I threw up constantly too Lauren82000 with ds1 but I was also induced with ds2 and wasn't sick at all. I did manage to drink with ds1 so had plenty to throw up each time :(

I had my booking in appointment yesterday which didn't last long. The GP took my blood pressure, asked how many pregnancies I'd had, how many children I had and what was my due date then sent me on my way. He didn't even ask for a urine sample or anything! Now I just wait for my 12-week scan appointment letter. I honestly thought there would be a bit more to it than that!

Lindalove · 16/09/2014 16:00

Stuntman that sounds weird. I had a full grilling about all my risk elements from the midwife, referral to anywhere I needed based on my answers, plus was given my big paperwork folder to take away (plus had bloods & wee samples taken). Are you sure that was actually a booking in appt? Unless they just do it all together where you are at 12 weeks.

Siarie · 16/09/2014 16:39

Has anyone lost weight? I've lost 4lbs so far.

stuntman that sounds like my appointment with my GP for referral to the midwife. I thought booking appointments were more intrusive and long.

I haven't had mine yet so I don't know for sure though.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/09/2014 16:45

Booking appointments usually are with a midwife and cover and previous pregnancies and births as you said but a million questions about history of every disease you've ever heard of and not heard of!! Also mental health questions and if dh and I were blood relatives. I had to have my bloods and urine done elsewhere though.

Don't forget about 'was this a planned pregnancy?' I wanted to tell them to sod off and mind their own business does it really matter if it's planned or not your clearly not terminating it if you are at your booking appointment. Bizarre

minipie · 16/09/2014 17:01

AnnaFaustia I reckon if someone makes it to 3 months BFing it would be nuts to give up then, that's just when the hard part is out of the way and the convenience of it really kicks in! Not to mention the savings. Although of course if someone needs to go back to work that's different.

daholster wow UC sounds horrendous, poor you! Hope it doesn't affect your pregnancy too much. And so sorry to hear about your grandma Sad

cinnamon I'm always nervous when people say 18months-3 is the best! DD is 22 months and great fun, so far every month has been better than the last with her, I can't really bear the thought of it going downhill again!

Hmm Stuntman I definitely had a urine sample taken at booking in, also a detailed medical history including family medical issues and previous pregnancy histories. Height and weight and various blood tests done (eg to look for various antibodies). Also my booking in was with a midwife. As linda says are you sure yours was a booking in appt?

minipie · 16/09/2014 17:03

Lauren I know they need to keep an eye out for people at higher risk of ante natal depression and also domestic abuse so I wonder if that question is linked ie. perhaps you are slightly more at risk of those statistically if it's unplanned...? Only medical explanation I can think of!

Lindalove · 16/09/2014 17:04

I also got asked about female genital mutilation (ie had I been mutilated) - London hospitals cater for all sorts/traumas....

littleluna89 · 16/09/2014 17:07

I also threw up during labour, much to the frustration of the midwife who thought I was overreacting about the amount of pain I was in!! I remember her telling me she could only give me 1 paracetamol but if I threw it up that was it, I wasn't getting any more, so I better not throw it up. grumpy cow...

Booking in all done and dusted. Am under consultant lead care as expected. She's also referred me for an Anaesthetic Review(?) because of complications that can potentially be caused by my Hyper-mobility Syndrome. Now I've just got to stalk my postman wait for my scan letter and once I've had the scan if its all A-OK I can start telling the world and not snapping at everyone who tries to talk to me about the pregnancy Though it was only after the appointment that I realised where I'd left the depression questions blank to discuss with her she's completely missed them (I guess because I'd already filled out everything else in the booklet that I possibly could) Luckily I don't think it will cause any issues and it wasn't something they were interested in last time and nothing has changed since then...

chiliplant · 16/09/2014 17:18

I'm a bit confused. I thought I was having my mid wife booking in appointment this morning at home at nine thirty. Waited by the door and nothing. Rang at ten thirty to her mobile. No answer so left a message. Also rang the clinic number given on letter also no answer. I'm sure I haven't got the wrong day but I'm confused. Should have rung again mm but I'm a bit phone phobic! Anyway, I'm eleven weeks and scan is next week so I'm a bit confused!x

cinnamongreyhound · 16/09/2014 17:45

Not at all minipie they just get that bit more independent, start preschool and you start loosing them a little bit I always felt. Ds2 was 4 on Saturday and he's been hardwork since he could move but also sooooo lovely and his tantrums are calming down now so he's becoming easier.

Rude for her not to have called you back chiliplant, hope you find out what happened soon!

BrixtonBunny · 16/09/2014 17:50

I concur with others, my booking in took ages, was with midwife, took urine sample and bloods and weight and very full medical history, as well as asking about mental health, dv, planned pregnancy, etc.

