kittythescarygoblin · 10/10/2006 20:28

How about this?

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 10/10/2006 20:30

Excellent! This is fun!! [scary face emoticon]

divastrop · 10/10/2006 20:49

is ronnie an abbreviation of ronald or is it a name in its own right now ?

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 10/10/2006 20:52

It is an abbreviation for Ronald, but I think nowadays a lot of people name their children with abbreviations. (eg, my nephew is Tom not Thomas).

I like Ronnie but not so keen on Ronald, because in my head I hear Ronald McDonald!

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 10/10/2006 21:05

I have just got an email from my sister who is an HR bod. I thought it might be useful to any of us that are due late March who might go over to April...

"Did you know that if your expected week of confinement is on or after 1st April 2007 you will be entitled to 39 weeks Statutory Maternity Pay, not 26? But you will have to give 15 weeks' notice of your leave, not 28 days as at present. The notice required to return to work has also gone up and will be 8 weeks, unless you take the full year and then you just come back.

There is another change: you can do up to 10 days work during your maternity leave. These will be called KIT days - keeping in touch. You can come back in to work or for training and your employer has to agree with you what you will be paid. But you can't be obliged to take KIT days if you don't want to."

I have posted it on due April too.

kiwibella · 10/10/2006 21:11

crossing our legs for April?? I would love KIT days

Your halloween names are fabby!!

kittythescarygoblin · 10/10/2006 21:15

Glad Ronnie seems to be going down well .
I think it's a name in it's own right now. Does it sound thuggish?

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 10/10/2006 21:15

A little bit thuggish, but that's a good thing, right?

kiwibella · 10/10/2006 21:31

thuggish.... when you have Kitty the Scary Gobblin?????

onillyboilsandbroomsticks · 10/10/2006 21:31

helllooo

Good call Annie - Sorry guys I should have shared that new legislation with you earlier about Mat leave and the new rights coming in April 07. As per Kitty's advise I am desperately hoping that I am a slow cooker as would love the extra maternity allowance! Imagine losing out by a few days?

Fatfox you always make me laugh.

Whoo - Yes did pick.... have resorted to Aimies Magnesium stuff. Hopefully we will have a small explosion tonight on my face! Hmm that sounds rather fun! Hope you feel better soon, thats really crappy.

Havent tried locating perv, but have two disgusting messages left from last night after I pulled the phone out of the socket (it rang a few times). DH livid, and is waiting for call tonight. God help him....

Nova - what are you doing for your Noo's 1st birthday ?

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 10/10/2006 21:32

Nice name, onilly! We are nearing that 1000 mark....

LunarSea · 10/10/2006 21:32

annie - unfortunately it's on DUE date, not actual date, so even if ours don't turn up until April we'll all only get the 6 months

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 10/10/2006 21:33

PS onilly, are you an HR person too?

onillyboilsandbroomsticks · 10/10/2006 21:33

Kiwi - yes... erm, crossing our legs, more like bolting them together and stuffing a cushion up where the sun dont shine

Ronnie is cute.

TheBlonde · 10/10/2006 21:35

almost up to 1000 msgs!!

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 10/10/2006 21:35

x-posted, lunarsea. Oh no, bummer!! Still, I have not had any MW appointments or scan yet so I may be on the wrong thread anyway! How annoying to miss by a few days, I really like the idea of the KIT days.

onillyboilsandbroomsticks · 10/10/2006 21:40

Lunar - are you sure... that's not my understanding? I will seriously check that, because we have altered our Mat policy (funny that...) and have it on good advice from our legal that its when the baby arrives, as per current policy on how all mat leave / allowance is calculated...

Annie - yes I am HR, but my trusty team probably know more about Mat leave than I do....

TheBlonde · 10/10/2006 21:41

I think Lunar is right

Maybe your cpy is just nice to it's staff

onillyboilsandbroomsticks · 10/10/2006 21:42

gawd, sorry Lunar that sounded so pompous... I didnt mean to go into work speak

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 10/10/2006 21:48

Surely it is the day it acually pops out? (wishful thinking) Say for example you were due April 1st and you had a very prem baby (for the sake of argument, born in January), surely you would go with the legislation from when the baby is born?

Why can't it be simple, I have pregbrain and can't concentrate!!! Can one of you lovely HR people find out, I will ask my sister what her understanding is (her specialty is employment law so she should know, do you think?) (that is not meant to sound like p*sstaking BTW).

Have got to get back to the Youngest Mums in Britain, ITV now!!

divastrop · 10/10/2006 21:48

ronnie is nice but only in its own right ie not an abv of ronald...lets just say my dp likes to be known by his middle name

my ds2 is robbie and its not short for robert.

TheBlonde · 10/10/2006 21:48

info this

TheBlonde · 10/10/2006 21:50
