goats I don't envy you. It's stressful even when not pregnant so no wonder you're fed up! How much longer have you got left with the building work? Will it still be going on when the baby's born?

I think for men the reality only kicks in when the baby arrives.

ExcitedCJ · 29/08/2014 08:58

Goats that is no good, men just don't get it a lot of the time, I found not even when the baby arrived!!
My DH might only be starting to get it now with a 3 1/2 YO & a 33 + 4 wife who isn't sleeping & is knackered & emotional!
I have 3 weeks of work left on Monday & I have no clue how I'm going to manage it.
Took a bump pic, anyone else care to compare? I'm not sure if I'm 'normal' sized or HUGE! I keep being told I'm massive by everyone, even my DH, who had refrained from comment said yesterday "wow, that bump of yours is getting bigger every day!"

MundayCakes85 · 29/08/2014 09:09

CJ I'm getting a constant stream of omg you're huge, surely you can't get any bigger, haven't you had that baby yet. It's pretty annoying to be fair as my bump is actually measuring on the small side when I lie down!! I'll post a photo a bit later on.
Ignore the comments!

binkybunny · 29/08/2014 09:10

fatpony I'm going to Perth all being ok. There's still a MLU there but anything goes wrong and it's an ambulance transfer to Dundee which concerns me a bit. I had a look round Perth and really felt at home. Not been to Dundee but spoken to lots of people and don't think I'd feel as comfortable in such a big hospital, even their MLU. One of the deciding factors was that not all delivery rooms in Dundee have windows. If I'm spending God knows how many hours in that room I at least want to see daylight!

I actually slept right through the night last night, but then nearly fell asleep driving to work this morning. Only 3 more drives into work after today Grin

binkybunny · 29/08/2014 09:13

CJ, you're nice and neat definitely not huge! I'm 34 weeks today and definitely a lot bigger but people keep telling me I'm either huge or small. I actually said to someone the other day that they had never commented on how overweight I was before I got pregnant, so why do they think it's ok to do it now!

And what does your DH expect while you have a baby growing in there Hmm

BadgerInBury · 29/08/2014 09:25

Last day in work today!!! Feeling a bit mixed about it - I'm finishing at 35 weeks because I've got annual leave to use up and the hour and twenty minute commute on either side of work has been exhausting (particularly with anaemia trouncing me too). But all the other pregnant ladies I know aren't finishing til much later - 38 weeks, mostly - and now I feel like I'm being ridiculously self-indulgent to go so early... Ah well, decision made so I guess I should just try to enjoy it!

ohthegoats · 29/08/2014 09:31

Badger - I'd have stopped now if I could afford to stay off for longer when the baby is here. If I can get through another 3 weeks of work, then I can be off until June. If I stop now, I'll struggle past March for various school calendar reasons.

ohthegoats · 29/08/2014 09:36

This was me at the weekend - 35 weeks. I dunno, I feel like I'm getting smaller. Midwife this morning though, and scan on Monday so we'll see whether I need to panic or not.

binkybunny · 29/08/2014 09:40

Badger I'm finishing next week at 34 + 5, have 2 days holiday then starting mat leave next Saturday. The drive in is killing me and it's only 40 - 50 minutes each way.

The midwife asked me about mat leave last week and I said I felt a bit of a wuss finishing so early (but my contract is up next Friday so I don't really have a job anyway) and she told me that everyone needs to do what they feel right and enjoy it. It will be last time we ever get this time to ourselves again!

fedupofrainydays · 29/08/2014 09:58

badger I finished at 34 weeks. Also due to ds starting new nursery that's just afternoons. Others go on the 37 weeks. I'm using annual leave for a month so actually only start mat leave on 1st oct which is 38 + 5 weeks for me.

HopefulHamster · 29/08/2014 10:03

Badger I finished yesterday and I'm only 34.5 weeks now. I finished much later with my son - but this time I've gone early so I can do his school run next week. That's the cover excuse, but tbh I am glad I've gone 'early' - I'm already tired and uncomfortable at work (partly as not getting any sleep at night!), and I want to use the next five weeks (then am having c-section) to get the house in order. Don't feel guilty - celebrate!

mum2kiss · 29/08/2014 10:04

I finished at 35 weeks last time...this time 38! No idea what I was thinking when I came up with that rubbish idea! I'm done now!

