amy83firsttimer · 28/09/2014 15:29

I've started the tea, one or two cups a day at the moment. Will up that after 37 weeks I reckon.

Baby didn't seem fussed either way by the punk - think its music taste may not match its parents'. Hmm. Not sure I approve!

Vicky glad all okay.

Just got in from tour of MLU. Useful for little things like parking rules, where buzzers on doors are etc. Found a fiver on the pavement on way in so spent it on cakes with DH on way back to car. Definitely a good omen not that I believe in that sort of thing oh no

Kantha · 28/09/2014 16:28

Glad all is well with the baby Vicky.

Don't think I will bother with raspberry leaf tea this time. I drank it with DC1 and went very overdue. With DC2 I didn't bother as it tastes vile. I did haw a few acupuncture sessions in the last few weeks and had a very easy delivery. I have no idea if the two were linked, but I think I will call up the local acupuncture place this week and make an appointment. There's a lot to be said for doing things that you have confidence in.

I wouldn't say that my hospital bag is packed, but I have got a bag out and chucked a few bits in it. I have also got to a point where I feel that if I had to go to the hospital in a rush the rest of the stuff is now in the house and could quickly be put in the bag. I have just done the same for both boys in case they need to go to friends' overnight.

I must not have this baby this week though! Both sets of GPs are abroad this week, and DH has to go to Paris for a day on Tuesday. I am only 35 weeks and haven't had a prem baby before so it should be very unlikely... Grin

Hopeful83 · 28/09/2014 17:05

Glad everything is ok Vicky Smile

I'm drinking 2 cups of raspberry leaf tea each day. Going to up it to 3 soon. I'm 35 weeks on Tuesday. Not sure if it'll do anything but thought it was worth a try

Petal26 · 28/09/2014 18:23

Not sure about raspberry leaf tea, didn't try it last time and had a VERY long labour so might do a bit of research. Anything that will help tone uterus and speed things up might be worth a go!

Had DH up the attic, got down Moses basket, baby rocker, car seat and base, box of newborn clothes, box of 0-3 clothes, pink carrycot for pram (need to sell, no good for a boy!), cot mobile.... Time to wash and clean everything now!
It looks like there are a few things that can be used for a boy, lots of pink though! Not getting rid of anything until I see this baby, I can just see myself being one of those mums that has a girl after being told it was a boy Smile
Opened one box and got a whiff of baby, not long now!
Going to make an attempt on hospital bags tomorrow too...

Annarose2014 · 28/09/2014 19:08

Got a Graco travel cot for the kitchen - didn't get the bells and whistles after all cos the regular one was almost half price in a sale and I'd have been essentially paying 60 quid for a vibrating mattress! Shock

Also splurged on a fleece Star Wrap from Tuppence & Crumble - stupidly excited for that to arrive!

pinkgirlythoughts · 28/09/2014 19:32

Aww I have a star wrap- they're so unbelievably cute!

utopian99 · 28/09/2014 20:23

We have one for the smallest size and one the next up. Gorgeous, snuggly and damn useful in winter - ds lived in his for months!

I got the smallest size.....hopefully I don't have a monster baby and it'll fit! I got it in Orange as it looked quite funky and cool.

Also cos its gender neutral & "Hmmmmm.....80% boy I'd say....I think......^" leaves it a bit open!

WorkFreeWannabe · 29/09/2014 08:27

Morning ladies

Been lurking the last few weeks as Ive been too tired to do anything!! I'm off work today so thought I'd have a massive catch up. Gosh this thread has sprinted on - I think this is the fastest moving one we've had!

I'm glad those of you with movement issues had had yourselves checked out and everything is ok Thanks.

Nursey furniture is arriving today and I'm thoroughly excited as it means I can start washing and packing/organising etc, although my DB can't put it together until the weekend Hmm. Sadly I don't trust DH's lack of DIY skills to manage that task.

Had a lovely baby shower on Saturday. I am massively overwhelmed with everyone's generosity. NOW I finally feel ready as it's starting to come together - had a massive cry when I realised how much effort everyone had made.

Stupidly slept on my back last night so today my lower back is in agony as well as my hips. Will have to stretch out fully later.

Only 4 days left of work after today. Friday can't come quick enough so I can laze around like a beached whale watching Scandal and Netflix for the next 6 weeks.

I wonder which one of us will be first to pop. Can't wait for the first baby to make it's appearance.

WorkFreeWannabe · 29/09/2014 09:38

Just spotted online that Mothercare are having a FREE Expectant Parent Event in selected stores.

I spoke to a lady at my nearest store who seemed to think you didn't need to book and could bring as many people as you want (although the system only let's you book 2 tickets at a time) I simply clicked back and booked a second set for Grandparents

Annarose2014 · 29/09/2014 09:42

I've been having a ton of hiccups low down in my lower stomach. And lots of manic kicks above my belly button. I hope that means baby has turned! I find it hard to tell where it is at the mo.

pinkgirlythoughts · 29/09/2014 09:48

I'm off work today as I've been feeling bloody rotten all weekend, every time I eat anything I feel sick (so I've hardly eaten), then last night after I'd managed a bit of dinner I was sick, and I can't stop bloody sleeping- around ten hours on Saturday night, plus two day time naps on Sunday, and I was still ready to drop by 7pm that night! Phoned midwives as I read online that sudden nausea or vomiting in late pregnancy can be a sign of pre-eclampsia, but she didn't seem especially bothered, and wouldn't let me go in to be seen :( Baby is still wriggling around though, which is reassuring.

