How is it afternoon, already?
Hope you are feeling a bit brighter now, binky and have finished your marathon bake. I'm going to attempt some Florentines this afternoon.

In case anyone was interested, the Office for National Statistics released the name data for babies born last year. As a newbie, I don't know if you've discussed names, but we're finding deciding much more difficult this time round.

Xpost Sparkle - anaemia maybe?

MundayCakes85 · 15/08/2014 12:32

Thanks for the new thread, I'll find somewhere squishy to flop down on Smile Welcome to all the new faces- starting to get real now. Only 3 weeks until mat leave (at 37 weeks) and it can't come soon enough. Just feeling huge and tired.
Anyone else suffering with really sore ribs? Soo painful Sad

FlipFantasia · 15/08/2014 12:35

Yay for new thread! Marking my place...

LondonJen · 15/08/2014 13:02

Carebear I remember you and I'm so happy to hear of your bfp!

Glad you're home me and Pregnant hopefully it's nothing to be concerned about, good that your bp is okay.

George I agree it is nice to read what everyone else is experiencing even when you can't post yourself. I hope your Doula really helps.

over-the-counter-minty-vom shampoo? this made me lol Kirsti

Whoop for purchases and 3 days of work left Fedup!

..and onto new thread.. gosh we're a chatty bunch. Hello to new faces.

You've reminded me I sent in my mat allowance application 4 weeks ago and not heard anything back yet. Must ring them later, check they did get it.

I was going to say Sparkle I thought it was just a full blood count. Sorry no idea what they actually look for or why. Unhelpful!

I did lots of online shopping yest to get most last bits out of the way. I really want September to be about relaxing. Even did a Superdrug shop though it isn't all that far away. Bit naughty but delivery was free! I am helping the driver have a job. Or something Grin

HopefulHamster · 15/08/2014 13:07

Marking place!

On iron tablets but think they're making my stomach upset (don't feel sick but do need multiple trips to the toilet every day) - has this happened to anyone else?

Pregnantagain7 · 15/08/2014 13:21

Hi all, welcome to all the new ladies :)

sparkle same thing happened to me never got to the bottom of why and everything was fine when I asked why hospital midwife just said sometimes the need to repeat them if a result is inconclusive or they loose them!
My results were fine I think one of the main things they look at is iron levels.

My lovely midwife has managed to get my growth scan moved to tues so we can see what's going on I'm guessing that they will probably make an apt to do another gtt.

Am on my own with a poorly baby today who just wants to be superglued to me dp has taken the older two to Blackpool for the day. Ds is in bed sleeping off his bug I think I got the better deal Grin no offence if anyone is from Blackpool!!

gunwalloe or anyone else with 4+ children what were your afterpains like with your fourth? I'm starting to think about the whole birth thing now and I really really struggled last time and I believe they get worse with each one Hmm

Pregnantagain7 · 15/08/2014 13:25

Sorry forgot to say a massive congratulations to carebear wonderful news hope everything goes well for you Thanks

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 15/08/2014 13:41

Think the 28wk bloods are to check iron, glucose and a blood count sparkle. My midwife couldn't find my results when I saw her on Weds so I am hoping they don't ask to re-do them now!

Welcome to all the newbies, a few of you are close to my due date, Oct 13th so hopefully we'll have a nice mix of dates Smile

Hello all, a newbie here. I am due oct 22nd but have a section booked for oct 16th - less than 9 weeks now! I am a teacher on holidays with a just under 2 yr old boy, we are managing with a fun out and about morning activity, nap, film, playing and then fun activity schedule for our days.
The house work is being neglected though!

YellowWellies · 15/08/2014 15:32

Laser 23rd October is my son's birthday. This one is due 2 days after. I had my first GD growth scan today, cervix is thinning but nothing they were worried about. My sharp pains in the cervix are because some bugger has gone footling breech and they have one foot in my cervix! Its really uncomfortable to walk even short distances. Walked back from the shops (like 2 miles no more) and it was like walking with a corkscrew in my bits. Envy

ldt87 · 15/08/2014 16:11

Marking my place on the new thread, 32+1 today xx

ohthegoats · 15/08/2014 17:03

Yellowwellies - haha, I had the footling breech thing going on too. It's been sorted out though - I did the inversion stuff, which I know is too early to stay permanent, but I'm desperate to avoid a C-section.

