparently, although I didn't know that). Boy, 8lbs 4 with no name. They knew they were having a boy too, but clearly have similar boy's names issues as we do!

That's it, I'm the last of my 'real life' friends and relatives due around the same time to pop. Boo... they've all been early.

Ran up and down the pool for 45 minutes this morning, did some leaping around in there too, swam and floated... sex tonight I think. Also going to go and buy some pineapple, (because I fancy it, not because I expect it to do anything.) Thing is, I've not even really dropped yet - all these period pains and BH are more than likely nothing at all.

Feel like a different woman to the one I was on Friday night too. Relaxing in late pregnancy is good for you, who knew!!

ohthegoats · 22/09/2014 14:47

I need to suspend my gym membership for 2 months - either I start that suspension on 1st October or 1st November.

1st October, might still be pregnant (probably will be)... and swimming pool is only place where feel good and relaxed at the moment. Could have another 10 days of needing it at that point.

1st November, will already have wasted 2 weeks worth of membership money.

To suspend October and November, or November and December? Oh the dilemma.... bearing in mind we want to go skiing early February, so will need some get fit time. Well, boyfriend will anyway.

First world problems...

bumpbangbump · 22/09/2014 14:56

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If you cancel October you'll be late if you cancel from November you'll pop on October 1st... Go with your gut. If you need the swimming then hang on in there!

Glad to hear of more safely arrived babies even if they're not on thread.

ohthegoats · 22/09/2014 15:18

Builders are vibrating concrete into the foundations... whole house is shaking, can feel it vibrating right up my fanjo. If this doesn't shift 'small' then it's definitely in for the long haul. Haha.

STIGZ · 22/09/2014 15:37

Hi ladies, glad to hear of more safe arrivals & hopefully tests and other stuff for some of the early arrivals will be over soon? I would be worried sick also so i am chuffed to be still pregnant at 35 + 4 after my wee scare!

Sciatic pain is gettin worse for me, it comes & goes but each time its happning its travelling further down my leg and lasting a bit longer than the one before, its actually frightning me and can honestly say its more painful than a contraction at 9cm dilated but doesnt last as long, thank f**k Confused. I managed to go into two shops today and had to come home as i was stopping in my tracks, holding onto shelves and yelping like a bitch ... This pain mixed with pgp i must sadly say that this has got to be & will be my last pregnancy Sad

fatpony · 22/09/2014 16:13

Goats I also don't know what to do about my gym membership. Knowing me I.ll prob forget to cancel!

Gun- what exactly happens in the pre op appointment if you don't mind me asking? I have mine on the 30th... Are you delivering at 39 weeks or earlier?

LondonJen · 22/09/2014 16:55

Oo Stigz, ouch, sorry to hear it.

I've actually felt a bit better today. I wouldn't go so far as to say I had energy but not keeling over with tiredness and managed to get a lot done. Have tired myself out now mind and have back ache. Think just from doing things but you never know, have had small amount of back ache last 2 days. And some period pains. Not the two at the same time though. Plus sharp pains now and again. And a lot of feeling sick the way bad period pains make me feel even though the pains are not actually that bad. Hmm. Baby is ever so wriggly today, maybe it's just all from trying to engage? I dunno! Guess this could go on for a while judging from others' reports. Liked that latent thread Yellow!

gunwalloe · 22/09/2014 16:56

fatpony I had to go into the ward where they gave me a bed. Had BP and Urine done as I have GD they decided to do a trace ( I don't know why) I had to do two swabs to check for MRSA one in my groin and one up my nose. TBH when she said these two sites I breathed a massive sigh of relief I was dreading where she was going to ask me to stuff them.
Then the anaesthetist came round she asked me questions about past surgery and general health checked my back, hand and teeth. She told me all the risks and side effects (wish she hadn't) and answered all my questions I did come away feeling happy and in control as they are so relaxed about everything unlike me! Then the midwife came back and gave me the two sets of pills to take the night before and the morning of the c section and gave me special shower gel to use that kills bugs I have to wash with it the night before all over. You have to have bloods taken but it has to be within 48hrs of the section so I went back this morning for mine. Im delivering at 39 weeks.

Captainmcgraw · 22/09/2014 17:08

fatpony my experience today was similar to Gun's but just in clinic and all very quick. Fill in a form, bloods taken, given tablets but no shower gel (that sounds exciting!) and went on my way. Do feel much more relaxed now though.

gunwalloe · 22/09/2014 17:11

captain it smells horrible! your not missing out. Do you know how many others are in tomorrow with you?

OP posts:
ohthegoats · 22/09/2014 17:11

Ah, I missed the latent labour thread link - good one. I'm nowhere near that bad thank god. Basically as soon as I do any exercise (even climbing the stairs), I get BH going off, so involves me bent double, or stopping to see if I'm going to wee myself. The period pain is low level, but pretty much constant - I was like this for huge chunks of my pregnancy earlier on, probably the whole first tri and then chunks of second tri too - it only went away when the heartburn arrived!! So, period pain isn't really doing the waves thing, although it does feel worse when the BH happen. And it definitely gets worse in the evening - from now on in really. Lying on my left hand side stops it a bit, which is more comfortable. I'm not really sure that it's in any state to try and control and ramp up, feels too random still - or just too 'normal ache'.

This week I'm swimming and running in the pool every day for 45 minutes.
Raspberry leaf tea, 5 cups a day.
Some walking every day, even if it's really uncomfortable (it is).
I'm going to try sex, but I'm really not very in the mood... so might get going with the solo efforts, I'm sure that will help cramp everything up too. Sorry if TMI.

On Saturday I have a 'bring it on' reflexology appointment booked. If that doesn't work, I have searched out an acupuncture guy for next Tuesday.

If those things don't work then I'm going to retreat to my bed.

ExcitedCJ · 22/09/2014 17:28

It never rains but it pours! Still not out of hospital yet! DS is stable but it seems I may have developed post partum pre-eclampsia.
DH has everything packed in the car & room is cleared apart from car seat, DS & me!

gunwalloe · 22/09/2014 17:36

ohno CJ great that baby is stable but crap that your suffering still :(

OP posts:
gunwalloe · 22/09/2014 17:38

Do they still advise no swimming for baby until first lot of jabs? So much has changed in 8 years im hoping to go to Florida asap once shes here so will wait until first jabs if she can then go swimming.

Haha, spuff. Good word.

Lily31 · 22/09/2014 18:01

bugger seriously? Did not know that! I thought self service may help bring contractions on and the spuff was there to relax the tissue inside... Hmmm. Might have got my old wives tales muddled...

excited poor you, it's good that they have spotted the signs so early.

misskipper · 22/09/2014 18:35

Pls can I join you?? It's nice to know I'm not alone in the final stretch!

EDD 4th Oct (surprise). No nursery yet! Crib built today - hospital bags packed 2 days ago. Talk about cutting it fine.

Baby fully engaged for over a week now. BH after exercise same as ohthegoats - too knackered to try sex!!!

Captainmcgraw · 22/09/2014 18:45

Feeling for you CJ

Gun ok you can keep your stinky shower gel! Don't know how many others are in tomorrow but was told a few weeks ago to be prepared to be last on list as no additional health problems. Have lots of Orange is the New Black downloaded onto iPad to watch whilst waiting.
