Just Shagging - Thread 11 for Graduated Viroids!

JuniDD · 17/08/2014 06:27

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 11th grads thread...celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed Grin

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 27th outing.

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal here once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a secret facebook group, if you want to join, ask in-thread.

So, roll call below please, viroids! Smile

Funnily enough, my nephew has just got a trampoline and every time I go round it's "auntie Juni, come on my trampoline!"...A bazillion per day is the aim!

I was gonna remind you lot to do your perennial massage, can't tell you if it works cause I never did it, although I was planning to just got caught a bit short!

Grin
wilmabedrock · 25/08/2014 06:24

What is the point of that? Is it supposed to make things more pliable? Confused

I really can't sleep atm. Wake up a gazillion times a night. Last night had a dream about murderers hiding in cupboards which totally freaked me out. And I keep freaking out about this lying on my back thing. Is it just after 30 weeks you're not supposed to, or in general?

cookielove · 25/08/2014 07:04

wil its meant to help you get stretchy so you don't tear during labour!

The back thing is different for everyone, basically you can cut mm of circulation to your legs but your body will wake you up before that happens! They kept me on my back for 4 days and Eli and I are both fine!

laurenamium · 25/08/2014 07:59

Juni DD is 3 and I have only just gained full complete control of my pelvic floor after having her! Star jumps and skipping I had to go to the toilet every minute!

I never did perennial massage but one tip I did get that did come in handy after stitches was to use tissue when using the toilet and just hold it (without weeing on yourself) to support it while they healed. It's very glamorous this giving birth thing Grin

Nessalina · 25/08/2014 08:08

Morning all! Smile

Sorry for absense, I've got myself fucking addicted to the Sims freeplay app Confused Literally spent about 6hrs playing yesterday! Shock

I too have been not doing enough pelvic floors! It's remembering the damn things... I've got quite a good mental trigger now at traffic lights, I remember to do one or two whilst I'm waiting, but on days when I'm not driving, it doesn't happen.

I doubt perineal massage will happen either! I tried to do it myself, but I can't get both hands around my bump to assume the position Blush There's no way I'm involving DH!!

wilmabedrock · 25/08/2014 08:13

Why did noone give me that tip Lauren? Ooh star jumps. Definitely can't do those anymore. I was very lazy about doing my exercises. Must do better.

laurenamium · 25/08/2014 08:30

It was a mumsnet tip from the antenatal group I was on with DD wil Grin

JuniDD · 25/08/2014 10:43

wil don't worry about the back thing. I used to wake up on my back (felt great!) and spend the odd five mins on my back now (if it's ok during midwife visits, it's ok when my hips are hurting!). I can feel things sinking in now and it feels really gross so don't tend to linger. I think your body will tell you when to stop. I got really stressed about it though so feel your pain. xx

I find doing the exercises in bed pretty good, usually when I first lie down. Traffic lights is a really good idea, particularly in this gridlocked place! I'll have a floor of STEEL. I've got some perineal oil so can start in 2 weeks...I'll see how that goes!

Can start the hypnobirthing CDs tomorrow!

lauren is that tip for...er #1 and #2s? I've heard it for #2s...they are getting difficult enough lately as it is! Grin Started getting scared of the "ring of fire" last night...This baby had better be SO CUTE. Wink

Ha it'll be adorable Juni!

Had a very stressful morning so I'm ignoring the housework and lying on the sofa.

RPopz · 25/08/2014 16:56

I've never been one for sleeping on my back but suddenly it's the most comfortable position In The World! Hmm I always feel a bit guilty too.

Is anyone else royally fucking sick of this ice bucket challenge crap!? Every other post on my fb at the min is one... I'm sure it was a good cause to begin with but now its just attention seeking crap Angry

Is it too early for bath and pjs??

RPopz · 25/08/2014 16:56

What happened this morning Wil?

wilmabedrock · 25/08/2014 17:31

I'm in two minds about it. I much prefer it to the no make-up selfie thing. And we have a friend with MND and it's just such an awful disease so it's good for awareness and fundraising for that. However I'm not impressed with Macmillan somehow jumping on the bandwagon. Also I've only actually watched about 3 videos, normally just scroll past them.

My morning was too boring to explain but it's culminated in a large bump on MiniWil's head and me feeling like shite Sad . Ah well, tomorrow is another day.

Pisghetti · 25/08/2014 17:55

Is it ever too early for a bath and PJs? I might do just that. Home at last after two and a half weeks and thoroughly enjoying it Smile I'll have to face up to the mega dusting session the house needs tomorrow.....

Aww Wil hope she's feeling ok. Bumps happen - don't beat yourself up.

