Thank you for all the kind wishes! It's going to have to sink in now that I'm actually having a baby!

Butterpuff · 19/08/2014 16:10

Oh Sunshine exciting. When are you due in feb? I'm 23rd since scan. Sorry your hospital were crap, exciting to get a hint, we didn't get any.

Don't know about you but this is my first and we were so amazed at how formed the baby was, we were expecting a blob not a little person that kicked and squirmed in response to being poked!

Sunshine4444 · 19/08/2014 16:28

Thanks butterpuff due feb 25th.

I was so surprised to see baby leaping around and I couldn't feel it!! Arms, legs, mouth everything was moving I was just shocked. I still can't get my head round the fact that baby is growing in me!!!!x

teaandbiscuitsforme · 19/08/2014 16:30

Thanks for all the nappy tips! DH is adamant that we use them so have started looking at the nappy lady. My only worry is starting them straightaway-is it too much when you're getting used to a newborn?

eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 19/08/2014 16:40

Teaandbuscuits - it absolutely was for me. Especially since we hadn't even got the ones we ended up using. Plus newborn babies are so skinny is often difficult to get cloth nappies to fit tightly enough around their thighs. Even though this will be my second in planning the first 4-6 weeks to be in disposables. I like the eco friendly Nature Baby ones they sell in Waitrose

fourmonthstogo · 19/08/2014 17:15

tea it wasn't for me, the ones I used go on the same as disposable ones, and I was at home so the washing wasn't an issue. Size can be an issue as the birth to potty ones usually fit from 8 lb. We gave it a week or so until dd was up to that and to let the dust settle and then ploughed straight in.
The tots bots flushable liners were a great size but as cakes said pointless til weaned.
Oh I really want to buy some new nappies now!

fourmonthstogo · 19/08/2014 17:16

Hello nearly. Welcome!

Pinksun12 · 19/08/2014 17:55

Yay!!! So pleased for you coaster!!

teaandbiscuitsforme · 19/08/2014 18:00

Thanks cake and four. Think I might get some disposable ones to start with and move on as soon as I'm feeling confident and baby is big enough!

lotsoftoast · 19/08/2014 19:16

Will do us a new thread tomorrow ladies, just so we don't panic when we hit 998!

m33r · 19/08/2014 19:24

sunshine that's great news (except rubbish staff). Your post has made me so excited for my scan. 17 days to go... So far away! Cingrats again

junkfoodaddict · 19/08/2014 19:33

We need a really good, catchy title for the next thread.

I have been all round York today with an impeccably behaved toddler in tow. Jeans digging into me, left me with crampy pains. Now bloated, crampy (but very mild) and nauseous. I think it's hunger as I haven't eaten since 12:40pm.

fishfingerSarnies · 19/08/2014 19:44

Ha I just read your post about needing a catchy title I then thought your next paragraph was a title suggestion... I thought mmmm that's not very catchy!

Rainbow555 · 19/08/2014 20:13

Oh gosh junk there is no way I could go that long without eating something and still be functioning! Eat something quick! (You probably have by now!)

Congrats coaster and welcome nearly mum

I have had my usual start to my morning.....but 10 weeks today! Counting down till scan, it is great starting to hear good scan news from you all!

junkfoodaddict · 19/08/2014 20:21

Chicken, bacon and leek pie complete with leftover veg and now tucking into homemade Nutella Brownie.

fourmonthstogo · 19/08/2014 20:47

junk that sounds awesome. Having food envy now... Good thing I've got a melting middle chocolate pud in the fridge for later!

coastergirl · 19/08/2014 21:09

Can I ask a really stupid newbie question about cloth nappies? The only thing putting me off is the idea of putting poo in my washing machine! Is it not an issue?

Rainbow555 · 19/08/2014 22:12

coaster I have the same question!!
One site suggested you scrape it off down the loo first....that seems like a lot of effort? So what do we do with the poo?!

Junk and fourmonths I am v. Jealous I have aversions to all things sweet I have not had choc, cakes or otherwise for weeks and weeks!! Enjoy!

fishfingerSarnies · 19/08/2014 22:45

So much for feeling better, just had high speed dinner in reverse. Yuck.

You flick the poo down the toilet, it's quite easy, I never bothered with disposable liners but you can. I used fleece liners poo peels off quite easily or you hold it by the edge in the bowl and glyph and it comes off. You are supposed tho flush poo with disposable nappies bit no one does I guess.

fishfingerSarnies · 19/08/2014 23:59

Well had another of my blacking out sort of things tonight, luckily my husband was holding me so nothing much happend I was just out of it and being sick it's such a wierd feeling quite scary, thought it was all passing after 3 days of feeling fine. Now I'm all scared to be on my own again and my husband leaves on Sunday totally gutted and depressed by the whole thing.

lotsoftoast · 20/08/2014 06:14

What about.....

Due March 15 - emerging valiantly from first tri, sanity may or may not be intact

Due March 15 - still sick, still tired, still gassy - awaiting our glow

Due March 2015 - Valiantly riding the morning sickness horse, galloping towards second tri

Due March 2015 - the end of first tri is in sight, our porcelain bowl worship is coming to an end

Due March 2015 - victory over the vomit on the way to second tri

Due March 2015 - sleep, sickness, silliness and definitely no sex, second tri here we come

All suggestions welcome!

lotsoftoast · 20/08/2014 06:17

Hope you feel better today fish

MotherOfInsomniacToddlers · 20/08/2014 07:05

Re: cloth nappies and poo. You can use a disposable liner and just flush that, I started with that but honestly found it easy enough to go without. When they are newborn espicially breast fed there is nothing to scrape,it's liquid anyway. When they go on solids I found I just hold the nappy over the toilet and it falls off (you are supposed to do this with disposibles anyway) if any encouragement is needed I just use a bit of toilet roll.
Poo in the washing machine isn't an issue IMO, disposibles often leak over the clothes and all up the back and they get washed in the machine and same when you have a toddler with a tummy bug. I just run my washing machine at a high temp occasionally for peace of mind but ive never had a smelly washing machine Smile hope no one was eating their breakfast!
