Hi all,
Haven't been posting much recently, mostly because I feel so anxious about the nuchal scan and triple test. I know everyone gets anxious and of course age is only one factor, but it IS a factor, and I'm 40 (DP 45), so obviously we feel we have a lot to worry about. I had DS at just turned 39 and all was fine, but that - stupidly - makes me feel I'm pusing my luck now. I'm 11 weeks tomorrow, but don't have have my scan until 17th October evening when I'll be 13 weeks all bar a few hours, so it does seem a long wait. Sorry, not moaning, just saying why I haven't been joining in much.

Am thinking of GGF so much, and hoping you get the result you want.

And congrats to all the recent scanees who have had good ones!

CornflakeKid · 03/10/2006 14:19

Was Covent Garden one - would not recommend!! Half a packet of jaffa cakes has made up for it!

bubbaloo · 03/10/2006 15:42

Those Covent Garden ones are yuk...in my opinion.

Just had a large bowl of trifle and I'm now off to scoff a packet of licorice(sp) allsorts,to try and help with the constipation-that's my excuse anyway, hee hee.Is it any wonder why I'm sooooo big.

Btw...tried 3 different types of iron tabs last year when pg with ds and I must've been the only person in the world who ended up with the runs, instead of being bunged up.Have my B12 jab in about 4 weeks so that might help with the aneamia...hopefully.

CornflakeKid · 03/10/2006 16:04

yummy - could eat raspberry trifle! Making sausages and veg for boys and will convert into a saus casserole for dh tea and my lunch tomorrow - with yummy mash - can't wait!! Can't eat it later (or now) as ms having an outing

geordiemacminx · 03/10/2006 16:07

I think it was me that started the trifle thing last week.... anyways I went to my mums at the weekend - she had bought me 9!!!!

Oooo I could just eat sausages and mash and onion gravy... nice sausages mind you... like the ones you get from the farmers market!!

Yum - had raspberry trifle at my mum's at the weekend (after roast beef, yorkshire puds etc - I love my mum!).

Have just made squash & carrot soup which tastes nice but has a slightly gritty texture - don't think I washed all the mud off the carrots .

Hope the scan today went well, zazas. GGF - so good to hear the CVS went smoothly, hope the wait isn't too stressful.

Bramshott · 03/10/2006 16:16

Liath - my carrot soup always goes gritty if I don't sweat the carrots until they're completely soft, before adding the stock. All the recipies tell you you don't need to do this, but I've always found I do (maybe I get particularly tough carrots?!)

Ooh don't get me started about food-fantasies - why is it that I want to eat healthily but all I really fancy is a chip-shop steak pie or a pot noodle?!

emmymummy · 03/10/2006 16:20

Hello lovely ladies - things must be improving if you're discussing food and shopping. CornflakeKid - also haven't been shopping in weeks - has meant that dh has had to do it for a change (and put it all away ).

Well think last 2 day's chundering must have been a bug thing as feeling tickety-boo today and have been back on the stodge big-time. Thank goodness for that, although actually lost a little weight so that was a plus point! Am going for lunch at dd's school tomorrow so am very glad I'll be able to do that without being an embarrassing sicky-mummy.

Still haven't got a scan date - will be 12 weeks next Weds, so should have scan next week, but still nada from the hospital, gahhh.

liath · 03/10/2006 16:21

Cheers, Bramshott - good to hear it's not necessarily my slovenly washing technique !

CornflakeKid · 03/10/2006 16:29

Only ever eat nice sausages (any meat actually) - local/organic - supermarket sausages or burgers make me heave at the best of times!

geordiemacminx · 03/10/2006 16:48

I got some lovely pork and apple ones and corriander and chilli from farmers market at loch lomond... there wasnt an drip of fat came off them!!!

Hello. Had my dating scan today and I finally believe that I have a wee one in there! I have to admit it is very emotional seeing the baby and its wee arms and legs jigging about - had to shed a few tears! They have put me forward 5 days so I am now 13 weeks - even though I am 100% sure of my dates - oh well we will see! So that is a 10th April due date......just want to make the 7th April maternity leave cut off!

Mostly relieved it is not twins although now I know my large girth is only from all the eating I have done over the last 7 weeks to control MS!

Was able to pop into the maternity unit to see a friend and her newborn after the scan - made it all the more real - lovely to focus on the positive instead of feeling so low over the MS.

