Hello everyone!

Try not to worry Minstrelle, I had my booking in with the mw on the friday and had a letter through for my scan on the monday, it was then the following week. I was amazed!!

So pleased everyones scans are coming up. Its great we are all getting through this first tri!!

Last week was one of my worst and then monday it was like a switch has gone and I feel so much better, not quite my usual self but so much better, the nausea has all but gone, just pops its head around the corner every now and then. I'm 12+4 today.

lila35 · 23/09/2014 19:36

Thats exactly how I feel prev!!

LadyNovember · 23/09/2014 20:42

Here's my little alien baby! Grin I think it's waving?!

OVER HERE!!! Due April 2015
sazzle82G · 23/09/2014 21:18

Ah so jealous of everyone's scan. Mine's 2 weeks tomorrow which feels ages away. 10 weeks today though which feels like a mini milestone.

catsofa · 23/09/2014 22:46

My scan is 20th October, very nearly a month away!

I am kind of having to tell a few people, partly because I'll need to be rehoused and this involves a few friends knowing asap for reasons I won't go into, partly because someone just asked me about working as usual at Glastonbury Festival next year and I needed to let them know I probably wouldn't be there with a 2 month old baby, and partly just because DP is so far away and I need some friends to coo over me a bit!

But now I'm worrying that someone might say congratulations or something on facebook and accidentally tell all of DP's friends and parents when I'm only 9 weeks Shock

8 + 6

chiliplant · 23/09/2014 23:08

Hi everyone!
I've got my scan at ten thirty tomorrow! I'm so nervous but also excited.
Just pray everything is OK as I haven't had many symptoms so far! 12 +1

cinnamongreyhound · 24/09/2014 07:01

I'm a bit like the Catsofa, I think very carefully what I write in fb in case someone says something like dancestomyowntune's aunt did. I'm sure if you told them to keep it to themselves they will!

I felt like my scan was an eternity away now it's only a week so it will come round sooner than you think.

Lovely pic LadyNovrmber :)

Hope all goes well chiliplant

Good luck today chili. Great to see so many lovely scans.

I'm a bit worried about Facebook etc when I do decide to tell people - I don't want someone to say something on there before I've told everyone I want to tell! I would rather keep it off Facebook altogether, at least until I'm much further along. It just feels like it's really private and not something that should be public knowledge!

daholster · 24/09/2014 08:19

Last time I kept it off facebook until we had had the 20 week anomaly scan. There are some people on there I wouldn't want to have to explain bad news to. But then things can go wrong until they are here in our arms... so on that basis you wouldn't tell the world until it actually arrives!!!! Hmm

Lindalove · 24/09/2014 08:28

By 20 weeks you're sticking out that much it's be hard to keep secret anyway! I'm finding it hard enough at 12 and a half weeks (haven't told all my work colleagues yet as want to tell my dad first, face to face tomorrow) so wearing a lot of baggy clothes. It's noticeable now if you bothered to look at me for a minute or so.
Had to get some more mat jeans yesterday, bought mothercare blooming marvellous ones, seem very soft. Over the bump which I think I prefer .. My Topshop under the bump ones seems to ride down despite being skintight skinnies!
Am trying to get an Isabelle Oliver wrap dress second hand on eBay as don't fancy forking out £90 for new.

Nunkie · 24/09/2014 09:13

chiliplant mine is an hour after yours - good luck to us both :0D
Good results from Harmony test yesterday, so just hoping everything looks boringly vanilla on this scan - then maybe I can graduate from the Worry Sofa onto Lindalove's Settee of Pragmatic Caution (along with the very occasional small glass of wine that brings ;0)

peppercorn re: overheating... I also had concerns over this after inadvertently sitting in a swelteringly hot room watching an awful play for two hours before I found out I was preggers. So I queried the midwife, and the news is good. It seems you only have to worry if you're getting symptoms of heat exhaustion yourself. Reading around, it seems that your body is incredibly good at regulating its core temperature as long as you can sweat (that seems to be why preggers ladies are advised to use jacuzzis with extreme caution)

