bangles I'm afraid to say I had exactly the same pain after wearing my cheap primark shoes on a regular basis. It went away a couple of weeks after I had stopped wearing them

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 11:33

Bang noooo! my whole shoe collection is from primark! I was half hoping it was some kind of professional sounding sports injury from running on saturday, but im going to have to face up to the fact that it's because of my cheapo shoe fetish.

Damn! (although this surely means i can buy some expensive shoes now)

Memphisbelly · 29/08/2014 12:01

Yep my cheap ballet pumps are killing me......shoe shopping is needed, im wearing flip flops or Converse at the moment and then will be in my winter boots again soon, I also asked dh for Uggs for xmas.
I will be having a scan at 32 weeks but remembering from last time they are so squashed by then it doesn't show much.
Dh and ds have gone until Friday Sad

kkllww · 29/08/2014 12:36

Hi all, i hope i'm posting in the right bit. I only just realised there was an ante-natal club section! I'm due 5th Feb with no 2, and am finding it tougher 2nd time around, particularly the exhaustion. Hope everyone is feeling ok :)

jenmcspen · 29/08/2014 12:50

Hi kkllww and welcome Smile

Has anyone had any really good maternity clothes buys yet? The only thing I have bought and worn was a black seraphine wrap dress for work that I got in the sale. Barely seem to have a bump at 18 weeks so am still in all my normal clothes so far.

Have been advised over the bump jeans will be an essential, but not sure what else is worth spending my money on with it being my first. Any advice greatly accepted Grin

kkllww · 29/08/2014 13:03

Thanks Jen :)

My best purchase last time around was a belly band, a stretchy piece of material that you can wear over your normal jeans/trousers, meaning you can leave the buttons/zips undone. I also bought a couple of maternity dresses and preg leggings. Some ppl get a bit carried away but no point spending a load of cash IMO for something you'll only wear for a few months.

donkir · 29/08/2014 13:04

I've done a new look and h&m online order for jeans and long tops. I'm 17 weeks but as big at this point as I was at 7 months with ds. I'm finding under bump more comfy at the moment I just get too hot in over bump but I'm sure in the coming months I'll love over bump. Quite a lot of people wear tunics and leggings in a bigger size. It's all try and error. Do you have any big maternity stores near you to try things on?

Memphisbelly · 29/08/2014 13:14

I like under bump jeans, got them in the next clearance, will be buying leggings soon to wear with boots and long jumpers, basic long tops from New Look have been good.

I have a nasty big sore under my boob from itching so much it is agony, I can see myself getting an infected boob at the rate

jenmcspen · 29/08/2014 13:25

I live not far from chester, but there are very few shops with any maternity range. Think it will mainly have to be online.
I am trying not to spend much, think most of what I have to buy will be work clothes later on. So far have just raided my wardrobe and pulled out more forgiving styles for the next few weeks! Grin

Memphisbelly · 29/08/2014 13:31

Jenmc could you away away with jersey dresses for work? Cheap and stetchy?

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 13:32

welcome kkllww- you're on the spreadsheet- welcome to team february!

I had a sneaky look at mat clothes today (new look website has a sale) and did some administrator queen style workings out based on the fact that I think £1 per wear is an acceptable amount for clothes, and I think I'd have about 100 days in the office from 18 weeks, so £100 for work stuff. END GEEKERY.

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 13:35

Ooh, also, I just caved in and got myself an emma's diary pack from Argos. Not bad for freebies I suppose- baby wipes and bath stuff, nappies and stretch mark moisturiser

...Going to sign up for us much free stuff as I physically can now Blush

kkllww · 29/08/2014 13:52

Thanks Bangles! :)

I'm going to have to dig out that belly band - couldn't button up my jeans this morning so am still in my PJs surfing mumsnet doing my work.

