How many weeks are you pesto ?

sunshineandbiscuits · 15/10/2014 07:03

bilbo the lucozade test is the Glucose Challenge Test (GCT) which is different from the GTT. No fasting required other than not eating or drinking in the hour between drinking the lucozade and the blood test. I did mine on Monday - the lucozade wasn't quite as disgusting as I was expecting, but then my expectations were pretty low. Good luck today!

28 weeks today - hello third trimester!!

KateTheHuman · 15/10/2014 08:20

Good morning all! First day this week I haven't felt like crap so thought I'd come and say hello! Just been tired and emotional. Oh well. I'm still getting weirded out by kicks in the middle (anterior placenta). I'm so used to getting low down side wobbles that it makes me jump when i get an actual kick at the top haha.

Morning ladies! 29weeks today! Very exciting to think we're definitely in the final stretch!

SK28 · 16/10/2014 07:51

Hi Bobbing!

KateTheHuman · 16/10/2014 08:16

Hi bobbing! Welcome!!! :)

Yay cheshire me too! 29 weeks! Argh!!

Not everyone has a GTT pesto. Only people with certain risk factors. :)

sunshineandbiscuits · 16/10/2014 08:52

Welcome bobbing - great to 'meet' you, we definitely need more people on this thread!!

pesto - GTT is only done if you're at risk, and I think my area is quite unusual in making everyone do the GCT regardless of risk.

Very tired today...

Hi sorry I haven't posted for ages and ages but have been lurking.
I found out at my 20 weeks scan that I'm having a girl! I already have a boy who is 8 so looking forward to the pink dresses and headbands!
Is any one else on a count down to finish work? 7 weeks and counting for me. I'm staring to get tired now but having restless sleep. It didn't help that DS was up at 3 in the morning yesterday unwell bless him. I have been very lucky and not not had to get up with him for about the past 5 years. It was a major shock to the system but a good practice run I suppose!
I hope you are all keeping well and I'm going to make an effort to join in this thread more Smile

Hiya Ryslady! Congratulations on your girly!! I'm the same. I have 8 weeks of work left. Seems so long as I'm so tired!! Never sleep through the night. I'm well practiced in getting up every hour now haha. I'm thinking baby will be a breeze now as I won't have to go to work!

Bobbingalongnicelyalmost · 16/10/2014 13:00

Hello and thanks for the warm welcome Smile
I had my GTT on Monday and all clear again which is excellent news as I had Gestational diabetes with my first two but not with my youngest DD and so far not this time. My DF has diabetes and so did my Grandfather so down to family history.
I have DS 13, DD 10, DD 20 months and I don't find out what I'm having so it's a suprise.

sleepisforthetired · 16/10/2014 14:32

I am reducing my working week November, reducing further in December and off completely from 24th December if things go to plan - however if last baby arrived early, so I am not committing to anything in December just in case!

Work are ok with it, and have already started passing work over/noting everything in case it is not me that picks it up - and pt role they are looking for my cover. In all honesty I am now counting it down as really feeling tired already

I am loving Facebook with its little "XX days till Christmas" as know only have that many days until I can completely slob out!! (or as much is possible with a 3 yr old!)

cheshirem2b · 16/10/2014 16:55

I've got 6 weeks left in work after this week and then I'm taking 2 weeks annual leave and mat leave starts after that! I cannot wait!
Having repeat fasting GTT bloods done tomorrow... Been on a course today and avoided all the free pastries, cakes & biscuits! Determined not to get a high reading tomorrow but I'm so hungry today! I could eat anything & everything!

KateTheHuman · 16/10/2014 18:52

Good luck for tomorrow cheshire!

cheshirem2b · 17/10/2014 10:06

Thanks Kate! Had the bloods taken and just waiting now on the results... very much enjoyed my bacon butty this morning though after the test! Grin
If my phone rings there is a problem with the results but if I hear nothing then I'm in the clear!
How is everyone today? It's Friiiiiiiiiiiidaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!

Bobbingalongnicelyalmost · 17/10/2014 12:37

Good luck Cheshire!
25 weeks today and my bump is starting to feel heavy.....probably doesn't help carrying a 20 month old around on top of it though.
Is anyone else here on baby number 3 or 4 or over 35?

EmmaJan2015 · 17/10/2014 14:54

Hi everyone, especially Bobbing and anyone else new that i've missed!

I am feeling so lethargic today. I can't even be arsed getting up off my chair to make a drink. I don't know whether it's because it's the end of the week or because of the massive choc chip muffin i've just been forced to eat by an evil muffin wielding colleague.

Has everyone got a nice weekend planned? My husband was given 200 of vouchers from work so we're heading into Manchester for the day to spend them on baby stuff. I know the vouchers can be spent at Mothercare, Boots, Gap, ELC, Debenhams etc. I think we'll get a monitor and maybe some more basics like muslins, dribble bibs etc. Then we're treating ourselves to a nice lunch out somewhere. I fancy Australasia (if anyone knows Manchester at all!)

