mum we're having the TB jab as DH is South African, his grandad had it a few years ago and will be visiting at Christmas and we are also planning on trying to get to SA in the first 6 months. Do you have any high risk factors?

I finally dragged myself to the shops and got a lovely healthy dinner of salmon and stir fry, but then bought a massive strawberry and cream tart for dessert Blush. I've never had such sweet cravings before!

Also, if you are part of the Boots parenting club, they have sent out vouchers for £1 off their own brand nappies. Got a pack of 44 for £2.75. Have also got 25% off Avent 4 pack bottles so when I get to the bigger Boots store can pick those up for about £10.

Felt pretty fed up walking around town, sore bump, clicky hips and short of breath. Only 33+5, are there really potentially 6+ weeks of this Shock

mum2 I'm sorry you have to come clinic postnatally unfortunately they is the way things are going now I know some trusts in London are doing this to. Midwifery is going downhill as there are not enough midwives or finding to provide a service we all deserve and postnatal care is always first in line for cuts.

gun fingers crossed for bloods tomorrow. Though I hope mw didn't mean if those were fine then they wouldn't change again? As pet can develop quickly we must always be vigilant.

I made pasta for lunch in a carb induced slump and headache now.

Lily31 · 27/08/2014 18:29

Summer I've found I get a mixed bag with my mw experience. Some of them seem to know more about certain conditions and little about others. Do you always see the same one? I usually see different ones and will ask the same questions to each of them to see where I can get the best advice.

The one I saw about pgp this week was very sweet and caring but didn't know anything about it.

I think I'm lucky that my trust does home visits after the birth but on the flip they don't offer much for the back pain issue. Swings and roundabouts.

Just made a sausage casserole which I think I will try and eat in small portions... So much reflux! Salmon stir fry with cream cake sounds perfect :-)

I don't want to see a midwife after it's born. I know I have to, and it's not just about me anymore, but I'm sick of medical crap - I just want to get on with living our new lives without being beholden to any medical personnel or shitty 'yes but you must follow our guidelines and be the same as everyone else' type judgementalness. I'm already bored of reading stuff about NCT people's breast feeding issues.

I'm a grumpy shit today though. Just really need a laugh about something... ideally nothing to do with effing babies or pregnancy.

binkybunny · 27/08/2014 20:03

goats watch a really good comedian or some funny You Tube clips, sometimes it's just nice to forget about being preggers and have a good laugh Grin.

ohthegoats · 27/08/2014 20:06

Ha, yes - I tried to make boyfriend come and see something ridiculous at the cinema with me (Inbetweeners 2 or something), but he then just unloaded all his work stress.. seems he's having a bad time today/at the moment too - but hasn't wanted to say. Bless.

Anyway. Probably both feel a bit better now.

Do you find that the blokes get a bit 'yeah whatever' about work too? I'm struggling to care, but I'm wondering if his stress and perceived issues are really just about baby related/different stress, and work feels in the way at the moment.

I guess the last month or so are hard for everyone involved.

YellowWellies · 27/08/2014 20:07

Goats it must be so hard with all the additional appointments you've had. I hope you get a great MW post natally. I have to confess to having a million and one stupid paranoid first time Mum worries and "is this normal?!" questions for the poor community MWs who came after I had Jonas, so I bet they'd be secretly glad at having someone who isn't desperate to see them!

Me23 · 27/08/2014 20:38

So annoyed the carpet fitter was here 4 1/2 hours doing hallway and stairs and he hasn't even done a good job I can feel the nails from carpet gripper as I walk down the stairs it's poking through and we bought underlay as well! Have to phone them tomorrow to come and sort it out very unsafe with 2 soon to be 3 kids.

LondonJen · 27/08/2014 20:41

Oh my gosh I am so tired and mumsnet has disappeared what I was trying to post and wouldn't let me back on!!

So I think it was mum2? way back re gym balls. Mine came with a guide (would've been helpful before bought but nevermind) saying under 5ft4 get 55cm, 5ft5-5ft9" get 65cm and 6ft+ needs 75cm. I am 5'3" and got the 65cm tho and it's fine or it was before my pile developed and literally stopped me from sitting on it!! Mine was profitness from Argos not expensive, seemed good. Will use it whilst labouring at home and to rock my poor hips on for a bit of a stretch.

Gun I hope all is well with your results.

Had 34 week appt today. As a lot of you are finding I had a diff midwife again. Everything looking good though and she said she would fax my birth centre referal tomorrow. That's when I hate it being like a 'stranger' you are trusting to do something so important to you. If it had been the one mw I've met twice I would have felt more reassured though I guess that's silly really.

I think I am actually going to go to bed now, too tired to be up anymore!

MundayCakes85 · 27/08/2014 20:54

I've been attempting to bake a cheesecake since I got home. Managed to multi-task dinner as well. Now waiting to get in the bath but DH needs the loo, he's been ages!!
How wobbly is acceptable for a cheesecake? Don't want to poison anyone!!

