Congratulations to the princess! Hope she's not feeling too ill.

Squatting my DS3 will be nearly 2.5 years so I'm hoping I can get away without a double. DS1 and DS2 were 3.5 years apart so a buggy board was fine. I'm much more into babywearing now so I'll probably either wear both baby and toddler or wear one and have the other in the pushchair. I have a woven wrap on preorder for the new baby and DS3 will go in his full buckle carrier.

I'm thinking I really need to sort the bedrooms out and start looking at sleeping arrangements. We have four bedrooms, currently occupied (in size order) by dh and myself in room 1, dm and dsf in room 2, Ds1 and ds2 in room 3 and dd1 and dd2 in room 4. Mum and her dh will stay in room 2. We are moving into room 3, and whichever sex the baby is will go in room 2. They all need decorating, as does the kitchen, and I need todo some major decluttering. We also have a nice large walk in closet (there have been jokes about putting the baby in there!) which needs a good sort out.

Just looking at everything that needs doing is making me feel tired!!! On the plus side the morning sickness is starting to subside and I have a scan in the morning.

minipie · 08/09/2014 14:27

Ok own up if you are princess Kate (I'm not so it must be one of you lot Grin))

Oh god the pre baby to do list is daunting! Here's mine:

  • sort out 3rd bedroom ready for DD to move into so DC2 can have DD's current room (DD's current room is next to us) - needs new carpet and a curtain.
  • get hold of another cot from somewhere. Not putting crap sleeper DD in a bed till I absolutely have to!
  • get a double buggy. DD will be 2 and 5 months but she's not a great walker and she's also a bolter so I think a double is needed. 2nd hand I hope.
  • get hold of various bits of newborn kit - I borrowed most things from a friend last time but she's pregnant too so will be using it this time, dammit. Need a moses basket or something else for newborn to sleep in, a bath support, not sure what else but there will be others!

Squatting I have a Caboo. It's nice and soft for a newborn but... it is a bit of a faff to get on (easier than a full on wrap but a lot faffier than a buckle) and it only works up to about 10/11 lb I reckon.. after that it's a bit saggy. Also DD didn't like having her head enclosed in it. And I'm short and there was so much extra fabric! So I didn't use it much in the end. Ideally I'd like a Beco Gemini but not sure if I can justify the cost.

Hope you're having a better day littleluna89!

How are you today Rustyzilla?

Had my booking appointment today, flew through it as she arrived late. She's put me down for midwife birthing unit not delivery suite Grin but they don't so bloods now so I have to drive to one of the hospitals and sit and wait as my gp won't do them either :( have to book my 16wk appt once I get a due date from my scan.

I had a kari me sling and loved it with ds2, but it was borrowed so need to buy one!

Ds2 is going in bunks with ds1 so we need a new bed for them and to get rid of the old one. Will wait to see sex of the baby before we get rid of ds2's toddler bed.

Aaaaand I've just noticed pink spotting. Absolutely petrified it's going to get heavier. Phoned the maternity support line; very nice midwife told me to go to A&E if it gets red/fresh, if it looks like clots and if I get period-like pain. Doesn't help that my constipation is playing up a bit so there's a bit of pain/discomfort there anyway.

The midwife said that this can happen around the time your period was due anyway, which it roughly is, and that it's common and that the baby will be fine - but I'm still absolutely petrified. I've just been out in the garden doing some hoeing and weeding and I just know that I'll blame that if anything happens.

minipie · 08/09/2014 17:30

Aw Annia sorry to hear that. Whatever it is (and it's most likely nothing) it won't be due to the hoeing and weeding. Do you have an EPU near you that will do walk in scans? Our local hospital will do them if you have bleeding of any sort.

lila35 · 08/09/2014 17:36

Try not to worry Annia, Its hard not to worry though and even though your sensible head tells you that its the irrational tired one that generally wins the day for me.

I'm very pleased for Kate and Wills, hoping she's an April girl too!!

I had my booking in with the mw on friday and today got my scan app through, next friday, I'll be exactly 12 weeks!! Its not that long to wait now, and hopefully I will get some reassurance that its little heart is still going, as I am so worried most of the time.

Lauren82000 · 08/09/2014 18:03

And I've been told to sit tight and wait out my spotting.Confused supposed to settle down by 8 weeks but might spot all the way through. Went to the docs and they rang the EPU, I had already told her about the abrupt woman who scanned me and when she got off the phone said I think I got the woman who scanned you. Had a cry anyway and the doctor was just I'm sorry there is nothing I can do, your probably going to have an eventful pregnancy. Least she reassured me about pain levels the twinges I'm getting doesn't count as anything. (And my back ache has traveled further up so that will be because of the horrendous chair I have to sit in think its circa 1999) I am definitely going to stop picking up DD completely now, she is really heavy well over 2st and luckily I'm sat on my bum most of the day at work, so that counts as taking it easy right. DH was well worried when I got in as he knew id been crying but his mum was there so had to wait for his update.

