Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Memphisbelly · 02/09/2014 11:40

Bangles I now realise the mw's didn't care Grin

kkllww · 02/09/2014 11:48

Haha memphis, that's really funny! :)

Thanks for the advice on sciatica Memphis and Bangles - will try those stretches later.

freneticfox · 02/09/2014 12:03

Memphis, your shaving story gave me the giggles at my desk! I've already asked DH if he'd mind doing any shaving duties nearer my due date and he dutifully replied "of course I will". I wonder if that helpful attitude will stick.. hm.

Feeling ravenous today. Normal for week 17?! I've been nibbling all morning, but still feel like I want a huge meal.

Memphisbelly · 02/09/2014 12:04

Frenetic dh agreed to sort my shaving out early on and nearer the time he said 'thats your mums job Shock'
I feel hungry constantly but cannot eat a big meal.

BanglesSpangles · 02/09/2014 12:37

oh my crikey- 'your mums job' ?! I could think of nothing more embarrassing than spreading 'em for my dear darling mum!

Frenetic im alternating between 'oh my god im starving' to 'im so full im struggling to breathe'- doesnt matter what i've eaten- full roast dinner or a bag of crisps, it just wont fit in!

Memphisbelly · 02/09/2014 12:44

I know bangles, I think it was because I have to have painted toes, I am not glam or anything I just hate bare nails and cried when I was too big to reach my toes so mum gave me a pedicure so he put that on a par with bikini line (feet repulse him, even cute baby feet)
I get the feeling of completely starving, eat something small then feel full to burst then in a blink of an eye I am starving again!

Grinningcat · 02/09/2014 15:40

Just back from midwife appointment. Heard the little heartbeat and everything is as I expected, only thing out of the ordinary is that I'm rh negative which I already knew. Had a student midwife who couldn't find the heartbeat so my midwife had to take over. Apparently baby was wriggling around alot and she was having to chase the little so and so about. Grin

BanglesSpangles · 02/09/2014 16:08

Grin great stuff grinning

feeling a bit sad now that I didn't get a chance to hear a heartbeat at mine! Wonder how much of the country does...

Bangonthedoor · 02/09/2014 17:29

Laughing lots about the bikini line sideburns and toe painting....Grin

My consultant appointment was such a let down! They were so busy and my consultant couldn't even see me so I met with another doctor who just relayed a message which my consultant passed on... Good news is that they are happy for me to have midwifery care, which I suspected anyway.

I was referred in the first place because I had a 3rd degree tear (3b) with DD but the doctor said as my bowels have been fine there's no extra chance of me having another bad tear than anyone else...but then he went on to say that there is a slight increase in risk! I don't think any of them knew what they were doing to be honest Hmm

Heartbeat was heard after what felt like a million years! So I suppose that's something.

Off for a date with my friend later to Tescos for a hot chocolate and a browse of the home and baby section Grin

fishcake84 · 02/09/2014 17:30

Hello all, first post for me! Congrats everyone on their bumps and scans etc.
Joined mn in March when I was first pg but sadly had a mmc in April. We didn't wait long to get back in the saddle though, and now I'm 15+5 and feel just about confident enough to join an antenatal thread!

16 week mw appointment this week and hoping she will allay some of my crazy paranoia and listen to the heartbeat...!

Good luck to all awaiting appointments and scans!

Bangonthedoor · 02/09/2014 17:33

In fact...sorry am I wrong to feel upset about it? I mean I had a letter weeks ago with the date, time and name of consultant I would meet. I had no explanation as to why my consultant wasn't even there, the one that was too busy to see me wasn't even the one on my letter. I feel a bit fobbed off like I didn't matter...is this just hormone?!

JacktheLab · 02/09/2014 18:11

Hello fishcake Smile

Bang I think your entitled to feel a bit miffed about not seeing your consultant, but I'd not worry too much, if things were really serious then you would have so it's plus kinda if that makes sense?

Memphisbelly · 02/09/2014 18:32

Welcome fishcake!

