Afternoon, ladies. Hop, flop or otherwise clamber aboard! Grin

Winter - mrsdowney / random always thought it would-be her. Don't know where she is these days?

Annarose2014 · 19/09/2014 15:12

I just presumed she just chose the Facebook set? I didn't do the FB thing, so thats why I'm always here! Grin

I'm getting a bit paranoid that I appear to have started nesting. I am normally a "do the bare minimum" type housework wise, but now everything I see I need to clean. I had a long morning as a Carer, up since 7am (& shit sleep last night as usual), and yet the first thing I do coming in my own door is to wash the sofa cushions and clean the oven! This is most unlike me!

Am worried this means i'm going to go early....not that that would be a big deal. Just wondering?

ladydolly · 19/09/2014 15:26

I nipped back onto the May thread the other day for a nose, the excitement and all the questions. Feel like an old hand now despite being a FTM! Might take a look at September/october soon. Do we migrate to another area of the chat once babies are here?

weeonion · 19/09/2014 15:28

Lady - we will hop on over to pistnatal

TwigletFiend · 19/09/2014 15:51

Paha, that's alarmingly close to pissed natal, weeonion. Freudian slip, perhaps? Grin

Not sure who will actually go first, but presumably it will be you as you are an end-of-October date, I think?

I'm impatient for it to be October now, this week at work is dragging. I have an exhibition next Thursday too which means leaving the office at 7:00, which means getting up at 5:30 to go and sort my horse out. Long day on my feet too. Boo!

Anna, if you run out of things to clean, you could always come to visit me...?!

OP posts:
amy83firsttimer · 19/09/2014 16:47

I've been realising that the reason everything needs cleaning is BECAUSE I am usually a bare minimum type so it actually does need cleaning!

excitedforbaba · 19/09/2014 17:19

My nesting is well and truly kicked in, possibly because I'm addicted to the smell of certain cleaning products!!

Just had MW on phone have to go for iron levels studies next week as iv dropped again to 9.1 any quick fixes to boost me up a bit?

Annarose2014 · 19/09/2014 17:53

Guinness!! Grin

excitedforbaba · 19/09/2014 19:43

Haha thanks annarose! May have to indulge in a little sip of that ;)

Petal26 · 19/09/2014 19:54

DH always says steak excited :-)

Struggled to get through the doors of my shower this morning, an officially huge...

weeonion · 19/09/2014 21:16

Ha ha twig!!!! ;-)

You could be right!!

I remember last time looking forward so so so much to a drink post labour but..... Forgot i was breastfeeding and had to wait another 6 months....

happypotamus · 19/09/2014 21:45

After everything I said the other day about not telling mothers/ MILs when you are in labour, my mother announced this week that she is planning to come and stay here for the week leading up to my due date! Apparently this is so we don't have to worry about childcare when I am in labour. I can't cope with her in the house for a whole week, we don't agree with a lot of her childcare/ parenting so don't want her looking after DD for long periods, and MIL will be massively offended because we argued that she would look after DD (and she is easily offended). My mother didn't ask, she told me her plan, so I'm not sure how we say no. I pointed out we won't have a spare room, but that didn't deter her. Argh!
I am doing my last night shift tomorrow night, and less than 3 weeks left at work, which is great, as this baby likes to keep me awake half the night already and I really struggle through 13hr shifts on so little sleep.

Vicky5910 · 19/09/2014 22:15

Gosh there are some really overbearing future grandma's in the world! I'm flabbergasted!
I would gently suggest to all that it gets much harder as your child gets older to stand up to granny if you haven't done so before. Clear boundaries from the start show you can cope with parenthood and you don't need coddling or rescuing, or it all gets mighty tricky later on!
Hope no-one minds my (hopefully not patronising) advice. I just have one of those MILs and she really did need telling a lot in that first year with DD!

WorkFreeWannabe · 19/09/2014 22:19

Soo peed off at the moment. Fridge freezer has gone on the fritz since last night. Came home around 6 last night with shopping to find a mushy mess in the freezer checked again at 11 and it was almost balmy in there. Cue last minute dash to my mums 5 mins down the road to rescue the remainder of our cold/frozen stuff in her freezer. Got back around midnight as it appeared to have started working again.

Fast forward to today where it continued to 'work' but then died a second death a few hours ago.

DH works for a kitchen company and his staff discount is very generous but this is not what we need at the moment, another couple of hundred pounds to spend that could go towards baby stuff Angry

MusicAndBooks · 20/09/2014 08:10

thanks Vicky5910 for the whooping cough/flu jab stuff-my midwife is useless and literally doesn't talk to me at all during my appts except to go thro the basics of blood pressure etc. I'm glad this is my 2nd so I know what's going on otherwise I wouldn't have a clue.
Sorry to ask again but any recommendations on where to hire a tens machine from?
I went for a facial on Monday and lay on my back for 40 mins and since then baby has stopped summersaulting so getting a bit paranoid-not sure if it's cos of being on my back for that length of time or if baby has just grown so has less room to move-I'm 30 weeks +3 Don't want to ask my midwife as don't think she'd give me a decent answer.
Went to pregnancy yoga for first time this week-it was nice to spend some time with the bump as I don't feel I've given it much attention with 2yo DS. It's his birthday party today and I've been emotional all week getting ready for it when I'm so tired with no help from DH who doesn't seem bothered about it. I've been crying lots and being sad he's growing up so quickly it's such a lovely age. But maybe it's just the hormones and next week I'll be fine again Smile

Annarose2014 · 20/09/2014 10:00

musicandbooks I went through a really weepy phase at 31 weeks. Seems to have passed over now......hopefully!

