Morning all .

Just a quick one from me as I am supposed to be writing a report which is overdue. I'll get shot if I don't email it this morning. Welcome back Dixia . I love Spain and really enjoy hearing about it. Wish my spanish were better too! Must make more of an effort with it. You must be pretty fluent to conduct medical consultaions in it. How long have you been there?

Leo - sorry that you are feeling under the weather with your tummy pains. I am afraid I can't remember if you already have children so apologies if I am stating the bleeding obvious . I became much more aware of every ache, pain, niggle etc when I was pg with DD. I am still really feeling it now. It could well be stretching pains as you have got a lot of stretching to do with your twins, esp if this is your first pg as your muscles haven't been there before. However, it could also be digestive (esp if you are constiptated - can be very painful!) or could be a urine infection. I have just started antibiotics for a UTI which started with terrible pains in my tummy which sort of radiated down to my thighs. You need urgent treatment in pg with urine infections as they can travel to your kidneys and cause all sorts of trouble. I'd get the old GP to have a look at you, just to be sure. If it is just growing pains, then your mind will be at rest.

Hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.

Hi all! I'm possibly due March 1st! Sorry I can't be anymore precise, but I have PCOS and that is about as accurate a date "give or take a few weeks" whihc I was told when I finally had my dating scan!

This is my first child.. and I'm filled with excitement and a whole load of nerves!

kittywits · 27/09/2006 10:54

Welcome Aime

anniediv · 27/09/2006 10:57

Hello everyone. Not posted for a bit as I've been feeling too bleurgh. BUT today (I am touching wood and crossing fingers as I speak) I am feeling....okay. I haven't taken my antisick pills because I felt okay first thing, and have eaten something for breakfast. Have not attempted a drink yet. And I even coped with a vomitting dd2 without joining in!! Could this be my first non 9 month vomitting pregnancy?????

Booboobedoo · 27/09/2006 10:58

Welcome AmieR! And congratulations

Morning everyone else.

Good mood continuing: long may it last. Haven't been sick since my birthday. Crossing everything that this is the end of the actual vomiting.

Leogala: agree with dolly that you should get a check-up. It might be stretching, but if it is a urine infection they can clear it up really easily, and you'll feel better.

Hi dolly!

Am jealous of all the ladies spending time/living in Windsor. It's one of my favourite places. Does anyone remember the German Christmas shop they used to have there? I am childishly obsessed with Christmas, and you could go in there in July and it felt like December. Sad it closed

Onilly: sorry to hear about the crappy time you're having with your antenatal service. Sounds like you're sorting them out though.

Hi dixia: so sorry to hear you're still sick: I really feel for you.

Sorry I haven't caught up with eveyone, but it's impossible on this thread, isn't it?

Looked in my pregnancy book yesterday, and apparently LO should be covered in vernix by now. Yeuch.

EDD 3/3
17+3

Booboobedoo · 27/09/2006 10:59

X threads annie. Hope sickness stays away.

AmieR · 27/09/2006 11:08

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I've not felt sick today, felt pretty rough this past monday, but before that I had a glorious 2 weeks of not feeling a little bit of nausea or anything! Was really paying for it monday!

Just tiredness getting to me at the moment, 4-5 trips to the toilet in a night isn't good! I stop drinking from about 7pm too! Any hints or tips?

onilly · 27/09/2006 11:16

Hi all
Fatfox and Shanks - for my sins I work in Reading, so cant make it for lunch
Another time ? Would be a hoot..

Chapter V - Screening Saga The Conclusion!
Got a call from my GP last night asking what all my "issues" were. Was very honest with him. He went very silent (hopefully due to acute embarrassment!!!) As a result he has taken over and organised I met him first thing this am for the blood whatsit . I have never met him, but am registered under his name...I have only needed the Dr twice in the last five years, and every time he has never been there..... I got bloody great service this time - even got a cup of tea ! But why should it be such a flaming battle [hmmm]? I surely must now be categorised as a right pain in the ass on their computer system. I think the word is spreading there is an Onilly on the warpath! Anyway the blood has been safetly dispatched to Leeds Screening and I await next steps !

Shanks - hope the rash is'nt itchy - thats when I would worry....

Leo - Ouch, I am no good on pain but DollyP always has good advise!

Fatfox, know Cumberland Lodge well, you have fab weather, here I am stuck in office ! Hope you are enjoying it. DH and I tend to walk the Long Walk and Great Park every other morning and weekends. Love it.

onilly · 27/09/2006 11:22

Hi Amie

Annie and Boo - that is fabbo news - I think you may be on the blossom trail
I am biaised, but think Christmas in Windsor is quite special, I esp love the tree outside the castle, and last year they put up an ice rink in Alexandra Park - I drank gallons of their mulled wine whilst watching the ice skaters and then toddling off to feed the swans....

I am also looking forward to Christmas !!

shanks313 · 27/09/2006 11:32

Morning,

I still got the rash but it looks like its fading a little. Its not itchy so I will probably just hsng on till my ante natal appointment on Monday .I hate going to the doctors.

Fatfx and Onilly-Will have to meet another time,I dont start work till 3 this afternoon and soooo busy today.Kids have got tap tonight so Im really looking forward to that rush around lol.

Rosylily · 27/09/2006 11:46

Anniediv have you got any boys? Only asked because a friend gets sick for 9 months. She has 2 girls. Her mother was the same, (has high oestrogen levels) BUT she had two boys and wasn't sick for 9 months with them....
Welcome Aime, your excitement is delightful and refreshing!

anniediv · 27/09/2006 11:51

Rosylily, I have 3 girls. I must admit, I did think 'maybe this is a boy'. And I feel awful to say this, but I don't know how I feel about that. I just can't imagine having a boy. Also (and I know this is pathetic) I really worry that people will think "ah, they kept going til they had a boy" which devalues my girls IYSWIM.

