I'll be so interested to see how DH and I handle the sleep thing, seeing as this is our first! He's a very heavy sleeper - I've witnessed one of our cats pawing at his face and he just brushes him off while still asleep and carries on! Me on the other hand... a mouse farts three miles away and I'm wide awake. Hoping we can sort some kind of weekend duty once he's back at work from paternity leave.

Feeling a bit queasy again today, although the most 'perky' I've felt so far. I have no idea what's going on with my body since pregnancy. I would welcome a nausea-free existence though. That would be splendid.

Been to the midwife today got to hear little beans heartbeat which I really needed! All good, except I have to have a diabetes test in November. I can't wait for my 20 week scan now in October, mini steps to get through!! Hoping to have the 3D scan as well!

I had 16/17 week check with mw this morning and they only checked my bp and not heartbeat which I thought was odd. Maybe because I had a scan on Tuesday.
Took the boys I look after to a farm today wow those pigs smell. Luckily we went before lunch so managed to keep it together.

Memphisbelly · 28/08/2014 17:09

Smells are really getting to me too, i had a curry and my pee stank of curry after, I could also smell curry on my skin, I was assured no one else could smell it!

Frenetic I am the same sort of sleeper as you, also if I get woken up it takes me ages to drop back off. My dh was like yours sleeps through everything but when ds arrived he woke up for every feed with me, as he works so much he used to do weekend wake ups and I did m-f but after 3 months of me insisting he needed to rest he said he wanted to share the night feeds as he was awake for the, anyway! We did it in shifts I did last one of night before I went to sleep then he did the next one then I did very early morning one.

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, was really struggling with sickness and teetered on being admitted to hospital for a while. Fortunately I hit 16 weeks and things have drastically improved. I feel human again for large parts of the day.

I had a scan today and it was the best one so far. Twin one kept kicking the sonographer and I could feel it very clearly! Twin two was lazier but kept photo bombing every scan picture, the photos I got of twin 1 all have a hand or foot of twin 2 in. Its ceetainly starting to feel a lot more real! Because I have a scan every two weeks the staff are so lovely and give me free pics so my son is making a scrap book.

We have decided not to find out the sex as we didn't with our other children and enjoyed the anticipation. We have some fairly mega purchases to make including a 7 seated car but I have decided not to but anything till 20 week scan is out of the way. We keep getting told how high risk this type of twin pregnancy is as the babies share a placenta so I am really anxious about something going wrong. Today though I am enjoying that they are both doing well and I feel OK and haven't puked!

HerRoyalNotness · 28/08/2014 18:33

tonight twins! Wow, how exciting! I hope they continue to do well, I assume they will give you extra monitoring?

re sleeps and night feeds, DH and I used to both pretend to be asleep with the first 2 DC, sometimes I'd do a sigh and shuffle as if I was a little disturbed, but not awake. He always broke before I did, haha. Grin

I'm still very tired in the evening, can only manage to get the DC fed and into pj's ready for story time when DH gets in. Doesn't help I'm up at 5am and off out the door before 6am to get to work so I can leave on time to get the DC. So exhausting. Hoping I'll get a wave of energy soon. The house is a pigsty and I want to paint DC3 room and get it sorted before I get too big. Have started having back and hip pains which is something else to contend with.

Also being absentminded. I'd bought a shirt from joules and ordered a size up for belly, but decided I liked it so much I'd return it and get my normal size. On the way to PO, dithered and thought I'd think about it over the weekend, so went to get lunch instead. Parcel is nowhere to be seen! I think I didn't lock the car getting lunch, and it's been nicked. Argh! Also turned up 1.5hrs late for DC2s first tennis lesson last night

Bangonthedoor · 28/08/2014 18:42

Lovely to hear things are well tonights Smile

Do you know what?? The night feeds hadn't even dawned on me ....until now! It's funny how you just forget certain things. DD is still up in the night sometimes but only for little things so not too bad. She is 2.4 Smile

DP never did one night feed and has never allowed me a lie in Shock shocking I know! But that's the way it is for me. Even if I've gone out for the evening with some friends and come home quite late...I still need to get up at 6am with DD. But I'm used to it Smile not sure how I'll cope with the night feeds this time round though as won't be able to nap in the day with DD around

Memphisbelly · 28/08/2014 19:11

Tonight lovely to hear all is well, love photobombing twin 2 Grin

Royal oh no how annoying re shirt Sad

Bangon my Dh is a rare breed I think, his mum left when he was young so his dad had to do everything (a shock for him as he had never cooked or had kids alone) so its normal to him. he also thinks because he works away a lot he needs to let me rest when he is home.....I am not going to tell him otherwise Wink