YellowWellies · 29/08/2014 10:10

I'm working up until I pop again as I want the most possible leave afterwards with the baby. But I'm lucky (its not really luck - I'd not have married him if he didn't!!) DH does shitloads around the house to help and helps with batch cooking etc so I don't feel any real need to be at home as we are preparing together. Plus being at home with a toddler fulltime is much harder than working 3 days a week. In the office I'm not lugging around a 12kg weight, dealing with shrieking companions, having my lunch robbed off me and trying to go to the loo or test my blood with a 22 month old on my lap! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin I intended to finish at 38 weeks last time but had him 2 weeks earlier than that.

I'm actually really surprised we've had no babies yet - we've been so lucky to have no prems!

tak1ngchances · 29/08/2014 10:25

I am finishing TODAYYYYYYY woooooooooooooooo can't scarcely believe it. I have 3 weeks of annual leave, one week of mat leave then the baby is due.

Bring
It
On

STIGZ · 29/08/2014 10:37

Loving bump pics... Dont think any of you ladies look "massive" at all .,, very neat & tidy Grin.

Anybody got a breech baby that is kicking nerves in their back? ... Its very painful & sometimes my legs actually buckle from the electric shock feeling? Paranoid this happens when im driving as i feel like i have no control over my legs... Got midwife at 3pm today so will mention it to her and see what she suggests ?

mrsb87 · 29/08/2014 10:47

I finished at 34+4. I had 2 weeks holiday to take too so officially starting mat leave at 37wks. My job is a lot of standing and physical stuff so I was really starting to struggle and getting fed up not being able to do the usual amount.
This morning in having a pj morning with my boys before I have to do hair this afternoon. I swear bump has grown overnight!

Oh my goodness Goats and CJ you are NOT huge at all!! Both your bumps are neat and tidy. I am mahoosive in comparison (but then I am a bigger girl already).

Goats - re boyf asking you to do things. This is normal and hopefully he will realise once the baby is born that you won't be able to help out anymore. My OH and I had a fight the other day and he told me I did nothing in the house (I had spent the afternoon in bed as I was feeling ill) - but he forgets that I have been managing our bathroom renovation, now decorator and any other house chore appointment that needs doing whilst I have been home. Men hey?!?!

I have the grumps today - a headache and people are annoying me.

mum2kiss · 29/08/2014 11:26

My partner thinks I do nothing too...I have my first day off work in I don't know how long where I am literally all alone...He asks me what I plan on doing and was not pleased when my response was "sod all!". He apparently has a whole list of things I can do around the house to fill the 7 hours that he will be working! Why can't I just be a fat blimp on the sofa all day if I want to?!

BadgerInBury · 29/08/2014 11:28

Thanks everyone, I feel less guilty now! I will mainly be channeling tak1ingchances for the rest of the afternoon :)

STIGZ · 29/08/2014 11:33

Just to add about people feeling guilty about maybe taking mat leave too soon, be easy on yourself and enjoy any free time you have from now until baba is here, my last pg i worked right to the end with the thought of giving myself a week to get organised & relax but she decided to come early so didnt get any time for myself to relax and put my feet up. So prepare for an early birdGrin

Your life is going to change forever once your wee bundle arrives & five minutes peace and quiet will be in rations !! so please make the most of any free time you have just now to do something for yourself, this is something i wish someone would have told me first time around.

mrsb87 · 29/08/2014 11:56

Ooooh no guilt here! Definitely needed this time before baby arrives!

STIGZ my baby is still breech and the kicks can really make you wince sometimes, mine tend to be directly downwards / onto bladder though - feels like I could wee a gallon in that short moments when it happens! Luckily no accidents yet...
I went to a wedding at the weekend and the 'you're massive' comments were in abundance as I hadn't seen most of the people in a while, I thought I was carrying quite a neat bump until then!
Nice to hear about when people are finishing work, I'd orignally planned to study right up until due date and used to wonder why people finished so early, but I'm fast learning that finishing early is pretty necessary, how I thought pregnancy was such a breeze I don't know! I think my sisters must have made it look really easy!! Decided I'm setting myself a finish date in 3 weeks now, when I'll be 38+1. I don't get much done each day at moment anyway so I might as well plod on/ hobble / limp up to the finish line then.
If anyone ever asks my advice on studying for a masters during pregnancy, I'd now tell them not to bother, it just doesnt work! My OH keeps telling me how well i'm doing...he obviously hasn't worked out that the amount I know about pregnancy and birth equates to the huge amount of time I spend avoiding work!!!

Shirehobbit · 29/08/2014 12:00

I worked up to 38wks last time, assuming I'd go over with my first, only for the little monkey to appear a few days later. This time, I'm finishing at 36wks. I have to make it to 35wks to qualify for another full year's maternity, so this one is under strict instructions to stay put for another fortnight!