AnniaFausta · 08/09/2014 18:04

Thanks, mini and Lila. It seems to have stopped now, or at least what's left is browner, so I guess all I can do is keep an eye on it. There is an EPU at the hospital I'm booked into, which the midwife on the phone said to go to if there is fresher blood and clots, so I guess all I can do is keep an eye on things and hope that it's just (as my mother would old-fashioned-ly call it) a little show and nothing more.

As if doing this for the first time weren't tough enough already!

Gibbon85 · 08/09/2014 18:25

Hi all- haven't posted for a while, been catching up. Had some brown spotting last week which completely freaked me out- didn't really sleep all week which with the fatigue I had anyway made me utterly exhausted! Had a scan at the epau on Thursday tho and saw the heartbeat :) very relieved but then had pink spotting on the weekend and started crying at my booking appt today when the midwife asked me about it. She says it's probably fine- apparently there's loads of extra blood flowing to the cervix at the mo and the tiny vessels around there can burst after sex (fat chance of that ATM!) or sometimes for no reason at all, which reassured me a lot. But she's sending me for another scan on Thursday just to make sure- hopefully I'll be able to relax after that. Just feel exactly like I've got a period at the mo- bit of cramping, and (tmi alert!) feeling all loose down below. Spotting comes and goes tho.

lauren and annia hope you're ok- it's so hard to relax but do try. I'm slowly convincing myself to believe the medics when they say it's probably all ok!

When I was freaking out tho I told my mum and was really glad- so good to have another person, someone who's actually had babies, to talk to about it. Also now told in laws, they were all thrilled and it's nice to have some people in on our secret. Won't be telling anyone else til the 12 week scan tho!

AnniaFausta · 08/09/2014 20:05

Gibbon, that's really helpful information about the vessels in the cervix - that would explain what happened to me this afternoon nicely. I shall try and remind myself that that's probably what's happened and hold onto the comforting thought!

Lauren82000 · 08/09/2014 20:11

I hate all this hanging around and waiting bring on the second trimester where they whip the Doppler out when you have a oh god is everything alright moment. I wanted at least 3 children but as long as this one sticks think I might cut myself off at 2 I can't handle the uncertainty of the first trimester.

I can't believe how long the first few weeks feel! I'm 6+6 and feel like I've been pregnant for months.

Got info through in the post for my booking appointment today which was a bit confusing as I had a letter a couple of weeks ago booking me in for a midwife appointment and first scan which I assumed was the booking appointment, but it didn't come with all the extra info today's one had. Maybe that one is just for blood test for Downs screening? Clueless. Will ask at my (new) booking appointment in two weeks.

Lauren82000 · 08/09/2014 20:52

Oo how exciting banana. Can I ask when you were referred to the mw? I know the doctor did it on Friday so I'm waiting for mine to turn up. Since the scan dated me backwards I'm 6+6 too. Although I sort of still think of myself as 7+3 just because I want it to go faster! Wink

Rustyzilla · 08/09/2014 21:04

lauren annia and gibbon sorry to hear you are all experiencing spotting too, I really think in comparison this far I have got off lightly as mine seems to have stopped now. Although it was on and off all weekend. cinnamon thank you for thinking of me Thanks.

I got the same advice as all of you when I finally spoke to midwife today, and that was not to worry unless it is red and like a period. FX the spotting does one for all of us quickly!

Still waiting on booking in appointment - apparently delay could be due to 'summer holidays' Hmm. Scan is 2 weeks on Fri though Grin

BananaToast · 08/09/2014 21:13

Lauren I was referred a couple of weeks ago as I went to the doctors about bleeding when I first found out. So it's taken about 3 weeks to come through, but I know it varies a lot by area.

Rusty my booking appointment is also two weeks Friday! Something new to count down to Grin

AnniaFausta glad to hear that the spotting has stopped for you.

Glad to hear that some of you are able to give reassurance to others. It's so hard not to worry!

The midwife asked if I was still feeling yucky as I offered her a drink and she said tea or coffee whatever you're having and I said I can't drink either, when I said yes she said that's good!

Can't wait for this next 3 weeks to disappear!

catsofa · 08/09/2014 21:48

I'm 6 + 5, first appointment tomorrow, yes it does seem like forever! I'm pretty lonely too since DP lives in a different city and I'm not sure how to go out with friends and not drink - they will all guess immediately! So I've just been on my own a lot.

Bit worried about having anyone here too in case they spot something. I'm reading Dr Spock, there are pregnancy yoga tabs open in my browser, my google history is all "can I do x when pregnant?", there are packs of pregnancy vitamins lying around helpfully plastered with the word pregnancy. I'm going to have to find someone to confide in!
