Oh bless you annarose I'm sure you didn't do anything wrong! Sounds like you were really thoughtful.

pinkgirlythoughts · 20/09/2014 20:11

I didn't know Braxton Hicks started as early as that, Vicky. I had them from quite early on with DS, but haven't really noticed them at all so far this time round. I woke up at 5.30 this morning with excruciating stomach ache, feeling like I was going to be sick- it felt very much like the early contractions with DS, but lasted for ages. I found myself rushing to the loo every hour until 9.30, when it suddenly stopped again. Probably just a bit of a gippy tummy, but combined with losing my plug earlier in the week, it bloody terrified me at the time!

Took DS to the circus this afternoon. He loved it, and so did Bump- was jumping around all over the place, all through the show Grin

Vicky5910 · 20/09/2014 21:17

I could be wrong Blush I heard it and parroted it!
I had what felt like an hour long one this morning. Barely any break.
Early labour is a terrifying thought. I hope that baby stays put pinkgirly

WinterLover · 20/09/2014 22:09

weeonion last week I thought it was me that would be first Grin thankfully all has died off and I feel fairly 'normal' atm.

Nesting has set in here too, just wish my body would allow me to do more..

MusicAndBooks · 20/09/2014 22:32

Thank you Annarose2014-oh good, a few more days and I can get over the weeping!
After saying few movements, today baby has been moving and kicking and bumping all over the place so must like chocolate birthday cake-it's really put my mind at rest. It's funny how much you forget between baby one and baby two -I suppose it will have less room now at this stage so can't wiggle as freely.
Got a Davina DVD to exercise to as well which has good pre and post-natal exercise which will help with bump and me time

Read this and found it funny, if anyone wants a laugh!

I'm at 30 weeks and good news is my MOJO is back Yee haa! Definitely went through a sensitive and getting used to new body phase now I'm loving up hubby. New haircut was a good bit if me time as well, hope others have experienced similar uplifts

Gingerelle · 21/09/2014 06:49

Hi all! I posted a 'hello' back in May but then lost the thread so hello again! Been busy moving house and settling DD1 in but now starting to finally focus on this 2nd one. Well - I bought some miniature toiletries for hosp bag which is a start! Finish work in 4 weeks which I can't wait for. On the less good side heartburn is awful this time and I have piled on the weight :(

Is there/are there any plans to start up a facebook group from this page? Im on another one and it's great - much easier to keep track of/follow threads of conversations.

Is there/are

Getyourflipflopson · 21/09/2014 09:13

31+ 2 and my sickness has started to come back Hmm. Not fun! Also, my back is really starting to ache and the end of the day after looking after our one year old. Ho hum!
A few bargains people might want to know about- Asda have really good quality nursing bras that go up to 42g for £6 each. Amazon have 4 boxes of 60 lansinoh breast pads for £14.99.

FTMK · 21/09/2014 13:25

Welcome to all newbies and returners.

Difficult for both of you Anna - sounds like you did all the right things. I think I might have had BH on and off since quite early but I don't feel them other than if you touch my bump it's hard.
Getyourflipflops my back is sore low down and I don't even have a 1yo! Think it's the bump pulling me forward.

So far I've managed to avoid the medication for GD although eggs for breakfast is yuck and I'm slightly concerned I'm not eating enough. See the consultant in a week and a half again and another growth scan so FX all still within the normal range. Have womanned up and done a boots shop for hospital bag, especially as it could be induction from 38 weeks. We've also started NCT and I think we've chosen a pram! Feel like I'm getting a bit organised - how's everyone else doing with the preparations?

WinterLover · 21/09/2014 14:54

I have no energy today and baby is rather quiet Sad

Gonna have to see how I go and maybe get checked over Sad

Vicky5910 · 21/09/2014 15:05

Oh no winterlover hope you feel better soon.
I'm laying down waiting for baby to move after a few quiet hours. I think I've just been busy today. Could it be the same for you?

blamber · 21/09/2014 15:34

Hi winter lover, hope you are feeling a bit better and baby is moving more now.

I can't believe how close our due dates are becoming. Still need to do so much and have to get all the hospital/ after birth crap.

I finished work but somehow feel worse now! Must be because I don't have to hold it together anymore and don't have to keep on going. So now I'm tired and uncomfortable. Getting grumpy too, my poor boyfriend. I'm just not sleeping well and the baby feels massive. Very excited too about meeting the baby though!

WinterLover · 21/09/2014 15:44

thanks, I've tried laying down, having something sweet, cold and hot and a get a tiny kick or punch. Not been busy today. Just seeing how i go is the best option.

happypotamus · 21/09/2014 17:07

I also don't remember ever having any Braxton Hicks last time I was pregnant, but seem to have lots this time, at least I assume that is what they are. Usually they are just uncomfortable, but sometimes really hurt and I too worry, probably unecessarily about early labour.
We went to Aldi today (won't be going there on the weekend again, the entire world was there and we had to queue to get in the car park!!) for the baby event. We got muslins, blankets and a hooded towel (and a magic painting book for DD) for £12, which was most of the things we don't still have from DD. She still uses her towels and plays with the blankets and muslins. We need a new Moses basket mattress and baby monitor and that's about it now, I think. Am planning to pop into town on Tuesday for hospital bag stuff.

