Thanks mswibble I found them when I googled I think I might speak to DH tonight and see if we can go this week and see Pip.

prevlurker123 · 15/09/2014 16:55

Although I dont post much I do love coming on and reading everyones updates! Its so daunting being a first time mum but knowing we are all going through it together, with the advice of those who have done it before, is so reassuring!

Got my first midwife appt this week (I guess thats booking in?! ) I will be 8w+6d. Then first scan soon ish at 11weeks! Finally feel like Im almost getting somewhere! We are waiting til 12 weeks to tell most people except parents and although im glad im doing it its totslly killing me having to keep it quiet!

Been feeling ok recently though I just coughed and had such pain in my stomach! ..must be all that stretching going on!?

minipie · 15/09/2014 17:12

lurker I've had the sudden pain in tummy too - when coughing and also when twisting/stretching in one direction or lifting DD at a funny angle. I think it's a ligament thing but it is scary.

Linda yep in theory it means I would get to sleep from 7pm till 3amish (although once you've had dinner it's more like 9pm, for me anyway). Although it can take a couple of weeks for them to be down to 4 hourly feeds, but I wouldn't introduce a ff for at least a couple of weeks anyway, to get supply up and running. Yes I don't think one feed replaced with formula would damage supply as long as it's well established by the time you switch. Might mean a few nights of slightly swollen boobs as they get used to the slight drop in demand, but for DD the 11pm feed was always fairly small anyway.

My boobs swelled most during pregnancy (during weeks 18-24 I think) - breastfeeding didn't make them that much bigger except right at the start - it did delay them deflating though which was quite welcome (I have fairly small boobs naturally so liked having cleavage for a change!)

cinnamongreyhound · 15/09/2014 17:26

Neither of mine would have a dream feed! So it was 8pm and then whenever they decided to wake which for ds1 was 1-4am and then 6am and ds2 was from 1am onwards and then he'd feed 1-4 times more per night which was a bit of a shock Sad

Feeling crampy, bloated and fed up. Just got a call from the doctors apparently the admin person was on holiday and just got back, I had to fill in the referral over the phone and I'll hear from the mw at about 10w.
Pretty sure they rang me after my scan and the doctor I had been seeing had passed the referral on to the mw then. Angry Must of imagined that conversation then! Either way that's another week and half to 2weeks of stressing till I see a mw.

BananaToast · 15/09/2014 18:02

I feel so bloated today too - I look about 6 months gone! It's the first day I've felt like this, jeans felt very uncomfortable this afternoon.

Lauren82000 · 15/09/2014 18:05

Snap my jeans were a bit on the snug side too and they are stretchy onesBlush

londonlivvy · 15/09/2014 18:53

hi everyone.

I'm 10 weeks with DC2, feeling rough. kinda like a month long white wine hangover. shudder. scan not til 2 Oct which feels like ages away.

I bf DD1 for six months which was fine from a feeding point of view (ie no tongue tie etc) but she was a very unhappy baby with silent reflux. we eventually got to see a dietician who said she had lots of intolerances so I couldn't eat dairy, eggs or soy. Bit of a pain to begin with, though I got used to it. though the bonus was that I lost all the pregnancy weight (cos I basically couldn't eat anything nice). it was worth it though as she had basically screamed for about six weeks and within five days of my new diet... a happy baby. Grin

At about three months I managed to persuade DH to do a 10pm feed of expressed milk and that was v helpful for me getting more sleep. suspect expressing won't be possible this time because I'll also have a toddler, so I hope DC2 can tolerate formula. I did eventually get prescribed a hypo allergenic formula so that I could eat normally again but it's v v expensive so docs are reluctant.

[waves to all]

Hello, Banana, seconding Minipie on FMC being the place to get a Harmony test done. I actually didn't go there and it cost me quite bit more without the second scan even (but I took the hit cos I could get it done really nearby and didn't want to blow too much work time getting up to London and back, and feeling barfy on the tube). But, yeah, it looked on the website like FMC will even throw in a CVS if you find you need one.

Lindalove - my fellow 38-er :0) - can I join the 'newborn babies seem a bit boring' club? :0D I like it when they start trying out facial expressions, and a personality develops. (Tho whether I'll say that once I'm getting tripped up by a tantrumming toddler - fingers crossed - is another matter!)

