Afternoon, ladies. Hop, flop or otherwise clamber aboard! Grin

Vicky is this a first or subsequent baby?
I'm interested in having a home birth (first birth).
My only problems are I'm not yet moved into the house (we hope to be in soon) so I'm not sure we'll have the time to sort it all out, logistically speaking...

Annarose2014 · 18/09/2014 11:59

Last antenatal class today - they taught us how to breathe when bearing down and OMG it all felt very real when we were practising!

Am going to their breastfeeding workshop next week also - I figure you can't know too much about it.

Did anyone get to Aldi today? I got a ton of muslins. Tip: there are also extra large ones but they're in a different section, obvs from a different kiddie event. So have a hunt for those too!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 18/09/2014 15:01

Husband went to aldi he got some weaning pots (for baby stocking), some nappies, an outfit for baby n high back booster for 4yr old

KarmaViolet · 18/09/2014 15:10

Hello all, it's been a while! I've name changed - was Posy.

I seem to have gone back to being pukey again. 7.5 weeks to go…

I don't finish work until the end of October but I'm toying with telling them I need to work from home more. Then again, the building works that were going to be finished by September are still dragging on and we don't have a sofa, so maybe not..

KarmaViolet · 18/09/2014 15:11

Annarose - did my bf-ing NCT class last night and it was brilliant. I got quite attached to my dolly and was absent-mindedly stroking its head while pretending to bf it! Blush

Kantha · 18/09/2014 15:36

Hi Karma, I have been wondering how you are getting on. Sorry you are feeling pukey.

I have spent too much of today mucking around trying to order things for the hospital bag and the first week or two. If it's any comfort to first timers who are feeling a bit daunted, third time round is still doing my head in. How many of x,y,z do I need etc. Confused

The upshot of all this is that I thought it was worth sharing:

Mothercare. If you download their iphone app you get a push message for £10 off your first order as long as it is over £50. In fact you need to spend £60 so that you don't drop back into getting a delivery charge.
They also have buy one get two free on huggies wipes which seems like a good deal.

Ocado have a baby sale on. I have added newborn sized nappies (Naturecare ones, although they have rebranded to a new name since DS2 was born) at half price to my regular shop

As a result I still have an online shopping basket on boots.com that I need to checkout, but am struggling to get the advantage card either earning me the maximum number of points or giving me the right discount.

CraziesTogether · 18/09/2014 15:57

Lots of bargains to be had it seems!

I am really annoyed as amazon, mothercare and JL all had the angelcare monitors for £65 ish.....not any more! They have all put them back up :( I will hold off and see if they come back down.

KarmaViolet · 18/09/2014 16:13

I haven't started with the hospital bag yet. I really should but it's just too daunting and, well, internet procrastination…

amy83firsttimer · 18/09/2014 17:45

Hello karmaviolet ! Was starting to worry about you (again). How you doing? I found doing a little at a time best with hospital bag. Step one is treat yourself to a new bag. All the bags we owned didn't seem clean enough!!!

Vicky5910 · 18/09/2014 18:09

hotfuzzra this is my second. Had a hospital birth first time and I'd never do that again. I think I'll need to be in the house by 37 weeks to feel like it's ok to home birth still, otherwise I'm going for the midwife led unit! Fingers crossed for a October half term moving date, just give me enough time to settle in before it's baby time :)
How long till you move? X

haventgotaclue1 · 18/09/2014 21:03

Evening all. Had my 31 week MW appointment today - all went well with bean moving round and letting the MW (and me!) know exactly what it thought of being prodded and poked... Anyway, had a bit of a "pregnancy brain" moment before went in - had to get a sample to take in with me and couldn't understand why I was so blatantly missing getting any into the pot...took me a while to realise I had it upside down...Blush

amy83firsttimer · 18/09/2014 21:40

haventgotaclue you nearly made myself pee on the sofa!!! That's hysterical!

amy83firsttimer · 18/09/2014 21:41

Blush made me pee myself.

KarmaViolet · 18/09/2014 22:23

Ooh, good point about the clean bag! Might have to go bag shopping at lunchtime tomorrow :)

Haha haventgotaclue that's brilliant!

amy83firsttimer · 19/09/2014 05:30

Something that made me laugh ages ago about going into hospital was the tip never wear your favourite / pale trainers (same for your partner) as you may make a big splash zone with blood etc. Charming eh? Realistically for me that means going in in doc martens but they're already hard for me to get on and off!!!

excitedforbaba · 19/09/2014 06:33

crazies
I tried posting a direct link but at 6am I'm clearly not functioning too well...

Anyway Tesco direct have the angel care sound and movement monitors for £58 and free delivery of you spend over £30 on baby event!

Hopefully my attempt at attaching a pic works better than the link effort Hmm

WorkFreeWannabe · 19/09/2014 08:21

Welcome back Karma

Hopefully those that are feeling rough, feel better soon. Thanks

I'm with you Crazies. I really want the Angelcare AC1100 (movement, sound and video) monitor. It went down to £137 at Amazon and JL a few months back, but procrastination got the better of me Blush. I really hope it goes back down soon!

Annarose2014 · 19/09/2014 09:11

Well, apparently the Stretchmark Fairy has gotten me.

Yesterday I noticed some thin creases right underneath my bump, where they're hard to see. Above the pubic line, basically. I had to get a hand mirror out to get a proper look. Assumed desperately hoped it was the waistband of my jeans as they're small and pale pink, not livid streaks as I expected.

But they haven't gone and are staying exactly the same so with a sinking heart I suspect this is just the start of it.

I find I don't even care that much anymore - it was a long shot that anyone would escape, and I am carrying it very low and have been feeling almost pain at that particular spot with the weight of baby. So not entirely shocked that it would cause stretchmarks.

Still a bit Hmm though. Hope they don't spread all over like a spiders web. That would be hard to be cool about.

Vicky5910 · 19/09/2014 09:30

The October babies have started arriving! Grin
I'm so excited ! Us lot next!!
(I know lots of !!! are against MN fashion. I dot even care!!!)

utopian99 · 19/09/2014 09:36

Have you been using bio oil anna? Lots on my thread first time round with ds swore by it..

I still have no hospital bag packed or baby stuff sorted. Will do it all on second weekend in October - hoping this isn't foolishness but ds was so late I'm struggling to feel a sense of urgency! Bednest is ordered for due date though..

utopian99 · 19/09/2014 09:42

Actually I lie - have also started my accupuncture and hypno exercises from last time. Just no STUFF ready!

Annarose2014 · 19/09/2014 09:45

Yeah, slathering on everything. I suspect it was unavoidable considering how low its been, tbh. There have been times it felt like baby was gonna rip thru onto the floor!

I shouldn't have looked at the October thread - I didn't know one of their bubs was born sleeping at 36 weeks. Thats still a very acute fear for me.

Vicky5910 · 19/09/2014 09:48

Oh no how sad :( that poor mama. Xx

weeonion · 19/09/2014 14:06

Afternoon all!

Yep - oct babies arriving!!!!! I am reading their posts with interest and trepidation and a heartfelt dose of sympathies with SCU admissions, breastfeeding problems and babyblues. All the joy and happiness too of course.

WinterLover · 19/09/2014 14:25

wow October babies already! Wonder who will be first on here too?