Thanks for the good wishes earlier today by the way

weeonion · 03/10/2006 17:07

this talk of food has set me off. i think i'll have a go at home-made soup for dinner.
my boss had tongue sandwiches today - the smell really turned me but it was more the look of it as he cut off thick slices... TMI so close to food time....

AngeG · 03/10/2006 17:20

Hi all

zazas glad all went well at the scan. It is truly wonderful to see a tiny baby moving about on the screen!

GGF still thinking of you. Glad the process was ok. Take it easy for the next few days. Thoughts and prayers with you.

I'm at bit stressed today. My car has broken down, our family business office had a huge waterfall of a leak in yesterday's awful weather! Ruined a lot of electrical equipment.

Also DS has to go into hospital tomorrow for grommetts I know it's a simple procedure and he won't be 'out' for long, but i'm still stressing. We have to be at the hospital for 7.30am tomorrow i'm awful in the morning at the best of times and always feel sick when getting up that early and I won 't be able to eat anything and then i'll start to feel sick because I'm hungry but won't realise when that starts and probably end up in a right state and that will probably all be before he actually goes into theatre when I'll be even worse. Thankfully DH will be there, but he's not very good at dealing with me when I'm emotional.

Sorry that's terribly rambly, but it's how I feel tonight.

Bugmum · 03/10/2006 17:33

AngeG - take a cereal bar and/or banana with you; seriously, you can't afford to feel crap. And best luck for your DS; am sure all will be fine.

AngeG · 03/10/2006 17:37

Thanks bugmum I know i'm being too emotional about it. I will try & eat something before I go and take something with me as well.

zazas · 03/10/2006 17:53

Ange B - I did the same thing last week with my DS but for a hernia operation. I had to be there with him at 7.30am and I also feel terrible first thing. However I do find that if I eat a bowl of cereal late at night I am a little better in the morning if I have to get up early. I took plenty of snacks with me and between them and pretty much sitting around most of the time I got the MS under control. The nurses were also very kind which helped.

Will be thinking of you.

CornflakeKid · 03/10/2006 18:24

Congrats zazas & good luck for tomorrow AngeG!

Geordiemacminx - have been to the market on loch lomond - lots of yummy food - remember lots of cakes and sweets! Was up visiting friends at easter and we sat there in the rain and had a picnic!

Anyone going to the baby show in London?

doobydoo · 03/10/2006 19:07

Congrats Zazas on your scan.
Good luck tomorrow AngeG..you are bound to feel emotional.I was a nervous wreck when ds had to have an op..so was dp.Take snacks and drink.
Good luck to you Bugmum..i can understand your anxieties and i hope all is good news.I am 37 and dp is 42 we have opted not to have any tests. But it is tough making these sort of decisions isn't it.?
I still have ms it seems to have returned in the afternoon through the evening.it's horrid.
Have a lovely evening

liath · 03/10/2006 19:11

AngeG - I honestly don't think any procedure seems minor when it's your own precious child especially with all the preggy hormones flying. I'm sure I'd be a nervous wreck. Definitely takes a cereal bar or something similar. Or chocolate .

weeonion · 03/10/2006 19:26

hope it goes ok ange - will he get out later in the day? take a donut or big sticky cake............sorry - thinking of food (again)

we have our booking scan at 10.20 2morro. sitting trying to work out a list of vital questions - any tips?

BlueberryPancake · 03/10/2006 20:25

sorry my total ignorance... what'sa booking scan?

CaptainDippy · 03/10/2006 20:46

BP - Scan and booking appointment in one go!!

Glad the scan went well today zazas - can't wait for mine!!

Hope yours goes well tomorrow weeonion!

Awwwww, poor you AngeG - I had to take my DD1 in for a hernia op when she was about 20 months - had to be there at 7.30am too. Definitely reiterate people's comments about taking loads of snacks - nibbly stuff and some drinks too (can't always guarantee you can find a place to get one!!) It was pretty emotional, but the nurses were v.sweet and DD was sooooo brave - she ate like I been starving her for a month when she came round - so be prepared!!! She ate 2 bananas, 2 tuna sandwiches, 3 biscuits and a pear - I was That's the most she's ever eaten in one sitting EVER!! Bless her!! It will be fine - take care of yourself sweetie!!

I'mm feeling surprisingly well - think nasty bug took my ms with it!! Told someone I'd been dreading to tell today and, as I thought, she gave me a lecture! Glad it is over now ......