Have been feeling a bit less sick the last few days though still exhausted and hungry. Hoping it's not a bad sign. Less than two weeks until scan Confused

In other news we've had our offer accepted on a flat today - woo! Grin Now to start the hell that is our mortgage application... Hmm

10+4

Wineandchoccy · 16/09/2014 18:41

stuntman I agree with the others that it doesn't sound like you had the booking in appointment. Mine was about 1hour 1/2 including height, weight, blood tests, urine sample and filling in the notes with every question you could ever think of.

chiliplant how annoying, had you booked the day off work?

brixton we have just remortgaged with Coventry building society I can definitely recommend them it only took 10 days to sort out and it was all done via email and text. Friends were using the post office but have given up after 6 weeks and swapped to Coventry last week and there survey gets done tomorrow.

9w 4d today and I'm sooooooo tired, DH making tea and I already have my pjs on Grin

Lindalove · 16/09/2014 19:01

Can anyone start to feel their uterus in their tummy? I'm 11 weeks 3 days and can feel a harder lumpier thing a bit to the right just above my pelvic area. It's where I can hear baby's heartbeat via Doppler so I guess that's my uterus? Or I urgently need the loo....
Pretty sure it's my uterus as it feels muscly ... Is it normal for it to be on the right?

Stuntman · 16/09/2014 19:03

I'll have my scan appointment at 12-14 weeks which is usually a combination of midwife and consultant IMO, then I see the midwife again at 16 weeks so maybe one of those will be booking in. They're going to have to take blood at some point as I have some stupid messed up blood type as a result of a placental abruption so they'll have to have the right blood on hand for me when I have my caesarean.

sazzle82G · 16/09/2014 19:21

I had my booking appointment today. Exciting! Took ages for me too. She asked all sorts of questions. Seems so weird that no one has checked if I am actually pregnant. We're all just relying on this stick I bought from a shop. I got a scan date straight away though which was brilliant. No hanging around waiting for letters. 8th Oct is the big day. Bit sad my DH will miss it though as he's away. Wondering if I should take someone along with me or just brave it alone.

kittenmamma · 16/09/2014 19:30

After a really shite start to the day, it's turned out quite good. Got home from work at 2.30, and was asleep by 3, slept till seven, had a cuddle with the kittens (who I've been super grumpy with recently) and now that my bloating has deflated a bit I can definitely feel where my uterus is, which is lovely since I got put back so far after my dating scan.

Fingerscrossed36 · 16/09/2014 19:35

Not posted for ages but been keeping up with you ladies :-)

Stuntman I agree with the booking in appointment. Mine was an hour and a half for a second pregnancy with the midwife.

chilliplant hope you got some answers from the midwife, seems a bit rude not to have returned your call.

Brixton hope everything goes smoothly with the house move

Had a scan today dated me at 11+6 giving me a edd of the 1st April (only a day earlier than I calculated :-)

The nausea is slowly subsiding, been horrendous since about 5 weeks

kittenmamma · 16/09/2014 19:44

Have now caught up (wanted to get my positive thought down fast!)
Stunt I wasn't given much info at the GP but midwife did call me up a few days before scan so if I were you id try to get a number for them and just ask, they won't mind!
Lindalove yeah definitely, I think you'll 'know' when you feel it, but I've been feeling for it for ages and it's just popped up in the last couple of days, baba is on a growth spurt! I hope this means I might get my dates put forward a little.
Anyone have any clues about this?
LMP is 16/06/14, I didn't get a period in July at all, but tested negative and then when it still didn't show up in august I tested again, and it was positive. So when I found out I could have been 9 weeks or 5 weeks, and at my 12 or 8 weeks scan I waadated 7+4 which i thought was even a bit behind, hence my hope that I'll be moved forward a little.
But my reckoning is that we may have had something in the works first time around. Hence the no period, as I've never missed one ever.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/09/2014 19:59

I posted the same thing the other day LindaLove, I think I can feel mine when I lay down. How rubbish I don't remember from before but I was 5st heavier so maybe it was more hidden and I didn't actually feel it :)

Glad you're feeling a bit better BrixtonBunny!

That's a real shame about your dh Sazzle82G, personally I'd take someone else along.

Had a crap day nausea wise but my friend has just dragged me on a run and I feel so much better!

sazzle82G that's totally how I felt when I was pregnant with my first. I was fairly convinced that when I went for my scan there would be nothing there and they'd tell me I was a half crazed time waster!! I couldn't even look at the screen at first... All the worse for the fact that I had next to no symptoms :/

this time round if there isn't one (or five) happy heart beats in there I'm going to be pissed, because I've had morning sickness up the wazoo!