Keep the scan pics coming, y'all - they're great!
And to all still feeling barfy - I know it doesn't seem like it now, there is light at the end of the tunnel - honestly! Sending you virtual buckets, which might be more welcome than virtual hugs, at a time like this! ;0)

Hang in there sazzle and catsofa - you'll be surprised how quickly it rolls around. Plus there is also the option of a private scan in the meantime if you can fork out for it, or know someone who can. It'll reassure you for all of.. oh, about two days! :0D

LadyNovember · 24/09/2014 09:18

Does anyone else on this thread have a tilted/retroverted uterus? I'm just wondering if that's the reason I've felt so much stretching/cramping? It's not painful or anything but im deffo aware of it. Was at its worse around 4-6 weeks and has just recently started happening again (10w). I know cramping is normal but just thought it's an interesting theory.

Siarie · 24/09/2014 09:23

kitten I've had the cyclizine pills in my cupboard since 5w as I was going on holiday and wanted something in case I got bad. Last night I finally took one but threw it up sadly. But DH has said its time I start taking them now.

I've lost so much weight and couldn't keep any of my food down yeaterday. This morning seems better so far but I was just worried about taking that pill. Can I ask when you take yours or used to take them? It just says take up to three a day.

Siarie · 24/09/2014 09:26

catsofa my scan is the same day as yours. It does feel like ages away doesn't it.

BananaToast · 24/09/2014 09:26

Great news about the Harmony results Nunkie, enjoy your scan today!

LadyNovember I do but I don't feel like I've had that much cramping so far - at least no more than I expected. However last night and this morning I've felt achy around my left ovary - not sure what's going on there. Might ask the midwife at my booking appointment on Friday. I'm not sure how much difference having a retroverted uterus will make, I assume a doppler wouldn't pick up a heartbeat as early (so I'm not going to get one and stress myself out) and I think it might be why I don't have to wee all the time yet, as it's not pressing on my bladder.

kittenmamma · 24/09/2014 12:21

Siarie, you have to leave 8 hours between each one, so you can take up to three a day but that would mean having one for over night and it tends to be better only to take them if you need them. I was advised take three a day until I can work out when I need them most. Some days I only took one, some two, some none. But they stopped working so if you do keep bringing them back up, ask for something different.

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 24/09/2014 12:26

LadyNovember is have a retroverted uterus and I had extremely bad cramping between weeks 4 - 8, so much that I had a scan at 7 weeks to check everything was ok. You could be on to something there!

I do not look pregnant at all (at 11+6) and I wondered if that was also something to do with the retroverted uterus, as the uterus has further to grow before it starts to make your stomach stick out (highly scientific there!). I have however been peeing like mad since about week 6.

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 24/09/2014 12:27

Sorry that should be I have...

cinnamongreyhound · 24/09/2014 12:57

I had cramps at similar times and as far as I know have a big standard uterus! I believe the weeing in the early stages is hormone related not pressure on pressure on the bladder.

I was just like that with ds1 Sairie but it all totally stopped at 13 weeks and it was like nothing had happened! Really hope it's overo r your soon Thanks

Misty I'm sure dtd will be fine. If I learnt anything from my first pg it's that midwives don't know everything (and the very best ones admit that freely). Like you & Monkey with my first pregnancy I didn't show at all. In fact, I was in Europe on hols when I was 25 weeks, and people still didn't know. I'm usually a size 10/12, my DD was early and quite small (6lb 5) but I guess bumps, like the mums who carry them, come in all different shapes and sizes Smile

This time around I'm already finding it hard to hide the bump and I'm only about 10 or 11 wks! Dating scan a week on Monday. I'm dreading being huge!

Nice news about positive scans and finding heart beats Grin

LadyNovember · 24/09/2014 13:43

I think I'll cry if I get to 25 weeks without a bump GrinBlush

cinnamongreyhound · 24/09/2014 13:49

I barely showed when I had my 20 weeks scan with both but I was quite overweight then. Would be nice if I have a lovely round normal shaped bump this time :)