ExcitedCJ · 27/08/2014 21:34

Well! It appears the bran, stewed fruit & Fibrogel stuff have done the trick a little too well! I have spent a large portion of the evening on the loo! I'm seriously hoping it's that & not a pre labour clear out!
Another 2 + 4 weeks to 36 would be ideal.
Anyone else feeling fit to burst? I feel gigantic today. I'm not sure it will be possible to grow much bigger. Was joking with DH earlier that baby will require air lifting out of me. EMCAL (cesarian air lift!)

Grannyapple · 27/08/2014 21:39

Hello lovely ladies!

Eventful few days in the apple household...went back home to Glasgow for w/e & last trip before no 3 arrives...long old drive but we managed it.

Went out with sis on Saturday evening for a girls night out with her pals (another one was visiting from London)...only managed to get bloody food poisoning!! Was awful, would not wish it on anyone. Bump was sore all day Sunday from the wretching. Was still ropey on Tuesday & poor DH ended up having to do the drive from Glasgow back to London..

Back to work today & can now see it far enough...slightly darker/wet mornings are making me hanker after mat leave...only 15 days/4 wks of work left!

I saw SIL at the w/e...she's a mw & was all chuffed about me opting for a home birth.. Then said the 3rd birth/labour might be longer than my second Hmm...that was not how I sold it to DH not did I want to hear it!

Off to kip as working tomorrow...hope everyone managed to get a decent stint tonight.

Grannyapple · 27/08/2014 21:41

Ps anyone else feel like their bump is so big & heavy, it's now just resting on your thighs when sitting down?! I'm 33 wks tomorrow but wasn't expecting this til 36/37wks...

ohthegoats · 27/08/2014 21:54

CJ - I like to think that if I've been bunged up for ages, it would take a massive clear-out to well, clear out. I'd still pay money for it to happen!

Bumpforme2014 · 27/08/2014 22:24

Bump feeling heavier here for sure. Nine days of commuting left :-) anyone got any suggestions for bouncer chairs? It's one of last things I've yet to buy.

ExcitedCJ · 27/08/2014 22:26

Goats well then I would highly recommend stewed apple, blackcurrant & blackberry. My MIL made it & I had that an All Bran for breakfast & hey presto been on the loo for 4 hrs off & mostly on!
You had better get your toilet fixed before you try that trick!
Staying at my Dads for a few days on holiday as he is away & I've just had the most amazing bath. His bathroom overlooks the sea & his bath is so deep. I filled it up and floated bump down for last 3/4 hr. Ahhh... Smile
Time for Zzzzz if I can stay off the loo!

ExcitedCJ · 27/08/2014 22:28

Bump I really rate the Baby Bjorn bouncer. I picked mine up 2nd hand for £20. I had a couple of M&P ones and they bloody broke and DD was way more comfy in the baby born with a baby gym slid over the top.

Kirstipops · 27/08/2014 22:30

Yes Granny I feel enormous, felt it for the last couple of weeks (I'm 35+5[HG). Months ago I remember walking around town just thinking "Jeez there are LOTS of pregnant women just now"....now I just look around and feel like I'm 'the most pregnant one of all'.
Wondering about tens machines, hiring vs ebay, it's 30 quid to hire a Mama Tens machine for 4 (and up to 6) weeks but for the sake of an extra 10 or 20 I could just buy a second hand one off Ebay, hmmm...

Kirstipops · 27/08/2014 22:32

Arghh the cat walked over the laptop as I was posting, ignore the random "[HG"!

YellowWellies · 27/08/2014 23:03

Another yes for the Baby Bjorn bouncer! They make rubbish baby carriers but awesome bouncy chairs. Reclinable, washable and can position baby upright enough that they prevent the worst reflux pain. J screamed blue murder in all other bouncy chairs but laughed (and even nodded off!!!!) in a Baby Bjorn. We got ours second hand too as they're very steep new.

YellowWellies · 27/08/2014 23:06

Kirsti I'd think most hospitals would have a TENS or are you thinking for home? I bloody hated the evil thing and nearly flung it through a window. Imagine wasps dancing and scratching across a very painful body part! Blush So errr I'd be minded to rent (if you can't find a window to chuck it out of Grin .)

Kirstipops · 27/08/2014 23:34

Yeah I mainly meant for home for the early stages anyway, hoping it and natal hypno would be good before heading to hospital. A friend in work raved about hers so I thought it seemed a good shout, quite frustrating that some things don't work for some people isn't it, it's hard to know what to go for!

binkybunny · 27/08/2014 23:46

Kristi have also been wondering about renting v buying a tens machine. I used one before and after my knee op to help with pain and my aunt swore by it in her labour.

My long sleep last night is meaning I'm wide awake with one very active baby kicking, pushing and pummeling my stomach tonight. in work tomorrow so could really do with some sleep.

My ankle is also throbbing as DH rubbed my feet tonight but managed to twist my foot slightly. Something went crack and it started swelling Shock

Shirehobbit · 28/08/2014 06:25

Another recommendation for the Bjorn Baby Bouncer, here - absolute essential for us.
I would also recommend hiring a TENS - that way you know it's going to come with brand new, fresh pads to use and be fully functioning (you can't really test it in advance iyswim - and the last thing you need is it to find it to be faulty once labour has started!)

binkybunny · 28/08/2014 06:39

2am when I finally got to sleep and up for work now Sad

Good point Shire!
