annarose- excuse me what? Induction before your EDD? Without a medical reason? How, what, why? So they can schedule you?
Bleeding heck.

twiglet My mum will still have DS but just means that she'll have to cancel days at work as they run their own business, although I have other family around that can watch him whilst she's working. Plus my dad wont get to meet baby till he gets back. TBH its more about my dad meeting the baby that im down about.

Er...38 weeks that was meant to be!

Annarose2014 · 22/10/2014 14:35

She tried to persuade me to book myself in for induction! At 38 was! Apparently if I didn't do it soon they may be booked up and "there may be no room in the book"

I gave her short shrift. I said bluntly that there was no clinical rationale for considering induction at all. I'm still fuming!

Hope everyone's well today - got the last antenatal class today - covers complications - might just cover my.ears and go "la la la not listening"!

Still need ideas for new thread name or you'll be lumbered with another functional boring one from me!

Morning, all.

Keeping an eye on Bean today. Relatively quiet yesterday, though still moving a fair bit, and same again today so far. Not too worried as still feeling movement, but if the same at lunchtime am thinking I'll ring the MW to double check whether I should go in.

Petal and excited, hopefully those babies will do a little twirl on their own. It seems logical to me that its more likely to happen if you're relaxed though, so if it's uncomfortable on the ball, slouch away!

happy, I am under MW care but have my next appointment tomorrow, which is 3 weeks since the last one. I'm one appointment behind you, if that makes sense, so will let you know when MW books me in again. Hope your pain eases off completely, make sure DP pampers you this evening once the parents evening saga is complete!

Glad you slept well, Winter, after the stress of the will-baby won't-baby a few weeks ago! Have you got an alternate plan in case your Dad is still away when baby decides to make an entrance?

catg, I am very envious! Acupuncture this weekend though, which should be relaxing. My lower back muscles are a bit sore, so might get her to give those a poke while I'm there! We seem to be having a food crisis too - I realised on Monday that I had forgotten to order our usual food shop! Blush Luckily I have managed to book an Asda delivery for this evening, but we won't be having dinner until after it arrives...

This week seems to be dragging - one week left at work as of Friday and I can't wait. Struggling a fair bit now, even though it's just an office job. I am full of admiration for anyone who works right up until D-Day! Ah well, it's Wednesday today, so it's a downhill roll run to the weekend now.

Strawberry, enjoy your massage and hope you slept better last night.

weeonion, hope you're still enjoying your maternity leave. How are you feeling?

I have my 38 wk MW appt today. Doubt it'll tell me much.

Cramping has completely stopped, so baby is obviously biding its time. I suspect the cramping is associated with stress - there have been some tentative mentions of nursing homes etc with my elderly parents from various hospital social workers and doctors and people as both as so frail, and obviously we're all pretty traumatised by those discussions. And still no fucking biopsy results back! Maybe today.....maybe.....Angry

But when I am in good form there's no pain, so def think its associated. Am trying very hard to keep relaxed - I went over to the hospital yesterday and determinedly avoided all but the lightest most good humoured chat. Not for his sake but for mine!!!! Worked though - I spent the night unable to sleep but giggling over that Mel B impression from that gay couple on Celebrity Gogglebox the other night. I shook so hard giggling I thought I'd wake DH up!

I haven't a clue about baby position except its cephalic. I suspect its arse-out from the feel of it but must ask today. Much smaller movements, its running out of wriggle room!

Pink girly thoughts- I had an appointment like that about 3 weeks ago and it leg the in tears. I think midwives think they are being more honest by giving general info as every person is different, but it just winds me up.

Happypotamus- that sounds like a horrible night and then to deal with inlaws. Bleugh.

I had my pregnancy massage that ended up being a little more physio like and a little less relaxing stroking. Still almost fell asleep though. my back is feeling much better this morning for it too.
Today's mission is to do a big 'useful' food shop. We have lots of food but no meals. x

Gosh lots to catch up on!!

