River you can take glycerin honey & lemon. Will coat your throat and help stop the tickle. X

I had to tell work. My job involves a fair amount of heavy lifting and ladder climbing so I told my department and the health and safety manager. I'm needing to get help from neighbouring departments a lot and people are pretty damned grumpy and unhelpful so I keep, finding I have no choice to say that I'm pregnant and from my risk assessment can't do whatever it is I'm asking them to do. I'm also not great with being a 'damsel in distress' so I find myself trying to lift things i shouldn't a lot so my manager has me on lifting watch, random people come running over demanding that I put things down, which sometimes is quite funny :p

Ahhhh insomnia is back, I've been awake since 3am and decided to get up. I'm watching the Scottish votes come in on Sky news.

We are out tonight so might have to have an afternoon nap, lucky I'm working from home today.

What a lovely scan photo River

My scan is 2 weeks today which still seems ages away.

Hidingthefear · 19/09/2014 07:31

I didn't tell anyone at work but the 3 girls in my office figured it out, i think the occasional crying and the regular running to the toilet being sick was the give away!! But they are all sworn to secrecy until after the scan.
I work with my husband (who obviously knows) and my father in law, who also knows seen as he spent the weekend helping us to DIY in the kitchen and I was throwing up all bank holiday, but he's also sworn to secrecy!

Working with a family business (his side not mine) will be tricky, I'll have to tell family that don't work there and tell them to keep quiet until i've told work and vice versa to make sure no one finds out through someone else.

Oh and my midwife who will be delivering me knows because I rang her first to say "oh my god what do I do". It's my partners Auntie who's delivered everyone in his family (except my husband himself because his mum didn't even know she was pregnant until she delivered him at 7 months!!"

Lindalove · 19/09/2014 07:46

12 weeks tomorrow for me! Scan on Monday. Then maybe I can relax a bit #scanxious

Lauren82000 · 19/09/2014 08:45

Well I went to work like a good girl this morning, still got some spotting but it's much paler than yesterday so it's that stupid cervix playing up again. I swear it wasn't like this when I had DD do they break after one baby? And where can I buy another one?

Rustyzilla · 19/09/2014 09:08

Hello all, can I squidge on the sofa of worry too? I think we'll all be here for life, can't see the worry stopping once we are all mummies!

I've had a bit more spotting again this week, very light, on and off but will be relieved to have booking in appointment on Sunday and scan next Friday!

I already told my work, just the ones who need to know. I told a work friend earlier this week too as I am showing and it was getting awkward trying to hide from her. She reckons she knew because I 'look pregnant, even in the face'. Er, thanks! So she means I look fat!

Also heard that two unknown colleagues also asked her if she knew whether I was pregnant or not. This has enraged me, people are so f'ing nosey! Angry It just makes me think I will carry on without telling anyone else at work until I pop! Grin

Rustyzilla · 19/09/2014 09:10

P.s great scan pic river!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/09/2014 09:25

I had nothing with ds1 but quite a bit with ds2 so could be that the cervix is slightly more open or just bad luck that there's blood second time. I've had none so far this time and I would have thought my cervix is even weaker this time around.

Sorry you're not sleeping well Wineandchoccy, I babysat last night so not home until after 1 and feel terrible today! Sleep makes everything more manageable.

Morning everyone! Sorry I have been so absent. We were away on holiday last week and this week I have just been feeling so ill I haven't managed to do much at all. I turned 12wks yesterday, which feels like a big milestone, and we had the scan on Tuesday and all looks good! My dates were bang on and so my EDD is still 1st April. I really thought the sickness would get better at this stage (it did last time) but this week has been the worst yet. Nausea has turned into actual vomitting and I've been struggling to eat anything at all :-( really hoping this is the last nasty bit before it all clears.... I told work after my scan. Having worried about it all the time we were on holiday, all I got was 'congratulations!' so not so bad after all! I'm soo pleased that it's Friday. The combination of work, a 16m toddler and early pregnancy is doing me in. Thank goodness for DH!

LobsterMagnet · 19/09/2014 10:41

I have a question about the blood samples that are taken during the booking appt. How are the results normally given back? If everything was fine, would they be able to tell you that over the phone, or would you still need to go in to see the doctor?

Lauren82000 · 19/09/2014 11:20

All the blood tests I've ever had come back the next day you ring the doctors and the receptionist says what ever the comment the doctor made. It's either that's all clear or make an appointment. I guess the booking bloods will be the same.

cinnamongreyhound · 19/09/2014 11:23

I will get mine at 16wk apt Lobstermagnet.

Sorry you're feeling so pants roastpots!! I've just nearly vomited in the street :(

LobsterMagnet · 19/09/2014 12:49

I'm just worrying because I've been asked to book an appointment with a doc to discuss the results and I'm a bit scared about what they've found. I'm really hoping it's just a UTI or something although when my sis was pregnant and had that, she was told it over the phone and didn't need to see a doctor. On the other hand, the receptionist didn't seem to think it was urgent to see the doc as she said there were no appts available for next week and I'd have to book something for the week after. Which works out for me since I've got a fully booked week of events next week for work so wouldn't be able to take the time off anyway. Ugh. I am definitely on the worry sofa.

