Whoowhoo - Kitty is giving me lessons in being arsey!

morocco · 09/10/2006 18:56

hi all
glad everyone is doing OK but amazed at lack of bump for some people (you lucky things!). Don't know what happened today but all of a sudden I can't fit some of my clothes on - must have eaten too much yesterday or something cos about 3 days ago the same clothes were hanging off me.
saw mw on friday which was a complete waste of time so I'm on mw strike now til about week 30 I think - I had the 1st appointment of the day and still had to wait 45 mintues while I guess last minute urgent appointments went in first. Of course, I'm not saying they shouldn't get to see the mw, but why can't the surgery just timetable in a half hour slot for emergencies - I bet it happens every week. So mw was so rushed my appt took all of 3 minutes and was totally pointless.
anyway, sorry to whinge, it's just a bit of a sore point, I guess it's the same for us all, at hospital for the scan I had to wait 3 hours!!!
getting quite a few kicks now which is nice.
love to all

kittywits · 09/10/2006 19:02

Whoowhoo, I hate 'discussions'. When anyone says to me "Can I have a word?" It makes me cringe. I always fear the worst. I always think "What have I done this time"?, bit like when a police car passes I always think they'll stop and arrest me for looking strange in a built up area or something.
Good luck with it anyway, just cry, it usually puts them off

Diprobase eh? I've got a big pot of that for dd2's eczema. Doesn't work on that , right I'll try some

onilly · 09/10/2006 19:56

I hope this toothpaste lark is not a wind up.... DH is in Sweden so have house to myself + two cats... therefore with no dinner to cook, have made my focus disembowling the pimple. Have steamed face till brighest shade of red, have applied TCP, and now have a large glob of Colgate smeared across my chin. This better work girls!

Whoo - my 'discussions' always used end up with an apology from DH, he'd say sorry before I even began, which winds me up even more... like would you listen first? So after 14 years have given up with giving him an intro and just lurch into a tirade, DH is too clever for me in a debate anyway, so figure I should'nt give him too much of an advantage. New tactic providing much better results Good luck !

Eek, so in my usual dumb manner have worked out the kiddo does not arrive when it should ? There could be a delay, and its better to hang on for nature to take its course ? Makes sense, so why does the NHS force it? Seems bizarre....

I learn alot from you guys.

onilly · 09/10/2006 19:59

Morocco - my bump just suddenly grew too. Literally in days. I think you and I are similar EDD, so thats reassuring !

TheBlonde · 09/10/2006 20:07

I've heard the toothpaste thing though never tried it myself

kittywits · 09/10/2006 20:21

Onilly, the NHS flaps and panics and likes everything to be 'just so'. I think their reasoning behind inductions is that the placenta starts to age and might not be feeding the baby too well. There is a slight risk with going over, but the risk is so slight as to be negligable.
Let me think, last time I finally agreed to go for some monitoring on the 20th Dec and Clara was born on the 22nd, three weeks late, happy as larry, fat as a pudding , covered in vernix and in NO WAY postmature. Some babies just do take longer to cook, that is why I hate this whole induction without good reason thing. Now I'm on my 6th I know that I cook'em slow. And will be taking no notice of my due date.
When they monitor 'overdue' babies they monitor the heart and how baby is coping with braxton hicks/ prelabour contractions. With DD1 I also had the cord bloods measured to check she was getting enough food etc. I don't mind doing that too much, but as long as me and baby are happy then I'm happy to leave it.

MOST baby's come out when THEY are ready. My doula's babies were both 25 days late!!!
Most people seem to have their babies by 14 days over, some are a little longer. Babies don't have calendars, shame the dr's don't seem to recgonise that .
Sorry, bit of a ramble, unnecessary induction annoys me. I'll be quiet now

kittywits · 09/10/2006 20:22

Yeah, toothpaste works, might burn your face though

divastrop · 09/10/2006 20:34

onilly-they only really need to induce if theres a risk to the mother or baby-and i mean a genuine proven risk-if the pg continues.ie in my case i suffer from high blood pressure which if left can result in pre-eclampsia which can result in eclampsia which can result in death of mother and baby...so that is IMO a good enough reason to force a baby out early.but in cases where there isnt a proven risk such as being overdue i just dont understand why they do it.they should let nature take its course.

saying that,i was ready to get it over and done with by 34 weeks last time...i really dont know how u ladies who go 3 weeks past ur due date cope...i would go insane(er)

whoowhoo-how did the 'discussion' go?i couldnt cope with that,it'd be like being at school again and the head telling u at registration to see her in her office at dinnertime.i would be wondering what the hell i'd done.

