OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Kirstipops · 21/09/2014 23:17

My friend is in hospital just now being induced (she's had some pre-eclampsia issues and has a blood condition which meant they wouldn't let her go into labour on her own), just had her second lot of prostin gel and nothing doing but labour pains which her mw has said are false, baby is still "miles away" and she's to stay awake for BP checks as it is so high, think it's going to be a long night for her, poor girl. She has no WiFi or data signal so I've been googling things for her as her hubbie has had to go home! She's had a difficult pregnancy, so I'm hoping this labour won't be as difficult and long as her first was 3 years ago but she's a trooper so I know she'll be OK, just sitting here counting my blessings.

Kirstipops · 21/09/2014 23:20

goats hope the paracetamol kicks in soon - though if you're keen for it to develop into something more "productive" I'll cross fingers behind my back for that too Grin

ohthegoats · 21/09/2014 23:37

kirsti not really wanting it to develop yet, and I'm sure it wont. Going to be the same as my mate who did this for a week, can just feel it in my waters. I want a week to put my feet up and do some paperwork sorting before I lose interest in doing any of it. Been discussing options with boyfriend this evening. I've got consultant appointment on Tuesday when no doubt they'll start talking induction dates. Pretty sure I'll refuse all of it and request monitoring. I thought I might say I'll consider a sweep after 41 weeks, but I don't really want that either. Seems to me that sticking things up cervixes is just wrong at this stage. Did you decide against sweeps this week?

BadgerInBury · 21/09/2014 23:51

fedup just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you and your little boy tonight. Hopefully this will be the last long night of this kind for you. Chin up and make sure you're getting what rest you can.

ohthegoats · 22/09/2014 00:14

amusing..

ExcitedCJ · 22/09/2014 00:16

Hurrah, hurrah! My DS just passed his BF heel prick test! Despite the TT he is latching on and feeding well and my milk is def coming in, it was dribbling out of the wee blighters mouth after a mammoth cluster feed earlier.
Just got the jaundice bloods and the hearing test tomorrow and we can go home! Wink
Right, off for 5 mins shut eye before next feed.
Promise I will catch up tomorrow. Hope everyone is well & Fedup I hope you are barring up OK.

Kirstipops · 22/09/2014 00:53

Great news CJ!! Hopefully you'll be homeward bound tomorrow then!
Loved that Tumblr site Goats, the hands-free breast pump pics particularly tickled me! I'm not going to get the sweep tomorrow, if I'm still hanging around in two weeks time (when my next appointment will be) I'll take it when I'm 9 days over, seems reasonable. MW said "We can book you in for induction then too but hopefully you'll have had the baby by then anyway!" If you turn down an induction do they get you to come in daily for a trace then? I'd want to give it a couple of weeks after my due date for baby to come before starting any "intervention". Reading about how European countries have different (I.e. longer) "gestation" lengths gives me a bit more impetus to drag my heels. Of course if there was risk to baby or me I'd give in though!

SweetPeaPods · 22/09/2014 05:16

Great news Excited.
Fedup sorry to hear Rory is back in hosp.
Kirst sounds like your friend is in for a long night.
Sorry if I've missed anything else. I need to read further back.
I'm getting loads of lower back pain and period type pain in lower back which keeps making me think things are starting to happen. Don't remember getting back pain with ds so it's maybe not related at all!!
I would love to get rid of this chesty cough before little one arrives though it's driving me mad!

SweetPeaPods · 22/09/2014 05:22

Goats that tumblr site is very funny. Some really good ones there.

binkybunny · 22/09/2014 05:59

Hurrah excited hope you managed some sleep last night?

Love the Tumblr link, that's so what my life is going to be like with a child, all white wearing smiles and sleep Wink

porcito · 22/09/2014 06:40

Sorry to hear Rory's back in fedup - hope you get some good news tomorrow.

Love that link goats! I'm still trying to work out how people manage to look vaguely glowing on pregnancy photos! At best I've looked mildly haggard and pale with a fat back.

I think we're definitely hoping to share a lot of the newborn stuff equally, but his 12 hour days mean I'll do more night things initially. I'm still worried about going back to work in December with sleep deprivation. At least I won't feel back about drinking a whole barrel of coffee by then...

