Taking I had those at the weekend, I just had a lie down and a large glass of water and I was fine. It's happened a few times now, but when I have been on my feet a lot so I'm guessing, for me anyway, it's just my body telling me to get my feet up and rest.

On Sunday during a walk along the river I ended up bent double over a railing with my mu rubbing my back and everyone walking past looked quite concerned... I think they thought I was in labour!

Me23 · 28/08/2014 15:01

Sounds like we are all at it with Braxton hicks and period pains I'm having both right now! All quite normal in 3rd trimester but obviously if worried or they are quite painful it's best to call triage for reassurance.

gun if your headache is not resolved with paracetamol I would call triage esp as your Bp has been raised have you had your results yet? They should be back if taken yesterday maybe call and chase them up?

mrs what a horrid neighbour!

I was very naughty and ordered dominos for lunch shared with dd.

tak1ngchances · 28/08/2014 15:19

Just typed a response and lost it...doh.

Seems we are all in the same camp, I am going to just relax and drink loads of water and see how I go. Like I said, nothing dodgy has happened with mucus plugs or waters or anything and the baby is wiggling around like good-o. So I think it's ok but will call the consultant if it gets worse.

Thank you all!

ohthegoats · 28/08/2014 16:47

Oh yeah, same here with baby going nuts. Wiggling around like crazy - but then it's the same all day most days. My whole bump shifts around from side to side sometimes.

I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow taking - I'll ask about pains in general and just see what response I get. Since Me23 is here though, I figure it'll be the same as her response!

gunwalloe · 28/08/2014 18:11

stigz I'm hoping it is some kind of hormone thing fingers crossed
binky I have high bp so have had the pre eclampsia blood test I'm just awaiting the results
me23 the hospital has finished the test but the receptionist at my docs won't tell me what they say until the doctors looked its so frustrating! As the hospital didn't phone I'm presuming the blood was ok but I'm pretty sure the urines going to show something nasty as I've had so much green nastiness coming out of me today really yukky!

I feel more reassured knowing your all getting Braxton hicks now they really freak me out my belly goes so tight you can see the baby in real definition through the skin really freaky!

Kirstipops · 28/08/2014 18:23

Sorry to all those with their aches and pains and Braxton Hicks :( Today my main complaints are hormones and a baby with very jaggy elbows/feet/knees/bum bone. My house is upside down at the mo and I had a teary tantrum this morning trying to get ready for work as I couldn't find anything, then had a very restless wriggly bump (drinking lots of cold water prob doesn't help) and my commute home wasn't great due to a fellow passenger, I had the nerve to plonk my big preggo bum next to her fat unpreggo reeking-of-fags dour-faced arse, she squirmed for the whole journey like I was taking up half of her side, then when it was her stop she stood up wordlessly with no warning, meaning I had to get up quickly to let her out then the movement of the bus thunked me so hard back into the chair it brought tears to my eyes. Fking cow.
Oh well. Ordered my rental TENS machine (thanks for the help to decide earlier ladies) and a box of raspberry leaf tea. Also have my eye on 2 nursing glider/rocking chairs on Gumtree, retail therapy will get my through this...

Lily31 · 28/08/2014 18:48

kirsti totally feeling your commuter woes! Silly lady. I cried on the bus last week when I had to stand and the guy sitting in the priority seats with a suitcase and rucksack proceeded to get up for his stop, swing his rucksack into me, then stayed about 2cms in front of me waiting for the bus to stop, he then fell backwards into me when it did stop. I yelped and started blubbing. Retail therapy is definitely the answer :-)

When did peoples braxton hicks start? I'm 31 +4 and not had any yet. Would be good to know when they normally start so I don't panic too much.

mum2kiss · 28/08/2014 19:00

Some people don't get them at all lily

First pregnancy I started getting them at 35 weeks...this time I've been getting them since 16 weeks!