On Sunday I think it'll be a lazy brunch at home and the maybe a walk somewhere with friends before making a pitstop at a country pub.

Nothing too strenuous Grin

sleepisforthetired · 17/10/2014 16:29

Bobbing - read your comment and my first thought before sense kicked in was "who would have 35 kids!?"

Its been a long old week here!

SK28 · 17/10/2014 20:20

Emma, that sounds like a fun weekend! My parents and teenage bro are visiting tomorrow while DH is at the football, so I can show off my pram and other results of my recent nesting Smile Then we have the joint 30th birthday party of two lovely friends. Sunday we have lunch with another group of friends. And then I have to round all that off with all few hours of work to catch up on! Aside from that, a lovely (busy!) one. Must try to be careful not to overdo it though, I've been cleaning and sorting the kitchen for the past two hours and now my back and pelvis are killing me... Oops!

cheshirem2b · 17/10/2014 21:15

Well my gtt was still raised so I'm being referred to the diabetes clinic! Apparently I get a referral appointment, group session, self testing and dietician before they decide whether I need medication or just diet control.
What is exciting is that we might get baby induced at 38w so would have baby by Christmas!

It was in the fb bus but for those not on there one of our ladies has had baby arrive at 28w. baby is doing well in special care.
I'll get her mn name and report back for you.

cheshirem2b · 17/10/2014 21:17

It's Ladycottington
hopefully she'll be able to update us soon on their progress!

HelloMist · 17/10/2014 22:22

Had my flu and whooping cough jabs today (one in each arm!). I felt a little dizzy half an hour afterwards, but I may have imagined that (or it was too hot in the shops). Otherwise was OK, and the slight soreness has gone from my arms now too. :)

No GTT mentioned for me, though I did have one scare of glucose in my urine (midwife thought it was what I had for breakfast. The next sample was FMU and was fine).

Still get days where my energy's run out after lunchtime, but I feel a bit better size-wise this week. I think I'm getting used to the bump and not feeling as big or slowed down (for now)! Though I'm trying not to walk a huge amount because it brings on SPD type pain. Hmm

Eating too much rocky road and too many homemade flapjacks this week... but my diet's healthy otherwise, so I think I'm OK right? Wink

DH is away until Sunday, so I'm just chilling indoors, probably watching films and TV most of the time. I think I did enough out and about today. Everyone else?

LadyCottington · 18/10/2014 04:34

Hey ladies, as Cheshire mentioned I gave birth to my baby boy yesterday at 28 weeks. He is doing well, his oxygen levels were good and he is breathing better than expected. I hope you don't mind me sharing my story, it's helping me make sense of what happened every time I go over it. I don't want to scare anyone though!

On Wednesday I got my flu jab, and by Thursday I wasn't feeling very well. I didn't feel baby move that much that day so Southmead told us to come in. After a bit of monitoring, they found both our heart rates to be quite high and gave me 2 bags of fluid hoping it was just dehydration. I also got a growth scan which showed nothing abnormal and we got to find out the baby was a boy! But then it got serious and the doctors were talking about delivering my baby and gave me a steroid injection in my leg (for baby's lungs), moved me to the delivery suite and started me on magnesium sulphate (for baby's brain/nerve delvelopment) via a syringe driver (like a drip). The magnesium was really weird. As soon as it went in I felt like I was on fire and started throwing up. After more monitoring, they decided baby was doing much better so I could have something to eat, one last quick monitoring session and could go home.
I had to wait ages to be transferred to another room and then that's when I stated having what I now know were contractions. After about 2 hours the midwife noticed I was really having to breathe through the 'tightenings', she got another consultant involved and they shifted me back to the delivery suite. An internal examination found I was 8-9 cm dilated and baby was on its way. Cue more steroids, more magnesium sulphate and an influx of about 9 people into my room. I think at this stage I had my first melt down and started crying with it really sinking in I was going to have my baby that day. The neonatal team set up, explained what was going to happen and then I was left with a midwife and Sadik to deliver my baby. Two hours later I gave birth to my little baby boy. He let out a little sqwark while the neonatal team waited for the umbilical cord to transfer some blood, the they whisked him off into the special set up in the room to get him breathing properly and other important stuff I was trying not to look at. I delivered the placenta and after that baby was wheeled off to nicu. We hit a change over of shifts and had to wait ages for just some tea and toast and for someone to bring me towels for a shower. More waiting and I was wheeled off to a ward room and then even more waiting til we could finally go see our baby boy. The staff at Southmead are all amazing but bloody hell do I feel sorry for them. It was a busy day and they didn't have nearly enough staff.

Right, sorry for the mammoth amount of text! I'm currently sharing a room with one silent sleeper and one overdue lady who snores like a bloody trooper. I only slept 1.5 hours last night but can't go to sleep tonight. I think I'm still far too wired and in shock. Although, not as shocked as my boss is going to be tomorrow when I tell him I'm off on maternity! Not looking forward to that conversation.

Oh and we haven't named our boy yet, I'm many to be sleeping on Lynton and Elliot and telling Sadik my choice tomorrow. I have no idea!
