These stop start pains are really starting to piss me off! DS is at nursery tomoro so Im thinking DTD, long walk and time on my ball. I just wish the pains would either come to something or just go away!!

Oh winter. It must be so draining and frustrating for you. I am also on October thread and I think it was goats on there who said that every one of these contractions/ surges/ pains are actually doing something worthwhile. Try and not get too down about them ( easy to say I know!!).

39 & 1 here. Unlike you an arose, I dont feel ready to go. Despite discomfort and tiredness, I just don't think my time is nigh. I can totally get where you are coming from though. I remember with DD, it felt different. I have been reading over my MN posts from, that time and I was in a different headspace.
I spent the last week before DD was born focusing on the birth and getting ready whilst impatient and ever so ready.

Getting prepared for last week at work. Managed to get most things done so this is the handover with a couple of days working at home.

I feel for all struggling. We are nearly there folks, having done pretty amazing to get this far. We are so close to the end. By another 8 weeks, most of us will be done baking these babies. Xxxx

I hold my hands up to any of you still working. Looking after my 3 year old is plenty, especially when he's up at 5.30 Sad

weeonion thankyou, its just so frustrating. I was awake every 2 hours last night, in pain or thirsty or just uncomfy. I do think because I'd finally got my head around another prem baby im not prepared for going to term.

Morning all. Another poor sleeper here - loo trips and either waking up in the middle of the night for hours or very early. 5 more days of work to mat leave (currently 35+5). Actually been woken a couple of times tonight by low back /period type pain and stomache cramps - seems worse when I lie back down after loo trip. Baby was 3/5 engaged at last MW appt. Been sore since 5am but not coming in waves or timeable. Hoping it stops when I'm up and about although in another week I will welcome all this as a sign I might avoid induction! The stabbing pains in the cervix during the day are a joy aren't they though!

Glad to hear your news wee onion and hope everyone else is doing well esp those who've had troubles. Any word from maths?

Ooh - anyone else pets acting strange around them? We (well DP really as I am an animal tolerator not lover) have a bit of a barking stand offish cat whom the past few weeks has turned into a yowling demanding clingy nightmare. Everywhere I go, it has to be. It woke me at 3am by meowing into my face - not something it has done before. It is now trying to climb into my lap - eh?? It doesn't like to be cuddled / stroked so v unusual indeed!!

Morning! 37+1 here!
Getting aches and pains here too last night and this morning. Period pains, tightenings and back ache. Didn't get Braxton Hicks last time so not sure if that's what these are? Bump going very very tight.
Was awake from midnight til 4:30 ish, going to struggle today :-( Not so much in pain just wide awake.
I'm not ready yet, practically in the house or mentally, give me a few more days please baby!
weeonion my dog is driving me nuts following me around, did this last time too!
Lovely family day at a safari park yesterday. Was trying to think of something we could do with DD that didn't involve much walking for me, she loved it Smile

Oooh I wouldn't mind a safari park myself. I get restless in the house but can really only do things in the car these days. And we live in an urban area! I just can't walk for long.

Today DH is going away overnight for a work trip (his last before he's taking leave this week). He has insisted I come with him, which if course I wasn't going to do. But I'm definately up for it now.

Its not so much that either of us think I'm going to go tonight or anything, its more that at 38 wks I feel a bit vunerable being alone. Which is rather pathetic, I know!

Besides I absolutely looooove hotel baths, hotel beds, hotel bars.....just love all that. They always make my thoughts turn to shagging, but whilst the mind is willing, the body is weak...! Grin

Morning all! Hope we're all still battling through alright!

Thoughts with Maths, hope she's doing ok and her LO arrived safely.

I'm really feeling the tiredness hit now - struggled for the first time to muck out my stable this morning. Was bending over trying to sweep the floor and Bean was stuck under my ribs, was incredibly uncomfortable and made it difficult to bend low enough. Bah!

Petal, safari park sounds like a really nice idea. I have two more weeks left at work now, then two weeks of ML before EDD. It would be quite a nice thing to do with DP to spend some time together without me having to be up and walking - thanks!

Anyone else having issues turning over in bed at night? I'm mostly fine during the day, unless I sit still for too long and my joints stiffen up, but I'm waking up eight or nine times in the night trying to roll over. I now have to make a conscious effort to clamp my knees together around a pillow as I roll because if I part my knees at all it is agony - lightning crotch to the nth degree.

Anna, definitely take advantage and enjoy the hotel experience! I know what you mean, it's that lovely feeling of 'I don't have to cook my own breakfast/clean this bathroom/worry about doing XYZ' - very relaxing. Don't forget to pack your notes! and ask if the hotel where you're staying gives you free stuff if you go into labour there like John Lewis does.

FTMK, legs fingers crossed for you that baby stays put for a little longer.

Winter, fingers crossed for you that baby is ready to go ASAP! Thanks

weeonion, I am only 36+1 but I don't feel anywhere near 'ready' yet in terms of signs of impending eviction. I think we're probably as ready as we can be with baby things etc and I'm feeling pretty ok about the actual birth part for the moment, but I don't really feel like I'm 'close' at all, if that makes sense. I'd really like to finish out my work period and have a few quiet days of ML before Bean makes an appearance, so I suppose I'm on track for that, which is good!