Kirstipops · 28/08/2014 19:21

I thought I had them around 22 weeks but haven't felt them since so now I doubt myself! When i was on the monitor a couple of weeks ago I was having them then according to the trace but they must have been really mild as I couldn't feel them.
Oh Lily that sounds like a horrible experience as well, I hope the prick felt bad after that. (Sorry for the foul mouth, still a bit ragey)

mrsb87 · 28/08/2014 19:30

I started getting braxton hicks at about 28wks, I will be 36wks on Monday so been putting up with them a while now.
I'm meant to be doing sil 's hair tomorrow, standing and walking has become such an issue now I really don't want to do it Sad

Here's an odd one that someone might have some knowledge of.

Before I got pregnant I had a really bad rash covering my lower arms and lower legs - starting around elbows and knees. Small itchy spots, sometimes with fluid in them, sometimes not. I was seeing a consultant dermatologist about them, who suggested coeliac, other allergies etc, but we never got to the bottom of it, despite biopsies and things. When I got pregnant he gave me a referral to my new hospital for after the baby arrives.

Over the next month, the rash totally disappeared, and I've been rash and itch free for the whole pregnancy. After 2 years of rash, it's been great.

It's now coming back!

So, do hormones start dipping/changing significantly again towards the last weeks of pregnancy? Because I'm wondering now if it's about hormones rather than any allergy.

YellowWellies · 28/08/2014 19:52

I had BH with J from 22 weeks, this time from 18. My twin sister never had them in either pregnancy.

gunwalloe · 28/08/2014 19:59

goats I don't know about any firm scientific facts but my friend has always suffered with awful eczema and every time she is pregnant it goes away.

Woooooo mat leave!!!

Now it's project sort house!

Those with querying labour - I too have had that two nights this week. Really painful BH and back ache. But then calm next day. Guess it's just our bodies warming up. I definitely knew when it was the real deal when it was!! Doesn't stop me wondering though whether it will be different this time.

Lily31 · 28/08/2014 20:13

Thanks all, useful to know. goats apparently pregnancy hormones go up and down all the time and your body still has to work really hard to balance them even in the final weeks.
I have been having sickness the past couple of weeks, and my midwife said that the hormones may be causing it. I reckon it was just my time as I didn't have sickness in the first trimester.
I ate two pain au chocolat after going to the supermarket this afternoon and was then sick... Punished!Wink

mrsb know that feeling, people who've not had pregnancy back/hip pain don't get just how debilitating it can be.

STIGZ · 28/08/2014 20:13

Hello bump&baby & welcome to the clubGrin

I think its kirstie who does the facebook group?? Although not 100% as i dont have facebookHmm ... Hope pregnancy is treating you well other than heartburn ?

magichandles · 28/08/2014 20:14

The clearing up of skin conditions could be something to do with the natural cortico-steroids the body produces when pregnant - I am on steroids and can drop my dosage right down when I'm pregnant.

Lily - I've never had BH in two previous pregnancies nor in this one.

I'm so glad I'm not commuting these days, I got annoyed enough yesterday just getting the bus back from my scan - the bus was packed and a lovely lady who was sitting by the window offered me her seat - her kindness was then completely overshadowed by the woman in the aisle seat who made the biggest fuss ever about having to get up and move her shopping bags so I could swap with the lady in the window seat.

Scan was good yesterday, baby is measuring just about 50th percentile for weight and all the other measurements are in line with my 20 week scan.