Memphisbelly · 29/08/2014 13:56

Bangles I love your geekery Grin

Have any of you thought about xmas? I normally cook for my whole family on xmas day (12 people) and my inlaws all over boxing day, skipping boxing day this year and as mu sister and nephew are working I am hoping my bro will with his girlfriend this year meaning just 5 of us. If I did just us 3 dh would be asleep all afternoon and I will be twiddling my thumbs to the sound of his snoring, I just don't want to entertain

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 14:29

i had made noises earlier in the year about cooking for everyone, but I think that's off the menu now- the combined family dinner total would have been for about 20 of us!

i guess we're going to have our usual festive runaround- In alternating years it's one set of parents for breakfast, the opposite for lunch, back to the first one for the evening then basically repeat in reverse on boxing day. Feeling knackered just thinking about it!

Memphisbelly · 29/08/2014 14:38

Bangles we normally have fIl for breakfast early then mil for her breakfast mid morning...that is off the cards and not happening again! I have had the its only one day talk and am not travelling around we can see people around xmas.

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 15:15

haha- i like your style memphis

As much as I moan about the military operation that is our christmas, I do enjoy it though- our families only live at the opposite ends of the same town to each other, so it's not too big a deal to go between the two

The worst part of christmas for me is present shopping. Might start early this year!

freneticfox · 29/08/2014 15:18

Oh god, Christmas... for the last year it's the one time of year I dread. My Dad died suddenly the week before Xmas 2012, after being given the all clear (he had overcome cancer). He collapsed and passed away the day before he was due to come home after three months in hospital.

Naturally that time of year is still incredibly raw, not sure how it'll be for family this year seeing as I'll be heavily pregnant. Very bittersweet, I should think.

Memphisbelly · 29/08/2014 15:32

Frenetic oh I am so sorry what a bittersweet time of year for you. Sad

Bangles my dh's parents are very boring and so different to us, fil is planning on going in a coach trip for xmas this year (oh the excitmentGrin). Mil's husband likes a drink and is ott. I love my sil but she has to accomodate her inlaws would love one year to spend xmas with them.

I usually love xmas all the food prep (I normally do 3 puddings) around a thousand sprouts and lots of Quality street and bucks fizz, I can't see me being able to fit much food in.....also I will miss my massive cheese board that takes a week to eat

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 16:30

oh frenetic, im so sorry- it sounds trite, but it gets easier- My dad died in early january quite a few years ago (weirdly, a similar situation- cancer in remission) and I can remember the first year being horrible, so i get where youre coming from Sad

memphis- my job was self-appointed christmas cheese monitor - bought an obscenely large one for christmas night at the in-laws two years ago, before discovering that none of them really liked cheese. I manfully battled through about 2 kilos of brie and then had to have three months off of dairy because the thought of it gave me stomach cramps!

bellaboo88 · 29/08/2014 16:40

Sorry to hear that fox xx

Now that there's talk of Xmas, when is everyone planning ML for? I can't carry any holidays into next year & think I'll be useless by 34 weeks'ish (new year) part of me is excited for it as I bought three new trees last year in sales (one for cats to play with inside, two for outside) but the other part of me sees me looking like a crimbo pudding struggling!!

My scans not until 29th sept but I'm more chilled now. The little bumps growing nicely :-) love my new work trousers, I know I raved about them the other day but they're fabby! Xx

Memphisbelly · 29/08/2014 16:41

I have already booked dh to buy in port and cheeseboard for when I return home after birth Grin

thingsarelookingup · 29/08/2014 16:49

Frenetic that does sound tough.

We will be spending xmas with the IL's. It will be our last xmas in the UK so it's a pretty big deal to them. They are lovely but a bit stuffy and don't actually DO much so I do find long visits a bit tedious but it should be OK.

I don't have my 20 week scan until early October so it's still a long time away. I can occasionally feel little movements and I know these will get stronger over time so I'm not so impatient for this scan. I just want to know everything is still OK so movements reassure me too. Of course actually seeing LO is better.