And the movements do change a lot as they can't physically somersault any more. I've been feeling baby flexing his elbows and knees mostly.

I must start pregnancy yoga - I was kept awake all night by stabbing groin pains on any movement which Google tells me are round ligament pains and perfectly normal. They may be normal but they're killing me! Just had to take 2 paracetamol!

By the way, have been thinking about MrsDowney and remembered that she had her court case with her ex around the middle of September for her to get more access to see her first daughter. So now am all worried that she's ok. Sad Has anyone seen her on FB?

KarmaViolet · 20/09/2014 11:24

She's on FB regularly Anna! I will tell her she's being thought of here :)

I've been getting pains in the front of my pelvis and was stupid enough to look up the anatomy of the pelvis - it's the pubis symphysis which I can feel which is making me terrified I have SPD.

utopian99 · 20/09/2014 11:51

I've suddenly got the really achy pelvis too karma, but I had it last time and it never became anything worse so you may be fine.
I seriously overdid the gym plus walking yesterday and am still feeling it today. Owwww....

misslaughalot · 20/09/2014 16:18

Another one who has noticed a change in movements over the last week (32+1 today) and I was wondering if it was because baby is pretty large now? I can't believe how much I've forgotten in just 2 years since having DD!

DP has taken DD swimming this afternoon so it's been lovely to just have a couple of hours totally to myself. I actually read the paper! Plus he's off out tonight so I have an evening to myself, bliss!

Can someone tell me what to search for to find the FB group, or who do I PM for an invite? Thanks. Hope you are all well!

Strawberryfield12 · 20/09/2014 16:28

I have been doing PG yoga since 14 weeks about 1-2 weeks and then end of august - mid September fell out of routine with bank holidays, making jams from apples, tomatoes, courgettes etc. This week went back to my Tara Lee dvd and afterwards felt so much better. If before it's started to be bit breathless to take stairs, straight after doing yoga I took stairs to the first floor in a quick step and not feeling any difficulty. So this weekend I am going back to the spare to do more yoga because it seems to make me feel like a human despite the massive bump.

haventgotaclue1 · 20/09/2014 17:10

Afternoon all Smile. As a FTM, can someone educate me on what Braxton Hicks feel like - early stages; how long they go on for; do you get them constantly or just on and off etc etc. Have heard (and read) loads about them on MN, but no-one seems to describe what it's actually like.

When are we likely to start feeling these? IS 31+5 too soon? Is it even possible now?

Thanks!

Vicky5910 · 20/09/2014 17:18

Braxton Hicks start at 6 weeks for most people but you can't feel them until later. I felt mine this time from 16 weeks. Last time I felt none!
They are a tightening of the stomach, and a feeling of breathlessness. I hate them, they're a huge pain! Sometimes I feel like they are non-stop for an hour or more. Sometimes it's a one off lasting a minute or two. But they happen most days.
It's different for everyone I think.

Kantha · 20/09/2014 18:42

I didn't have any Braxton hocks with DC1. With DC2 I can't really remember having any, but I am a bit more hazey (classic second child syndrome Blush).

This time Shock. I have been getting quite a lot for the last few weeks. I am now 34 weeks. I get them low down and they feel like period cramps to me. They also sometimes have the effect of making me feel like I need to rush to the loo. What is worrying me is that they feel exactly like early labour contractions that I had with DC2, so I keep wondering if this baby will be early. They aren't regular or frequent enough to be real contractions so I am trying to reassure myself with that. Sometimes just getting up off the sofa will set one off too.

haventgotaclue1 · 20/09/2014 18:59

Thanks Vicky and Kantha - so me feeling like I had period-type cramps today are likely to be BH....??? First time I've actually felt them so was wondering if that's what it was...

Annarose2014 · 20/09/2014 19:00

I'm having massive tightenings, low down. Not painful but distracting. Not every day though.

So today I met an acquaintance who knew I was pregnant but hadn't seen me in a couple of months and wasn't expecting to run into me. And she clocked my big stomach and immediately burst into huge big sobs. Turns out she just had a miscarrige at 12 weeks. I felt awful. Tried desperately to say all the things i'd read you should say, asked her about names and burials and things (yes to both). But you never really know if you said the right thing or not. So talked for ages about her loss, all the while so conscious of my belly just sticking out in her face! Sad

Afterwards DH was concerned it had upset me but I was just concerned I had upset her!

Now am wrecked though and had to go back to bed for the afternoon. Blush
