When pg with ds2 i ended up buying the most unflattering pair of maternity jeans and stone trousers from Mothercare, they were horrible. I ended up buying normal clothes but in bigger sizes. My local new look is only a small one and doesnt stock maternity clothes so it looks like a trip into town soon for me.

Before ds2's party yesterday my MIL and SIL asked me if i wanted to join the local slimming club with them, they want a 3rd person to go with. I know i look bigger than normal but what a cheek its not as though they were joking either as they dont know im pg yet.

aprilmeadow · 25/09/2006 19:29

How cheeky!!

pebblemum · 25/09/2006 19:51

I suppose they thought they were doing me a favour. I cant wait to see their faces when i tell them that the reason im getting bigger is im PG that should shut them up

LargeG&T-meant to say earlier that i hope everythings ok with ds3. My ds1 was born with a heart murmur and after lots of tests i was told it was 'innocent' and then when he was 2 they said it had gone. In Juy he had a seizure at school and when checked out at the hospital it was discovered the heart murmu was still there . I was told it was still innocent and wasnt the cause of the seizure (still dont know what caused it)but i was v.annoyed that for the last 7yrs i had believed it had gone but it had been there all the time. At least now i have a reason for the way he sweats, apparantly that can be a sympton of having a heart murmur. Somethimes when hes playing football he looks as though hes had a bucket of water chucked over him, (he doesnt smell though lol)

InTheseShoes · 25/09/2006 21:46

Hi, well been to the GP today, bit of an anticlimax as won't see anyone until 18 weeks when I have a scan, see a midwife etc - seems a long time to me! Had a 12 week and a 20 week scan last time, but was at a different hospital then.

Symptoms still the same although I feel a bit heartburny tonight, I think I am attributing normal things to being pg!

Cacaboo, I hope that you are okay - fingers crossed for you

MKG · 25/09/2006 22:50

You know what I hate. I hate people who think that because you're pregnant you have all of a sudden become disabled. Talked to a sil today. She asked how I was doing and I told her that I was tired all the time, but doing well. She told me to stay in bed and sleep all day (like Ds is gonna let that happen). Then I told her that when I work out (1 1/2 hours a day for me) I feel better and I don't get the nausea. She freaked out and told me that pregnant women shouldn't exercise (My inlaws are Mexican and they also believe that pregnant women shouldn't go up stairs because the baby could fall out--send them to the looney bin). I was like "I'm pregnant not dead". I'm not going to stop my life just because I'm creating a new one. Besides with ds I gained like 60 lbs and I literally just lost it all the week before find out about this one. I can't and will not gain 60 lbs again 30-40 lbs I can live with. I'll slow down when my belly is too big to move around.

pebblemum · 25/09/2006 22:55

When i was pg with ds1 my supervisor at work would shout at me if i so much as picked up a small box even if it was just full of something light like pens. I ended up shouting at her one day but it worked, she eased off a bit but by then it was almost time for me to leave.

MKG · 25/09/2006 22:57

Second thought.

My other sil (from Brazil, I know my family is like the United Nations) is more excited about my pregnancy than I am. She is so excited that my belly is gonna get big, She is excited about maternity clothes. Personally, I hate being pregnant . . . I hate maternity clothes. I find nothing fun about it. Strangely enough, I like labor the most. I like knowing that I'm gonna get a baby soon. Now I'm just frustrated. I don't want to wait. Am I the only one that hates being pregnant, but loves having babies?

pebblemum · 26/09/2006 09:28

I dont mind being pregnant as long as i have nice clothes to wear. I hate being big and having to go for comfort more than style. I also hate the fact that some maternity clothes cost 3x as much as a similar item in 'normal' sizes.
I also find the worst part of putting on weight is at the beginning, you dont always look pregnant, just fat. Once i get past that stage though i thoroughly enjoy it all, well unless i need blood tests every time i see the midwife (i did with ds1 and i HATE needles)

cacaboo · 26/09/2006 09:29

Hi everyone - thank you for all your good wishes So far so good, no more bleeding since Sun eve, and I've calmed down a bit now. I've since read that it's actually quite common as the placenta is forming, perhaps as much as 1 in 3 pgs. Seems quite high to me!

Obviously talked to DH about it, and whereas I didn't let myself hope it was ok, he couldn't let himself think it could be the start of a m/c. I wonder if all the TTC and pg stuff might be a bigger rollercoaster for him than for me.

Had fab day with DS. He was really good letting the dentist check his teeth. She was very surprised - she remembered us from my checkup 1 yr ago, when he had a big tantrum, then after that walked into the door handle which cued more tears

Will have to go and pop my head into New Look in town soon - I had no idea they did maternity stuff, and if they are a bit cheaper that would be good. I hated paying for new Next stuff last time - it seems so expensive for just a few months, though I suppose it was useful for a frightening long time after the birth..

Anyway I had better give the appearance of doing some work now, hope everyone is doing well.

pebblemum · 26/09/2006 09:47

Glad the bleeding has stopped cacaboo

Oh well, so much for us not telling anyone yet, i have just had a phone call from MIL congratulating me. I dont mind that much but i havent even told my parents yet. I thought we were going to wait a while but obviously not. At least it shows dh has got used to the idea of another baby, he seemed to be in shock since finding out.

Ds2 seems intent on getting all his toys out this morning. First it was his 3 Thomas train sets, he wanted me to join them all up, then he got bored watching me so he got all his emergency vehicles out and now he has decided he wants to play a game. I think he has too many toys to choose from

SKYTVADICT · 26/09/2006 09:47

Thats good news cacaboo.

I went out on sat night with trousers that wouldn't do up under a long top I felt about 6 months pregnant not 8 weeks!

