Hi everyone. Congrats on everyone's scans ... can't wait for mine on Monday but also petrified too if that makes sense!
Bubaloo - I am the same, IBS sufferer rest of the time but happily 'going' regular as clockwork whilst pg!! Weird huh?

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

twinkle183 · 29/09/2006 10:14

Hi muminamini - where can't going is concerned have you tried exercise - it always works for me as I have a lazy bowel!!! I know the thought of exercise is not a good one but I go swimming - thats seems to work!!! Apparantly my midwife says it gets things on the move

Apart from that all good here - be glad to know that my cold is on its way out!!!!

I think I was 18wks when I first felt ds move but the only thing that I have felt so far is trapped wind!! Oh have I got it bad!!!!

cfk can't believe your neighbour glad you have you shit shield up!!!! Can I borrow it...?

Bramshott · 29/09/2006 10:18

Morning all! Haven't had time to read all thread and going to be quick this morning because I have SO much to do! But just checking in to let you know how the scan went yesterday: All fine, sproglet definitely in there (although was upside down yesterday); saw heartbeat; great moment when it stretched its hand out towards us; measurement for nuchal thingy went in the right direction, eg. down from age-related risk after she did the measurement. DH was even able to whizz over in his lunch hour so he was there too. Only bugbear is that we had to pay £7 for copies of the photos - is that normal?! Seemed a bit of a rip-off to me!

AngeG · 29/09/2006 10:34

Morning everyone

Welcome claricebean!

Bramshott great news about your scan. How many photos did you get. I had a letter about my scan NHS 16wk scan saying photos were £3 each! As I said before at my private nuchal one I got 12 photos plus dvd but then that cost £100!

I think I felt baby move while I was having the scan and have felt similar things since. With no1 I didn't feel anything til about 20wks beacuse I had an anterior placenta - on the outside - so baby had to kick through that.

Cornflakekid can't believe how rude your neighbour is!! what business is it of theirs!!

My ms has gone, but I still can't eat loads in 1 go! Dh took me out for a meal last night I fancied pizza I managed a quarter of it and took the rest home...still had some for breakfast this morning how bad is that?

Hope everyone ok. Have a good day

cazboldy · 29/09/2006 11:11

The neighbour thing gets worse (not that I have any actual neighbours!) but nearly everyone has just said "oh dear" when they have heard I am pg again! oh well their prob not mine!
can't remember who mentioned a homebirth but can highly recommend them. I have had 3 and hope to have another this time!

bubbaloo · 29/09/2006 11:54

Morning All,

Bramshott-Glad your scan went well. From what i remember,we paid £3 when we got scan pics of Ds-£7 sounds a bit steep and rather crafty,as they know people will pay it!

I first felt Ds move at 21 weeks although my gp felt him kicking at 20 weeks, even though I couldn't feel it.
This is going to sound strange but I thought the worst part of being pg last time was the kicking-I really hated it and it was always worse after eating monster munch.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Not upto much here, except going to an NCT sale in the morning.

Greengirlforever · 29/09/2006 13:22

Bad news on my scan result . A midwife phoned to let me know that with the blood results I am very high risk 1:33 of having a Downs baby. I have an appt with the consultant on Monday morning when she will talk things through with us and I could go ahead and have a CVS the same day or we could decide to wait and have an amnio done. My age has a lot to do with this result - my nuchal translucency was low risk, but the blood result, combined with the age risk has brought things right up. Nightmare. But at least DH and I have always agreed about what we would do if....

Greeengirl, So sorry to hear about your news. How awful to have to wait for the weekend before you get to see the consultant. I had a CVS this time around, so let me know if you have any questions about the procedure or anything. It was OK actually, just a bit uncomfortable, not painful. Thinking of you and your DH. With the nuchal being low, perhaps you'll get good news.

Bramshott · 29/09/2006 14:26

Oh Greengirl, how worrying. Thinking of you and hoping you and your DH are getting the best information you can.

weeonion · 29/09/2006 14:29

GGF - thoughts are there. hope you are ok and DH is as well. please try and have a good weekend. hugs your way.... xoxoxoxo

CornflakeKid · 29/09/2006 16:16

GGF - thats really shocking news - such a traumatic thing to go through after getting through the first trimester - will be thinking of you xxx

Welcome to claricebean - well done for surviving so long without dh!

Greengirlforever · 29/09/2006 16:17

Thank you all for your good wishes and this weekend is going to be tough. I have found another thread with a mumsnetter going through almost exactly the same thing as me so that is helping. Thank god for mumsnet!

Claricebean - I am thinking of CVS because I have just realised that DH will almost definitely be out of the country for a while when I would be having the amnio (in 2+ weeks' time) and I don't know if I could handle that. So we may be going in on Monday and getting the whole thing done. So yes - I would love some feedback on what it was like. I have been busily googling it (much to the annoyance of DS2) and it doesn't seem too bad......

AngeG · 29/09/2006 16:23

GGF so sorry about your results, how horrible to have to wait over the weekend to see the consultant. Big hugs and thinking of you and your family. xx

emmymummy · 29/09/2006 16:51

GGF, will be thinking of you all weekend and will have everything crossed for you on Monday. XXX

Bugmum · 29/09/2006 17:31

GGF - I too am so very sorry to hear your news

claricebean · 29/09/2006 17:52

GGF, the whole CVS thing only took a couple of minutes. The consultant gave me a local anasthetic via a needle through my abdomen. Then straight after put another needle in and extracted the cells.