Sazzle Re jogging. Yeah, I'm not sure either tbh :) .. I guess figuring I can't feel much more tired anyway, and knowing I'm going to feel better afterwards has kept me on it so far. The wonders of adrenaline! Most of my runs at the minute seem to work out at about 1 mile tho!! :0D

Hey, is anyone else absolutely sick to death of their mouth tasting weird?
I had an apple herbal tea the other day, and it tasted like Korean Instant Noodles, I kid you not.
Eating anything sugary makes it even worse. Bloody progesterone! >:0(

AnniaFausta · 15/09/2014 21:11

Misty - thanks for that - I think I should be fine for church if I just don't wear all the layers, but that might mean coming up with a better explanation than 'it might be that bug, you know, that bug'...

On the subject of breast feeding - a friend of a friend who was a paediatrician did the research when she was pregnant, and found that the medical studies showed that the medical benefits were huge for the first three months, and then rapidly tailed off after that. So she breast-fed dutifully for three months, then promptly switched to bottle. This was a few years ago, but when my friend mentioned that nugget of information, I squirreled it away for future reference...

I've got my first scan Tuesday next week. Mildly petrified. DH is going to try to get the morning off to come with me, though. As I think they've got me two weeks further along than I am, I'm expecting to be called back for another scan, but I'm not going to complain about a check-in at this stage.

9w+2

daholster · 15/09/2014 21:44

cinnamon Thank you! I feel very lucky since I always worried the op I had might have affected my fertility - a small risk I was told but a risk all the same. Just got everything crossed now just like you guys!

minipie UC stands for ulcerative colitis, it's where you get ulcers in your large intestine so it bleeds, doesn't work properly (lots of urgent, loose and just plain wrong toilet trips every day!) and basically makes you sick. And you just feel exhausted and ill. I'm much better now I only have 20cm of it left in! I need that left there for when I am ready for my reconstruction. Babies first Smile

Good luck to all those with scans this week! Mine is on the 3rd now. It feels like ages away... We are telling our parents this weekend though because hubby is off on business and if I am struck down with morning sickness stuff need a hand it will be easier to ask. Want to do the t-shirt on my daughter thing - "I'm going to be a big sister" - at a family meal on Sunday, but not sure the t-shirt will arrive on time. I'll be so disappointed if doesn't!!!

Hope everyone is feeling ok today.

Lindalove · 15/09/2014 22:14

nunkie hi fellow 38-er ! Yes I have two nieces and no 1 niece became interesting when she started to show who she was - this was from about 18 months. She couldn't talk but you could see she was a cheeky minx. No 2 niece is now getting to 18 months and doesn't take crap from anyone - someone tried to pinch the iPhone she'd nicked the other day and she have them a hand slap!

I imagine you do find your own baby fascinating though - that would explain why my facebook feed is full of pics of my mates' babies all pretty much looking identical. Have promised myself I won't do that but probably will as will no doubt decide my baby is the most attractive and fascinating baby that ever lived.

daholster · 15/09/2014 23:36

Lol nunkie that's what happened to me... Of course my daughter is the most wonderful baby of the lot! Grin lots of fb pictures just as I wasn't going to... I try not to bore but def don't manage it! My family love the updates though.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/09/2014 07:13

I wasn't and am not really a baby person but they do have their lovely points. Ds2 was much easier than ds1 which drew me to them more but I did cuddle mine as much as I had time for when tiny it's so relaxing! Ds1's nappy was the first is ever changed now I've probably done a million with 6 years of minding! 18months to 3 is the most magical time for me but I'm going to attempt to cherish every moment with this one!

Sod the medical benefits AnniaFausta, pick up baby, nappy and change of clothes and walk out of the house that's the main benefit of bfing at 3 months Wink

On an unbaby related topic I visit a friend last night who's ds is the same age as ds1 but also has 2 much older kids and it turns out I've inadvertently manage to set her up with a lovely man!! Ahhhhhhhh

I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow, luckily I'm able to spend 95% of my time in lounge wear at home. Given that lots of you are working I feel very thankful that I don't have to do that and that I don't have any other children either yet.