Ds has his first day at school tomorrow then they are gong away for the weekend leaving me here, i have planned my whole child/husband free weekend as I know I am going to miss them being here (and I am an emotional wreck)

freneticfox · 28/08/2014 19:41

That's awesome news tonights, I hit 16w on Saturday, here's hoping it's the magic number for improvement ;)

I have to call up and make my 16w midwife appointment tomorrow, I'm actually dreading it because I get the feeling she's going to tell me I've put on weight too quickly - in my defence the only way I survived weeks 6-10 was to eat very carb-rich foods, very often. Trying my best now to ease back into a more healthy diet, but when I feel my stomach kick off, it's still nutella on toast that calms the storm :/

LittleMissSunshine33 · 28/08/2014 21:18

Congrats for good midwife appointments Donkir and tonight seems it was a popular day for us! Donkir shame she didn't listen to the heartbeat.
Does anyone have the 20week scan booked? Would be nice to see more baby pics soon!

OP posts:
Memphisbelly · 28/08/2014 21:21

Littlemiss mine is on the 10th.

Bimberley · 28/08/2014 21:35

My 20 week scan is 3 weeks today!! I cannot wait! Just hope the weeks continue to go quickly!

donkir · 28/08/2014 21:59

Mines 3 weeks tomorrow.

Bangonthedoor · 28/08/2014 23:13

Mine is on the 23rd September Grin next appointment is consultant on the 2nd though so at least that's something in between!

jenmcspen · 28/08/2014 23:47

11th September for mine Smile

JacktheLab · 29/08/2014 06:08

End of next month for me, but we have a gender scan booked for tomorrow so fingers crossed LO plays along!

I'd love a girl but getting my head around the idea it might be a boy, I'd really like to know for sure so I'm hoping for a good clear shot of the relevant area!

I got a letter yesterday calling me for a Gtt test at nine am this morning! Ummm short notice guys! I can't manage it, so left a garbled message last night, will have t try to call again this morning and get hold of a real person!

Memphisbelly · 29/08/2014 07:20

Jack when I had the gender scan last week she said they book 10 mins for appointment but sometimes it takes 2 mins to see or sometimes half an hour Grin then they said oh baby is covering themselves so had to cough to make him move, took 2 mins to show his bits and to be sure changed the view to 3d Grin

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 07:57

Morning all
Lovely to hear from you tonights - glad all is well

I have done bad things to my foot- walking down stairs was near impossible yesterday and it's starting to hurt on the flat too. Usual response would be ibuprofen but I'm uncharateristically nervous about the nhs guidelines saying it's ok in the second trimester! Going to though it or a bit longer to see if it gets any worse

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 07:59

Dammit-Last sentence should have said 'tough it out' must proof read!

donkir · 29/08/2014 08:58

Bangles have you tried foot inserts in your shoes. I suffer with painful feet underneath caused by running and doctor prescribed strong painkillers and even codeine for beginning of pregnancy which I haven't taken. Instead I bought some £25 inserts from boots and wear them all the time and have had no pain.
Obviously if it's an injury or something else then it won't work. Hope it sorts itself out.
Jack hopping all well at scan today.

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 09:29

thanks donkir- something to look into, for definite. I'm hoping it's just a temporary thing, but just couldn't think what to do to help it!

It hurts right across the top, particularly when i flex my toes. Dr Google says extensor tendonitis- caused by running on odd surfaces and ill fitting shoes- Sounds entirely possible with my cheapo primark shoe obsession!

JacktheLab · 29/08/2014 09:59

Bangles my doctor said no ibuprofen at all when pregnant although that was three years ago? You could phone up nhs 24 to check though

freneticfox · 29/08/2014 10:22

My next scan is on 25th September; it feels like an absolute lifetime away :(

jenmcspen · 29/08/2014 11:03

I have another meeting this afternoon to try and sort work out. Hopefully will get some kind of resolution!

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 11:30

Fingers crossed for you jen

Jack NHS website is currently saying no ibuprofen in first and third trimester, but that you're OK in the middle one... I half think I'm being a bit of a martyr for not taking anything, and half think 'but I'm sure I read about a month ago ipbuprofen NO NO NO!'- maybe they've only just changed the guidelines...

Frenetic Mine's on the 26th- seems so far! I keep rationalising with myself that this is the last scan anyway (all being well), and then there'll be 20-odd weeks until i get to see the baby again anyway, so waiting for three and a bit should be a piece of cake... but the majority of the time i'm not feeling particularly rational!
