Thought we'd better start a new thread, how many more will we get through before babies arrive??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Missus2ndwife · 10/09/2014 10:57

Oh Loulou I am so sorry. I hope you will be OK in time and have the love and support from your nearest and dearest.

Yellow - glad you are being monitored. I know it's a pain but it's worth it.

And was it binky asking about a private scan?? We paid for a 3d and had to go twice! The first time he had his hand in his face and the second time he had a foot and was holding the umbilical cord in front of him. Our baby does not want to be seen. Even our lovely sonographer at my check up the other day tried to show us a sneaky peek, but no, he's still holding his umbilical cord. I think we were just unlucky - I know other peoples scans have been AMAZING

YellowWellies · 10/09/2014 10:59

Shit Loulou! Proof that we shouldn't be too keen to dismiss worries as merely being a result of hormones. If a partner is making you feel irrational and blaming it on 'your' hormones I'd be very Hmm .

Slide how are you today?

fedupofrainydays · 10/09/2014 11:15

OMG lou that's just awful. How could he do that? I hope you are ok and please stay here of we can be of support through the last bits of your pregnancy, birth and early days.

fatpony yes they aren't far my parents - about an hour away. So going to go tomorrow probably

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 10/09/2014 11:17

Just marking my place , haven't read the new thread yet!

Kirstipops · 10/09/2014 11:18

Loulou what an unbelievable arsehole, doing that to you :( As others have said, please dip in here if you ever need to vent about anything, even in the small hours we're here xx

Slide I hope you are feeling OK after your night in hospital.

I'm off out to the supermercado to buy some bits and bobs for my batch cooking and the last of the stuff to finish up my hospital bag, eek! After a teeny near-comical moment last night where I thought things were kicking off (sudden back pain during Braxton Hicks - hmmm maybe more to do with standing for 3 hours cooking, Kirstipops!) it's given me a nudge to get sorted! I'm going to Asda - any suggestions for maternity pads? (make/how many to pack in hospital bag etc - I assume you get them amongst the baby stuff as I've never spotted them in the normal "female hygiene" aisles!

FatFlashingLazer · 10/09/2014 11:21

Oh no loulou...what a complete shit bag! Terrible thing for a guy to do at any point, but with a pregnant wife...ridiculous!!

Thank you all for advice on monitors. I'll take a look at angelcare one and also at video monitors. Although maybe I don't need to panic about getting it before the baby arrives as they will be sleeping in with us for a while.

Since hitting 33 weeks I feel so much more pregnant. Baby seems to be trying to escape through my stomach and it feels like it's clawing at my cervix. Most uncomfortable but the movement is definitely reassuring. I also am so sick of feeling like I need to pee all the time and the back ache is getting worse!! Last 5 days I've had lots of period pain type cramps too. Moan moan moan is all I seem to do...poor DH is being very good but I feel like a lazy blob and it's getting me down a bit now. Really fancy going for a long dog walk but there's just no chance!

fedup I hope the builders crack on for you. I can't imagine how frustrating that must be.

Hope everyone who was up in the night gets a chance to rest at some point today.

STIGZ · 10/09/2014 11:26

kirstie i just bought super super plus version with wings, the thicker the better and deffo with wings for extra protection Blush

ohthegoats · 10/09/2014 11:30

I've just keeled over at the swimming pool in front of a class of 30 kids. So bloody hot in there, didn't have time to get out before my knees went. Oh god, they've just finished, now got to go fight with them in changing room. Blee...

mrsb87 · 10/09/2014 11:35

kirsti I got mine from Tesco, they're in the baby Isle and we're pretty cheap for a packet. You could get the thick ones or the thin ones. I opted for the thick ones purely because I thought any extra padding us going to be appreciated!
I'm still in my jamas, lazy arse. I want to sew some liners for the drawers in have In the nursery. They're quite old and don't fancy putting baby clothes in there til there's something else in there to protect them.

mrsb87 · 10/09/2014 11:36

Sounds like a sign to me goats, I think you need to rest up!

