I can't be the only one due in May 2015... So here goes, a shiny new thread.

I have to sneak in here to discuss all things pregnancy/baby related because this is a surprise DC5! Shhhh! Don't tell anyone!

Somesort you are a fountain of wisdom! Thank you. I'm so clueless about this stuff. I think I have a long luteal phase. As you said, we're pregnant now anyway! but last time I was un-prepared for being put back two weeks at my 1st scan. I know the score now!

Kitty I meant to say how thrilled I was to see you on here- you're always a ray of positivity Smile

Mittens thanks for the advice, I think the time and effort for a puppy will be ok (famous last words?), as I work from home a lot, and think it will be worth it. but already, my one friend in rl who I told my news to, is trying to put me off, telling me about the dangers of baby's and dogs......Confused

Lina I know it's hard to stay positive, but tomorrow will come and you will know more about how your little bean is doing. It must be horrible for you. As kitty says, hcg going up must be good? fingers crossed for tomorrow Flowers

bradders85 · 11/09/2014 17:40

Hi everyone, came home to find a letter of the midwife today - My booking appointment is on 1st October so will be 9+4 then. Letter says I should await a scan date in the post :-) I'm a teacher too, think we were all at it over summer!! xxx

Thisisrock · 11/09/2014 17:47

Do we need to do more tests as time progresses? Confused I took 5 more like 15 around the time of my period and a couple of days after to watch the progression of the line. (used a CB digi as well as FRER).

Now I am thinking maybe I should be doing more (reluctant to though as I have already spent a small fortune Grin)

Thisisrock · 11/09/2014 17:48

We have a dog he is GREAT company and lovely to snuggle up to for afternoon naps [winks].

Plus he sits with me when I hang out the washing. I lubs him.

Weeeble347 · 11/09/2014 18:04

Hi Ladies! Hope you don't mind if I hope on the May bus....due around May 4th! It will be my second baby, already have a 16 month old cherub (terror) at home! Congrats to everyone so far!

I have to say I'm pretty terrified about the idea of having '2 under 2'....but then how hard can it be??

Hope everyone is feeling ok, I'm in the midst of all day nausea which sucks. It's like an all day hangover..... I'm a total clean freak and I just sat exhausted as my toddler threw his noodles all over the fridge door. I've come upstairs 'hoping' they will be magically gone (care of my husband) when I go back. A likely story.....

Xxxx

Thepurplegiraffe · 11/09/2014 18:24

Hi Weeeble. Welcome and congratulations. I have a 11 month old and am also a little terrified. I am also royally sick of cleaning food off the floor 3 times a day!

Hope you feel better soon.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 11/09/2014 18:29

lina my heart really goes out to you. I remember in June watching my tests get lighter BUT your numbers are going up! Maybe not as quickly as they want but that's got to be a good sign!

Hi kitty was so pleased to see a name I recognised from the buses albeit I've been on the old bird thread for a good while now.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 11/09/2014 18:31

thisisrock I will def be doing regular tests to check lines getting darker but do think this way madness lies! Can't help it!

Gingerbreadlady1 · 11/09/2014 18:33

Ahhh! Bloomin phone keeps posting too soon, I know I'm gonna be late for puppy class. Off I dash to madness & mayhem Smile

SmileyScooby · 11/09/2014 18:33

Evening all,
I've got midwife appt at 9 weeks (currently 5/5+1) at my doctors surgery (was the first one she had available). Am wondering whether to phone up and see if they can book in scan at hospital for half term as am having to take afternoon off work for this appointment (I hate setting cover work!!) as it is and don't want to raise suspicions yet...am nervous that if left until after 9 week appt there won't be any slots in half term as I will be 11+4 to 12+1...
I'm just a nervous wreck at the mo and thinking something is going to go wrong, worried will bleed etc arghhhh but I'm also really horny at the mo too (is it ok to dtd in our 'condition'?!?)

Gingerbreadlady1 · 11/09/2014 18:35

msmittens lol about the apples!

Haily111 · 11/09/2014 18:40

If i have worked everything out correctly i will be seven weeks saturday. I haven't had anything through.
In regards to a dog, i bought Felix (our mini longhaired dachshund) home when my dd was five months old and he was three months. It was the best thing i ever did. They are both now eight years old .

xXx

Haily111 · 11/09/2014 18:42

Also forgot to say i buy the cheapie tests from Asda (2 for £1)
Smile

BeanCalledPickle · 11/09/2014 18:44

I have a booking appointment at 10+2 and then scan at 12+1. My hospital- Barnet- does these big group booking sessions where they pull in loads of women on a Saturday morning with the same appointment time then make you sit in a room feeling sick as they call you one by one for bloods and to be referred to consultant or midwife. It is not a fun way to spend a morning.

