Someone was selling a bjorn bouncer round here for £30. I would have snapped it up for one of you! We have one and ds loved it.

LAST DAY of work today woooooooo! So relieved. Have a mega sore throat and head ache so very glad this is the last commute in a for a while. Then it really is project get sorted for baby and sort house!

I used a TENS machine first time round and it was good for me (borrower it off a friend). Helped in terms of distraction if anything. But doesn't help much towards the end as I had mine on constant 'pulse' at one point and you are only meant to use that for each contraction!! They work for some, not for others. I would like to give it a go again. I was in labour for 3 days so did help. And I remember walking round the same poxy park wired up to the machine and getting a lot of knowing / sympathy looks from mums out with their prams!!

Bumpforme2014 · 28/08/2014 07:44

Yay for finishing work! Another couple of weeks for me but can't wait to finish so can do all washing, get bags packed, read my books, sort house out and just wait to the best gift of my life!

Thanks for bjorn bouncer recommendations, was kind of hoping you wouldn't all say that one as so expensive but after looking at the others in store they look flimsy and not very comfortable. Keeping an eye on ebay to get a second hand one half price.

Bumpforme2014 · 28/08/2014 07:46

*for the best

Ps not impressed by these weather forecasts saying it's going to warm up again next week down south argh not what we need for 35 weeks pregnant!

mrsb87 · 28/08/2014 07:53

What a stressful evening. First off the hospital rang and told me that after the 5 attempts to try and get blood out of me the tiny bit they did get clotted before they could test it so I have to go through all that bullshit again on Sunday morning.
Then we had a pipe burst in the bathroom, wouldn't be a problem for us really but our bathroom overhangs the neighbour from your nightmares! Now in our perspective the damage is minimal, no furniture ruined and the floor and ceiling got a bit wet. That's it. She was in HYSTERICS! she was completely ridiculous. My husband had popped out so I had to get my other neighbour (who are bloody lovely) to move the washing machine so we could switch the water off.
He then managed to isolate the problem so that's sorted but madame next door was insisting our insurance company come out last night. Now I know that wasn't going to happen (our last house had a frozen water pipe burst and we lost everything, the insurance company didn't come out for a week!). All this was going on and I was just trying not to go into early labour! The braxton hicks were bloody horrid though.
She then piped up complaining about hearing every conversation when we're In the bathroom and why we just can't keep our voices down and also complaining about hearing me be sick every morning......errmmmmmmm! So apparently we're supposed to not talk or hold a conversation in our own bathroom and I have to be sick elsewhere. Please bear in mind she is a middle aged spinster who's only friends are her chickens! Ugh. Sorry needed to offload!

I liked the tens for a short while but it couldn't be beaten by dh massaging and kneeding me quite hard on lower back. He had sore achy hands .... Small price to pay

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 28/08/2014 08:05

MrsB she sounds awful, so sorry you had to deal with that on your own Sad. Hope your insurance company are a bit more on the ball this time!

I have paid for my birthing pool Grin they won't deliver it until 37 weeks but it feels nice to know its all arranged. I am just hoping we can get it filled up in time for the birth or that's 90 quid down the drain! Really excited about the prospect of a water birth though, they look so relaxing on OBEM!

MundayCakes85 · 28/08/2014 08:06

That sounds awful Mrsb, hope you were sick extra loudly this morning! Thanks

mum2kiss · 28/08/2014 08:30

I hired a TENS machine last time...It was a good distraction in the early stages...then got ripped off and flung at a window with a trail of swear words behind it later on lol!

Please don't make me go to work today!

ohthegoats · 28/08/2014 08:47

I'm going to borrow one off my dad - I find it a bit irritating just when I'm trying it out, so don't hope to rely on it at all!

I've got to actually go to work today... boooooooo. The plasterer is in the bathroom, so there isn't even a half working toilet to use, have to be out! We're going to stay at my parents at the weekend so we can have a working bathroom and a working kitchen - so excited about being able to cook properly, first time in 6 months.

I'm massively struggling to give a shit about my job though - it's always the same at the end of the summer holidays, but this time I'm actually with the class for 8 whole days... how on earth do you do something amazing in those 8 days? After that my mat cover teacher arrives and will hopefully be chucked in the deep end in class so that I can get on with all my normal management stuff to hand over.

I've decided to start eviction procedures as of the weekend. Will be 36 weeks then, so presuming none of these eviction procedures actually work, I figure it's still safe!! Raspberry leaf tea, loads of sex, lots of walks and swimming, sitting on and bouncing on balls, acupuncture and reflexology once a week as of next week.. anything I've missed?

