Sounds like a great support team you've got there Memphis Smile

donkir · 27/08/2014 16:35

My mum was there for my ds birth as well as my ex and my mum had asked to be there again which I'm happy with. She kept down business end and ex stayed up to wipe brow. Worked well.

jenmcspen · 27/08/2014 16:54

At the mo thinking it will just be me and DP. I know my mum would come if I asked, but might see how things pan out...

Memphisbelly · 27/08/2014 17:02

Ds is 4 and thought he would be there 'when they get the baby out' he has just asked how big the baby is so I showed him on a ruler and he said it was big enough to play now and wants him out!

He is so excited, trying to keep him involved and am letting him pick things like the bouncing chair, my neightbour has offered to sell me her jumparoo for £20 so snapped that bargain up!

freneticfox · 27/08/2014 19:02

My Mum is coming up when I go into labour, and I'd like her to be there for the birth, as long as DH is happy with that. Since we lost my Dad 18 months ago we've become even closer and as it's her first grandchild I really want her to share as much as possible; will be a very happy day tinged with the sadness that my Dad isn't there.

bellaboo88 · 27/08/2014 20:13

Fox, I'm quite sure I've felt movements too...more after being sick or sneezing. I texted dp to say it full on rolled over the other day, I just know its there sometimes. I'm still 3lbs lighter than pre pregnancy & find I distribute fat to my legs rather than my waist. I hope it is bubba!

Talking of sick, I've been ace since Friday & today for no apparent reason baby rejected my fruit snack :-(

How's everyone doing with ms? Xx

LittleMissSunshine33 · 27/08/2014 20:18

Bimberley I am exactly the same I have put on 7lbs although this is my first! I have a definite baby belly, going back in to work this week and seeing people I haven't seen for a few weeks they have really noticed!

Memphis your poor friend nearly died and you had a traumatic birth ahhhh I'm trying not think positive and only listen to good stories Wink lol I'm so scared/intrigued about labour! I think I am only going to have my OH with me at the birth as I think I will be worrying that my mum would be worried about me...she is a big worrier!

littlemiss let me put your mind at ease Grini have a medical condition which means I will either heamorrage or clot on top of this because of the condition the drip to speed up labour gave me a reaction so it slowed everything down so I am not textbook..... my friend was swollen like balloon and went against advice to go in.....she had pre eclampsia as you know untreated is awful so again not textbook. ..... my other friend went to hospital for treatment of a uti she was examined and was 9cm dialated.....wasn't a uti....was back home 2 hours later with her new baby....now thats my kind of birth Grin

Bimberley · 27/08/2014 20:50

Think it will just be me and Dh at the birth. I love how close it brings us. Mum will be at the hospital but not inthe room. Mum has also offered to take a week off work when we have baby to help with other two DC. Dh will have to be back at work fairly soon so mum's help will be greatly appreciated.

Memphisbelly · 27/08/2014 21:00

I am a rare weirdo that hates others decending on my house, I hated visitors after ds was born I see my home as my haven so struggle with people visiting. It sets my anxiety off

none of dh's family help they just swan in wanting dh to make tea not bothered if its our meal time. my dad decends with his 2 young kids and my mum is great just drops in taking our washing and makes us a drink and leaves.

longbottom · 27/08/2014 21:07

I had my mum and DP at birth of DD, hoping to do the same this time!
They were a great support for each other, and my labour was so long they kept each other awake!
Can't wait for movements, 14 weeks now!!

freneticfox · 27/08/2014 21:16

bella, I don't want to speak too soon, but I think I'm finally emerging from the tunnel... I've had three days in a row now where I've had barely any nausea - and none at all last night despite being knackered and emotional. Still not willing to say it's over yet though, don't want to get complacent!

Went to Tesco earlier (alone, big mistake) and came home with chinese food, jelly bean cookies, apples, nutella, mini donuts and pot noodles.

Never trust a pregnant woman to restock the food cupboards.

Memphisbelly · 27/08/2014 21:17

jelly bean cookies??? wowza I need those

freneticfox · 27/08/2014 21:26

They were kind of a peace offering for DH (he loves jelly beans) after I had a bit of a breakdown on the phone earlier for no apparent reason other than hormones! They are nice though...

Memphisbelly · 27/08/2014 21:49

I had beans on toast, kinder bueno and cookies tonight...healthy

freneticfox · 27/08/2014 22:46

I definitely spoke too soon about lessening nausea, yuck :(

suzimagoozi · 27/08/2014 23:27

tinned spaghetti on toast and custard tart Grin

LittleMissSunshine33 · 28/08/2014 07:43

Thanks Memphis I'm definitely keeping the last story in my head!

I'm loving lay ins I'm making the most of them before going back to work! When I get up in the night for the toilet half asleep with my eyes still closed I think how would I now see to a baby (if it had been the baby waking me rather than my bladder!) how can you prepare yourself?!

OP posts:
Bimberley · 28/08/2014 07:55

Littlemisssunshine, I don't think you can ever really prepare for the sleepless nights. You adjust because you have to!

BanglesSpangles · 28/08/2014 08:10

I'm liking the sound of jellybean cookies!

Think it'll just be me and the oh at the hospital. My mum, as brilliant as she is, is a bit crap in a crisis situation or if she's not in control, and I'm thoroughly anti any fuss being made on my behalf so will prefer it to just be the two of us and don't mind if the world's and his wife comes to visit when we get back home!

Not looking forward to the lack of sleep situation as I'm crap if im a bit tired, but I am Queen of the power nap- literally 20 minutes and I'm good to go again, so I'm hoping that'll get me through!

shellbyville · 28/08/2014 09:49

Ugh. Started vomiting at 15 weeks. How depressing. Where's my glow?? Haha.

BanglesSpangles · 28/08/2014 09:55

booo! Actually, shellby, I've only started to feel ick in the last fortnight or so- blatant payback for my easy first trimester- Have started having to do everything reeeaaaallly slowly in the mornings now, and last week I had to crouch on the floor in a tube station until i stopped feeling like i was going to pass out- the joys!

Fingers crossed it won't last long!

On the plus side, I think the monster spots are clearing up- Come on glow!

JacktheLab · 28/08/2014 11:42

Hello all Smile

Sitting in the car at the beach having my lunch, in some ways my job is horrid but there are compensations Wink

Ds is nearly three he didn't sleep through till he was over two so you do have to get used to it sometimes, although I am ordering a sleeping model this time, let's hope the baby gets the memo Grin

On maternity leave you can sleep in and take naps during the day when the baby sleeps.

Dh and I have a strict rota of lay ins on the weekends and holidays and tragically I have to go bed much earlier than I did before ds.

Worth it though and actually those three am feeds can be a lovely special time together once you get used to them Wink

Bimberley · 28/08/2014 12:01

Jack thelab I agree! 3am feeds meant I got baby snuggles all to myself! I grew to love the night feeds!

Memphisbelly · 28/08/2014 12:58

jack agree re 3am feeds. ds was 3 before he slept due to ear issues. I hope I get a sleeper.

dh never sleeps past 6 so I get a lie in every weekend and holidays