DH wants me to go to the doctor's today to get signed off work, but to be honest, I don't know what I'd say to them- seems a bit wimpy saying I don't want to go to work because I'm too tired! Also you wait so long for a bloody appointment at my doctors I may as well just wait til my maternity leave starts anyway- I finish on October 10th!

WorkFreeWannabe · 29/09/2014 10:20

Will do shortly Anna, too lazy to get the laptop out

I agree with your DH Pink. Everyone has told me to get signed off for my last week as I've felt exactly the same. Constant nausea and heartburn in the middle if the night. It's not uncommon to feel so crap, so go for it. Nothing to feel wimpy about

TwigletFiend · 29/09/2014 11:13

Good morning, all.

Well after much consultation with the MW, it turns out Bean has dropped this weekend, hence the muffled movements. General consensus is that he/she could float back up to the top of my abdomen still as am only 33+1, but is unlikely. On the plus side, my lungs feel less compressed. On the negative, riding is now becoming extremely tricky and quite hard work on the wreckage of my abdominals. Have agreed with DP that I will start to ease off now and am aiming to only ride once a week, if possible.

Glad everyone else's movement worries were eased too Smile

pink, how miserable Sad I'm voting with the 'get signed off' club too - if you're feeling horrid, your work will suffer anyway.

Anna, crossing my fingers for you that baby has turned! I find the belly mapping really hard too, no idea which way Bean is lying frankly. Hopefully head down now that its apparently moving into my pelvis... Confused

WorkFree, nice to see you back. Hope your tiredness eases today, get plenty of rest and keep those feet up!

Petal, not sure if it's relevant at all but on the stud I used to work at, we fed the broodmares raspberry leaves from 3 months before their EDD right up until a month after birth and our vets always seemed really keen on the results - very rarely had to give an oxy injection post-birth to help them flush out, which is quite a common necessity with horses due to their anatomy. I'm going on the theory that it probably won't hurt, so why not give it a go Grin Luckily I don't mind the taste of the tea, so will be happily guzzling that in a couple of weeks time.

keepon, welcome to the thread! Don't forget to add yourself to the list Smile

bunnykitten · 29/09/2014 12:00

I've had to call in sick today at work, everything hurts. I think I just overdid it with too much stuff at the weekend but I feel really bad for missing a day when they are so busy.

moggle I did get to both the breastfeeding class on Thursday and the active labour one on Saturday, so I should be able to work out who you are, but my headache has frazzled me. I was the one who asked about water births. Thinking about it, I may have swapped numbers with you at the end?! If so, my name begins with a C and I think yours begins with a R?

Back to bed for me :o(

bunnykitten · 29/09/2014 12:01

Oops! That was meant to be a sad, self-pitying face!!!!

Annarose2014 · 29/09/2014 12:06

Delighted its dropped Twiglet!

Also agree you need to get signed off pink. Your body is telling you what it needs to do. Phone the surgery and ask if they can do you up a sick note to pick up - you mightn't even need to be seen if its just going on mat leave early.

Vicky5910 · 29/09/2014 13:03

Another one here who called in sick today. Hope everyone is resting! I've had a sleep and a bath :)
Not liking the return of the muggy warm weather! Is it annoying anyone else? It's practically October, where's the cold?!

moggle · 29/09/2014 13:35

Haha bunnykitten yes that was me, R!! Very funny :-) at least now I don't need to wonder whether I should be stalkerish and PM you on here to get contact details. We will have to meet up the three of us soon. When are you going on maternity leave? My last day is October 16th, decided I wanted a good few weeks off before the due date.

DH had his last big 'boys night out' on Saturday, he was feeling rather sorry for himself on Sunday with a hangover but I was still mean and dragged him to John Lewis for one last look at the pushchair before I order it this week. I went over to my parents for Saturday night and when I came back it was to a lounge full of baby stuff thanks to one of DH's mates who had brought loads of stuff for us, including a car seat and base, at least now I know we can bring the baby home! Also a bunch of unisex ish things that their DS had when he was tiny, he was a December baby so some lovely snowsuits and a Gap pramsuit thingy in particular that look almost brand new. He says there's more to come once the baby's here and we know the sex. There's some kind of swing thing as well and a load of bedding and gro-bags too. eek!

Sorry lots of you are feeling rotten :-( I seem to (luckily) alternate a terrible night's sleep with a decent night at the moment, so on the whole I am feeling OK. Vicky I totally agree with you re the weather! I bought some bargainous mat tops for the cooler weather and at this rate I won't get to use them at all!

ladydolly · 29/09/2014 13:51

I had a 'sick' day on Saturday, after working 12 hours a day for the last week when it came to the weekend I couldn't get myself out of bed. I was just so tired, I couldn't even make my brain function. Felt ok by Sunday but then DP was so hungover he couldn't help me with all the jobs I wanted to get done. I did manage to do a load of Christmas shopping online though so at least I achieved something other some expert napping practice.

Definitely ready for Autumn/winter. I'm still sleeping with the patio doors open to the bedroom.

Midwife appt later, my braxton hicks are now accompanied by low belly cramp and occasional back ache so going to ask her about that - does anyone else get them with pain?

WorkFreeWannabe · 29/09/2014 14:04

Hope you feel better soon Vicky!

Mine are the same Lady. Sometimes I get a sharp shooting pain very low down and some back ache which totally stops me in my tracks! I have a Consultant appointment at the end of next week so I'll have to wait til then for answers.
