Hello Novemberrainbow - I'd spied you on the pregnancy board and wondered whether you'd wander over!
Hospital bag has arrived, just need to buy nappies and wash baby clothes then I'm ready to pack it. Aiming to get that done by 32 weeks. 30+4 today.

Hi Amy,
how many nappies are you planning on taking? I was think 10 for a standard stay and then having an extra bag packed for me and baby at home/ in car just Incase we need to stay longer.

I have a small wheelie case to take in, but have no idea what quantity to pack things in.

I have baby clothes in sizes up to 7.8lbs and upto 10lbs so was thinking 2 vest and sleepsuit sets of each? Plus hats etc.

Panicking about it all not being organised, as DH would be useless at finding anything if I forget or miss anything.

Will be exciting to see everyone updating when little ones are here. Doesn't feel like very long now.

Well - ordered my first reusable nappy yesterday. I got an offer e-mail through from Emma's Diary for a Miosolo and as that's the brand that I was interested in I took it up so I can get a look at the actual product.

NCT last night - all about labour and pain relief options. So was all good fun. Next weeks homework is to ask friends and relatives how they knew it was time to go into hospital - however I can't ask my Mum as she was in with both of us for weeks before due to high BP.

Having angst about my car seat base. I ordered a couple of weeks ago off an eBay seller, who said they were on holiday from the day I ordered it to today. Got the e-mail through this morning saying it had been dispatched, but then got a phone call asking if I'd received it as he'd left it in his garage to be collected by the courier who've said it's been delivered. Now - As the first day of his holiday was the Sunday I ordered it, and I didn't place the order 'til gone 9pm I'm unsure as to whether he's got confused as I think he did have a second one up. Especially as he's got good feedback. But to cover myself I sent a message via eBay stating when I bought it and confirming I didn't have it. So just waiting to hear back.

NHS Antenatal Class tonight - will have to see how different it is.

Hi ladies I'm excited to say after some serious lurking and getting some fabulous advice which kept me sane during months of bad hyperemesis I finally signed up!

30 weeks tomorrow with our first baby and I'm so excited! Everything is bought and my bags are almost all packed (too organised??)

Just can't wait to meet the little one!!
Hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to reading about your journeys over the next few weeks x

Toni - hope you manage to sort the car seat base out. Hopefully he's just confused you with another order.

Everyone who's using reusables it would be great if you could update when LO are here. I would like to start trying them after we're in some sort of routine, so it would great to hear how you all get on.

Excitedfor - You must be due the day after me, the 15th?
How many bags are you taking for hospital?
I think I may be packing too much Blush

Good lord I am an eating MACHINE these days. I can't stop myself. I eat all morning long. I appear to be obsessed with frozen strawberries/strawberry smoothies etc. at the moment. Have just made and downed a giant smoothie after a morning of mindless grazing. Ashamed Blush Anyone else?

I have been feeling really self-conscious about my pregnant body this time around and feeling like I'm huge. But yesterday I dug out my old notes from last time and I actually weigh a half-kilo less at 31 weeks than I did at 30 weeks last time around. But I'm nearly sure I didn't have a bump this big. It's all very strange. I'm going to ask the midwife at my next appointment what she thinks re. the baby's size.

I'm slowly getting organised. Ordered an online haul of new autumn/winter clothes for DD because she's fast growing out of her summer stuff and I don't want to have to think about new clothes for her once the baby's here. I have a suitcase full of stuff for hospital bag and early days which has yet to be sorted into an actual bag, but it's here at least. Washed the few newborn bits I hadn't given away, and a friend has promised me a haul of newborn stuff so that's great.

Left to do is order a co-sleeper cot. Seems VERY indulgent but after having looked at a friend's lovely one (and hearing about how restful her night feeds are), it might just be the business.

Hi everyone!

Twiglet I can't believe that happened to you twice! Definitely a good reason to stop hanging up laundry.

I'm going to aquanatal next week too! Looking forward to being in the water. I just hope it isn't too tiring and also that the water isn't too cold. I get cold easily and that hasn't changed much being pregnant. Very disappointing! :)

I've been reading up on cloth. I'm goin for a trial after baby is about 8 pounds. That's when you can use most nappies. No idea when that would be though. Few weeks?
I'll also buy a few individual ones that won't be in the trial pack. I want a mix of all in ones and two patters. The nappy lady recommended a few so I'll definitely try those. I'll post a list of the ones I liked when I get home!