Been a busy couple of days here, just getting final bits sorted. Irregular contractions are starting to bug me. Saw my parents yesterday who said I looked worn out so kept DS for the night Grin Slept really well last night which is good.

Now have to keep baby in as long as possible till my Dad gets home from work!

MW appointment yesterday at 38 weeks, 3/5ths engaged and everything is fine. Next appointment at 41 weeks for a sweep!

I asked about baby's position at my midwife appointment yesterday, as sometimes I feel all the kicks on my left side, and sometimes on my right, so I think it's still doing a lot of moving around, and after reading on the spinning babies website that one side is good, but the other side means baby is more likely to go back to back, I'm now a bit worried about it. She seemed really reluctant to tell me where baby actually was, other than being head down, and said that it doesn't really matter, even if back to back, because it won't actually be any more painful in labour, you just perceive it to be that way! Didn't find her particularly helpful, to be honest. Confused

Report
happypotamus · 22/10/2014 08:28

Nobody has ever told me what position my baby is in or whether its head is engaged at all or not. I suspect that is because I am under consultant-led care and have most of my antenatal appointments at the hospital with a dr rather than a midwife. I never see the same dr but maybe they just don't think about the same things as the midwives. I might book an appointment to see my midwife next week, as the hospital said last Friday to see them again in 3 weeks (which will be past my due date) which seems a long time to wait between appointments at this stage. Or maybe it isn't?

I had the worst night sleep ever. I've been awake since 3am. Woke up in agony, a continuous pain but only on the right side of the bump into my back and hip and down my leg. There were no comfortable positions. Eventually I found lying on my back was a bit better, but then I worried about how you are not supposed to lie on your back. The pain lasted until about 4.30, then I was just mildly uncomfortable, but didn't fall back to sleep until just before it was time to get up and get DD ready for pre-school. And, I have my in-laws here today. FIL is coming to install their old sink unit in our bathroom (although we politely declined when offered it), then they are babysitting while we go to parents' evening at pre-school. I would like to go to bed or lie on the settee watching crap TV, but instead I have to make conversation and entertain MIL and tidy the house back up before they come. I possibly have to go to a prospective parents' open day at a primary school we are considering for DD too, but I don't want to walk that far. Sorry, another moaning post from me.

I only found out at my 34 week scan petal and now any examination they do they check to see if he/she has turned round yet! Apparently plenty of time but floor scrubbing and leaning over the yoga ball is the way forward!! Can't wait to feel a big bum sticking out of my tummy! Knees thumping off it is very sore Confused

Although I will be cleaning bathrooms tomorrow so will be bending over doing that Grin

petal I can definitely relate my baby is back to back and I was all determined to start shifting it today... Sat on the ball for about 5 mins then waddled off to the kitchen grabbed a packet of crisps and resumed slouching comfy position on sofa!

Glad you liked the idea of the safari park, take snacks though. It took 2 hours to drive around the 'safari' bit and we ran out of snacks! Didn't expect it to take that long!

Saw midwife yesterday, not my usual one, not that you really get a 'usual' one...
Measuring small but she didn't seem too bothered, I mentioned that movements were different, less frequent but I had been busy moving a lot and so she kept referring back to that and telling me to go and get monitored. I'm not worried, he is moving when I rest..
She had a (painful) poke around and said 2/5 palpable (is that right? 3/5 of head in pelvis?) but that is normal with second babies as they tend to pop in and out? (helpful babies!) I think he's been there for a week, can certainly feel it!
She said possibly back to back as well, just like DD was, yay! I may just have to prepare myself for another painful labour as the only time I am comfortable at the moment is slouching back on the sofa, the ball is giving me backache, so if I've got another few weeks of being pregnant and heavy I am going to slouch when I can Grin

Nearly new thread time..... Any suggestions? It'll need to cover most of the babies arriving so maybe something to do with that?