It was uncomfortable, but not painful. When the second needle went in I could feel the uterus wall being pushed and bending, and then sort of popping as the needle went through IYSWIM. For me it was more the thought of what was happening than the physical feeling, but I am like that about blood tests too. All the time I could see the baby on the scan screen , and see the needle coming in too, which was weird but reassuring too. The consultant I had was lovely.

Immediately afterwards I felt cramping period pains, which is normal. They continued for about half an hour but I think some people get them for longer.

I had to sign a waiver saying I understood about the 1% miscarriage rate. But my consultant had never had a mc and I've read that it has a lot to do with the skill of the doctor involved and that you should make sure you go to a doctor who does at least x (can't remember the number but I have 66? in my head for some reason) p.a. I'm sure if yours is an NHS doc this would be the case as this must be a pretty standard procedure for them.

I had it done at 12 weeks and I must say, for me, that was the right choice as my understanding of amnio is that it is usually done at 20 weeks and I knew by then I would be able to feel the baby moving etc and it would all be more distressing.

I got the results back two days later, although that may have been faster than the NHS as it was done privately.

Thinking of you, and I really hope you make the best choice for you and get good news too. Let me know if I missed out anything you wanted to know.

bubbaloo · 29/09/2006 18:59

GGF-Sorry to hear your news.Hope the weekend doesn't drag on too long for you.Thinking of you.x

sallycinnamon · 29/09/2006 21:20

GGF I hope the weekend goes quickly for you. It must be such a worry. Thinking of you x

muminamini · 30/09/2006 09:35

GGF - sorry to hear your news it must be a huge worry.

My best friend had the same thing happen to her and her tests came back showing a high risk(she was nearly 40 when she had her first baby) and it was a big worry but she had total reassurance after the Amnio (I think she had that). Its all such a big lottery really isn't it - my other good friend was 23 when she had her first and all her tests were low risk and her little girl was born with Downs, which was obviously a huge shock at the time but all is fine now.

To be honest it has made me decide to not even bother having the tests done - DH and I have just decided that we will deal with whatever nature throws at us.

I hope you get some reassurance really soon - thinking of you
x
MIAM 11+1 (I always think that makes me in the 12th week!!! but I suppose I should officially wait to breathe a sigh of releif till Friday)

zazas · 30/09/2006 10:37

GGF - feeling for you and your wait over the weekend. I have my NT scan in a week's time and I have decided that if I need to I will have the CVS test done. Like you I would rather know sooner rather than later - waiting until 18 weeks or so for animo results seems way too long.

Hello to new Mums! Once again catching up on everyone' week takes most of my energy! Although at 12 weeks tomorrow I do see that light at the end of the tunnel - yeah! Have been wearing sea sickness bands for a week now and that seems to have helped tremendously - lost that constant pervasive sickie feeling. However the more observant have commented on them and guessed I am pregnant but I am just happy to not be living in the bathroom! Had a busy week though - had to travel to London (from Cumbria) for work for two days and was mortified to throw up in train station - couldn't get to the loo in time! Then my DS 5 was in hospital for a hernia operation.... went well but it was a long day. They thought I was going to faint when they gave him the general but I just needed some food - quickly! There was something about the smell of the operating area that set me off!

Congratulations on all the positive scans that have happened - I can't wait until mine on Tuesday - just to make it 'real'. I am also desperate to find out that I am not carrying twins - worrying signs of it! We really and I mean really can't fit 2 babies in! Oh well, what ever will be will be.

Hope everyone has a restful weekend.

weeonion · 30/09/2006 19:11

hey to everyone - ver y quiet on this thread today. i can only guess we have all been out busy!
hope everyone is having a good, relaxing weekend so far.
xo

CaptainDippy · 30/09/2006 22:33

Popping in quickly on my way to bed - have been feeling a lot better over the last couple of days, but my skin's is v.sore and itchy, which is pants. Have spots all over my chest - yuk yuk yuk!! Enough moaning! I feel better, which is !!

DD1 has been super mega poorly today. All hot and tired and droopy and crappy. Fell asleep on her trampoline at 6pm, bless her - hoping she feels better in the morning - all the illness in DippyLand has bee v.draining. {{{Sigh}}}

Anyway - thinking of you GGF, you know where we all are honey.

I am going to go to bed now, but "see" you all tomorrow.

muminamini · 01/10/2006 15:25

Where is everyone?
Have you started another thread???
It seems v quiet on here today...typical as I have a nice relaxing day on my own! DH has taken DS to visit Grandma and Grandad so I could have a rest and a mootch. First time I've not actually felt like having a kip in the afternon today - how good is that!! I have even had the energy to go food shopping and make a big stew for dinner! Perhaps I am turning the corner - here is hoping!

Hope everyone else is having a nice day - its very dreary weather wise so I am sitting here enjoying some peace - got my fave CD's on (NO TELLY!! HURRAY!!! I feel like it rules my husbands life sometimes!) and I am singing away at the top of my voice because I can! he he and no one can tell me I'm rubbish. I feel infinatley better than I have the past few weeks.

CD - sorry to hearof the continuing illness. My best friend came over last night with her husband and three children for the evening (takeaway and conversation whilst the kids exhaust each other ) but the minute she got here she was sick and they al ended going back home again - such a shame - must be so many viruses around at the moment! Hope we don't get it!

SexOnLegs and Bubblehead - are you both ok? Not heard from you in a while and was just wondering how you are??

Take care all

MIAM 11+ 2

DVD on tv - boys happy - have bought a pg magazine - going to sit down with cup of tea and chill out!

Hope everyone else okay - still thinking of you GGF
