Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bumpforme2014 · 20/09/2014 09:32

Hi everyone! Sorry for not being in touch sooner, it's all been a bit of a whirlwind! I stayed home for a few hours of contractions yesterday until I started to bleed and rushed into hospital but it was just the bloody show apparently!

Then went from 6cm to 10cm and pushing within an hour which was shocking as I had just requested an epidural, anyway after almost two hours of pushing my baby girl was born yesterday at 4.30pm weighing 6 and half pound I believe. Unfortunately she is in special care as she needed oxygen and I feel a little lost on ward without her.

Hoping the bonding will come as held her twice now and tried to feed but so hard with so many wires.

She was 36+6 so almost full term so she will be fine, will update with pics soon. Haven't had chance to catch up either but will do when I can.

Captainmcgraw · 20/09/2014 09:38

Congratulations Bump! Sorry you aren't able to be with her at the moment and hoping she comes out of special care soon. As you say, she will be just fine though - so close to full term.

I can't believe how many babies are arriving already. Just from my own experience of going 10 days overdue and lots of friends going a few days overdue I always thought that was more common but it definitely doesn't seem to be the case with this group.

ohthegoats · 20/09/2014 09:40

Oof, well that was an uncomfortable night, really bad period pain but bh calmed down so managed to sleep a bit. All 'fine' this morning, ie normal bump ache, but nothing significant. I've a feeling that this is how it's going to be until it arrives.... warm up stuff every evening/night, then normal days. Just going to do some hardcore taking it easy. Sod painting the bathroom.

cj, hope things calm down a bit lovely.

ohthegoats · 20/09/2014 09:48

Wow bump, well done and congratulations. Hope 'quick' wasn't also too scary. Enjoy the cuddles when you get them.

bumpbangbump · 20/09/2014 09:53

Congratulations bump. Glad your little lady is here. I'm sure she'll be back with you soon.

Cj, hope little ones sugars calm down for you soon.

Sorry to hear so many with niggles and pain. It will all be over soon. I have to admit to feeling all yuck too.

Happy weekend all!

sazzlehopes · 20/09/2014 09:54

Congrats bump but sorry you are not with your baby right now. Hope you get cuddles soon.

Just in hospital having a little monitor and a check over. The sharp stabby pains were still there this morning and I think they are just being careful with a week to go and my scar. Hoping to be home in a bit... Will keep you posted!

BadgerInBury · 20/09/2014 10:07

Congratulations bump! Great to hear all was ok and here's hoping you get your cuddles very soon.

mum2kiss · 20/09/2014 10:09

Babies popping out all over the place!

Someone's waters broke during the night and a mucus plug has gone over on the fb page. Plus the first of our nct group had their baby yesterday!

YellowWellies · 20/09/2014 10:13

Bump I could only hold j for 10 mins every 3 hrs as he was under the uv lights, our bond is fine and BF was cool. Just pump, looking at a pic of baby or sniffing something they have worn if that helps. It will be ok just get your milk in xxxx congratulations btw

Binky we are going to go round some art galleries in Edinburgh today to keep things moving and encourage a good position. I think it'll happen this week. I'm hoping for the 24th as that's a poignant day for my family (it'll be the 18th anniversary of my Mums death - it would be nice to have some light on what has been a sad day for so long).

Goats that sounds like latent labour to me. As annoying as it is to be neither here nor there - apparently a long latent labour can really help speed up the real deal. That's what I'm telling myself!

Missus2ndwife · 20/09/2014 10:23

Congrats Bump!! Great news Grin

I'm sure Bubba will be back in your arms in no time xx

binkybunny · 20/09/2014 10:26

Yellow get to the zoo and up that hill! I've already told DH we're going in 2 weeks time Grin

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 20/09/2014 10:30

Congratulations bump! Hope your little girl will be out of special care and back with you soon.

And congratulations to cj, too. Your little boy is gorgeous? Hope he has a good feed now and sorts his blood sugar out.

I think it was clairemiss talking about induction and vbac? I've read that the increased intensity of contractions after induction can increase the risk of scar rupture, but the rupture risk drops with each vbac, doesn't it, so if it's your second, and the consultant isn't worried, then you probably shouldn't either. I'm waiting for an appt with the ob consultant and want to ask about what will happen if I go overdue. As it will be my first vbac I might opt for repeat section if it gets that far, but here the first thing they try is some weird drink - not sure if it's herbal medicine or possibly a placebo Confused.

captain I'm also surprised by the number of babies on here arriving early, although it's probably statistically normal. Dd was born at either 39+4 by lmp dates, or 38+5 by scan dates and I had no signs of being about to go into labour at that point, so I'm preparing for it to be nearly November before this one arrives. DH has a conference in Innsbruck on the 31st, though, so he's told me I have to have had it by then (and not on a Mon, Wed or Fri because of his outpatient clinic, or before the end of next week...Hmm)

Me23 · 20/09/2014 10:35

bump congratulations on your little girl! I'm sure she will be back with you soon. Get some rest when you can.

