Sorry to hear you're having a rough time CJ. One tip I've heard to help with expressing is to think about your baby while you're doing it, maybe look at a photo or keep something that smells of him nearby? Hope things get easier for you soon.

Glad to hear you're home fedup, and that you can see past the building chaos! Is DS1 feeling better now?

Good luck to everyone with signs that things are starting to happen.

fedupofrainydays · 20/09/2014 22:40

Yes he is thanks hefner and eating like a horse to make up for it!

Sounds like you are doing all the right stuff cj and that's the best you can do for ds. Keep drinking lots of water too. Thinking of hou tonight.

bugs I did 3.5 stone last preg and at least 2.5 with this one. Will weigh myself tomorrow to find out what's fat! (Or boob - they are HUGE!)

Good luck for those with early labour signs - it tends to all kick off at night so wonder of that's any of you tonight Grin

Kirstipops · 20/09/2014 22:43

I've gained the same Lugs Grin! Though I don't know my baby's weight, just that it's 50th centile. I'm actually amazed I didn't gain more, since the majority of the weight went on near the beginning and I've only gained the last half stone or so in the last few weeks. BF'ing, healthier eating (hoping my sweet tooth dies off!) and walks to the nearby country park with baby in sling will hopefully do the job bit by bit, but I won't beat myself up if it takes it's time.
Great that you're home fedup, so chuffed for you!
CJ sorry you're having such a tough time, glad we have such a knowledgeable and supportive bunch here :)

ohthegoats · 20/09/2014 23:24

Nice that you're home fedup - interesting that you've found some peace with the building stuff too, that's going to be me in the next few weeks and I'm hoping that I care less when something more important is going on for me to think about!

No bh going on tonight, bit of grumbly period pain but nowt compared to last night. Still got hot water bottle on lady garden area to soothe stabby pains though! Think maybe was just my body giving me the hint to get on with finishing touches. Also gave boyfriend a wake up call regards actually knowing where everything is, and even what we've got. He actually willingly came to Mothercare. Was busy picking up size 4 nappies and on the way to the till, but the thought was there!

fedupofrainydays · 21/09/2014 08:38

Reporting back - lost a stone in the birth / first few days so total of 1.5 stone of fat and boobs! Probably a fair bit of fluid still too as very sweaty at night

ohthegoats · 21/09/2014 08:51

Nice! Won't take long to shift that if you did it before. If I lose a stone in the birth, I'll be lighter than I was before. Massively flabbier though!

sazzlehopes · 21/09/2014 08:53

Bugs I think 2 stone is considered totally normal so don't worry about the extra half! I'm sure you'll lose it gradually over the next few months. Baby may well weigh 6lbs but there is a big placenta in there and a load of fluid too!

My body is such a tease!!! So many pains that make me feel like things are beginning - I go to bed expecting to be woken and then nothing!! Although I'm sleeping better than I have been the last month or so so that's a bonus... Ahh the anticipation of it all Grin

fedup so glad you are home and the building work doesn't seem to stress you out anymore! CJ sorry you're having a rough time. I am another one that has experience of the milking into the syringe. Such hard work but all ok in the end and my ds had no problem gaining weight when I was allowed home and bf really well. I hope you have a better day of it all today x

Shirehobbit · 21/09/2014 08:55

Baby+placenta+fluid=lots Wink

Me23 · 21/09/2014 09:01

fedup pleased that you are home with Lo. It's such a lovely feeling to walk into your house with new baby.

excited sorry that baby is in scbu, hopefully it won't be for too long and your milk will come in today/tomorrow.

Food shopping in a bit will pick up some hospital bag snacks. Also need another blanket for baby (plus a million other things but they can be bought once baby is here)

ohthegoats · 21/09/2014 09:01

Sazzle - my body also a tease. Nothing overnight at all, lots of getting up to wee between 11pm and 3am, then slept like the dead until 7am. Deepest I've slept in months, woke up with no idea where I was. I'm going to the gym - don't ache at all today. Maybe I really did just need to sit down for 24 hours. Hope now that I get a week at least of mat leave to relax.

mum2kiss · 21/09/2014 10:02

I was constantly peeing last night too! Very annoying with a downstairs toilet! Very tempted to just pee in a bucket but sods law tells me my dd would come bounding in and knock it over every morning!