It's a bit early but I've been looking at prams. Largely to brace myself for the expense as I've recently found out money is going to be tight for DP until the new financial year. Would have been nice to know earlier so we could have timed TTC better but then we didn't expect things to happen as quickly as they did...... Anyways, I looked on ebay and there's a seller on there selling quite nice looking travel systems with lots of accessories for between £160-£260 which seems weirdly cheap when looking at other systems. Example here
I've been searching for reviews. The ebay ones are largely positive except for a few complaints on slow delivery and on other sites I've found some people bemoaning the fact the car seat is not isofix compatible but as my car doesn't have isofix points anyway that doesn't seem to be an issue for me... What do you think? Too cheap?

RPopz · 25/08/2014 18:36

Have you looked in BabiesRUs Pis - they had an offer on a bit back for a Graco pushchair, carrycot pram purchased bit and car seat in a bundle for £400. Seemed like a good deal as the car seat alone was over £100! I am naturally suspicious of "cheap" - much to my husband's chagrin. Buy cheap buy twice is my Mother's motto haha! But I would think (tho obvs am no expert Wink) that prams/ pushchairs etc are a really highly regulated product and so even the cheap ones will have to pass some pretty stringent safety checks etc? And I'm always a lover of online reviews so if they're good, I'd Def be swayed! Where would you stand re: warranties etc on eBay though?

Hope miniWil is ok. xx

RPopz · 25/08/2014 18:36

Not sure how "purchased" snuck in there.... Hmm

JuniDD · 25/08/2014 18:41

They do look a bit too cheap to me pis but I'm a bit of a brand name sucker, so not much help. Are there any reviews of it on here? I'm also terrified of ebay so not much help at all!

When do you buy a high chair? We've had two different couples try to give us the same high chair (!) and I just don't want something that big cluttering up the house until we actually need it. AIBU?! (I also want one that converts to a toddler table but don't tell anyone Wink)

Baby Homer has been whooping it up again today. Starting to feel a tad bruised in one place!

OP posts:
RPopz · 25/08/2014 18:45

I dunno Juni but let me know when you find out... I've seen one that'll match our kitchen a treat haha Wink

JuniDD · 25/08/2014 18:50

Hahaha popz! I am getting irrationally quite cross about it! Need to get off this sofa really but feeling so lazy today...Plus baby appears to be kicking me in the bladder again. Sad

OP posts:
wilmabedrock · 25/08/2014 18:53

Well the company look totally legit and there are good reviews dotted all over the place although I'm not convinced that some of the reviewers aren't on the sales team. I think maybe you should start a thread in the relevant place on here as the answers will probably be more reliable. My only issue would be not trying it out first.

Juni I would get the cheapest high chair possible. Something completely wipe clean without any material as food always gets stuck in the holes where the straps go through. I don't know what a toddler table is (just a little table?) but really by the time they are finished in the high chair, they can just sit at the normal table. Saying that you won't need one until weaning around about 6 months. They are a pain to have around if you're not even using them.

MiniWil is totally fine. I think she's made of steel. Which is just as well given how accident-prone she appears to be.

Pisghetti · 25/08/2014 18:54

Not until they're able to sit up confidently - when that is depends on baby. DS was about 8 months, others may be earlier.

I had a Graco with DS which was great but we got it for £70 shop soiled (i.e. a few scratches). I haven't really done a lot of looking around yet and I'll probably wait for the sales in the new year but just looking at the prices of some of the popular brands made me Shock these are claimed to meet EN standards.... No MN reviews unfortunately.

Pisghetti · 25/08/2014 18:57

Yes not being able to test it 'in the flesh' is off putting. I'll have a look at starting a thread. Thanks all Smile

Glad MiniWil is ok x

Minion · 25/08/2014 19:01

We've got the m&p zoom package. Just over £300 for all 3 pieces or if you don't want the carrycot it's £229

JuniDD · 25/08/2014 19:08

Glad mini wil is made of stern stuff.

This is the kind of thing I fancy. Y'know, me quietly reading a book, child calmly colouring in and drawing pictures... Grin Wink.

pis I just went on the Mothercare site and they are selling their xpedior travel system for £199, I couldn't work out if it includes a buggy seat (if that makes sense) but you'd be able to try it in store.

I think our pram arrives tomorrow! Getting a Silver Cross Pioneer and panicking as we didn't try it in the back of the car...Shock

OP posts:
wilmabedrock · 25/08/2014 19:17

Hahahha that made me laugh a lot. If they are quiet and colouring in at the same time, it usually means they're colouring in your wallpaper Grin . Although I see the logic in that highchair as you would probably buy a child sized table and chair at some point anyway. Looks quite bulky as the high chair though but not a problem if you have the space.

Hope the buggy fits. Do you have a big boot? My friend had a silver cross of some variety and a pretty small car and it fit in no bother.