God, blame the hormones!!!!

Anyone else on here with all girls or all boys who knows what I mean??

Rosylily · 27/09/2006 11:57

Anniediv-I am one of three girls and I always wanted a brother! I have two boys and a girl. They are all fab and different. My boys are really sweet. So if its a boy don't be scared!

anniediv · 27/09/2006 12:00

Argh, willies, what do you do with them????!!!!! If it is a boy, he will be very in touch with his feminie side! Poor dh lives in a pink, fluffy house of glitter!

Oh well, it's definitely one or the other, and either way he/she is a bonus addition to the family!

Rosylily · 27/09/2006 12:04

Hee hee, you would soon get used to the willie! I had a boy first so I was nervous of what to do with a girl when she arrived, but it didn't take long to adjust. I actually find a boys bottom easier to clean though my sister disagrees.

Piffle · 27/09/2006 12:12

Boys much easier to clean nappy wise than girls IMHO
But beware the pee in the air!
Also you need to know to point the penis down in nappies or t shirts and vests get SOAKED
And it saves you a fortune on clothes as you simply cannot spend as much on boy as girl
I think mines a boy FWIW

divastrop · 27/09/2006 12:21

hello ladies.

annie-boys are easier when it comes to bum changing.i had a boy first and i worried about that bit till i got used to it.the only thing ill never get used to is when they 'discover' their willy(i think this happened at about 8 months)then they never leave them alone.well, neither of mine do anyway.

fatfox/kitty,i cant believe that smacking thread is still going on!

hi amie congratulations.
ur baby is due on my birthday

16 weeks

AmieR · 27/09/2006 12:22

My DH and I are in the "not going to find out till birth" club at the moment. We like surprises! I can see the benefit of finding out but... I'd like the surprise!

DH obviously wants the next Pele! He's worried about being over protective of his little girl! As long as they're healthy!

I'm worried about having a girl as I've always been around boys, and have never really been interested in anything too girly, (apart from pink champagne!)

I guess I'll learn as I go along.. dressing barbie must be similar to an action man!

kittywits · 27/09/2006 12:24

I know what you mean Annie. When I had 2 of each people assumed I would stop there, why would I want another, it would unbalance things, sort of argument. There are some people this time round who assume I would want a boy to even things out again. I'm not fussed but on a practical level a girl would be better. If it's a boy I'll have to buy from scratch!!

kittywits · 27/09/2006 12:26

Diva, the smacking thread is getting new contestants all the time so the arguments are sort of going round in circles

Rosylily · 27/09/2006 12:48

I'm getting stressed out by the smacking thread now!!! I keep just annoying people and then having to explain my whole life story to get out of it. I think its time I went back to good housekeeping.

divastrop · 27/09/2006 12:51

kitty,i just tried to look on the smacking thread and the server went down on me!somewhere in RL there are probably a load of techno-phobe parents talking about all the terrible mothers who ignore their children and spend all day on the computer

alot of people said 'is that it now, then?' after i had dd2 as i also have 2 of each, and seem quite surprised i would want another.it would work out cheaper to have a girl.i cant wait to find out personally.

amie-my 7 yr old dd has always been into witchcraft, astrology, crystals etc.she has a couple of barbies but she just cuts their hair now and then.dd2 is nearly 10 months and despite having loads of baby toys is only interested in ds2's toy cars.i dont think i'dve known what to do with girly girls myself.

leogaela · 27/09/2006 12:55

thanks dollyp for the advice. Its second pregnancy, but I do (or did) a lot of sport so he muscles stretching was very painful last time and now its happening so quickly, I'm just not sure if its a different pain this time. I'm going to take loads of magnesium and go to the doc on Friday if it still doesn't feel right.

We didn't know whas ds was until he was born (although my doctor knew 100%) and plan not to know what the twins are until they are born either. For me it was something really special for the 'its a boy' announcement to be made when he was born ! Also I was terrified I would have a girl, but knew that if I found out when the baby was born that it wouldn't matter at all. It gets really boring when you are pregnant being asked if its a boy or girl, I know lots of people will think I am mad not wanting to know if the twins are boys or girls!

Onilly, I had dodgy blood test results (1 in 30 risk of abnormality) and no option for a nuchal scan with ds so had an amnio. And this time the blood test isn't an option with twins, still no nuchal available here so I am going to have another amnio (will be tuesday next week). It is an unpleasant procedure, but not painful and my imagination came up with horrible things last time (its a very long needle) I think the risk depends on who does the amnio tbh and how you take care of yourself afterwards.

kittywits · 27/09/2006 12:56

Wow Diva Amie sounds really interesting. Does she ever feel she has contact with 'the other side'?
I think it's nice to refer to our children by their names as well. I know it's a bit tricky to remember everyone,s children, but it helps to personalise them for me. Perhaps from now on I will still say ds1 for example but will put his name as well. After all we all know each other here now.
It is you that has a Gloria isn't it ? Great name!
If I have a girl I fancy an Eliza, if a boy I really like Corrin, DP doesn't but I've got a few months to work on him yet!
15 wks today

AmieR · 27/09/2006 13:05

Diva - sounds odd I guess, but I find little girls so Alien! I have an almost 2 year old niece who's teaching me that pink is good and dresses can be cute! If the LO does turn out to be a girl, I'm sure I'll have my eyes opened to a whole new world.

On the name front.. not even thought about that yet... is this odd?