I won't be buying anything until after the scan -jeans still fit as they were a bit big before - already have some stetchy skirts for work so should be able to pull it off.

I had convinced myself in the night that I was having a mc coz I hadn't felt sick yesterday and my boobs weren't hurting so much and didn't feel like water melons - but sicky feeling back today - keep prodding boobs and they are a bit sore!

Tired today coz DD2 (6) decided to have bad dreams in the night and when she woke me (4 times!) I couldn't get back to sleep.

aimeeloo · 26/09/2006 10:36

hi , This is my third pregnancy and like some of you although i am only 6 weeks pregnant i feel HUGE! I thought this was due to the fact that i normally "suck my tummy in" as second nature and now i can get away with it because im pregnant im just letting it all hang out!!
Its nice to know that it may not be my imagination that im getting a mini bump already! As i cant possibly put on weight , really dont feel like eating , on the upside though , no sickness as yet (touch wood ).

JonahB · 26/09/2006 11:14

MKG - I'm not a natural at the pgy thing either. I'm quite small (5') and fairly slim, however, no one told me that the bump will be the same size whether you are a dwarf like me, or Gisele-height. I really struggled walking last time from about 16 weeks and got huge pains in my hips, as an active person I hated that. Understandable, seeing as the bump was 1/4 of my std weight, however, not fun and i'm not looking forward to that at all.
On the upside, I ate chocolate cake every single day pre and post birth and still lost the weight quite quickly .

JonahB · 26/09/2006 11:15

Forgot to say, you enjoyed labour!!!!????!!!!Which bit exactly?

charleymouse · 26/09/2006 11:49

Hi
Can I join in, got a BFP on Saturday, waiting for the results to be confirmed by my GP this afternoon. I think this puts me 31/5/07 so borderline May/June 07.

Thanks for the tip re New Look, I will have a look as already feeling a bit bloated although can't see how yet.

This will be my second as I already have DD1 who is 22 months this week. I am hoping for my second home birth and have texted my previous midwife (who was brill) she is back off leave today so hopefully will speak to her sometime soon.

I am so excited, is it usual to be so excited with a second? I think I am also more nervious this time as I know what you can lose and it is so so precious.

cacaboo · 26/09/2006 12:05

Welcome charleymouse and congratulations!

This is my 2nd too, and I am definitely far more excited, and nervous, about it. I've no idea if that is usual or not though! I've heard people say they spend no time thinking about their 2nd pregnancy as all their attention is on the 1st child, but I don't feel like that at the moment.

largeginandtonic · 26/09/2006 12:07

Cacaboo am so pleased for you

Pebble thanks for the murmur advice, just as you said the doc said it was an innocent murmur. He said it may disappear by the time he reaches puberty. Nothing to worry about, am so relieved.

I sound like most people here in that my jeans are fine in the morning but by the evening its just a joke!

Is anyone having bouts of insomnia? I go to sleep so tired and bang im awake about 3 in the morning. It lasts for a couple of hours sometimes then i go back to sleep for an hour or so. Its so frustrating

Hope you are all well

largeginandtonic · 26/09/2006 12:13

In the time it took me write that last message, wipe a bottom, change a nappy and make ds lunch someone else joined us!
Congrats Charleymouse! Im on my 6th baby and am so excited this time round still! You know whats coming, a gorgeous baby and it just makes me inanely!
I kind of enjoyed labour too, its so endorphin buzzy. I know it hurts like hell but its not for long, am having positive day can you tell

NattyandThomasandBump · 26/09/2006 12:15

hi guys im due 1st of june, but by my calculations (knowing when i oved) im due 29th may so will float to and from may and june till dating scan!

mummymelling.. were u on positive threads? i know u from somewhere!

SKYTVADICT · 26/09/2006 12:16

Welcome Charleymouse

LG&T - insomnia is a nightmare - DD2 woke me up with a bad dream last night and I couldn't get back to sleep for 2 hours - then half hour after that she got up again! I made DP get up to her that time but I was still awake!

largeginandtonic · 26/09/2006 12:19

Jonahb im not sure i can be your friend now Choc cake every day and no baby weight, hmmmmn.
When im preg i usually start at about 9 and half stone, im 5'3 and 3 quarters ( v important that 3/4) and end up at 13 and a half stone!!! We will see this time, as its my first baby with DH it may be tiny, pls, pls, pls. Last DS was 9lb, i thought he would come out looking like a foam bananna i ate so many. I think it would have been easier to roll me like a barrel during the last 10 weeks.

largeginandtonic · 26/09/2006 12:23

Oh mi goodness, natty welcome! We would love to have you here, think we may have biggest thread ever! Congratulations!

NattyandThomasandBump · 26/09/2006 12:23

thank you. anyone else due around the same time?
oh so excited!

SKYTVADICT · 26/09/2006 12:35

Welcome Natty

I think I've worked out why the thread is so big.

In our case anyway we are having a holiday baby, probably conceived in Majorca. To be called Alcudia perhaps?

Anyone else on holiday in August?

pebblemum · 26/09/2006 12:49

I wasnt on holiday in August but we had lots of weddings/parties to go to which more often than not included staying in a hotel so maybe the romance got to us.

I told my mum earlier and her reaction was 'Oh no' bloody cheek. You would have thought i was still young not 28. She did get a bit more excited though when she realised i was happy about it. We only live in a 2bed flat so i think she was thinking more practically ie lack of space than of actually having her 6th grandchild. She was at the birth of both ds's, she even cut ds2's cord as dh was a bit squeamish about it, so dont know whether to have her this time as well. It did help having her there she seemed to know when i needed a back rub or just left alone but maybe i should just share this experience with dh, not sure yet