The nappy lady also does trial packs, but I'm going for a local one as its cheaper.

I was thinking of doing lazy daisy classes but the woman said she stopped doing them. Well then get your details of their website! So now I'll just have to wing it, giving birth :)

Greenstone, not just you. I seem to need to graze constantly! I wouldn't worry about the bump size either, your muscles etc. just won't be as strong second time around, so it's understandable that you'd feel bigger this time around. I think as long as you're healthy, it's ok. But sometimes knowing that doesn't make you feel better, does it?! Thanks

Everyone keeps telling me my bump is too small, which I didn't think would bother me. But I went to MW yesterday and had a lot of hmms and ahhhs over my weight, which made me feel a bit nervousConfused She measured and I am measuring bang on the average centile line though, so am trying to stay positive; she did have the grace to realise I was a bit anxious and say she didn't see that there was cause to worry after she'd measured and everything seemed fine! As suspected, my BP has now settled to a new low of 80/40 but other than having to be careful getting down/up, am feeling fine again now so am taking her at her word.

Welcome aboard, November and excited! I am planning to have hospital bag packed by 36 weeks, am not really doing one big pack but am putting stuff in as I get hold of it. I am taking a bag for me with a separate little bag for Bean inside, so DP only has to grab the one thing if we end up in a rush!

Hello everyone
Another November baby due here, although I'm only 28+5. EDD Nov 24th, which my countdown app tells me is only 80 days away. It feels like I've got aaaaaaaages to go but I'm sure it'll fly by.
My main considerations at the mo are:

  1. I'm finishing work in 6 weeks (at 34 weeks) and cannot wait. Basically just counting down the shifts now! 25 left!!)
  2. We're in the process of buying a house and I'm getting seriously fidgety naggy about getting in now. Haven't even got a completion date which would be a massive goal to look at. I think we're close, put the offer in in June so hopefully before November.
  3. Consequently I've bought no clothes or equipment for Baby other than a little plush donkey (our nickname for our little kicker) toy with a little pull string lullaby thing. Have written a loose list for hospital bag but not yet bought anything.
  4. My best friend has kindly shown me around the car seat/pram world and I'm confident I know what I want so at least when we're moved in (or we haven't yet moved but we're close enough to need to buy stuff) I know what I'm getting.
  5. I signed up to NCT class in our soon to be new hometown, so hopefully even if we're not in when Donkey arrives, when we do move there I'll have some friends (someone desperate enough to want to talk to me too!)
Class starts next week and I'm quite excited.
Hope everyone is well and "enjoying" pregnancy. HA....!

Hello November and Excited!

For all those considering cloth nappies, it is worth checking with you local council if they have a nappy scheme as many councils offer a free trial pack of cloth nappies, or a money off voucher (£50 in some of the London boroughs) or just provide advice.

I'm in denial with the hospital bag, I've convinced myself she'll be late (there is no rational justification for this, just a hunch!) so will do this around 36 weeks...but maybe I should start pulling a few bits together just in case!

Greenstone - I am also an eating machine at the moment...although unfortunately not healthy smoothies, instead I've been hitting the hard stuff...cake+biscuits! Until now, I'd been really good at snacking on predominantly fruit+veg but now that just doesn't appeal in the same way as cake!

We've moved! Very exciting and all gone very very smoothly so far. The new house is tons bigger than the old one and we have our nursery room at last :-) just need to take a fitted wardrobe off the wall. The new neighbours seem really lovely and have been round to say hello.

Hello all newbies!!

Hi new posters :-)

Day off today, done 4 days at school this week, had a wobble on Wednesday when I got home, realised I was shaking and then when I sat down had a wave of exhaustion come over me from head to toe, really tried to take it easy today.

2 of the parents of children in my new class are pregnant and both overdue I think, I think I have a bigger bump than both of them which makes me feel great! Ha! Definitely feeling big and uncomfortable now, sure that's going to get worse!

DD's new bedroom has been painted, her new furniture is arriving tomorrow so hopefully she will move this weekend and then I can get into the nursery and organise myself in there, not ready at all yet. Got all the gear I think but nothing is in it's place!