I'm 37 weeks today but hoping baby stays put for another week and a bit as Ds started new nursery and I need to settle him in next week. Also would be better if she would wait until pay day still have a few things to buy.

ExcitedCJ · 20/09/2014 10:43

Oh dear, I'm having a horrible time. My DH is with my DD & has not been near hospital yet today.
My DS has just been diagnosed with tongue tie & one of his ears has not passed the hearing screen test. Have to come back next week to check if it's fluid that will clear.
I am distraught! Now waiting on the next check for sugars to see if that has stabilised. And then to add to things my Mum was downright rude about DS's name choice, she asked me to reconsider the name and when I said no she told me that she simply doesn't like it & can't pretend to!!
Something that is meant to be such a happy event is making me so utterly distressed.
I don't even want to see my Mum today.

bumpbangbump · 20/09/2014 10:49

Oh cj, that's rubbish of your mum. Tell her not to come if she can't be nice.

Early diagnosis of TT is really good news. Hopefully they'll snip it before you get discharged and will make bf so so much more likely to be successful.

As for the hearing, fx it's the fluid and will ebb away for you. So sorry your having a crappy start to the day. Call dh and get him to you asap! With chocolate!!!

ExcitedCJ · 20/09/2014 10:54

Oh bump thanks, you just made me cry! I hope you are right about the hearing. This baby business is so stressful!

fedupofrainydays · 20/09/2014 10:54

That's awful for your mum to criticise your name choice! It's not her name to choose or comment on and I'm sure it suits your new ds down to the ground.

Is there someone who can look after dd so your DH can come for a visit? Maybe get your mum to look after Dd and DH come to hospital?

Kirstipops · 20/09/2014 10:56

Aww CJ what a shame, just try to concentrate on you and baby just now, your mum - not to put too fine a point on it - is being a boot and she shouldn't say things like that when your emotions will be up to high doh with everything going on. When your DH is with you you'll feel much stronger about it all, your little lady will be fine and you'll be home before long settling into family life xx

fedupofrainydays · 20/09/2014 10:57

Ps. My ds had a tongue tie and after being snipped made a load of difference! It's good they picked it up in hospital as they rarely do these days.

As for the hearing, fx for fluid. My friends baby had a heart murmur that was so worrying, but just got better with time as many of these things do as they grow.

Big hugs for you and Cake

YellowWellies · 20/09/2014 10:57

Binky DH suggested it but its a bit dreich today.

He also just told me I'm looking ridiculously svelte to be about to pop. Love that myopic man!

CJ great that the TT has been spotted. Best treated now. Sorry to hear about the other stress though xxxx

bumpbangbump · 20/09/2014 11:12

Little one will be just fine cj. It really is a blessing that they pick these things up early. I really think you need your favourite comfort food right now so call dh and tell what you need. Can he bring dd with him? She might be the perfect medicine in this kind of situation. X x

MundayCakes85 · 20/09/2014 11:33

Congratulations bump hope you get to hold your DD soon.
Sorry to hear you're having troubles CJ sending hugs. Hope you get the tongue tie snipped sharpish.

Me23 · 20/09/2014 11:46

excited I used to be a hearing screener years ago! Please do not worry about the hearing screen many baby's need it repeated in one or both ears remember they are full of fluid and with a baby born by Cs even more so. I'm sure by next week it will have cleared.

Angry at your mums reaction to name, so not what you need now. People can be so tactless.

Kirstipops · 20/09/2014 12:19

CJ sorry for sounding so ranty earlier about your mum, not very productive talk from me, I'm possibly being a bit overprotective/defensive because I'm so aware of how emotionally vulnerable we are! When a friend was upset over being somewhat emotionally blackmailed by her health visitor a couple of years ago over breastfeeding problems I was seriously ready to rugby tackle the woman to the ground!

kittyvet · 20/09/2014 12:30

Congratulations bump , won't be long til you are having cuddles. Chin up cj- sure it will all be ok in end- think chocolate would be a good idea :)