Morning everyone.
Great to hear everyone's progress or lack of it it makes me think we're all so close now.
I'm 35 wks exactly today. We are moving on Friday and this last week has been bonkers for packing and gardening etc. Yesterday I spent about 4 hours trimming my garden front and back no not that type and when I finished I was in agony, should have known. Today I am driving to my new GP to hopefully register so I can get my 36 week check booked in next week in time.
Also trouble walking for longer than 30 mins, which with two dogs is unlikely. I just have to remind myself to take things easy.
Hope everyone is coping and getting on, it's lovely to see your updates.

Oooh Anna - enjoy yr hotel stay. Take full advantage of a long soak in a bath with multiple top ups of hot water. Bliss.
Safari park seems a fab idea!
Hotfuzx - hope it all goes well this week. Can't quite imagine packing and moving at this stage.

Equally twig - dont know how you are managing mucking out etc. Hopefully you will get some chill time before bubba arrives! Also struggling to turn in bed but so conscious of staying on left side that it takes the brunt!

I collected my diamorphine injections today for homebirth!!! Eek. A controlled substance in my cupboards. I think the woman in chemist got my home birth confused with a free birth.
Spent today scrubbing our floors to get bubba in position.

I am so happy today!

Have booked additional MW appointment as the baby position was driving me crazy and considering I am 1 week away from 36 weeks when midwifes have a mental cut off date for the baby to turn, I thought I would go in and talk what else I could do apart from bouncing on ball and crawling around on all fours through night. And it worked out that my girl has turned head down!!! Not engaged yet, but after weeks of baby positioning struggle and constantly hearing that baby is transverse, breech or anything else apart from head down, it feels like a huge victory! Phew!

I still need to get a confirmation in a week's time if the placenta has moved away from being near birth canal (I think I will open champagne when/if they confirm this one as well!), but even so it is a massive relief. I feel like I have been handed out an entrance to the water birth in the local birth centre! Don't want c-section sooooo badly.
And I have 2 more days left till the mat leave!

Looking back I probably should say that my baby girl has been brilliant to me as by not going head down all this time she has saved me weeks of pain in pelvis etc (could feel a pressure today on my way to the appointment) and I could enjoy myself all through the pregnancy.

Hello all. Well done everyone on hanging in there with all the various aches and pains.

I am finding walking ok when by myself, but with the boys in tow it is a different matter. My 6yo is fine of course, but my 3yo is a bit of pickle and liable to sit on the pavement have a tantrum etc. It's the manhandling of him that is the killer. The last few weeks we have been driving to and from school (0.6 mile so not far) for my sanity. Yesterday the levelling/suspension system in the car packed up which is making for a bumpy ride. I am telling myself that this is good for evicting the baby, but it's really not very pleasant for me Grin. I have booked the car into the garage for next week when I will have the PILs staying over half term with their car in case I need a quick lift to the hospital! In fact by hospital dates this baby is due next Thursday Shock. MIL is very excited about being here for the due date as they live 250 miles away. I can't help but feel that this baby won't oblige and pop out at a convenient time for her!

We don't have any pets, but I did have friends over for coffee this morning. Two of them brought their dogs with them and I definitely got sniffed a lot Blush. The PILs will be bringing their dog next week too. She normally goes nuts every time I walk into the room (some kind of competition for alpha female according to MIL) and that's when I'm not pregnant. I dread I think what next week will be like.

I am feeling a bit twingey, but nothing very measurable that would make me think things are imminent.

Enjoy the night away Anna you deserve the break. Don't interrupt it by having a baby or anything will you. Wink

Good babies turning! Mine's been head down for a while, but not engaged yet I think as I get shortness of breath quite a lot.

Twiglet I'm turning every ten minutes in bed! My hips hurt so I keep changing position, taking the maternity pillow with me between my legs. Being on my back, stretching my legs to the sides feels so good and my hips often give a big crack then, but I can't lie on my back any longer than a really short time.

Nesting behaviour made me clean the bathroom more thoroughly than ever before but now my pelvis is suffering! I have to keep reminding myself to take it easy.

eastmids I would happily munch my way through a multi pack of crisps or equivalent right now!

Have woken up this morning with my belly button popped out so far I think it's going to explode! Confused

Quite happy I managed another relatively decent nights sleep last night! Hope all of you did too!

blamber my hips hurt so bad I actually got to the stage where I put a single duvet on ny side of the bed and it definitely makes it easier on them for lying on my sides

Morning all. Hope everybody is feeling positive this morning.
I have a massage booked in today and cannot wait for some stroking.
Turning over in bed in a military operation here. I have a folded towel under bump to support the weight of that and then have a pillow between my knees. Turning over involves a lot of grunting.

pinkgirlythoughts · 21/10/2014 09:24

I've just started having a pillow between my legs in bed. It makes the top leg more comfortable, but doesn't really do much for the bottom one! I've also noticed my lower back cracking when I roll over in bed- I'm quite a creaky person anyway, always have been, so it's not too much of a surprise!