STIGZ · 10/09/2014 11:48

Omg goats .,, watch what your doing!! .,. You dont want your class witnessing the real life discovery channel with you as the star !!

binkybunny · 10/09/2014 11:53

I was meant to be at aqua natal at 9am, but managed to sleep through 2 alarms again Shock Goats think it's time to listen to your body and take it easier, however frustrating it is. I hate it but just don't have an option. Every time I push my body too much it lets me know!

binkybunny · 10/09/2014 11:56

kirsti I got 2 tescos and 1 boots nice and thick ones and two packs of thinner ones for later on. my friend also gave me a jumbo pack of tena lafies, not sure if she meant them for bleeding or incontinence though!

FlipFantasia · 10/09/2014 12:00

Lou how awful Hmm. Take care of yourself and come on here whenever you need support xx

Shirehobbit · 10/09/2014 12:00

Thick pads were good for extra cushioning around bruising and stitches. I also poured witch hazel on them for a bit of extra relief.

ExcitedCJ · 10/09/2014 12:01

Loulou bloody w**nker (sorry). I hope you are OK & as others have said have lots of RL support to help you through this awful time. Xx

Missus I have a shop near me that sells the Snuza clips, went to have a look after reading all the Amazon reviews. I have kept receipt & they have assured me if there are any probs they will refund.
Oh golly girls.. Looks like I will be having my baby next week! Just been for growth scan & head measuring in line with dates but tummy nearly 3 weeks ahead, so they don't want to leave me longer.
Have to go on Steroids. Will update more later. Totally freaking out! Sad

SlideIn · 10/09/2014 12:02

Hello, thanks for msgs & support all - stupid phone wouldn't connect to hospital wifi & no 3G. Still here on ward, rough night's sleep as two ladies in labour & regular obs. BP only borderline now, but still lots of protein. Had renal scan earlier & no problems detected there so they do think pre-eclampsia indicated, though mild at this point. After next round of obs they will come up with a plan... Quaking slightly as was really hoping not to be induced - heard horror stories re: pain involved. Baby twerking away quite happily so that's good.

Loulou that's beyond shit. So sorry to hear it. Hope you're getting plenty of support IRL. X

YellowWellies · 10/09/2014 12:11

Slide in the 2 ladies on my last thread who were induced had amazing births with no other intervention (I think one had an epidural from 6-10cm? but the other used G&A and they both pushed baby out naturally) so you could still have a great birth even if induced. I'm telling myself this as induction is pretty likely for me too.

CJ wah! But so exciting. How far along will you be? Am very jealous.

ExcitedCJ · 10/09/2014 12:20

Oh Yellow I'm sitting by myself crying at the Endrocrine unit in the hospital. I'm really scared. I will be 36 + ? Worried about baby's health & how lungs will cope.

binkybunny · 10/09/2014 12:22

Oh excited hope you are ok, do you have anyone with you? I have no medical knowledge, but surely that close to full term your baby will be ok?

ldt87 · 10/09/2014 12:36

excited as hard as it must be please try not to worry. At 37 weeks your baby is classed as term and the docs would not have him or her out early if they thought it was too early. Thinking of you as it must be a shock, but I'm sure you'll both be fine xx

mrsb87 · 10/09/2014 12:38

excited at least you are both being well looked after. I don't known for sure but at 37wks baby will be full term anyway so I'm sure a couple of days won't make that much difference?

YellowWellies · 10/09/2014 12:39

CJ my DS arrived at 36 weeks on the nose - they'll give you steroids to fully mature the lungs if they are at all worried. Everything else is finished. They really wouldn't deliver early if the risk to baby was higher than the risk to you of not doing so. Baby will honestly be fine xxxxx

YellowWellies · 10/09/2014 12:42

J's only problem was jaundice from bashing his head on my cervix due to being malpositioned - he had no problems relating to his 'prematurity'. He really didn't feel prem as a healthy 6 lber. Indeed a few days dating error either side and baby would be counted as term. It will all be fine. And you'll soon be sleeping on your tummy. Smile

binkybunny · 10/09/2014 13:00

BTW mrsb I'm still in my nightdress if it makes you feel better. Have been painting mushrooms and bunnies for the wall hanging thing but haven't bothered getting dressed yet Blush.
