Pram arrived today. We have put it up, and it is so much lighter and easier than the Silver Cross we had last time. I might even be able to get it up and down our front doorstep, which would be great. We have put it back in the box for now, as we haven't worked out where we can store it once it is up.

I am exhausted despite not having been to work since Tuesday just because that is the way my shifts have worked out this week. Starting tomorrow I am working 13hr shifts alternate days for a week though with my last nightshift next weekend. It takes me more than a day to recover from the 13hrs at work though, so not sure how I will manage that. I feel terrible about 3yr old DD, because I am too tired to want to do anything with her. This afternoon DH made me have a nap (so now I feel worse because I always do after a short nap) when I had planned to take her to the park. I am sure that last pregnancy I didn't have such problems sleeping. Now I am waking up every couple of hours and can't get comfortable. Last night I woke up at 3am in such pain that it felt like a contraction that lasted for about 4mins. I don't know what that was all about.

Petal26 · 13/09/2014 20:44

2 weeks of school down, 6 weeks to go until I can stop!
Finding myself cross eyed in the mornings before I've even started so am definitely ready for a rest already.
My hips have started to hurt this week, waking up in pain and noticing it when i stand up after sitting for a while, have bought my exercise ball and it's blown up in the living room, DD loves it, ha!

Hope you're alright Twiglet, sounds awful that noone helped you.

My dresses arrived from ASOS, this one has been worn today (in grey), will be perfect for feeding afterwards. Thought i'd share as its cheaper than most nursing dresses you come across!
this one fits really nicely as well, worn yesterday :-)
I know it's late in the day to be buying clothes but i reckon they'll both be well worn over the next couple of months!

Vicky5910 · 14/09/2014 09:47

I'm the same Petal! Exhausted just getting in to school. 6 weeks to go for me too. Counting down! I don't think I will make it. I had to come home on Friday after I went wobbly in a lesson. I'm just so dizzy all the time!

Petal26 · 14/09/2014 11:09

Vicky DH keeps telling me to stop now! They STILL haven't sorted out my cover so who knows what's going to happen! I taught P.E on Friday, bouncing around demonstrating, don't think I'll do that again :-)
Going to watch my ladies rugby team play their first game of the season today, wish I was playing too Sad

FTMK · 14/09/2014 16:29

Petal and Vicky - I have 6 weeks left too and there seems to be so much to do before then in order to hand over my subject areas and leadership responsibilities. We also have a new leadership team so there's lots of changes - I've just spent all of today analysing data and completing evaluation forms. Arghhh! Vicky have you had your BP checked and are you drinking enough? I was having dizzy spells and they checked that but then sent me for the GTT because is was having them only in a morning. Turns out I do have GD but it only seems to affect me in the morning if I eat cereal or porridge - rest of the day my numbers are fine.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 14/09/2014 18:53

I have just had week n a bit off and off tomorrow I don't work Mondays, only doing morning this week as little one still on half day at school. Then for 4weeks I am doing Mon-fri but working 8-2.30 so can collect little one from school and then I am done- so 5weeks and then I have about 11mths off

ladydolly · 14/09/2014 19:18

My mat cover starts tomorrow so I have a 5 week handover, on the one hand it's great, on the other I have to fit in doing my job as well as teaching someone else how to do my job!

Had some maternity photos done today, they're not really my 'thing' but my sis is a photographer so she's done them for free and I'd like a record of how I looked while pregnant that isn't a hideous mobile phone photo/video of me eating a kebab (thanks DP for that).

Vicky5910 · 14/09/2014 19:20

FTMK I don't know how you cope with leadership things too! I've said no to anything extra this year. Last year I took on a coordinator role to help out with staffing issues, but I couldn't do it now.
I've been in for monitoring of BP and had a GTT. As far as I know I'm all clear, no news is good news I guess! I'm glad it's nothing serious, but it's still frustrating, I hate not being able to give 100% to everything!
Do you have to check your blood sugar every day? That must be hard. Are eggs good in the morning instead of carbs? Or salmon? X

amy83firsttimer · 14/09/2014 21:56

12 shifts left but it might be less if I can wangle it. I've fucked tomorrow up though and we'll be really short staffed but after that I'm not working til Saturday. I'm a little scared that I'll daydream it's actually mat leave and be disappointed when Saturday comes along. Can't wait for mat leave. and the baby coming I'm so impatient!!!

weeonion · 14/09/2014 22:30

hey folks!

another weekend over and one nearer to labour and baby!

My birthing pool has arrived - its huge!!! The home birth kit from NHS with oxygen, drip stand and gas n air arrives in 2 weeks........... Its all getting a bit real....

other homebirthers - when is your stuff arriving? Stripeytoes -havent seen you on here in an age - hope you are doing ok!!

Loaf99 · 15/09/2014 07:00

Hi everyone! I've got two months of work left. Bring it on!! What's opinions on changing bags bother splashing for organisation or just shove everything in a back pack?