Bangon I have 4 different consultants and the ante natal based ones I haven't met yet, they send 2 midwives in to take notes etc then they go off and relay info to consultant in their office then come out and say ok see you on xyz, I have been told I won't meet my actual consultant until 32 weeks as they want to scan me and talk sbout my birth then, really odd as I have seen loads of consultants for my issues but maternity ones are elusive, with ds I saw one on my third appointment then he saw me every month and was there for my labour and then came to see ds and sneak a cuddle the day after Smile
I understand why it is upsetting though I sat there confused this time and asked where they were but only because im used to seeing them.

GeekyHybrid · 02/09/2014 18:55

Thanks guys for all the reassurances, it's nice to know it's not just me!

And a big thank you to Memphis - I'm now in pain from laughing (darn ligament stretching thingy going on) but really puts everything in perspective! Not that I've worried about such things for a few years, started getting awful 'shaving rash' so decided the wookie look was preferable to angry, and itchy, rash :-/ Limits my choices in swimsuit but wth, OH doesn't care so I don't.

And bang, I'd be a bit peeved too. But at least outcome is in the desired direction. There are times when these 'professionals' are anything but!

Memphisbelly · 02/09/2014 19:36

It was honestly at the time really traumatic, I was actually sobbing to dh 'how could you not tell me I resemble Elvis?' It took me a good week to be able to laugh about it Grin

I reckon full on wookie for next time

thingsarelookingup · 02/09/2014 20:02

Welcome fish cake.

I had my 16 week appt yesterday. I didn't get to hear the heart beat. In fact it was mostly a waste of time. All he did was check my blood pressure and wee. I'm a science teacher and my husband is a paramedic - we could've done that ourselves!

freneticfox · 02/09/2014 22:09

So, uh, I have a TMI question...

Finally felt a little bit more myself today and felt up to dragging DH off for sex and we had to stop because I suddenly came over all hot and nauseated. It's abating a bit now, but what the hell? That's new :/

Apart from that blip, I've had an ok day, napped through this afternoon, not being able to take painkillers for my hip problems is a kicker.

Viperama · 02/09/2014 23:12

Frenetic, could it of been your vena cava? The reason why we are told to sleep on our left side and not our back or right is because it can get restricted. I read that if you feel hot and nauseous when lying on your back it's likely this. So if you were (ahem) in missionary it may be that.

Tut tut Wink

freneticfox · 03/09/2014 00:13

Nope, we're all law abiding and avoiding missionary... Putting it down to a random occurrence, am OK now. Just hoping that it isn't a recurring theme..

Bangonthedoor · 03/09/2014 07:44

Since we're on the subject of sleeping/lying down Grin how are people getting to sleep at night? In which position are you finding comfortable? I love falling asleep on my back but obviously conscious now not to, my other fave is on my front. I keep waking up after being on my front with an achey bump, probably after squashing it!

GeekyHybrid · 03/09/2014 07:46

Avoiding missionary must have passed me by, oops Grin We were more concerned about falling off or between the beds on holiday, the joys of a twin room! Plenty of giggles all around though Wink

BanglesSpangles · 03/09/2014 08:06

Morning all, welcome fishcake

Following on from yesterday's wookie convo, today I have discovered they my stomach is covered in fur. What the actual? OH actually laughed at me on his way to the shower

Frenetic- if at first you don't succeed and all that Wink

Bang- I'm a front sleeper, still managing it, just- some nights I've been using two pillows which seems to prop everything up enough for now!

Memphisbelly · 03/09/2014 08:37

Bangles yep I am furry all over my belly! Not got the dark 'crab ladder' yet though which I got early on last time.

Bang on I have always slept on my left so it isn't any different for me apart from the weight of my boob gives me a dead arm Blush

Poor dh has hardly had any action this time as I have been petrified of it making me bleed or something where last time I was rampant Blush

Bimberley · 03/09/2014 09:30

I'm waking up laid on bump every night. It's so difficult to get comfortable these days.

Re consultant, I never saw the same one. It would be someone different e every time or sometimes just a midwife.
One of my consultants I saw did deliver DS though.

I've been feeling awful in the mornings. My head spins, have nausea and horrible heart palpitations again! Think I might have to go see the GP.

We have definitely been having less sex than usual but its been fine when we have.
Does anyone else get a hard bump after orgasm though? TMI ;)

Memphisbelly · 03/09/2014 09:36

Bimberley yes to the hard bump I thought it was just me! Past few days it has been hard a lot in the day, my bump seems to have shrunk like he is nestled imto my back too
