oops that should've said eeeeek!

Cisforcat · 04/09/2014 17:03

I'm a bit worried now. I borrowed a doplar from a friend for my DD and used it about 3 days ago (am 10+1 now) and couldn't find anything. I didn't think anything of it at the time , but now a couple of u have and I'm as far on as I am, should I be worried??!!!!

Cisforcat don't worry, that's why it's not recommended to buy a Doppler! I think it's supposed to be quite difficult to find before 16 weeks that's why the midwives don't usually try until then?

I need a massive vent! DP is driving me mad. He's off work today and I've been feeling dreadful, I'm sick whenever I move at the moment. He told me to have a rest, so I've come for a lie down on the sofa while he and DD do some baking. Only apparently he is completely incapable of doing this without asking me a question every 2 minutes! When I didn't answer one of his questions straight away he made some sort of sarcastic comment about me ignoring him and now we've had quite a big argument! In front of DD as well which we've never done before. I slammed a door and rushed upstairs then had to be sick because I'd moved so suddenly. And now I'm seething and feeling guilty for shouting at DP in front of DD. Argh!!

cisforcat you'll only be able to hear something if its a doppler good enough for you to be able to hear at 10 weeks (most aren't), plus you've tracked down where your baby is which can take a lot of patience. Honestly don't use it if it will worry you though, I think as with most things you need to decide what's best for you. I had had a scan at 8 weeks so knew there was a hb already, so just got the doppler to help reassure me it was still there in the run up to the 12 week scan.

Inshock73 42 is cool - I have several friends who had a baby in their early 40s. And Stunt I said 'older'.... we're not old! Its only the Daily Mail who thinks if you're past 35 your ovaries are like shrivelled old grapes.

Wineandchoccy · 04/09/2014 17:38

I've had my booking in appointment and I have my date for my scan which is the 3rd October which seems forever away!

The midwife struggled to take my blood and I felt really woozy afterwards just had an hour in bed and a slice of toast so feel much better now.

We go on holiday tomorrow and I still need to pack, make a chilli to take with us and clean the house because my Mum and Dad are going to feed our cat while we are away, aggghhhh there's not enough hours in the day. DH is washing and hoovering my car so he is in the good books.

Lauren82000 · 04/09/2014 18:13

Wineandchoccy you've obviously got your DH well trained. I got yelled at because I hadn't washed my DHs cycling top since he wore it last week. I'm fed up of telling him if he wants something washing to do it his self. He wouldn't even have a short sleeve top if I hadn't bought him one makes me so angry he knows I'm not reliable to be doing washing. He stormed off in a huff on his bike so at least I don't have to look at his moody face for a while. Just went online and bought him another one because he seems incapable of buying his own. Grr makes me so mad he can be so selfish. Even DD agreed daddy was moody. I swear he is having all the mood swings for both of us.

Sorry went off in a bit of a rant there...Blush

ChickenMe · 04/09/2014 18:18

Congrats Inshock73. I'm 38 but I think having babies in your 40s is pretty normal and has always happened in the past, despite what the Daily Mail says.
Re:sickness so far the only things I have found which help are peppermint tea, coke, ice lollies. I seem to have nausea and acid reflux all day until about 10pm Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 04/09/2014 18:24

Sorry to hear your dh's are not being very supportive Carebearwithfangs and Lauren82000!!

I am fed up with eating! All I can stomach is white carbs, mostly bread and crisps and I'm sick of it. Everything I eat leaves a horrible taste in my mouth but if I don't eat I vomit. Starting to think I need to cook more during the day, perhaps potatoes or pasta but when I'm hungry I need to eat straight away or feel terrible :(

Oh dear cinnamon. I have to say I thought I had a bit of morning sickness but I really don't compared to you guys, just feel a bit green every now and then.

DH has been quite supportive most of the time he asks how my bits are getting on (since I had the spotting) and gives me plenty of hugs. He just forgets about being understanding that I'm knackered. He does have a terrible memory though always has. Plus he is hardly ever ill so thinks I'm a hypercondriac whenever I complain about something hurting or feeling sick. Hmm

HippoPottyMouth · 04/09/2014 19:02

Hello inshock! I'm pleased there are a few of us older more experienced ones here now. I'll be 39 too.