I'm pretty much nursing myself through each day, yesterday was good until the evening. I thought I would have a nap after feeling sick and slept for over two hours.

I get the same feelings if I twist or sneeze, so I think that's normal. Possibly just eveeythingn stretching down there is leaving us sore!

I really can't wait to get past the worst point, I don't know exactly when that is though. I actually find sickness worse than pain, at least labour has a distinct end point!

daholster · 16/09/2014 10:10

Hi siarie - I know what you mean about nausea and pain. The early days are hard but will hopefully all be worth it.

The doctor just called to say I'm anaemic and need another blood test, it's booked for next week, I hope that's soon enough. Maybe that's why I am getting short of breath!

2 weeks and 3 days until my scan, it's feels like ages away, I'm getting all worked up about it. It is difficult being patient and waiting. Just desperate to know if all is ok in there!

9+4 today, must do some work...

Rhiannon85 · 16/09/2014 10:18

8 weeks today and DH has gone away until Christmas today too.

Been sick a few times and completely put off by food. Anyone got any hints and tips for non-puke inducing snacks?

First scan booked on 14th October, gutted DH won't be here. Anyone else going solo? :)

CatRen27 · 16/09/2014 10:58

Hi all, been massively remiss on keeping up to date with everyone on here but glad to see you're all still here!

I had my scan yesterday, so I'm 10+6 today and EDD 8 April as predicted. It was so amazing to see something that looks like an actual person (kind of), wriggling around and waving its arms about, and to see the heartbeat. DH was gobsmacked. Another scan on the 30th as it was a bit early for some of the tests so looking forward to seeing the little dude/dudette again!

Also told our families yesterday and some close friends, which was really lovely. Everyone delighted.

Feeling horrendous today but all of the above makes it worth it x

littleluna89 · 16/09/2014 10:58

Got my booking in appointment today ( assuming there hasn't been another mess up at the surgery grumbles ) so I'll finally (hopefully) have a good idea of what's going on with my care and scans.

Pretty sure my bloods are going to show up that I'm anaemic as I can't keep most foods down, I've basically lived on smooth soup and custard since I brought up my lunch at work on Sunday >.

LobsterMagnet · 16/09/2014 11:48

littleluna I also just had my booking in appointment today. I thought it might make the pregnancy seem all the more real but it still doesn't. I don't think I'll really believe it until the scan in a couple of weeks. 10w+1 today. EDD different to what the nurse gave me a few weeks ago, it's now 12th April but could change again after scan!

LobsterMagnet · 16/09/2014 11:51

Catren, that sounds fantastic! I really can't wait for the scan now, although I can imagine being a little freaked out seeing that there's something growing inside me. I hope you feel better soon too!

daholster · 16/09/2014 12:33

Just found out my grandma is dying. I'm so sad. I hope she understands me telling her first about our pregnancy news when I get there this weekend but apparently she is mostly asleep and not with it much when she is awake. She has been the most awesome grandma and I feel a bit heartbroken even though I am 32!!! We've been told she has days to a couple of weeks so I'll go across this weekend, and give my mum a huge hug too. With all these hormones I'm worried I'll be an unhelpful wreck!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 16/09/2014 13:17

I'm so sorry daholster, I lost my nan not long after I found out I was pregnant was ds1. We had a long chat about it where she repeated a lot a few days before she died so at least she knew and was very excited even if she forgot after I left.

Hope it goes well littleluna89! I was really sick with ds1 and wasn't anaemic at booking, guess it depends on your stores.

It will get better Sairie!

Siarie just a bit of warning about labour. I threw up and dry heaved for all 14 hours of my labour with DD. The mw got cross with me because I couldn't drink anything and had to put a drip in. I'm still convinced it was because I was induced and contractions came out of nowhere. Still it was well worth smelling like sick for hours when I held her for the first time. Wink

daholster · 16/09/2014 14:13

Perhaps it was the meds used to induce you? My friend was sick with the pain, I felt I was going to heave at the transition stage but thankfully didn't. I haven't heard of people being sick in general without meds or through pain though? Unless it was the hormone surge. Poor you, anyway, it sounds horrid!!!