Greenstone · 15/09/2014 07:34

I bought a black leather backpack/rucksack yesterday, Loaf. Think it will suit me better and feel more freeing when I'm out walking etc, especially if I need a hand for the toddler. I find I get annoyed when I'm weighed down with a changing bag on my shoulder or across my body (I'm quite little). But everyone's different - a proper changing bag with all the different pockets for organisation (and bottle space) really suits some people. See what you fancy!

weeonion · 15/09/2014 08:28

I think with changing bags - depends on what you are up to and how you are feeding. With dd, i didn't need to take much out at all. A couple of nappies, some damp wipes, a facecloth p, a muslin and that was it. We were bf so didn't have all that to transport. Plus, in early days so little to ferry about. From about 6 months, its different with food etc. We baby led weaned so didn't have to cart purees with us etc. We baby wear / carry most of the time so a back pack is handier.

ToniWol · 15/09/2014 09:02

Two weeks left. The later starts in the morning are helping but I'm still feeling exhausted at the end of the day. Have had naps both the last two days so today could be interesting. Especially given I woke up twice during the night and then with the alarm at 6am.

At least the hip pain has eased.

Hope everyone else has good Mondays. Whether they're working or not.

blamber · 15/09/2014 10:25

I am so tired today! The hip pain at night is getting worse, I guess because of the extra weight. I just wake up all the time and have to walk around to take the weight off. I'm waking my boyfriend up as well, which I feel really guilty about so I might sleep in the spare room tonight. But... I only have this week left at work! Yay!

Had a family dinner at the weekend and felt so uncomfortable. The seat was making my back hurt and I was trapped in the corner as someone else had (badly) planned the seating. No way I could squeeze past everyone after we were all seated so I'm glad I didn't need to wee! The meal gave me reflux as well so I couldn't wait to go home. Guess that was my last meal out for a while!

Annarose2014 · 15/09/2014 11:24

Congrats blamber! Going on early mat leave is the best thing I could have done. I still have my Carer thing which is full-on, and tbh am starting to wonder how much longer I can do it. Another couple of weeks tops, I'd say.

But the feeling of being able to stay in my enormous size-18 Primark nightie till 11am is AMAZING! Grin

Baby was rolling around like a tidal wave all night - On the one hand I'm grateful for the movements but on the other I find it utterly exhausting. And if I move position in bed at all baby seems to say "Wooo! We're moving! Lets explore!"

blamber · 15/09/2014 11:40

Anna yes I'm so glad it's the last week. I would dread having to work longer. I'm exhausted and it means I can get all the baby preparations done!

Baby likes to move around when I roll over too. He's particularly found of pushing/kicking down the side I'm lying on. Or he goes for the ribs!

Petal26 · 15/09/2014 11:57

Vicky FTMK I have found that I can't have cereals at the moment, they don't seem to fill me up or take away my morning nausea. Sticking to bagels/crumpets although made a warm cheese and ham croissant with 2 pears this morning, was amazing!

Loaf I used the bag I got free with my Oyster last time, treated myself to a flowery Cath Kidston changing bag this time, I like having all the separate pockets to spread everything out.

TwigletFiend · 15/09/2014 13:19

Bah, I am now so hungry... Darn your food talk! Grin

Six weeks left at work and counting. Boo Sad

I would love to reply to everyone (and I will do later) but I am now going to have to go and stuff my face.

Annarose2014 · 15/09/2014 14:10

This morning I was over at my sisters and she was cleaning out the stray bits of pasta that had gone into the middle drain bit in the sink and I swear I thought I was gonna hurl all over her nice new kitchen. She was all "its only a bit of wet pasta" but

Am going to try to keep down a sausage now. Fnar fnar.......

CraziesTogether · 15/09/2014 14:11

6 weeks left for me too although my cover starts on Monday and once the operational part of my job is handed over I can work from home a few days a week.

I am waiting to feel like crap but so far I seem to be really lucky with sleeping and aches & pains. My only complaint is awful pain in my coccyx since about week 20....probably caused by too much sitting on it :(

I'm having cowboy pie for dinner tonight eastmids and I cannot wait Smile

weeonion · 15/09/2014 14:19

The closing date for my mat leave was on Friday. No-one applied. :-(
It is a really specialist job on a tough issue but was hoping to get someone. It receives quite specific funding sp if no one it, no funding for either them or me. My Board governor's is suggesting less than 4 months now....
. :-(

CraziesTogether · 15/09/2014 14:31

weeonion recruiting has been a complete nightmare and taken months to find someone okish to keep it going. I didn't realise that it would be so difficult...but on the other hand I don't want someone too good to replace me or I may not have the same job to come back to!

weeonion · 15/09/2014 16:24

:-) crazie - i know what you mean. I want someone good to deliver the work plan but not to run off and develop all new work!!!
The pants thing is that my funding is reliant on outputs and paid in arrears so there is no mat cover, there is no work delivered and no funding. I truly love my work and feel incredibly priveledged to have it but it is a specialism that many people are "scared" of. I have worked so hard to cram as many outcomes into past 6 months and this is why i am working right up to due date but want some time with my baby.

I sloped off to loos early for a noisy bawl.......

CraziesTogether · 15/09/2014 16:53

Oh no! Try not to let it stress you out too much. It's a tough complexed situation by the sound of it.

Fortunately for me my job doesn't 'make a difference' in the sense that no ones welfare or happiness is in my hands so I can switch off when the time comes.

I am working to the bitter end to max out my bonus and make sure the new me is ready to take over.

You can think of anyone you know weeonion who could step in? Even if you had to train them up?