HippoPottyMouth · 04/09/2014 19:03

Lol at doing a pregnancy test for something to do Grin
I can totally see the attraction though.

Lauren82000 · 04/09/2014 19:06

I stopped myself doing them when I was almost convincing myself they weren't as dark as the previous one. Even if every one did the same as yours and the test line came up before the dye hit the control line.

CareBearWithFangs · 04/09/2014 19:46

ChickenMe ice lolly's really do help! How have I got to my 3rd pregnancy and only just realised this?

Lindalove · 04/09/2014 19:57

hippopottymouth experienced in what? :) this is my first baby. I'm normally pretty experienced in wine drinking & shopping. I've never changed a nappy in my life..!!

Lauren82000 · 04/09/2014 20:01

Well that was an experience DD didn't make it to the loo to be sick and was sick on the stairs. Having to scrub at chunky sick while heaving yourself was not good. Confused

dancestomyowntune · 04/09/2014 20:12

Evening all! Well, I had my booking in appointment today and EVERYTHING has changed since I had my last baby five years ago. We used to have a team of six-eight midwives, now there are only two! They no longer hold clinics at the doctors but in a God awful children's centre. She filled my notes in, has made a referral to a specialist, dedicated psychiatric nurse because I have had PND in the past. She did say that this is so that if I get depressed again I can access the nurse quickly and easily and does not mean I will be 'labelled' or have to see them at all.

She took my blood pressure, 136/98 today. Told me that as I am on medication and will be seeing a consultant she isn't too worried but she does not expect me to go to full term. She said the consultant will try and get me to 38 weeks, but looking at my history the chances are quite high that baby will be delivered earlier than that as my blood pressure tends to rocket after 35 weeks. She also agreed that baby will need to be closely monitored with regards to growth. None of my babies have been big, and because my blood pressure refuses to come down to a 'normal' level the chances are this baby will have a low birth weight.

I'm thinking this all means the chances are baby will be born in March, not April, but as my edd is April I hope you don't mind me sticking around. Feels more real now, and with another scan booked on Tuesday, and next contact with the midwife in three weeks, I really feel like I am pregnant now. She also said the heartburn I am really suffering with is to do with my blood pressure. Told me to ring the doctor and ask for script for something.

LadyNovember · 04/09/2014 20:26

Speaking of heartburn, I'm a long term sufferer..I have a hiatus hernia and also produce far too much acid. I normally take lansoprazole and it works perfect, but I've had to change since I became pregnant as it's not safe. Doc put me on ranitidine which is absolutely pants, works for a few hours at most. Had a phone consult with him today to request omeprazole (safe in pregnancy) and he basically said no..told me to try gaviscon. He said omeprazole isn't safe, even though my boss (pharmacist) and I checked before I called. He even said I'd be better not taking ranitidine either. I literally have heartburn from morning til night if I don't have any treatment. Just bought some tums for breakthrough. Stupid doctor. Angry sorry for the rant ha. X

Cisforcat · 04/09/2014 20:55

I mentioned it before but get some love heart sweets for heart burn. They work really well and it's an excuse to eat them all day !!

LadyNovember · 04/09/2014 20:58

Thanks cat, I'll get some tomorrow :)

cinnamongreyhound · 04/09/2014 21:25

Poor you Lauren82000!

Great news dancetomyowntune and all the not so great news you seemed to know was coming so that's good.

Not great LadyNovember, I think in general everyone is super cautious with pregnancy and I can see why but it doesn't help when you feel crap!

Really enjoyed my jacket potato tonight :)

Ive had an utter shitter of a day. Ended up in floods of tears at one point. Im extremely stressed with work, incompetent managers blaming their mistakes on me and now finding out one has out and out lied to a senior member of staff. Ive been suffering with stress and anxiety because of work for months but now im at the end of my tether. Im making an appt with the drs to see if they will sign me off for at least a fortnight. Sad

BananaToast · 04/09/2014 22:08

Ugh everything I tried to eat tonight tasted like crap so I had grapes, crisps and a mini milk. Balanced diet!