Cassieyellow · 19/09/2014 13:48

Afternoon all. Not commented in ages, but happily reading. Tiredness really kicked in this week. It's really good to hear about those having scans and also those worried. I am 12 weeks tomorrow but have to wait until next Friday for the scan! Aargh feels like ages.

cowbiscuits · 19/09/2014 14:31

Hello all

I've not been keeping up with this thread much but want to stay with it!

Good luck to everyone having scans and/or worrysome times. Hope everything works out.

I'm 9 weeks today. This month is really really dragging. Last night I was looking at some photos of ds and photos of him when he was a tiny wee newborn all snuffly and delicious. It's made me all excited. It's so so long to wait! Three weeks today till my scan, it feels like a lifetime but I so want to see that picture and know it's all real.

Like with my last pregnancy I'm being one of those annoying women who is actually rather well. I'm feeling the benefit of not having caffeine or alcohol. Just a very slight bit nausea which is manageable if I stay distracted. I'm very tired but I think that's partly down to having a toddler.

The only notable thing is, I am awfully bloated and so have a sticky out belly, like an actual baby bump. Anybody got any tips for bloating? I ate a load of prunes in the hope they'd relieve the constipation. I love em, but I just filled up with gas!

BananaToast · 19/09/2014 14:52

cowbiscuits my scan is also three weeks today! Feels like a long time to wait with others on here having theirs now. I've got my booking appointment next week to look forward to though.

It feels weird to think about telling everyone after the scan, I've got used to it being our little secret and not sure I want to make it common knowledge. I'm torn between being excited to tell and wanting to keep it private for much longer, not sure what we'll end up doing.

EssenceOfGelfling · 19/09/2014 15:52

Likewise I've been lurking for a while and not getting round to posting. But [whispers] I'm feeling loads better. Scan is next friday. Can't wait to start telling people, already look about 5 months gone although its 90% bloating. I've been in maternity clothes for several weeks already, which is a real shock as with the last 2 DC I didn't show till about 18 weeks.

11+3

HippoPottyMouth · 19/09/2014 16:49

I'm glad to hear someone else is in maternity stuff! I'm 9+1 and have been wearing maternity jeans for a couple of weeks now! I was a bit fat anyway but I haven't put any extra weight on and have this massive lump! It's quite high but solid, it's as if all my insides have flung themselves out of the way straight away this time, it's my third time too, Gelfing, I wonder if that's relevant!

chiliplant · 19/09/2014 19:16

I had a very apologetic phone call off my mid wife today. She wrote it somewhere random in her diary.
Its the sort of thing I would do being so scatty at the moment so I'm not mad.
So we have rebooked for wedright before my scan. I'll be twelve + three then! Woo!xx

daholster · 19/09/2014 21:34

Lol Lauren "where can I buy a new one?" Brilliant!

10 weeks today! Whizzed over and told grandma today. 4 hours driving was worth it. She's pretty much just asleep, but I think she heard me because she started breathing fast when I told her; so I told her it was ok, and that I knew she had heard me, and her breathing settled again. I've told her it's a secret! Grin

Hopefully she will still be with us tomorrow so I can take her beloved great-granddaughter across to see her in her "I'm going to be a big sister" t-shirt so the rest of my family can find out. Fingers crossed it all works out well and people don't think it's in poor taste or something. I'm hoping it might lift people a bit... And I can't imagine waiting another 3 or 4 weeks until everything is sorted with grandma - I'd be 13-14 weeks and since it's my second I think it might have become rather obvious! And aside from all that I don't want my family to find out last, and I need to tell friends and in-laws so I might get some help with my 16 month old if I'm feeling rough while my husband is away. He goes to America on Monday.

So hopefully it's the right decision, just have to wait and see...

Lauren82000 · 19/09/2014 22:02

Glad you got to tell your grandma. My step mother in law has just been diagnosed with cancer again. She had breast cancer about 20 years ago and was all clear then she started having problems with her memory turns out she has a primary in her lung and a secondary in her brain. DH doesn't want to tell them yet about being upduffed I think they could probably use the boost but it's his dad and step mum so it's up to him really. They live really far away (other end of the country) so not like we can just nip in for a visit.

daholster · 19/09/2014 22:10

It's a very difficult call isn't it? Sorry to hear about your DH's step-mum. I guess he might feel a few more weeks to sort herself out and get some forward looking plans in place might be helpful? Then your news could be a big boost to give her some determination as she begins another long treatment journey. Well of course I have no idea what he is thinking! But as you said, he probably feels he knows them best and what best to do.

I hope everything goes well for her.
