Afternoon, ladies. Hop, flop or otherwise clamber aboard! Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Winter I hope you and the baby are ok.

I'm very emotional too. Started crying this weekend as I felt so uncomfortable (feet pushing my ribs) and my poor boyfriend never knows what to do. He wants to solve the problem but when there's no solution he gets frustrated. Sometimes I just want someone to listen and support me. I don't expect him to fix everything, but I can imagine it must be hard for him to see me upset without being able to do anything about it.

So when you buy cheap knickers for after labour it's best if they're granny pants? Not under the bump ones? And do you get a larger size?

bunnykitten · 08/09/2014 14:55

Our building work is finally very mostly done so we escaped for a few days to Spain last week. It was crazily hot (30+) and I got quite sick but messing around in the pool was lovely. In retrospect 31 weeks was probably too late in my pregnancy to go on holiday, but we desperately needed a break from the noise and the dust and the chaos of our building works! I've just realised I left a few nice maternity tops in the hotel room, I'm hoping they'll be able to send them to me as they are my nicest maternity clothes.

Back to real life with a bump now! 32 weeks today!

I've still got 5 weeks of work left, so commuting to London but like Strawberryfield I've been quite lucky with getting a seat. I think perhaps commuters might be a bit more understanding than tourists?

I really need to start sorting out stuff for me, we've got most of the baby stuff we need although none of it has been assembled, but need to sort out big pants and maternity pads and stuff like that. And a hospital bag!

First NCT class tomorrow too!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 08/09/2014 16:11

Marks Spencer have few baby bargains online.

Petal26 · 08/09/2014 16:19

lady I did wonder if it was a bit late to get some more maternity gear from ASOS but I figured I've still got at least 9 weeks left and a few weeks after, they did have an extra 15% off the sale so I got 2 dresses for £22, one of which will be fine for feeding :-)

Feeling emotional too, lots to do around the house, stressing a little bit so cried a bit to DH this weekend a couple of times, he's telling me to stop stressing but I won't if it all gets sorted!
DD has moved bedrooms, new bed, new wardrobe, she's all sorted, now can paint and re-arrange nursery, getting there slowly.....

Busy day today, Mondays are errands and DD's swimming lesson, going to give my 4 weeks notice on her lessons, really felt sick today afterwards, it's hard getting changed and showered and everything else numerous times at the moment!

Bought a big job lot of Christmas presents too today, don't think I'll fancy doing it all in November/December. In Sainsburys they had Buckaroo/Twister/Giant Scrabble for £3.99 instead of £15ish so have sorted 6 of the nephews and nieces! :-)

FTMK · 08/09/2014 16:46

Sneaking back in- I've been lurking for a while but not posting. Everyone seems so organised. We've got loads to do and get. I'm vey emotional too - seems to be a bit of a hormonal thing plus I've just found out I've got GD so all my vague ideas about midwife led unit and active birth are out of the window as it's labour ward and probable induction at 38weeks at the moment. I've also had a hideous 24hr stomach bug over the weekend and my DP is away with work. We were meant to go and look at prams this weekend but I couldn't as I was so ill. Feel like we've got so much to do and not enough time to do it in now. Feeling thoroughly sorry for myself. Thanks for the tips about baby bargains and maternity sales online. Might have to go and online shop in an effort to get organised.

Annarose2014 · 08/09/2014 18:58

FTMK a colleague of mine had GD & had to be induced at 40+12!

So you might not have to go so early. Fingers crossed for you.

(though am starting to think that a specific arranged date sounds lovely!)

The woman in Boots refused to sell me Ranitidine today:
"Well we really recommend Gaviscon"
"Gaviscon is crap and isn't working, I've had Ranitidine before and it does" ".........Well we really do only recommend Gavison "

swallows urge to kill

haventgotaclue1 · 08/09/2014 19:23

blamber I've been advised by all my friends who have already been through this that the post birth pants HAVE to be granny pants, black, and cheap (as you just chuck them out after wearing them). TBH, I bought 2 packets of 4 in Primark (£2.50 a pack) on Saturday and there's no way I'd wear them in any other circumstances Grin - gave DH a right shock when I tried them on!!!

Re the sizing, I'm normally a size 10 / 12 and went for a 14-16 (they don't do 12-14...). Tried them on and they were ok, bearing in mind I still have 10 weeks to go so kind of figured that the extra 10 weeks minus the bump going down bit post birth would mean they'd be an ok size.

FTMK · 08/09/2014 19:44

Just writing granny pants on my furious list making! TY Annarose - term sounds fine, 38 seems too near! Although obv if bean needs to come early I'm not going to put him/her at risk by arguing. And induction seems like it might be long!!!!

misslaughalot · 08/09/2014 19:44

blamber as someone who has an EMCS first time round I'd definitely recommend granny pants as they came over my scar and kind of held things in rather than rubbing against anything. So comfy.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 08/09/2014 20:09

Same here miss after an elcs last time granny pants or whopper choppers as my now 22yr old brother called my mother's large pants from about 7yrs old!! I binned them after 6wks think mine were primark last time I just hate the city centre but may have to brave it when mat leave starts in Oct half term

ToniWol · 08/09/2014 20:55

May have to visit Primark myself for those - did get some undies the other day but was to replace one's I've thrown away so this will have to be in addition.