Baby shower was excellent, if unorthodoxly drunken for everyone else. Got some lovely things, discovered that jarred baby food tastes vile, and that I'm faster at drinking from a baby bottle than DP! A good weekend's work!

Hope everyone who's felt bad this weekend gets a reprieve tomorrow!

Lulu298 · 22/09/2014 07:05

Morning all. Am 35 weeks today and it's my last week in work - hurrah! I like work but physically I'm ready to stop. Anyone else having seriously aching knees and hips throughout the night? I wake up every two hours for a wee or to turn over to try and alleviate the pain in my joints. Any tips? Have tried adding a duvet under the sheets for extra padding but it doesn't seem to help Sad

Goood news cj!

YellowWellies · 22/09/2014 07:16

Haha that tumblr page is spot on!

CJ oh heel prick tests that brought back some memories. Great news on the results though xx

SweetPeaPods · 22/09/2014 07:17

Lulu have you tried putting a pillow or cushion between your knees? Meant to help your hips. Can put one between ankles too if it helps.
Enjoy your last week of work.
I don't think anyone warns you that pregnancy can make you feel like you have the body of an 80 year old!

porcito · 22/09/2014 07:26

lulu, I've got a V shaped pillow that's great for aching hips/knees... (and about 10 others strategically placed around my body...)

ohthegoats · 22/09/2014 07:35

First proper day of mat leave and wide awake at 5.52. Grrr. Hadn't been up for the loo since 2.45 though, which means 3 houes sleep in a row. Exciting stuff. Period pain been here all night, and had dreams about waters breaking, but nothing else going on. Freaky dream about being told I am'repregnant' at the beginning again due to having two uteruses. Father was a bloke I went to school with who I've not seen in years. Woke myself up shouting 'WHAT?'

Imagine going straight from birth to morning sickness and starting it all again... urgh, literally my worst nightmare right now,

mum2kiss · 22/09/2014 07:45

Goats why would you want to put that thought in anyone's mind?! 3rd trimester is pretty miserable but first trimester having just been through labour and now parenting a newborn?! That's just evil! No wonder you woke up screaming! "Repregnant" Lol!

ohthegoats · 22/09/2014 08:11

Even my subconscious is pissed off with being pregnant!!

YellowWellies · 22/09/2014 08:25

A lady on my last thread fell pregnant within 6 weeks of giving birth, yep she has a

MrsCaptainReynolds · 22/09/2014 08:25

Have remained a lurker while the thread has moved too fast for me, but as I was on at the start hope you all won't mind a birth announcement here!

MrsCaptainReyolds, DS2, 21st Sept 23.50, 7lbs 3oz (EDD was 1st Oct)

Birth couldn't have been more different from first. DS1 involved 2 days of labour, horrendous back to back presentation, epidural x2, then spinal and eventual forceps delivery plus 2nd degree tear.

DS2 -did natal hypnotherapy and TENS from tightenings at 11am. Decided to go to unit at 22:00. First examination demonstrated 4cm dilated and heavily bulging membranes. Sudden urge to push, membranes exploded and baby was crowning! Continued to push thereafter and baby out by 23.50. Can't believe it all happened in the same day. Feel fab, and quite exhilirated, compared to first time when it felt like I'd been run over.

Good luck to everyone!

ohthegoats · 22/09/2014 08:43

Congratulations MrsReynolds, sounds almost enjoyable!

FlipFantasia · 22/09/2014 08:44

MrsC congratulations! What a wonderful birth story!

ExcitedCJ · 22/09/2014 08:58

Congrats MrsC delighted for you. :)

YellowWellies · 22/09/2014 09:01

Yey Mrs C! I'll have one of those please!

Goats I found this thread about long latent labour and well, its proof enough to me (eyeballs anyone suggesting that one anecdote does not statistical proof make) that they are linked to quick and easy births. Always. Every time. No doubts. Etc www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childbirth/900286-Aargh-is-this-the-longest-latent-phase-of-labour-EVER/AllOnOnePage

Kirstipops · 22/09/2014 09:06

Yay congrats MrsCaptain! I could hug you for that birth story as natal hypno and TENS is what I'm planning too, that's great you had a much better experience this time around!