WinterLover Hope everything is ok and your baby wakes up a bit soon.

amy83firsttimer · 21/09/2014 17:07

Winter, I'd go in if I were you. They'd rather see you and put your mind at rest than you ignore something potentially serious. Keep us updated. Xx

Vicky5910 · 21/09/2014 17:20

I agree with Amy, go on in if you're worried. It's better to check these things out x

ladydolly · 21/09/2014 17:21

Absolutely winter. Just for your peace of mind. The guidance is to contact them if nothing after a lay down and a cold drink. I'm sure he/she is just having a nice long nap but worth calling in.

I've had braxton hicks for a while, probably since early 20's weeks. Just a really hard tummy but a little more painful now. Apparently you're supposed to get it when you relax or lay down but I get mine when I'm rushing around/walk too far. I assume that's still what they are?

I have everything apart from a white noise machine and that's a 'nice to have'. I've half packed my bag, we're away this weekend so my plan was to do it when we get back since this is the bag we'll be using.

Got some beautiful hand knitted cardigans from DP's nan and I totally lost it when we opened them. I was sobbing, I'm mortified! After we left hers DP was worried about leaving me on my own for the afternoon fearing for my mental state! I explained I'd also cried when he'd sent me an amusing video at work and when there was a radio segment about teenagers going off to uni. It's just like every emotion comes out of my eyes now!! Of course now the pressure is on for when I get the blanket his mother is crocheting, if I don't cry there could be trouble!!

blamber · 21/09/2014 17:34

When do you start using a baby monitor? I thought that in the first six months the baby pretty much slept wherever you were so you don't need one in the beginning?

Vicky5910 · 21/09/2014 17:41

If baby falls asleep in the bedroom and you want to go and watch tv or have a bath, the baby monitor is really useful. Similarly if you need to pop to the garage, you want to make lunch, and the baby is in another room, it can come in handy.
It's useful for that 7pm-11pm time if you have a baby who actually sleeps during those hours and you don't feel like sleeping yet.

Gingerelle · 21/09/2014 19:16

just having a good read of older posts and see there was a fb page set up - am I right in thinking lack of response to my earlier enquiry means it's closed already?

I know my previous group closed about 3 months after babies were born to allow everyone to feel safe posting which was so helpful. however if this one is already closed (months before the babies arrive) I just wanted to say what a shame that is, especially for those if us who haven't been able to get on here much due to other kids/work/house moves etc. it seems quite early to be excluding people tbh.

Annarose2014 · 21/09/2014 19:29

Doubt its closed. But maybe none of us today happen to be on it. Lots of the FB crowd don't post here any more. I know I'm not on it, so couldn't have invited you.

hotfuzzra · 21/09/2014 19:41

Evening all.
Heartburn, eh? What a twatty thing to have. It keeps waking me up and making me feel as though I'm about to vomit. Last night I resorted to a sip of Gaviscon which tastes like Sambucca and made me gag anyway. Now I've just had sicky throat all day but don't want more sicky Sambucca.
I'm 31 weeks tomorrow and finishing work next Sunday - cannot wait. Although I'm a bit scared as we aim for me to finish work after my Mat Leave and me be a SAHM. Bit scared I'll go dolally?!
Back to heartburn quickly, can it expect it to stop once baby drops? About 36 weeks I'm hoping?
Vicky we haven't even got a completion date yet! We put our offer in June and thought we'd be in by Sept. I'm hoping before November (due 24th) which will at least give me a few weeks to see a midwife/visit hospital. Either way Donkey is coming out, so I'm not getting too worked up about how/where.
I'd like to be on the FB group if anyone knows how I can do that?
Hope everyone is well.

FTMK · 21/09/2014 19:41

Gingerelle I think the Facebook group is still active but they are more active over there - some pop back in from time to time so I'm sure they'll link you in when they see you!

weeonion · 21/09/2014 19:53

Hi everyone!

Winter - how are you? Any update?

Had one of pantsest days ever. Had tyre blow out en route to dd's pals party. Didn't have breakdown cover details with me (doh!) and dp at work so couldn't get on computer. Walked to party (1hr) as no one answering phones. DD had a fab time tubing in ski slopes but then grim times. Had to repeat walk back to middle of nowhere, eventually got dp to leave work at hospital and hot foot it home to get policy details. Recovery truck booked as couldn't get tyre off myself nor get car hacked up. They promised they'd be there within hour. Mobile ran out of charge and after no show 3 hrs later, dd and i set off to find phone box. First 3 not working and only hotel on road refused to let me use reception phone. Eventually got it sorted - complete with trip home in cab of recovery truck (dd LOVED that!!)

bump is now aching. Feet swollen like balloons and feel v shaky / teary / wobbly. i need to be delivering a full days training to 40 people from 9am, 60 miles away. No car and no means to get there. Gah!!!
