Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CraziesTogether · 23/09/2014 11:55

twiglet I am exhausted reading about your routine!

I am in the 'working til the bitter end' club, planning to stop at 38/9 weeks.

Last week was awful, felt rough and thought I would rather go sick than work another 5 weeks, but this week I'm back to feeling ok (apart from exhaustion).

Will I ever wake up feeling refreshed ever again..? I feel not :(

weeonion you definitely make me feel like a complete wuss, hats off for getting through the last few days without a breakdown.

It's scary how many babies/labours have kicked off on the October thread....not long now until we see some action too now! Grin

ladydolly · 23/09/2014 14:41

I think you ladies are troopers! With the DC’s and the commutes and long shifts and horses and car trouble and general business on top of work!! I feel a bit better that everyone else is feeling the physical effects, I feel like such a wimp when I can’t get round the supermarket anymore. We’re at the busiest time of year at work as well as doing my mat leave handover. I have to work in the evenings to keep up so I think I’ll lower my expectations to just work and my daily swim. If I manage anything over and above that then I’ll consider it a very successful day!

It won’t be long until the 1st one arrives, I wonder how many of us left on the thread, just to see statistically what we should expect! How many early ones, how many will likely go over, did we end up with any twins? I’m one of the earliest due but I bet I’ll hit in the middle for arrivals. Although people keep telling me they don’t think I’ll make the end because I’m so huge. (I’m really not! I’m measuring dead on the 50% line!)

It seems like 5 minutes ago we were discussing who was showing a bump yet and when we were going to tell people and getting to that all-important 12 week mark. And now we’re on the final countdown!

Annarose2014 · 23/09/2014 15:42

There were one set of twins early on I think.....

Just back from breastfeeding workshop. I highly recommend looking into doing one - I feel a bit better about it now. She taught us a lot. We were all first timers so everyone was asking stupid questions!

Oh and she told us to practise hand expressing in the shower from Week 39. No earlier as it can trigger labour, but she says if you can express a few drops post-birth just so that it wets your nipple it makes the first feed so much easier, as baby can smell it and goes hell for leather. Grin

Annarose2014 · 23/09/2014 15:47

Crazies be careful about stopping too late - a girl I know stopped on the Friday of her 38th week and went into labour that weekend! She said she was knackered throughout the labour cos she hadn't yet wound down from work. And then was knackered with a new baby! She was quite resentful that she hadn't had any time off at all.

CraziesTogether · 23/09/2014 16:33

Thanks Anna....that's a good point!

I am pushing my luck I know, but fortunately I can work at home a few days a week once the majority of my handover is done so il be winding down probably from about week 37 (and I sit on my backside all day apart from making tea). I'm hoping that will be enough to chill me out a bit before baby arrives without the boredom setting in.

I think if I suddenly start to struggle I will have to change my plans and stop working sooner.

What does everyone do with their time off? I find it more exhausting to be at home as I find myself doing things like ironing....urghhh!

Annarose2014 · 23/09/2014 17:00

I cannot believe all I'm finding to do. Blame nesting, lol!

hotfuzzra · 23/09/2014 17:04

I'm only 31 weeks and today I struggled walking into town (10 mins!!) and had to lean against the bank counter - I just avoided having to sit down for a break!
I had just walked the dogs for 25 mins so not totally lazy/unfit.
Got my 31 wk MW appt tomorrow, hope to swim in the afternoon, then back to work Thursday for my last four shifts WAHOO!!!! I'm really lucky to be able to finish so early. We are hoping to move house in the next month and I know I wouldn't be able to pack and move whilst at work.
I'm not due until 24th so I may well go way over into December :-(

weeonion · 23/09/2014 17:30

I have consultant appt in morning and growth scan. No real reason - just checking due to my age. Last time baby was transverse so they were all......ooooh, no homebirth etc.

I know there will be induction chat ahoy but not going to engage with it at all. If they start on that, i think i will either give a rigoured grin with blank eyes or a dead eye school marm stare (that one puts the pure heebie-jeebies up DP). The consultant is v nice but they want me booked in ON DUE DATE for induction. No other reason than my age. Plus i think i am due 5th nov, not 25th oct so shall see.

DD will be there for the scan part. She hasn't seen one yet and is v excited. X

pinkgirlythoughts · 23/09/2014 18:06

Do we really have to have the whooping cough jab by 34 weeks? I've only seen a midwife three times so far in this pregnancy, it was mentioned that they do recommend it at the booking in appointment, and that they would discuss it with me later, and then it's never been mentioned again. I don't have my next appointment until I'm almost 35 weeks, so don't want to have missed the boat on it!

WinterLover · 23/09/2014 18:30

Shall we start a new stats list?

WinterLover - 4th November DC2 suprise (DS born 36 weeks)

WinterLover · 23/09/2014 18:31

pink I think its recommended by then but my leaflet sats they will do it later. I had to book in at the doctors for mine not the midwife

utopian99 · 23/09/2014 18:35

Bugger bloody phone ate my post!

pink your gp gives the jab so just call and arrange..

weeoinion I'm planning on giving the gimlet eye as well - our family always go way overdue but that being said, by the time ds was 12 days over I was pretty much ready to bite the bullet out of sheer frustration and annoyance with everyone asking!

twiglet my boobs barely grew before the birth with ds then ballooned when my milk came in at 3 days post birth. Dh was Shock and Grin. It was sad when they went back to normal a year later though - over less than five days. I'm secretly ratherlookingforward to getting yhthem back!

pink I was told you can have the jab right up to full term - it'll still have some effect.

I'm going to a breastfeeding workshop on Thursday morning, can't wait! And then we have our first antenatal class (a hospital one) on Saturday, DH is really excited about it which is nice.

Just listened to my natal hypnotherapy birth prep for the first time. Slightly ruined by cat jumping on me from the windowsill halfway through and sending my heart rate through the roof!!!

hotfuzzra mine always does. (hypno cd) as do the self hypnosis exercises i do for in flight turbulence.. Didn't send me to sleep in labour - that would have been pretty impressive - but did give me a nice chilled feeling for most of the first phase. Smile
