Afternoon, ladies. Hop, flop or otherwise clamber aboard! Grin

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Vicky5910 · 22/09/2014 16:32

I'm 31 weeks annarose. I shocked myself today to be honest at how tiring I found just going in and being there for an hour. I thought I was coping well and that the week off had done me some good! I feel a bit lost now.

Annarose2014 · 22/09/2014 16:42

I finished at the end of 31 weeks. It helped a lot.

I've gotten worse since. I've gotten a lot bigger, and I have a lot of groin pain that I didn't really have back then. I'm also not able to physically do as much as I could at 31 weeks. Walking is an effort. Everything has to be done slowly. I didn't realise how it all escalates. I was a bit embarressed going off at the end of 31 weeks - I was justifying it to everyone. But now I don't know how people stay! Maybe desk jobs....I dunno.

Vicky5910 · 22/09/2014 17:36

Thanks for that. I don't know why there's a stigma about finishing early. I don't want to start my mat leave though. My issue is that they aren't supporting me and I wouldn't feel so rubbish if I felt like they were on my side and reducing my workload.
I will get signed off properly if things don't improve, and I won't feel guilty!

bunnykitten · 22/09/2014 18:27

Talking of work, I've had a busy and stressful few days at work, preparing for a couple of presentations I had/have to give and my half year appraisal. It is a desk job and lots of people don't start mat leave here until 38/39 weeks, so I was considered a wuss for wanting to start it by 37 weeks! And right now, that still feels too late. I'm lucky that I can work from home a couple of days a week Smile

bunnykitten · 22/09/2014 18:30

Vicky at my workplace if you go on sick leave in the last few weeks before you are due, mat leave automatically starts instead. Not sure if that's normal though?

Vicky5910 · 22/09/2014 18:39

It is normal, at 36 weeks you can be forced to take mat leave when you are off sick. I'm going at 35 anyway so don't have to worry about that :) can't happen soon enough!

weeonion · 22/09/2014 18:41

Vicky - not sure but i think from 30 weeks, if you go on sick leave related to pregnancy - it triggers your mat leave??

Like others - i am finding it both physically and emotionally tough. Took today off to sort out car, walked bloody miles between car dealerships trying to buy hub cap key to no avail. I felt like laying down on floor and tantruming in last place when smargy older receptionist looked at bump and say "i was doing aerobics up to 9 months". Car still not fixed. Gave up in the end....

Not long to go for all of us folks..... We are so nearly there and then whole new phase starts in our lives....
:-(

WinterLover · 22/09/2014 18:44

vicky you should be able to. I was signed off untill 36 wks with DS and that's when SMP automatically starts if your off sick.

DS has a chest infection, so hes got antibiotics and an inhaler. He's not been properly ill since this exact same week last year. Definately a back to nursery bug. Hes not much different in himself but hes definitely sitting down more, he was struggling to breathe at the doctors Sad DP has asthma as does his half sister so apparently chances are he'll have it too

WinterLover · 22/09/2014 18:45

Re work, I finished mid June due to them reducing and reducing my hours. There's no way id be coping at work now

weeonion · 22/09/2014 18:57

That should have been :-) not :-(

amy83firsttimer · 22/09/2014 19:38

Hard day at work here too. Well, it was fine til about the last hour or so. If I could finish at 4 and beat the rush hour I'd be a happy bunny but it won't happen this week as we've someone on holiday. Next week I'm doing 4 days then that's be done. 8 days left. Wahoo!!!

Gingerelle · 22/09/2014 19:47

Sorry to hear about poorly ds' s and struggling mums. im definitely struggling more now. last time I finished work at 35 weeks which felt just about manageable but this time will be working (4 days, lots of driving) till 37 weeks which adding in a toddler is feeling pretty unmanageable. I feel massive already and getting loads of back pain.

definitely in support of those going off early whether planned or via sick leave - work is just too hard now Sad

Petal26 · 22/09/2014 21:08

weeonion Hooe you get the cat sorted, sounds like a right stress!

Had my whooping cough jab today, rushed to get it this week, think they said before 34 weeks? (33+1 today)
Arm not aching yet, fingers crossed I've avoided that...

I finished work at this stage last time, was doing supply work at a special needs pre-school where the children would hit out unexpectedly so the managers weren't happy with me staying on longer.

Have been told they are advertising my cover this week with a closing date of the 30th and interviews and start date ASAP so have still got a couple of weeks left. My mind tells me I can keep going until half term when I would be 38 weeks but my body is giving in, feel so weak!

DD's swimming lesson today, they had moved the lessons around without telling us so arrived and ended up in a lesson with younger children.... Grrr....
DD chose a toy for her to give to baby afterwards at a toy shop, multi sensory panda blanket thingy, kept telling her it won't be long now, he's nearly ready, repeating it to myself as well!!