Shirehobbit · 28/08/2014 09:14

Evening Primrose oil or Starflower oil to soften the cervix, supposedly (I think the capsules are meant to be inserted rather than ingested?!)

mum2kiss · 28/08/2014 09:16

Only that raspberry leaf tea doesn't induce labour! It tones the uterus to make the second stage of labour go quicker so it's still good stuff ;)

gunwalloe · 28/08/2014 10:45

No phone call from hospital yet so hopefully the blood test was ok I've woken with another headache again though I wonder if I should get a eye test or if I need to drink more I don't like having to keep take pain killers

Shirehobbit · 28/08/2014 10:49

Do you wear glasses already, Gunwalloe?
Pregnancy can really muck about with focal length (maybe due to relaxin?) but that could cause headaches?

gunwalloe · 28/08/2014 11:08

No shire I've never worn them last test was years ago pregnancy definatly does some weird things!

STIGZ · 28/08/2014 12:22

gun it might be hormonal headaches? I always get them in the first trimester & when im due my period... So maybe a surge of hormones causing havoc ??

Lily31 · 28/08/2014 12:28

Afternoon everyone. Just taking a breather. Had a visit from a researcher this morning, I'm having bubba at a teaching hospital, so they always want participants for medical studies etc.
Feeling a bit drained after 2hrs looking at my childhood, my pregnancy, my relationship etc.... Next it's taking hourly saliva swabs which will have to sit in the fridge for a week. If it will help someone else or help them with their study, it's all worth it.

goats being a first time mum the evacuation tips are all new to me. Very useful though :-)

Really feeling for those still working/commuting. From next week, I need to do 3 more weeks of busy tubes journeys, then it will be over. Cannot wait! I sometimes get an urge to push people who are really inconsiderate whilst I am on public transport... Probably best that I don't do it for much longer :-)

binkybunny · 28/08/2014 12:29

MrsB that sounds awful, she sounds like a witch! I also hope you threw up extra loud this morning Grin

Gun I've been getting splitting headaches when I cough and sneeze. Hadn't thought it might be my glasses prescription, my eye sight had just got better at the beginning of my pregnancy. If it's a constant headache though I'd probably give the MW a call and just mention it, could it be related to your blood pressure?

Struggling with work, just keep thinking that this time next week I will be sat with my feet up. It just can't come soon enough.

I can't believe we are all getting so close and that Goats is already talking about eviction- eek!!!

Missus2ndwife · 28/08/2014 12:39

MrsB - hope you get your insurance sorted soon. Karma will get the mean neighbour eventually

I've been feeling really sick the last few days - I can't explain it and have been taking it easy. I really do admire all you lovely ladies still working. I don't think people understand until they have experienced all the joys of pregnancy themselves.

Today I am off to my second attempt at a 3D scan. We tried on Saturday but he didn't want to be viewed (pulled out his tongue, yawned A LOT and then rolled over and went to sleep) !!!

Whispers: Please my baby, please let mommy see you properly today.

Lily31 · 28/08/2014 12:47

missus fingers crossed for your viewing. Have something sweet or some cold water if you can't have sweet things... Might wake him up.

mrsb87 · 28/08/2014 13:46

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping having a screaming baby will drive her out to be honest. If she can't cope with a normal conversation I dread to think what she is going to be like when our baby arrives. I'm not sure what she expected moving into a semi detached house in a large town.
Still feel completely lousy and exhausted. Thank goodness I haven't got to go to work too.

I might be wrong but i don't think opticians are too keen to test pregnant woman as your eyes change so much during pregnancy. I am desperate to get mine done asap after I've had the baby, i am sure i need new glasses! Gun, definitely talk to your midwife about the headaches though just to be on the safe side Smile

tak1ngchances · 28/08/2014 14:07

Need some quick advice please
Am having strong period type pains all morning, especially in my back. I have nothing else (no funny discharge or waters coming out or blood or anything).
Do you think I should call someone or is it normal at 34 weeks?

STIGZ · 28/08/2014 14:12

taking i had this a couple of weeks ago with painful braxton hicks... I called midwife .. She wasnt concerned., but deffo ring them, if u dont you will worry about it all day xx

ohthegoats · 28/08/2014 14:28

How weird, I just came here to ask about something similar.

I'm getting really crampy feelings right down the bottom of my bump - for most of the time when it happens, it could just be movements - I could imagine it being the movement of a head around a pelvis. Sometimes though it's definitely 'more' than that - sort of period painy.

Just been for a swim and had really shooty pains going on in my lower bump, had to take it really easy in the pool. Now I'm back on the sofa I've got the achey feeling again.

It's so hard to separate all these feelings isn't it?! At any time they could be digestion problems, a sluggish bowel, indigestion, ligament pain, a need for a wee, plain old heaviness... ridiculous!

ExcitedCJ · 28/08/2014 14:31

Taking I had same last night 33+4 & was very concerned I was in labour. Very crampy & sore lower back & abdomen accompanied by emptying bowels & fairly regular braxton hicks pains. Had a difficult night sleep & was pretty sweaty all night. All seems to have calmed today, just feeling really knackered & teary. Have cried about 5 times!
Off to have a sleep now to see if that helps.