Started picking up stuff for my hospital bag today. Wilko's Maternity Pads - £1 for 10.

Petal26 · 08/09/2014 21:53

Is anyone being really strict on the '10 movements a day' from baby?
He is definitely not moving 10 separate times a day, quite chilled out, have got an anterior placenta so that might be why... Get a lot of action in the evenings when I finally get to sit down..

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 09/09/2014 08:13

Petal I haven't really tracked movements but obviously know when he is moving around I have a low lying placenta but now actually feel proper moving around with butt usually popping up followed by legs.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 09/09/2014 08:15

Next online clearance bit have some cute up to 1mth and up to 3mth xmas clothes I got an all in one and a top n tank top set for £15.50.

ladydolly · 09/09/2014 08:55

It would be easier to count when she doesn't move, such a little wriggler. I have an anterior placenta but baby is back to back so I have limbs sticking out all over the place for most of the day.

Of course it then makes me worry if I don't feel her for more than half an hour... never happy are we??
PETAL you just justified a little bit more shopping, I will need some post delivery not yet back in my normal clothes outfits :)

blamber · 09/09/2014 09:42

Thanks everyone. Granny pants it is!

Petal I've been tracking movement but don't see a pattern. I feel him almost every hour between 9 and 9. But it's different for everyone. Movements have changed too as he's getting bigger. I have anterior placenta too so it's difficult to understand how he's lying most of the time.

Commuters in the metro here always have their eyes on their phones and don't see me. Or they ignore me. I got offered a seat a few times and asked myself once but yesterday I just stood. My legs get so tired though! Must be all the extra weight. So will go back to asking.

blamber · 09/09/2014 09:43

Petal it's typical for you to feel movement more and baby to move more when you relax or lie down. So if you're busy during the day you'll feel it less.

Annarose2014 · 09/09/2014 10:13

Mine moves around a lot morning, goes completely quiet for the day, then starts up again around 9pm and gets very squirmy between midnight - 2am.

Everyone tells me this is indiciative of its sleeping pattern once born. Surely thats a load of bollocks? Babies sleep around the clock anyway!

Movements are now so subtle that I can't tell its position. For my last MW appt it was Breech but I knew it myself then. I have another MW appt tomorrow and am looking forward to seeing how its lying. Hope its not still Breech!

ladydolly · 09/09/2014 11:41

I'm really really hoping the movements being indicative of sleep pattern are true, she starts at about 5.30am (which is only about 30 minutes before I get up anyway) and stops at about 9pm. Wishful thinking perhaps!!!

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 09/09/2014 13:23

Spoke to dr today about this massive baby I'm meant to be having and she said if I'm not advised a cs when I have my 36 week scan but I'm still having a large baby I'm likely to be induced at 37/38 weeks.

I have moved my mat leave to start at the end of 36 weeks so I'm going to have to get organised! I do have my mat cover sorted now though which is a great relief and she will do a 3 week handover so at least I can go earlier if needed.

Had 3rd NCT session last night which was good, now a break of 10 days. We now have a whatsapp group so will stay in touch that way. At 33 I reckon I'm one of the younger ones! That's SW London for you!

Yesterday on the bus I was asked to give up my seat Grin I was so surprised that I did - had a Baby on Board badge and my bump is huge but the lady looked pretty hungoverill. Maybe I do have pregnancy glow!

hotfuzzra · 09/09/2014 15:55

I feel Donkey kick as soon as I wake which can be anytime from 5.30 to 11 (shifts, not lazy honest!) then anytime I'm sat down throughout the day. Kicking goes berserk about 6-9pm and again at bedtime between 10-1am.
Funny bugger!
The other night I spooned DH, after seeing something on here about it, so he got to feel Donkey's kicks v clearly. Sometimes when he just holds his hand over bump a kick might appear on t'other side. It was ace, he felt loads really clearly!
Last night we were just looking at bump and there was a mahoosive explosive kick reminiscent of Alien, and DH said "Err have you seen Alien?!"
First NCT on Thursday, can't wait. Went for a swim today (not a regular swimmer, I prefer jogging and cycling) and I was shocked how unfit/breathless I was!
I'm slightly less teary than I was last month or two, and feeling good. Hope everyone is well!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 09/09/2014 15:57

Husband hates feeling baby move freaks him out did with last pregnancy too :)

haventgotaclue1 · 09/09/2014 17:18

Petal I'm another member of the anterior placenta club and I am feeling a lot more kicks and rolls than I have done. BUT, if I've been running around at work all day, I don't tend to notice / feel them as much. It's when I've been sat at my desk for a whole, or I'm sitting down in the evening that bean makes its presence felt Grin.

Also tend to get a good ol' battering around 5 - 5.30am like ladydolly - again though, not too much earlier than I get up anyway.

Annarose2014 · 09/09/2014 19:16

Woah! Just had the oddest sensation! The baby did a slow deliberate 180 degree roll!

Quite uncomfortable actually - I wonder if it changed position? Oh how I wish I could see inside! I want to know what just happened!

haventgotaclue1 · 09/09/2014 19:43

I've had a few like that Annarose - really odd when you can actually see your bump wobbling and moving around like jelly on the plate Grin. "Worst" one of these happened when I was in the bath - almost caused a tidal wave!!! I haven't found the sensation painful, but just very strange!