Petal26 · 22/09/2014 21:09

Hope you get the car sorted not cat!

moggle · 22/09/2014 21:36

Hiya, just thought I'd check in and say hi. Shame they closed the other FB group, kept meaning to join in but then same as others wasn't quite sure. Gingerelle thanks for setting up another, if I ever make my mind up I will pm you :-)
Getting so tired and feel huge now. Can't believe what a change just in the past 4 weeks really.
We're settled in the new house and I've started a prenatal Pilates class near home. Need to get on and sort the nursery- DH and our friend ripped out the big bulky fitted furniture yesterday and unfortunately the carpet and decorating was obviously done around it, so we are going to have to quite a bit more work on it than we'd anticipated. Ah well, nothing too expensive though I don't think and it will be lovely to have everything nice and fresh in there for the baby.

Finally started buying some bits for the baby (vests...) and for me (maternity pads, arnica cream so far...) I feel so disorganised!! Ah well. Shops will still be open after the baby's born eh...

weeonion that all sounds like a nightmare. Really shocked that the recovery co weren't more helpful :-( xxx

WinterLover · 22/09/2014 21:48

Petal I had my jab the other week and although it was sore for a couple of days its not bothered me at all, and no side effects

Petal26 · 22/09/2014 22:29

winter I spoke too soon, it's starting to ache now!

weeonion · 22/09/2014 22:47

Petal - my left arm (jag arm) did ache for about a week - mainly at night which as fun given w are meant to be sleeping on our left sides. went after about a week.

my braxton hicks are really strong tonight - had to pause a few times and catch a breath!

moggle - glad the house move is over. well i impressed by all of you that are coping with house moves / renovations / building work etc!!

WinterLover · 23/09/2014 06:58

Woohoo I've made it to 34 weeks Grin Feeling sooooo much more relaxed now! One more week and the consultant will be happy. After the past couple of weeks im suprised Ive got this far.

Nice snuggly day with DS again, at least its a good excuse to put my feet up Wink

Kantha · 23/09/2014 07:07

My arm didn't ache on the day of the jab until I sat down in the evening and stopped moving around. It probably only lasted 3 days for me.

Winter - well done on making it to 34 weeks. I can't remember (sorry) why this was a milestone for you?

Poorly DS kept his food down yesterday and has declared himself better this morning Smile. Off to see the MW for us, and then an attempt to get some decent nursing bras in JoJo Maman Bebe with a 3 and 3/4 year old in tow. Trying to think of suitable bribes.

WinterLover · 23/09/2014 07:38

Kantha its nothing serious, I had my sod at 36 weeks but it all started 34+4. The consultant thought i'd be earlier this time, lost my plug 9 days ago so they really thought he/she was coming but so far (touch wood) baby has stuck where they are for a bit longer

WinterLover · 23/09/2014 07:39

Good luck on the bra shopping, a nightmare job in itself nevermind with kids in tow!

TwigletFiend · 23/09/2014 09:27

Good morning, ladies!

I'm so pleased for you, Winter, have had my legs fingers tightly crossed for you. Hopefully baby will choose to stay in the warm for a little longer still - it's bloody freezing here in the Forest this morning!

weeonion, I hope you're having a quiet few days since you are without transport. It all sounds like a total nightmare. Hopefully they will get the car back up and running soon, but don't overdo it in the meantime! Thanks

Kantha, glad DS is feeling better today. Good luck on the bra hunt, I'm a bit unsure about purchasing any at the moment as my boobs are still tiny and I'm clinging to the hope that they might suddenly expand to a previously unthinkable size!

Petal, hope the jab isn't too sore this morning. Mine lasted a good couple of days, then just felt kind of like a fading bruise for a few days after that.

moggle, glad you're settling in. How exciting! Smile It's a really nice feeling to have everything all fresh and new for the baby, just make sure DH does most of the work Wink

I still have 6 weeks left at work after this week. I should be finishing at 38 weeks (am 32 + 2 now) but am now regretting this decision a little! I'm finding things quite hard going now. It's so frustrating, by the time I've hauled my butt out of bed, driven to the stables, fed & exercised my horse, driven home and showered etc. I am ready to go back to bed, not do a full day in the office! I am lucky in that I work really close to home, but it still all seems like a lot of effort at the moment, let alone in a few weeks time. Eek!

OP posts:
weeonion · 23/09/2014 09:35

Winter - that is great news indeed.

Kantha - hope bra shopping goes smoothly!

Twig - that sounds bloody exhausting without a days work on top of it!!! :-)

Petal26 · 23/09/2014 11:48