Woman from my NCT class with a fully engaged breech baby, booked for a C-section on Tuesday at 39 weeks, went into labour naturally last night. Last I heard from her was a text at 10.30 this morning saying that they've put her on a drip and she's not allowed home. Erk... I suppose she could be a mum by now. How scary!

I went to a sling library meeting this morning, which was cool. Found a ring sling that I really like - won't buy it, will hire it from there I expect, but was comfy and something you could wear all day if you needed to/wanted to. I'm thinking about something for in the house, just in case baby is a shouter.

binkybunny · 15/08/2014 17:06

ooft managed 3 out of 4 cakes and some sugar mice. Had to nap while the cakes were baking though and still absolutely shattered! Hoping DH doesn't want to do much for his birthday this evening!

I don't know how some of you ladies do the hectic jobs you do!

ohthegoats · 15/08/2014 17:41

Ferk... my NCT friend is a mum. First out of the 6 of us to pop... all a bit real now...

hefner · 15/08/2014 17:45

Just managed to catch up on the thread, hi to everyone who has joined recently.

I've been feeling surprisingly well lately, the pelvis pain seems to have a eased a bit although my heartburn came back with a vengeance yesterday! I'm feeling ready to finish work now but I've still got 4 weeks to go as I'm working up to 38 weeks. Really hope the baby doesn't come early - I'm nowhere near ready.

Congratulations carebear that's great news.

Nice to hear from you George. When I was struggling with breastfeeding last time I did a lot of reading, and I remember that the La Leche League website and book (the womanly art of breastfeeding) had info on induced lactation, just in case Mary needs any advice/support.

hefner · 15/08/2014 17:50

Thanks for the name stats list Shirehobbit. Our current favourite name is very popular, and according to the latest stats it is top 10 but not top 5. I wonder how annoying it would be for them to have others with the same name in their class? Does anyone here have a popular name, and does it bother you?

madamweasel · 15/08/2014 17:57

Marking place - 32wks, anticipating another 6!

YellowWellies · 15/08/2014 18:19

Hefner I was one of 4 Catherines in my class it didn't bother me as there's lots of different ways to shorten it.

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 15/08/2014 18:23

Congratulations to your friend Goats! That is rather scary Confused

Hope baby turns for you [yellow]. I get punched in the fanny from time to time and its bloody uncomfortable!

Hefner DS has a popular name (might even be in the top 5, haven't looked yet). So far not too bad, usually get 1 other Jacob wherever we go but might change my mind if there are hundreds in his school! Although when i was at school there were 5 other people with my name in my science class alone & it never bothered me. I hardly ever meet anyone with my name as an adult either.

Shirehobbit · 15/08/2014 18:30

I didn't like having a popular name; not only were there a plethora of girls all sharing my first name, I went to a school with five of us with identical full names; first, middle and surname. When I went to uni, there was another one of 'me' in a cohort of 35 on our course AND we shared the same DOB Shock

So I have actively sought names outside the top 100 for both DS and this one Smile
To be fair, my married surname is an awful lot less common than my maiden name was.

BadgerInBury · 15/08/2014 19:31

Hello all! 33 weeks today and I saw my midwife this morning. She tells me I've got a water infection moving up to my kidneys and that's why my back is so sore, my tummy so unsteady and why I've been general feeling crappy. I'm weirdly relieved, I thought everyone felt like this all the time and I was just really rubbish at being pregnant! Baby doing great though so I'm not too worried. Should have antibiotics to pick up tomorrow and everything should get better. Phew...

noimagination80 · 15/08/2014 19:40

Marking my space in the corner Brew

Hey all, it's been a while!!! 32 weeks today, can't believe there is only 8 weeks to go to EDD and 5 weeks left at work.....fffeeeccckkk!

How is everyone doing?

SweetPeaPods · 15/08/2014 19:47

Why is picking a baby name so difficult?!