November yes I'm due 15th! Wish it would hurry!
Currently I have 2 bags one for me and one for baby then I have baby's changing bag with nappies wipes etc but I think the hospital may think I'm moving in so considering doing a combined bag for labour/after birth and then leave one in the car in case we have to stay in!

It wouldn't be as bad if I knew roughly what size of clothes, iv got a small selection of tiny baby newborn and 0-3 packed! just invade! Is this abit crazy? Anyone any advice to pack lighter?

Greenstone I also can not stop eating! I'm constantly nibbling on biscuits and crisps and anything that slightly resembles junk food! I'm going to be a whale at this rate...

Been shopping today and got pram sorted. We have got the Mothercare Orb, maybe not the greatest but met our criteria of fitting in the car boot and turning from pram to parent-facing pushchair, and, more importantly, was cheap. We got it for nearly half price, as it was in the sale anyway and BIL works for Mothercare so got us an extra discount. Also, got new shoes for DD after trying 2 shops to find ones to fit her odd not the same size feet, narrowly avoiding the bright pink, sparkly, light-up ones that she loved. Still have to go to a city centre tomorrow to get her glasses after we were told on Wednesday that she needs them. Then we have to work out how to get a 3yr old, who is adamant she doesn't want glasses, to wear them all day everyday and not lose or break them.

Report
eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 05/09/2014 19:10

Happy maybe go for short stints with glasses initially and build up to all day you may find she is better with them than you think. May be have a sticker chart for wearing in morning til sanctions for 3 days then til lunchtime then sometime in afternoon then bedtime and have a little reward for every 3 days. ( I have had glasses since 4 n wore a patch).

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 05/09/2014 19:11

Also you can get children very sparkly pink straps for glasses if helps stop losing them :)

Hi November and excited Smile.

I was not impressed with aquanatal today after all my excitement- I arrived to be told I couldn't attend unless referred by a local midwife as it is a class specifically to help control weight in pregnancy if necessary. I phoned earlier this week and was told anyone could go so I was a bit Hmm at that. Then I discovered I had a parking ticket because although it was an hours free parking, I hadn't read the bit about displaying a ticket on the sign. Grr!

Had our second NCT class last night, nice to chat to other newbies Smile. How is everyone else finding antenatal classes so far?

Report
blamber · 05/09/2014 21:02

Barmy that's ridiculous! It's important to stay fit and healthy in pregnancy no matter what your weight. Sorry you weren't able to go.

barmybunting · 05/09/2014 21:25

That was what I thought Blamber! The local one here is like that, which I knew about, hence phoning to check about this one. Oh well!

That's ludicrous barmy!

I've spent most of today feeling like I'm getting braxton hicks, but barely had anything till almost full term last time. Either this is just the way of it with dc2, or this one's seriously keen. Damn uncomfortable though.

Also we have a wedding to go to tomorrow and I have no idea what I'll wear. Normally I have full outfit planned weeks in advance!

Report
excitedforbaba · 05/09/2014 23:15

Gosh barmy not so good!
I start my first antenatal classes next week! Really looking forward to them although I am afraid they will start the nerves kicking in about labour :/

Utopian I had a wedding a few weeks ago and decided my outfit about an hour before we left the house! Had to change my shoes after the church though... They were aching in pretty wedge sandals!

Vicky5910 · 05/09/2014 23:19

Thanks other teachers! After two days I feel like I'm getting back into the stride of it and I'm not too worried. Although I am so tired by 6pm I keep falling asleep.

Utopian early BH are common 2nd time round. I get them daily!

How are everyone's movements? I'm getting the bigger rolling ones now, felt a whole leg pass from left to right earlier today. My whole bump moved with it! So cool!

vicky I'm lying in bed currently watching my whole belly doing waves! Baby is usually very active at this time of night!

Managed to get a video on my phone of some part of baby actually lifting up the skin of my side! Could lie for hours watching it...

Although I have to say something of its wee kicks really bloody hurt now!

Finding it more difficult to sleep and bean is definitely making it's presence felt - lots of rolling like vicky which is great to know it's ok and having a stretch but not sure about another 10 weeks of this. ...
