It also sounds like your manager is playing on your work ethic, making you feel guilty when she should be looking after and supporting you. Angry

Finally able to get back on this thread! Don't think the mobile site likes it when the thread gets too long.

I have an appointment with the GP at 10.30 about the anxiety issues I have. I'm a bit of a mess at the moment, cried down the phone at the receptionist when she asked what's wrong (I hate that they ask that anyway).

Rang in sick at work, so waiting for them to call me back too. I have a new line manager and I feel really uncomfortable talking to him about the anxiety - my old line manager already knew about everything I'd gone through with my mum and the depression following that etc and she was really good. New LM knows nothing about any of this. I only have 3 weeks left in work and I feel like I'm skiving but I feel like I am far away from a panic attack.

Peace good luck at your drs appointment. x

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/10/2014 09:01

She definitely is. She also knows I have MH issues. Luckily I only see her once every 6-8 weeks though! I'm just going to tell the doctor all my symptoms and hope he/she suggests that I rest for a few days.
Thank you so much for being supportive even though I must sound like I need a good slap.

monkeybaby2 · 06/10/2014 09:02

What BHLS said, it's their responsibility to sort out cover to keep the shop open and not heap it on you. It's also their responsibility to look after you and it seems like they've forgotten that x

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/10/2014 09:22

Pourquoi poor you too :( good luck at the doctors. Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel with ML three weeks away?

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 06/10/2014 09:41

porquois. Your new line manager will know as it should be in your staff file. I think thats the way I would play it, dignified and straightforward. "I assume you know my history from my file, unfortunately I am not very well at the moment.I am suffering from depression and anxiety. I wont be in" or something. They are not allowed to discriminate against MH issues and they will have to be careful not to be seen to be doing that. Good luck with Drs.

I have just been signed off till maternity. I think I will be happy when its sunk in.

LotsaTuddles · 06/10/2014 09:49

I agree, you need to concentrate on getting well peace.

I've still got period type pains, so going to wait until DH gets home from work then he'll probably make me ring someone

kusmile · 06/10/2014 11:36

So sorry to see that some of you are having trouble with ill health and work. Porquoi - don't feel like you're skiving, it sounds like you're really not in a good way at the moment Sad. Glad to see you got signed off BHLS, I hope you feel better soon Smile

Things here are looking good, finally seem to have a 'normal' stomach again after being ill for over a week, and I'm enjoying the peace and quiet of my parents' house after fleeing my own tiny overcrowded apartment. I'm really hoping that when my screaming little baby comes home in December, my partner's sister, her bf and their occasional houseguests (who occupy the living room) will decide it's time to fly the nest.

Everyone seems under the weather! Has anyone else had insomnia? Im asleep from about 10.30pm-2am(ish) then wide awake till about 5.30am then asleep again till about 7am!
And rarely manage to have a snooze in the afternoon :(

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/10/2014 15:04

Lucy I'm definitely the opposite; I sleep all the time!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/10/2014 16:58

SOH!

The doctor was an ENT specialist and told me to inhale steam through my nose every day for the rest of my life and I won't cough anymore. Should they not be handing this information out at birth, or something?

He also signed me off work for two weeks. This is where the drama starts. I phoned my manager and told her, and asked her what do I need to do on a practical level? She said, "well, most managers have enough volunteers that they can have time off sick when they need it, but you don't, so you obviously need to work on that" Shock I was totally expecting that from her, but was still really unhelpful. So I'm on the bus with 30% battery left, desperately ringing every volunteer begging them to cover.

And my arm hurts from the blood test. The nurse was like a machine! In, stab, out. Next! In, stab, out. Next!

kusmile · 06/10/2014 17:31

Peace - your manager is really insensitive! What kind of manager is she that she can deal with one of her staff being off sick! Grr.

Lucy - Fortunately I've not had insomnia but my sleep has been disrupted. Sleep from 11:30 pm (or later) till 5am, wake up, play on phone for a bit, sleep again from 6ish till 10 or 11am. I've always tended to sleep quite excessively.

CatFaceCrayola · 06/10/2014 18:12

Lucy - I'm sleeping terribly lately.

Peace - I'm very glad you're taking some time off. But it is time OFF so you shouldn't be worrying about cover. Let someone else (like this cow-faced manager) deal with it. Try not to feel guilty and make the most of a restful 2 weeks

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/10/2014 18:39

It's sorted for this week anyway. I'm gonna get massively reacquainted with my bed!!

CatFaceCrayola · 06/10/2014 18:59

An excellent plan!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/10/2014 19:38

Is there a new thread yet or shall I do the honours?

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 06/10/2014 19:42

Peace, if the Dr signs you off, then its her that needs to worry about cover. You have been deemed not fit to work so shouldn't be working. Do you get on with the people above her, or HR, as they would have a fit if they knew the pressures she was heaping on an unwell pregnant woman. She is treading on very dodgy legal ground.

My work phoned me this morning and told me that they were putting me off sick until maternity starts. I am going to do them a handover tomorrow and then its up to them to manage. Not me. I wasnt best pleased but hey ho. I'm getting used to the idea. Grin

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 06/10/2014 21:13

Peace honours please! xx
