Afternoon, ladies. Hop, flop or otherwise clamber aboard! Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mumonabroom · 27/09/2014 11:54

Petal26 cake never frowned upon, whatever the hour Smile

Mumonabroom · 27/09/2014 11:56

Twiglet any news?

Annarose2014 · 27/09/2014 12:12

Twiglet I'm sure its ok. Good to get reassurance though.

This morning my DH told me that he was worried about future shagging in case it brings the baby on! I told him that if I thought I would have to go through the next 6 weeks without a shag I'd go spare! Grin

Feel so fat and achey and heartburny and sweaty that tbh I'm not exactly ravenous these days. But dammit, when the mood does strike me I want to be able to do it!!!

Petal26 · 27/09/2014 14:23

Managed to get another hour and half of sleep before DD woke me up at least! Felt a bit sick when I woke up so maybe cake wasn't a good idea!

anna have you got heartburn tablets? I have a prescription from the GP, wouldn't have felt like eating for the last few months without them.

DH tried his luck last night but after 3 long days at school I fell asleep mid cuddle Blush, i'm sure he'll try again later!

Vicky5910 · 27/09/2014 14:29

Hi ladies, huge sympathies for those suffering! I'm another worrying about movement today. Hope all is OK twiglet!
I'm not able to try usual tricks (cold drink and a lay down) as it's DH's birthday and he's insisting on being out. I'll be waiting for some wriggles over the course of the afternoon though.
Petal I hope you get some rest today!

blamber · 27/09/2014 18:24

I hope everyone who was worried about movement got themselves checked out and that everything turned out to be fine!

I'm really disappointed about the parentcraft lessons where I am. I'm sure online it said they do them, but only last week, after I asked, the midwife said they don't! The children's centre do a workshop instead, but I received the info today and it's during office hours, so my boyfriend can't come! I chose not to do the nct ones as I thought the nhs ones would be sufficient, but now I wish I had. I want my boyfriend to be informed too, so now I'll just have to tell him stuff or we'll have to get a book or something.

I also hope I won't be too late for the workshop as it runs in blocks of four weeks. Why did no one tell me about this before? So annoying.

Annarose2014 · 27/09/2014 18:50

Thats bloody annoying. At any rate get (broken record here) Pregnancy For Men. Brilliant book, not just for blokes! Our Bible.

haventgotaclue1 · 27/09/2014 19:12

Must be the day for decrease / non existent movements Sad. Had a rather eventful very early morning: Bean had been much quieter than normal Friday evening; had absolutely no movement at all during the night when I got up twice to go to the loo (it ALWAYS gives me a bashing when I get up); tried the cold drink / moving around stuff....nothing.

Got to 5.30am and decided to call the 24hour number. Was told to go straight into hospital where they were absolutely brilliant - so understanding, caring and re-assuring.

Anyway, upshot is that Bean's fine Smile - heart beat all OK, but did have to eat a bit to get it doing "enough" movements. I recognised one of the MWs from OBEM (which made me Grin) - who was a bit surprised about how "neat" (aka small!) bump looked; she measure it - spot on for 32 weeks...then she asked me how tall I am - 5'11"..."ahhhh, that'll explain it!"

Really hoping for a better night tonight - I need sleep!!!

Twiglet and Vicky hope your beans are ok and letting you know they're all ok Smile

ToniWol · 27/09/2014 20:50

Hope everyone's worries have been solved.

blamber - the teacher at our NCT class had these DVDs to borrow, and the couples who borrowed them said they were very useful for the practical things, so DH and I are planning on buying them.

We've been to a Nearly New Sale today and picked up some pictures for the Nursery, a bath and a top and tail bowl, and a pregnancy pillow for me. All for just over a tenner, so not a bad day in all.

Vicky5910 · 27/09/2014 21:41

Just got home and sat still, and had a few hefty kicks and wriggles :) I'll be keeping an eye though, quiet day times aren't at all the norm here!

Vicky5910 · 27/09/2014 21:42

Oooh Toni I'm looking for a bargain pregnancy pillow too, I'm going to have to try some of there nearly new sales!

amy83firsttimer · 28/09/2014 00:26

I took bump to a small punk gig tonight, saw loads of people who I've not seen since I developed a bump. Fun times had, DH went to different gig and is tipsy and appears to be falling asleep half way through stealing one of my alcohol free beers. It's amazing how much more like me going out made me feel, it's not easy to dress punk in maternity clothes but I no longer feel like a pregnant frump plus some of my mates have bigger bellies than mine and their's are all beer and pies

Vicky5910 · 28/09/2014 02:50

After an hour of laying in bed thinking baby's movements were still a little off, I got up to drink a cold drink and eat cake. Movements have been a bit weird all day. Baby is now doing a huge dance.
I dot have to worry anymore right? After a big wriggle for quite a while?

amy83firsttimer · 28/09/2014 07:15

If you're struggling to work out what's normal / reduced download the "count the kicks" app. You can use it to track. Don't forget baby sleeps in bursts of up to 90 mins so probably Ok but if actually reduced check it out.