So my dd is still not keen on the idea of a sibling. She doesn't like that we have all this baby stuff piling in even though I try to make sure she gets things she needs at the same time and she's told me she will be having nothing to do with me or the baby once it arrives! Really hope she changes her mind or these next few months Are going to be very interesting!

Dp is building the crib today...I think all these mumsnet babies has put the fear of God into him!

Hugs to those who are having problems. It's still very early days and so much has happened. All will be fine in the end :)

ohthegoats · 21/09/2014 10:28

I think I'll make the crib today - when is too soon to get it put by the bed do you reckon? Maybe I'll make it up, faff to see how/where it fits by the bed, sort out the tying it to our bed, then put it in the spare room ready for boyf to sort it out before I come home.

ohthegoats · 21/09/2014 10:29

Also, I reckon if I'm super organised then the baby will hang on in there for a week/fortnight, just to spite my brilliant preparation!!

ExcitedCJ · 21/09/2014 11:12

I've decided to be brighter today. Good nights sleep & all that!
So ... Things I am thankful for today. A gorgeous wee baby boy
A fab DD & wonderful DH
The best MIL money can buy
Really fab MW's and Aux nurses & neonatal team at hospital
On the road to stabilisation of Blood Sugars for my DS & totally OK for me
A side room off ward ( I was a bit of a nervous breakdown case yesterday, think I was frightening people hence removal from public view!)

Second giant post section poo, I was too frightened to go until day 5 post last time!
You guys and your knowledge & support.
Off to pump!

mrsb87 · 21/09/2014 11:14

Great stuff cj. I'm glad things are looking up for you Smile

bumpbangbump · 21/09/2014 11:39

So lovely to read excited! Hope today is filled with things to be thankful for x

ohthegoats · 21/09/2014 11:44

Good plan cj - I'm a fan of the 'things to be happy about' or the 'things that won't exist in a few weeks' type lists. Keep looking at it!

FlipFantasia · 21/09/2014 11:46

CJ great to hear you sounding more upbeat. And well done on the pooing! I still remember my first post c-section poo (day 5 and was terrified!).

Mum2 Sounds tricky with your DD but I bet she'll be chuffed once baby is here (though feeling annoyed/displaced is pretty normal I'd have thought). We have a book called Pecan Pie Baby precisely about an older girl who is sick of all the baby talk about the new sibling! My kids (younger than your dd) are excited but still love that book (their favourite line: 'I'm sick of that ding dang baby!).

Lovely to hear of everyone getting a bit more sorted. Have done a bit of that too this weekend. Am going to wash all the washable bits of the bugaboo we bought second hand this morning as we set up the pram bit last night I officially love it! Also think I'll have DH install the car seat, mainly as we'll have to move DS and DD's seats so may as well get them used to their new views!

clairemiss79 · 21/09/2014 11:48

cj that list is great. Your hosp sounds pretty good and your list is making me even more impatient to have my baby. Is any one else counting down days and hours?? I've counted my remaining time in episodes of breaking bad and strictly and have even started comparing myself to the use by dates on the cheese etc :)
I can't wait!!!!

mum2kiss · 21/09/2014 12:04

Lol claire! I need to start comparing my self to use by dates!

I might have a look at getting a book flip. I was also thinking to get a big sis tshirt and a gift from the baby...

We installed the car seat base in dps car yesterday so it's ready to go once we leave hospital. Not much space in there now with dd's seat next to it!

FlipFantasia · 21/09/2014 12:07

Lol Claire I do the use by dates for cheese etc too (as does DH).

Mum2 pressies from baby definitely a winner I'd have thought. Also making sure she gets plenty of attention from visitors etc.

fedupofrainydays · 21/09/2014 12:09

Ah cj that's a great list! And glad we feature on it too Wink
I got DH to get me some lactulose to help me poo. Wonder stuff!
Not a bad night here either bit still feel totally spaced out.

gunwalloe · 21/09/2014 12:14

Glad your feeling better today CJ

When I was in for pre op they said they are trying out a 1 nt stay for elcs so I said yes plz but I'm not sure if I will manage to move my bowels that quickly do they still require you to have done this before your discharged?

Lulu298 · 21/09/2014 12:17

Go cj! Love the list. We're all rooting for you! Grin

What are your hospital bags like in terms of size? I've got a big wheelie but apart from that nothing and wondering if wheelie is too big?