Rosylily · 09/10/2006 21:59

Onilly sounds like you look and smell lovely this evening. Hope the plan works! I've got pimples on my bump. Might try plastering bump with toothpaste tonight see if it helps.

I have gone over by five days with all three so far. The first time I was in to be induced and the gel they put on me started me off. Think I was going then anyway. The next two times I had induction dates but nipped in before. This time I'm not going to be passive about being induced because it seems to be a harder way to do it. So I'll be hiding at home like the rest of you slow cookers Though the last bit does drag...

divastrop · 09/10/2006 22:09

my mum just txt me and asked how ds2(age 3)is getting on with his alphabet and counting.so i replied'hes only just started nursery' she said'oh i thought u would be teaching him at home'.why????

Rosylily · 09/10/2006 22:24

Just tell her its not encouraged nowadays! When I was a classroom assistant in p1 the teachers would have a nightmare with kids who were already trying to write. Is easier and quicker to teach kids from scratch apparently.

kittywits · 09/10/2006 22:27

Diva, just say that's what school is for, home is for playing

divastrop · 09/10/2006 22:39

i dont get it...i never taught the older 2 before they went to school,i would do more harm than good anyway i dont have a clue how to teach!(and im far too impatient).i think she is bitter about something cos she also told me she saw my x yesterday...and i needed to know that because?

ok this baby is defo kicking now.no flutterings, just booting me.

kittywits · 09/10/2006 22:43

Diva, is you mum mad too?
Ask her if she wants to come and turor your babies
Fanstasic to feel a kicking baby!!

eidsvold · 10/10/2006 03:20

all going well here despite a return trip to A & E - turns out the doc yesterday had not put dd2's elbow back in and she was still in a lot of pain this morning. According to dh ( admin person at the same hosp) we were seen by one of the top paed emergency consultants and the doc definitely seemed a lot more thorough than yesterday's doc. Dd2 is fine now - moving her arm no pain. Now just have to be careful as she is prone to more pulled elbows if we are not careful - apparently very common in young children.

kittywits I have yet to meet a social worker I respected let alonel iked - could just be me BUT i felt very cross at her assumption that I was feeling pressure etc. I felt like saying - this baby has tofit in with everyone else in this family who at some time or another may have greater needs than the baby.

The consultant I have is the same one I had for dd2 and he was very supportive of my desire for vbac with dd2 ( didn't get it in the end - my choice etc) and so look forward to seeing him again and chatting about what are my options.

15 + 4 weeks

eidsvold · 10/10/2006 03:21

fatfox · 10/10/2006 08:41

Yeah, course you can

Welcome back to the land of bumps and farting stroppy women

Whoowhoo - how did your "discussion" go?

Hi everyone else - Eids, sorry to hear about your LO's elbow - sounds extremely painful

anniediv · 10/10/2006 09:18

spookegypt, where in the East Midlands are you? I am West Midlands. Welcome back, I hope you've not tried to catch up with all the posts!!

kittywits · 10/10/2006 09:31

Aghhhhhhhh!! Bloddy hell what is wrong with my bloody sons?????
School run, absolutely p**ssing down. I ask them to get their rainn coats. So me, ds1, ds2, dd1, dd2, bags for harverst festival, book bags, football kits, lunches boxes, spare trousers and shoes bag, brollies, the whole caboodle gets in the car and sets off. We get to school and I say " Boys get your rain coats on before we get out of the car" Have they bothered to take them?
Aghhhhhh, I'm so angry that I'm now going to off to wqite them each a list of very detailed instuctions about what to do everyday, like wkae up, get out of bed, breathe, blink. It's a boy thing and they don't change once they've grown up.

anniediv · 10/10/2006 09:41

kittywits, it's a girl thing too!

onilly · 10/10/2006 09:48

morning ladies... toothpaste sort of worked, but still no head and seems to have taken on watery blister effect. Seriously, I kid you not, its the size of a 10p now.

I had a crank phone call last night. I was home alone, DH away (as usual!) it was awful. Heavily accented and I wont tell you what he said.
We are having our ensuite redone and there are a couple of foreign blokes working on it, so do you think it may be one of them ?
He knew I was home alone.... out phone is unlisted?

I didnt sleep a wink, and feel a bit freaked out today.

Kitty - you are superwoman!

Thanks all for the info on "induction" (new word!) yet another joy to look forward to!

TheBlonde · 10/10/2006 09:48