Vicky5910 · 28/09/2014 08:43

I'm sure the baby is moving less and has done for the last 24 hours, so I'm going in for monitoring. Sure it's nothing, had a few kicks today, but things aren't quite right.

amy83firsttimer · 28/09/2014 09:02

You're doing the right thing. Let us know how you get on. X

moggle · 28/09/2014 09:18

Sorry to hear our little passengers are causing quite a few of us worry- though obviously glad that so far everything is fine. I will be thankful for my little kung fu expert chopping and kicking in there.

I've had two antenatal classes this week- breastfeeding on Thursday (hi bunnykitten if you were there!), and 'active birth' class yesterday with DH which went through loads of stuff and gave us a tour of the labour and postnatal wards too. Unfortunately not the birth centre which I'm hoping to use though. But been really pleased with all the midwives' attitude towards bf, pain relief options, positioning, etc. so I'm feeling hopeful that I have a good chance of having the birth I want and can trust the midwives to help us make decisions along the way.
DH is so excited now :-D he's going to a dads only class on Tuesday!

Annarose2014 · 28/09/2014 10:03

I'm getting paranoid about kicks now! Though it seems to be fine so far....God will this waiting ever be over!

I'm so relieved that I'll be one of the first to go! My nerves are shredded! 35 weeks tomorrow.......

What are we all going to do about Raspberry Leaf tea? I think I'll start from some time next week. I think 35/36 weeks is when most people start. I heard the tea is rank, and I also heard that the Holland & Barrett capsules aren't as good as the ones you get in the independant health food shops, (though that could be bollocks.)

Going out to buy a Travel Cot today for our kitchen as its miles away from the bedroom and we have a small dog. So baby must be kept safe. Going to get the Graco one with all the bells and whistles.

.........I used to fantastise about handbags and now its cot accessories! Grin

Vicky5910 · 28/09/2014 11:00

Baby is moving and seems fine. The chance in movements is because the baby has moved from oblique to head down and engaged! I'm 31 weeks so that's a bit of a shock!
Because I'm having tightenings and some lower back pain, they want me to see a doctor. But it's probably going to take ages for that.
DH suddenly very aware we need to start getting ready for baby now. It's a bit of a wake up call for him, he's been very relaxed and away with fairies so far!

blamber · 28/09/2014 11:45

Vicky what a relief that the baby is fine! Mine has been head down since 28 weeks, but not engaged. They do drift in and out of that at this stage (sometimes I feel great pressure really low down) but I guess with your tightenings it's best to keep an eye on it. Hopefully the doctor will be able to reassure you. Good that it's making your dh spring into action though!

Anna, I think some start it earlier but you build it up slowly. Not heard about h&b capsules not being as good. I'm not sure if I'll start taking any. I didn't think there was proof it works? But loads of women seem to be taking it.

Amy, it is great to be able to keep doing things you love! Did the baby enjoy the music?

Thanks for the suggestions about pregnancy/ baby info. I think the DVD would be really useful, my boyfriend isn't much of a book reader.

haventgotaclue1 · 28/09/2014 12:09

Vicky really glad you got checked out and bean is ok. Don't know what experience you had, but when I went in for monitoring yesterday they were really pleased that I'd gone in and everything was okay rather than me sitting at home worrying.

Vicky5910 · 28/09/2014 13:03

They were really nice haventgotaclue I didn't feel in the way at all :) and they were quick! X

ToniWol · 28/09/2014 15:06

Vicky - glad baby was okay.

Nearly New Sale no. 2 today. Got a bundle of unisex stuff plus another pram suit and sleeping bag. Think we're probably about there now.

And just seen on the Active Thread list - the October Post-Natal thread has started Shock.

utopian99 · 28/09/2014 15:07

Not 100% sure raspberry leaf tea will cause things to happen on time having taken it last time and gone 12 days over, but it does help with the labor process going smoothly. I had a 6 - hour labour with ds which I largely attribute to accupuncture but was also taking vast amounts of raspberry leaf tea capsules.
Started at 32 weeks with 2 a day, then 4 a day from 36 weeks, and 6 a day from due date on. Got them from our local health food place so no idea if h&b are any different though...

Annarose2014 · 28/09/2014 15:21

Yes I don't think it brings it on so much as makes it turbo.

My healthfood shop only had the tea so I'll end up going to H&B after all!