Felt great after decent sleep last night so dragged DH swimming (he normally hates it) and then started getting reflux feeling throat in the pool. Lurverly!
37+1. X

Glad we r not only ones who lay with older children to go to sleep not a thing to admit as a maternity night nanny :) although husband started it n he does bedtime n ds is asleep in 5mins anyway once bedtime routine done.

Sitting by door is a good move and something I suggest when sleep training

Last night was probably the first night with sleep problems... Started all with me having bad heartburn when I was lying down, which disappeared when I sat up. Up to now it was always a minor thing I could get away by drinking glass of milk, but last night it came back as soon as I got down. Didnt have any tablets for this at home because it has never been a problem and I hope it was one-off and I will stay medicine free till the glorious end of the pregnancy. Eventually I fell asleep till 2 am still feeling some heartburn. Usually if I wake up I would grab a book and it would send me back to sleep in 20 mins, tonight it was more than hour and I was wide awake and never went to bed properly until the alarm went off at 6.30am.

I will be sleeping tight tonight... But on Thursday I am opening my maternity leave with 1,5 hours pg massage. Ahhh, looking forward to it despite that last time I fell asleep there to wake up with a big jerk because one of my arms fell off the massage bed and I thought I was falling off myself. Blush

Morning all, bad cramps started last night and have continued today. We arrived back home early & I've gone back to bed as its literally too uncomfortable to do anything but lay on my side.

The cramps are completely new. I wish I knew whether they were the start of something or if they were going to drag on for days if not weeks. They're pretty full on, but no mucus plug or show or anything. God, this stage is so tedious! Like waiting for a bus!

In other news I had a glorious hotel shower only to discover that there was no conditioner. So I walked out of the hotel looking like a young Jon BonJovi. though DH preferred to call me The Lion King. He thinks its hilarious, especially when I looked in the mirror and said mournfully "Oh I can't possibly go into labour with hair like this!!"

Happy, we used to have to do that with DS, but stopped it a few weeks ago because I didn't want him to associate the new baby with mummy not lying in bed with him any more. I now sit on the floor outside his room and read a book to myself while he drops off, so that he can see I'm still there, but he's actually falling asleep by himself- I figured this was something that could continue fairly easily when the baby is here, so his routine shouldn't be disrupted too much. Might be a bit easier for you than trying to quietly roll yourself out of a single bed (speaking from experience!) :)

Maths, any news yet?

Turning over in and getting out of bed is a bit of a problem, but not as much as lying in DD's single bed next to her waiting for her to fall asleep then trying to get up and out again without waking her up! I think I might have to give up trying that. She can go to sleep without us lying next to her, but she likes it and so do I. Sadly, it mostly won't be possible in a few weeks when I've got the new baby too anyway. It always seems to be awake at the moment while I am reading DD's bedtime and putting her to bed, so I wonder if that timing will continue once it is born.

I feel quite guilty for not having any sleeping problems! I've slept with a cushion between my knees for months but other than that I'm still comfy. I have to get up for at least 2/3 wees a night but I fall straight back to sleep. Although DP had to move to the spare room about a month ago, he wasn't getting any sleep because of the mattress tidal wave when I did turn over and the my snoring!! I never snored before I was pregnant!!

3 more half days at work and I'm done. Cannot come soon enough although have both my mat cover off today and my assistant off with a sports injury and on top of that I have to start a performance improvement plan for my assistant before I go because she's been such a total nightmare during the handover period. It's like having a toddler who's playing up because of the change and has decided everything I've ever taught them is wrong. Could definitely do without it at 37+5 and counting!!

Great to hear good news coming in for people. Hope the aches and pains start to ease up soon!!

I've just started having a pillow between my legs in bed. It makes the top leg more comfortable, but doesn't really do much for the bottom one! I've also noticed my lower back cracking when I roll over in bed- I'm quite a creaky person anyway, always have been, so it's not too much of a surprise!