Kirstipops · 28/08/2014 20:32

Hi Bump, I've sent you a message about the FB group :)
A week tomorrow I'll be finished up for mat leave, thank gawd. I'm a bit undecided about my driving course I've been doing so any input welcomed, I'm halfway through the 30 hour course, and sort of doubting I'll be able to finish the other half and sit a test before baby comes (I'm 36 weeks on Saturday) as the further on I get the more uncomfortable I am sitting at the wheel (combo of stiff back, PGP-type pain and CTS, though the latter two haven't been diagnosed as such, seeing mw on Monday) and harder it is to concentrate with a big wriggly baby bump, plus I have the odd day where I feel a bit wobbly if I cock up in the lesson and I hate getting hormonal in front of the instructor!! Wondering when I should call it a day and just continue with the course after baby arrives, luckily my instructor is lovely and really flexible and is leaving it totally up to me. Thing is I know how handy having a licence will be, and how it will be more difficult to get the time after baby arrives to go for the lessons - so I'm wondering if I should just man up and batter on with the lessons at least, and maybe sit the test after baby comes? Right now I'm thinking 2 x 2hr lessons next week and 3 x 2 hour lessons the week after once mat leave has kicked in, then I can go home and kip Grin
Just annoyed with myself as I really set myself up to get my licence before baby came, harrumph...

LondonJen · 28/08/2014 20:44

Sorry for those with the physical aches, the horror of rude commuters and nasty neighbours. Eugh.

I've had a horrible day after only managing a few hours sleep. Clearly caused me problems as I was then swinging from full rage to crying most of the day until I managed to catch some zzz's this afternoon. Baby just would not stop moving and placing itself in my rib cage. I know I should be grateful for not having to worry about reduced movements but it's so uncomfortable and hurts at times.

I read that there shouldn't really be enough room for big movements now but my LO doesn't seem to have got the message!

I was thinking about Tens. My friend hated it. It does seem to be a bit of a Marmite form of painrelief!

I've only had Braxtons for a bit more than a week (34+1 today). Have also been getting some period pains low down and on occassion the two together, which confused me as the BH I've had haven't (yet) been painful just tight so I was expecting any pain to be all over when it did come. As ever, finding it quite nice to have you all going through the same thing Smile

Think I'm going to buy some cute sleepsuits to cheer me up. Hoping everyone gets some decent kip tonight.

MrsBadCrumble74 · 28/08/2014 21:06

Hi all Smile I've been having BH, along with backache, wobbly pelvis etc. I don't want this pregnancy to end as it will be my last but getting pretty tired now and just want to see the little man in my arms.
goats I have psoriasis which got worse with both pregnancies. This time around I developed a condition called PUPP (pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy). It sound fairly identical to what you are describing with raised bumps/spots on arms etc which are super itchy. It is understood to be related to hormones and in particular 70% of cases crop up with women expecting a boy (due to testosterone). Mine cropped up around 27 weeks but has calmed down with some lovely natural products I am using. Let me know if you want further details.

SweetPeaPods · 28/08/2014 21:09

Kirst only you can decide but is be tempted to really try and finish it before due date.
After baby arrives you will be in such a sleepless daze that before you know it baby will be 6m old and you still haven't done anything about it. I would also be lost without a car for baby groups etc over winter. But only if you feel upto it now. If you need the rest then do what your body is telling you.

katrianna · 28/08/2014 21:18

Hi
I've only just joined Mumsnet and this is my first baby. I'm due on the 18th October. I've been getting the odd BH but nothing too bad.
The only thing I'm really struggling with is getting out of breath, I can be sat doing nothing and I'll start hyperventilating and my pulse jumps to over 100. It's pretty scary.

YellowWellies · 28/08/2014 21:18

Equally Kirsti I've had one and will soon be pushing two around in a buggy, without driving, all winter. It's utterly doable. So if you don't have time to sit your test don't panic - and meh you'll lose baby weight and get back into old favourite clothes much quicker if you don't! An hours driving lesson or so a week could be a nice bit of 'me time' and will seem like time off! I'm taking my lessons up again once baby hits 3-4 months. Just go with your body, you are very far gone now and it is physically very hard.

STIGZ · 28/08/2014 21:37

Oh kirstie that is a hard one .,, i can see pro's & cons for both continuing & waiting till baby is here? .,, just go with your gut feeling., and dont beat yourself up what ever you decide ? When its meant to be it will be xx
