coaster - hahahahahahahah.

You will have a baby. There will be poo in your washing machine anyway. On their clothes, on your clothes, on that towel you were letting them have nappy-free time on...

Newborn poo is very liquid and bf newborn poo is quite inoffensive. Just pop nappy in machine as-is. Once they're eating proper food the more solid poo should go down the loo, then do a cold rinse cycle in the machine before washing. It really isn't as bad as you're imagining :)

m33r · 20/08/2014 07:33

toast all of those sound great. I have no preference.

Rainbow555 · 20/08/2014 08:05

PickledPorcupine · 20/08/2014 08:17

Can I be really boring and say I like the current one?!

fishfingerSarnies · 20/08/2014 08:22

Well I've been being sick every half hour since 4am so not happy.

lotsoftoast · 20/08/2014 08:24

Oh god fish, you're not having a good time. I think you maybe need to see your doctor if you've been sick 8 times before the working day has even started. Are you managing to sip water?

fishfingerSarnies · 20/08/2014 08:36

Not really keeping it down but trying to, feel very dehydrated. Just about to call GP now. Wish me luck, they are so rude and it's easier to get a meeting with the Pope than see a dr. Ha

lotsoftoast · 20/08/2014 08:39

Good luck, don't stand for any nonsense

Butterpuff · 20/08/2014 09:02

Poor fish good luck getting an appointment, hope they understand that your really need it. Flowers

Re: poo in the washing machine I echo what others have said - anything solid drops into the toilet, anything else just leave. That's where I find the mesh washing bags great inside my nappy bucket so I then don't have to touch the nappies, just lift the bag out when full and throw into the machine. Cold rinse cycle first to get rid of the worst then onto a 60 degree wash with just a bit of detergent. I've found that the trick to having fewer leaks is to rinse, rinse, then when you think they're fully rinsed - rinse again! My machine has a button that adds an extra rinse to any cycle so I use that, then do a couple of extra rinses as well.

When I read that back it sounds like a lot of effort but when you doing it it really isn't...

DurhamRed · 20/08/2014 09:06

Fish - get them to test your urine for keytones. If keytones are in your urine you are dehydrated and need hospital treatment. Are you on a any anti sickness meds?

Butterpuff · 20/08/2014 09:06

On the nappy discussion. I'd quite like to try cloth. However I know they are supposed to be expensive to start with and we have tons of disposable already (friend gave me a couple of packs of her new-born leftovers now her little girl has outgrown them and husband had been bulk buying anything baby related that he sees in sales at his work). I of course have no idea how many nappies a baby gets through in a week so don't now if we have a day supply, a week or a month up on the loft! I see lots of people use disposables at night, or maybe for days out or babysitters they might come in useful. Hmmm. Perhaps I can do both.

Butterpuff · 20/08/2014 09:09

Another Poo story. My Mum always talks about a friend of theirs who used to get a teaspoon out the cutlery draw and scrape the poof off the nappies on the kitchen work top and into the sink before dumping spoon into wash and nappy into washing pile.

I think they declined all offers of hot drinks after that!!! Grin

KeeperOfTheZoo · 20/08/2014 09:17

Eeewww Butterpuff!

I used disposable for the first few weeks as DS was only 6lb 15 born and because I had one size cloth nappies, these tend to start from about 8-9lb (officially 8 but I think it depends on the shape of your baby, took mine a little longer to get a good fit). Also if at nursery/childminder/parents or on a big day out I would use disposables too so it is still handy to have them in as a back up.

They are expensive to start with but it gets the expense out of the way and I worked out that after about a year I had broken even when compared to what I would've spent on disposables - anything beyond that had me better off, and using them for a second child puts me up straight away! Grin

lotsoftoast · 20/08/2014 09:31

Ewwwww indeed!

fourmonthstogo · 20/08/2014 10:51

That can't be true- down the sink?! Ew!

My nursery were happy to use the cloth nappies. That was something I took into account when choosing a nursery.

ELA88 · 20/08/2014 10:53

Oh no just sent myself into paranoid worrier over drive!! We have a family wedding next June in Scotland so will be flying, baby will be 3 months by then. Has anyone got experience of flying with baby at that age? And all the stuff I'll need to take! The more I think about it, the more I realised I'll need to take...argh!!

coastergirl · 20/08/2014 11:28

Er OK. I do apologise. Won't ask anymore stupid questions. Blush

Butterpuff · 20/08/2014 11:51

No daft questions here coast newbies to the world of babies like me need people to ask them. I haven't even thought of the questions yet!

Safra72 · 20/08/2014 12:11

toast happy with any title but could you put in there the link to the list?

6 days till my scan! Can't wait.

Contemplating when to tell my 3.5 yr old ds..... He mentioned yesterday that Mia (my friends baby) and Darcy (my nieces baby) were his sisters so I asked if he's like a sister or a brother..... His reply? "Ummmm, a sister, and a brother, and a cousin all at once"! Not sure I can accommodate that! Lol

Who is telling dc's when? Am thinking after 20 week scan...... If I'm still not showing too much that is!!

lotsoftoast · 20/08/2014 12:14

safra will do on my lappy tonight if no one gets to it before me

NotAQueef · 20/08/2014 12:17

I need someone to hand me a giant grip.
For some reason I am in a massive tizz about my scan this afternoon, have butterflies/churny stomach which is making me vomit. I can’t concentrate at work and feel really teary! Why can’t I be normal and just look forward to it?

Anyone else feel that way?