I am in Scotland for a wedding. I've never really drunk irn bru before but have been knocking it back! Any scots here using it for medicinal properties as well?!

Pregnancy insomnia hitting me hard. Awake till midnight, up at six. Small child snapping at my heels. Shattered...

KittyVonCatsington · 11/09/2014 18:46

Yeah, was a bit 'bleurgh' at missing out on Half Term by a few days for my scan for the same reason Smiley - setting cover work is the pits! Totally understand about when to tell work too but then I think to myself, "sod it", if I get that far, I'll let my HoD and Head know and if it's bad news, I'll need them to be understanding. On the plus side, my DH works in a private school and he has a two week Half Term then so will definitely be able to come with me Grin

Welcome Weeble!

I want a puppy now...

LinaDee · 11/09/2014 18:48

Bean - irn bru is amazing for almost everything.
It's the best hangover cure going (not that we -hopefully- will be worrying about those for a while!)

It is filled with caffeine though so take care!

BB01 · 11/09/2014 19:08

Gosh, this thread is very fast moving!! Can't keep up with all the posts!

Thanks Fluffeh, sorry, hope that wasn't too nosy of me!

plinkyplonks · 11/09/2014 19:12

Bah woke up really late today, no energy whatsoever :(

Turquoisetamborine Glad i'm not the only one having work arguments. Ended up in a heated debate with a co worker. It ended with me blurting out I was pregnant and couldn't deal with the extra stress, before ending up with a teary phone call to my senior manager. Whoops!

Rockinghorse123 - I agree with NoRoomForALittleOne & Thisisrock. Ended up buying two Clearblue digi tests - one I did the day after my period was due, which came up with 2-3 weeks. The second I did at the 5 week mark which gave me 3 weeks plus. i'm not going to tempt fate by doing another test. I'm just going to pray lil beanie holds on and hopefully we'll get to see a healthy beanie at the 12 week scan!

LinaDee Best of luck tomorrow x It's natural to be worried and prepare for the worst, but HCG is still rising so fingers crossed beanie is holding on in there xx

Looks like quite a few of you have doggy companions :) Anyone else got a feeling their dog KNOWS :) My border collie won't leave my side since my AF was due - following me to the toilet, to the bath, bedside - literally my shadow all day long :D

BB01 · 11/09/2014 19:13

Ok so I do not advocate repeated peeing on sticks but hate to think of people wasting money..I bought some ridiculously cheap tests from eBay..can't remember exactly how much but something silly like 30 for £1! Just saying Grin

Quinandthem · 11/09/2014 19:13

We had 2 old dogs when dd was born and I did enjoy going for walks and being outside.

But the dogs were old and didn't need long walks or care if the walk wasn't first thing in the morning.

A sling was a lifesaver though.

Fluffeh · 11/09/2014 19:54

BB01 - oh no don't worry one of my favourite things to talk about is my bf'ing of DD. Because of our rocky start I was even more determined not to stop until she wanted to.
I really hope to be able to keep to that.
Is it too early to think of buggies?
Anyone think I'll need a double? DD will be just turned 2 by my EDD. Although she is already a good walker. We use a sling a lot with her too. I was thinking of keeping the maclaren for DD and having the new baby in a stretchy but it will be summer and maybe too warm for a stretchy?
Anyone else have any thoughts?

Thisisrock · 11/09/2014 20:43

I also have the same question as smiley (also quite horny) the rational part of me says it should be fine but the worrier is, well worrying!! and thinks we should wast until we get through this trimester.

Threesoundslikealot · 11/09/2014 20:47

You can get cooler slings for newborns. We've got a Calin Bleu which is made of cotton and still a bit stretchy. Or you can use a lightweight woven wrap too with a newborn.

Threesoundslikealot · 11/09/2014 20:48

Also, my last baby was May too and the stretchy was mostly fine until July.

plinkyplonks · 11/09/2014 20:50

Just seen a horrific post in the March'15 thread, so no DTD for me methinks. I'm sure it's probably is very safe but I think DH would never stop blaming himself should anything happen! It's going to be a long few months!
